My family (DH, DD 10, DD 7) is doing the 7 day land/sea and are trying to decide between two dates... Sept. 26- Oct 3, 2002 OR
May 1-8, 2003. It used to be going in the fall was much cheaper, but these two weeks are exactly the same price. I'd like to go in Sept. because it's sooner, it will be hard to wait a whole year, and because we could be on the cruise for my daughter's 10th birthday. But I'm very worried about the weather late Sept./Oct.
We've been to Disney twice in May and had the best weather!
Of course you can never guarantee weather in any month but this is such an expensive vacation I'd hate to risk a problem with hurricane season or not being able to dock in Castaway Cay.
Also, does anyone know if the ship and parks would be more crowded during either of those weeks? We'd be taking the kids out of school either way. I'd appreciate any opinions.

We went in May last year and had been in Sept. We are going back this Sept. We like the Sept. water temps better and it does seem to be less crowded.
This is Walt's 100th Birthday celebration year as well.
Just what we think,
Russ

Having lived in FL ten years, as well as done the 4 day Disney World/3 day cruise in May, my vote is for May all day long. Sept. can be so hot! Moreover, hurricane season tends to be far more active in Sept. than May. I took my kids out of school and find they miss less at the end of the year (all they do is field trips then anyway, or so it seems) than the beginning. That can be a more critical time period as far as settling in for the school year, I think. It's also a more hectic time for us, too, between sports starting, school, and the holidays right behind. Fall flies! Have fun whenever you go!

May all the way!!!! We are booked on the 7 night land/sea May 1-8 2003 372 days and counting everyone of them:crazy:
We have been at WDW several times in early May. The crowds are not that bad, and the weather has always been perfect. So I would vote May:> If you decide to sail these dates, I will have a DD10 on that cruise also. Keep us updated on your decision:D

Thanks for the advice!!! We've decided to go on the May 1-8, 2003 with 3 days at POFQ. Sept. is a crazy month getting everyone back in school and we decided it would be easier taking them out in May when things were winding down. We will end up being on the ship for our younger daughter's 8th b.day but have promised our DD 10, that we will be celebrating her milestone birthday as well, a little late. Thanks for your help! I have been addicted to these boards, what a great resource!:jester:

Great choice, maybe we will see you on the ship. We are staying at the CBR for the land portion. My kids DD10 and DS11 will also be celebrating b-days on the ship. They will turn 11 and 12 in May so we are celebrating early. 371 days and counting:D
