Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

I'm so bad with numbers!! We are staying at Pop Oct. 12-19 with a package already booked (tickets, meal plan, room) I understand about having to undo the package in order to get the room discount, and I think I understand that the tickets will go up after I do that. Does anyone have any idea how much the tickets have gone up? Will accepting a discount actually make our trip cheaper if the ticket price is higher and it's no longer a package?

We're working with a TA since this is our first trip and we're clueless, but the suspense is killing me as I wait for her reply to all of my questions. Any ideas?:thumbsup2

You can add the room discount to your current package. The term "room only discount" just means that it is a discount for the room only, it doesn't mean you must book only a room. Tickets went up by about 3%. Adding a discount, even with the ticket increase, will still save you money. Good luck! :goodvibes

Thanks! I am also wondering how much it would cost to upgrade to a moderate resort. I've asked my TA to look into it. If there is availability and the cost is within my budget, I wouldn't mind changing resorts.

We are booked in a MK view at the Contemporary. I heard that the discount is only going to be 5%. Why would this view be only 5% but a lake view is 30%? If this is the case, I will change room views if available. We have a Disney Visa so I will be in touch with my travel agent tomorrow morning.

Discount types and amounts are based on Disney's needs to fill a certain resort or room type.

This is why discounts are hard to come by at POFQ, or the LM rooms at AoA. Those are popular choices and Disney has no problem filling them at rack rate.

This is probably the case at CR as well, I would imagine that the TPV is extremely popular, so no need to offer as much of a discount on those rooms.

sorry if this has been asked already...but do we know what the poly room discount is going to be? I cant find it. Thanks

The Room Only Discounts will run from September 29th until December 23rd, with blackouts during Thanksgiving week.

This could be available for booking August 1, with Visa holders getting in on July 29.

The Discounts vary depending on resort, and should be along the lines of the following (note: these are fluid and can fluctuate slightly after release):

5% off - All-Star Movies, Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah view and Club Level, Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas, Bay Lake Tower, Contemporary theme park view & Club Level, Port Orleans-French Quarter

15% off - Art of Animation suites

20% off All-Star Music, All-Star Sports, Contemporary (certain rooms), Grand Floridian, Pop Century, Polynesian

25% off - Ft. Wilderness Cabins, Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans-Riverside

30% off Animal Kingdom Lodge standard rooms, Beach Club, Beach Club Villas, BoardWalk Inn, BoardWalk Villas, Contemporary (certain rooms), Old Key West, Wilderness Lodge, Villas at Wilderness Lodge, Saratoga Springs, Yacht Club

As usual, some rooms, such as Little Mermaid rooms and Campsites, are excluded.

A word of thanks as well to Dave at **************. He and I have had continued discussions on this topic for some time and shared much insight on the Free Dining and Room Discount promotions both in September and beyond.

I am not sure if I am reading this right. Is it the general public room only code coming out tomorrow, or the disney visa card room only? Why am I thinking its August 1st for the general public room only code?

Thanks for helping

You're correct. August 1 is public, tomorrow is expected Disney visa.

I don't have personal experience with booking early with someone else's cc for a discount, but I don't think it matters whose cc it is. Any cc can be used to make a deposit, a payment, pay in full, etc. even if the card holder is not a guest on the reservation. I don't see how using your sister's Disney visa to get the discount is any different (but that's just my opinion). I understand that having a Disney visa and getting a jump on discounts is a perk of having that card, but if Disney doesn't require a payment to be made with a cc from someone listed on the reservation, then to me, this shouldn't be any different. The only thing is that your AAA agent has to call and check availability/have the discount applied as Disney will not discuss anything with you or your sister as AAA owns your reservation. With that said, your AAA agent would probably have to have the Disney visa card number as anytime I have used my Disney visa for a promo ahead of time, I was asked for the last 4 numbers on the card so they could verify that it was in fact the Disney visa. If your sister feels comfortable giving your AAA agent her cc number, I'd give your agent the information and have him/her call first thing Monday morning. The worst that can happen is that the agent is told it can't be done and you have to wait until Thursday when the promo is released to the GP. Good luck :).

Thank you for your input. I really don't think my sisters AAA agent is very well informed on the Disney vacations. I feel bad for my sister because she keeps on getting wrong information from her.... but then I set her straight because I get all my info from the Dis! Thanks for the good luck! :thumbsup2

So I will have to pay the higher ticket price when I add a RO discount to a package booked before the ticket increase? Sorry I just want to clarify. I am so confused.

Good luck to everyone calling in the morning. :goodvibes I'll be calling Thursday night after work, if the discount goes public that day. :) Can't wait to read reports tomorrow!!

Already have 2 rooms booked at POR for Nov. 7-12. I'm in Arizona so 3 hours behind right at the get-go! Opinions on chances if I wait until I get up, which is about 9am my time, so noon ET. Also, the 2 rooms were booked separately but I have both confirmation numbers. Can I change both of them or do we each have to do it separately?

Thanks in advance!! This is my first time trying to get a discount, sad we can't get free dining but we are staying DVC Nov. 12-18, and have APs. Just couldn't get DVC for Nov. 7-12.

whoa...only 5% at All Star Movies????????

Why not the same as the other all stars?????

I hv to work at 6am tm but plan to spend my lunch break in my car hoping to get a DV discount on my BC room for October. Keeping fingers crossed!!

You're welcome :goodvibes. It does sound like your sister got a AAA agent that isn't too well versed in Disney vacations, but good thing she has you to give her the correct information. I hope everything works out for you tomorrow :wizard:.

I wouldn't worry about calling later in the day. There will be people calling right at 7 a.m., which will also make the lines so busy that there will probably be long waits as well. I have called for discounts in the past a couple days after release and had no trouble getting exactly what I wanted ;).
