Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

Do I need to be prepared to pay off the whole trip on Monday with my Disney Visa in order to get the RO discount? I've gotten this impression from some of the posts above. Or is the deposit still sufficient since our balance is not yet due?

Thank you and Mickeynut for the help. I've been a couple of times in the last year but this is the first time that I am looking at having an AP so things are pretty confusing. I don't know what I would do without the DIS!!

You're welcome :goodvibes. I agree about these boards. I have gotten so much information here over the years that I often wonder what I did before I found the Dis.

i have a question - i currently have a package booked at all star movies with a free dining pin for 12/19-12/24. how can i see if it is a better deal to go with the room only discount and pay for dining out of pocket? can i still get tickets through WDW or do i need to go through a third party agent if i use the room only discount?

If you want to price it out prior to the discounts being available, all you need to do is price just the room for the resort you want, subtract the amount that would be discounted (20%, 25%, etc), and then add in tickets and DDP. That should get you pretty close to what it would cost with a RO discount vs FD. You can get a package and use a RO discount, with the discount applying to the room portion only. Since you already have a package booked, that reservation can be modified to reflect a RO discount instead of FD (as long as the resort you want/have booked is available under that promo :)).

You can just pay the deposit. No need to PIF early.

Just call and ask to see what your total would be with the room discount instead. They can tell you without actually switching it. Everything you have on the reservation now would be the same, they'd just be discounting the room portion of your package instead of the dining portion.

More often than not I see values getting a better discount with free dining.

Any thoughts or guesses based on history for estimated wait times on Monday morning? I just found out that I have to be in a meeting at 8 am ET.

I am planning to be at the office by 6:45 so I can start calling right at 7. I am just worried about being on hold for an hour and then having to hang up before reaching a CM. We did the all day wait last year for BOG ressies. I figure it won't be as long as that, but is less than an hour just wishful thinking???

I'd go into it thinking 45 min to an hour.

I don't have a Disney visa, so will be calling in when the general public discount is released (hopefully Thursday the 1st). One of the room types I was interested in with a discount is now available online (YC, garden view). Should I go ahead and book now and try to apply the discount to the room type on the 1st rather than risk it being sold out?

It won't make a bit of difference. What is available at rack rate has nothing to do with what is available with a discount. Having it already booked doesn't increase your chances of applying the discount to that same room.

If you want to get the deposit done and over with I'd go ahead and get started but that's really the only advantage.

Ok. Can somebody please clarify something for me. I do not have a disney visa but my sister does. We both have reservations under our own names at the same resort on the same check in day. I thought I would be able to use her disney visa to get the discount if it applies to my room category on my reservation and she would also be able to use her disney visa for her reservation if it applies to her room category as well. Her AAA agent told her I can not get the discount unless I have the disney visa but my AAA agent said it would be no problem for me. Can someone please let me know if I can use her card to get the discount and she can use it too?

Been thinking about this, too. I start work at 7 a.m. My first hour is my most hectic as I'm in charge of tallying up all the work for the day & handing out assignments to 20+ people. We're not really allowed to start early, but I'm gonna try to, and hopefully be done by 7-7:15. Then I plan to "take my lunch early" and call Disney. If it runs over 45 minutes, then I've got to make up the time.

So I'm wondering if I'd be better off waiting until after someone posts something on the DIS (like a code or how their call went) and/or it's officially on the Visa site. So...do I call early & hope they know what I'm talking about? Or do I wait until I have more info & call later & hope there's still availability for what I want? Would stuff "sell out" that fast before it's even official on the Visa site?

Is there anyway to search availability on the Disney website without having to click on each resort? I want to see what my choices on a certain day.

So does anyone have any idea what all this means for the AP discounts? :confused3 I am having anxiety attacks thinking that if all of you book there won't be any need to give us an AP discount.:scared1: I know that last year the AP disc. came out later than the other ones but they were better. Should I wait it out or should I book and then change if one comes out? I am not feeling very patient right now.:worried:

I was able to apply a room discount during a Disney Visa discount period not only to our room, but to our daughter's room as well, and we weren't even paying for her room. We were traveling together and had our reservations linked, but paying separately. I asked the CM if I could get the discount for my daughter, too, and she said yes. So I'm sure you can get the discount for your parents, especially if you are the one paying for it. ;)

The thing is that I am not going on this trip...I am simply booking the rooms for them. Can I call early on the cardholder release date and get the discount? The deposit was paid with my card. If not, then I will simply call on the public release date. Thanks!

Another one, not sure if anyone will know this:

Since they only set aside so many rooms for each discount, if there is currently no availability (according to the website) for the type of room and the resort we're currently booked at, does that mean we'll have to move to another resort that does have availability to take advantage of the discount?

This is my question too. I am trying to come up with multiple backup plans but it is hard to know without knowing the exact discount at each resort.

:hourglass I'm a newby and I have a LM room already booked (for like 11 months now) and I have been waiting for a discount or fd for the dates of 12/6 - 12/14 and I MAY BE TOTALLY OFF HERE but to check discount rates of different wdw resorts I went to the Disney specials area on the website and calculated with dates w/in sept. for both fd and room discounts to give me an idea - I'm hoping and praying that these discounts come out on Monday and I will see if my #'s are close....hope this helps....OR SOMEONE TELL ME THIS IS WAY OFFpixiedust:

question! I am looking at booking the VGF ( either renting points or booking through the website).

If I book through disney, will the RO discount likely apply? Or chances are it won't since it is so new?

I am tempted to book it since there is a room there and at least I would have it and could cancel if need be. I could then apply a discount if one came up, or just cancel the reservation if I could end up renting points.

Good news. I already have free dining, but there's only 2 of us so I believe a room discount (Yacht club) would be better. When I try to price this out for research for the week I'm there (Oct 24-31), the Disney site shows NO availability at all!!!
I hope they're just holding rooms for the promo. If there are truly no rooms, the crowds will be worse than the height of summer - Yikes!

Did you try searching day by day? I am having trouble with availability on Oct 25th. Anyone know why? We are going Oct 19-26 and that last night seems like it is going to be a problem. There is almost no availability in a deluxe resort for the 25th.

As far as I know, there's no way to check availability without clicking on each resort.

Nobody knows what AP discounts will be until they are released, so I would book with the GP discount if what you want is available and change to the AP discount should that be a better deal (and is available) when those are released :).

I would think you could have the discount applied on Monday, especially since the deposit has already been made with your card. Any card can be used to pay a deposit or pay a reservation in full and doesn't have to be a cc in the name of the lead guest or someone on that reservation. As long as you have the information on the reservation (confirmation #, names, etc), I'd call tomorrow. The worst they can tell you is that you can't do it, but I would be surprised if that were the case. Good luck :goodvibes.

It might and it might not. Since Disney releases discounts to fill rooms, some resorts/room types are not available under promos. It's hard to tell what will/will not be available ahead of time. The best thing is to have a second choice in mind just in case what you want is not available. With that said, if you have to choose a different resort in order to take advantage of a discount, it doesn't hurt to keep checking as sometimes rooms do open up later on :).

I'm not sure how the pricing seasons compare with Sept vs December, but if you wanted to price out FD for your dates, get a quote for the room + tickets without dining and that should pretty much give you a total of what it would be with FD. For a RO discount, price out the room and deduct the discount from that. If you would get a package using a room discount, just add tickets and DDP to that room total and that should get you pretty close to a package cost with a RO discount.

This is just my opinion as nobody knows for sure, but my guess is the VGF will not be included in the upcoming promo since they are brand new. However, I wouldn't say it's totally impossible as we never know what Disney will do. I would wait until the discounts are released to see if VGF is included and book at that time should it apply to your room type/dates.

I can see there not being much availability as fall is a popular time with the Epcot resorts so the BC/YC/BWI usually book up fast during that time. But, I wouldn't say it's impossible either, as anything can happen. Good luck getting a room discount when the promo is released :wizard:.
