Sept. 7, 2012 - Magic NYC - Canada

P.S. BTW, after the weekend I've had I'm looking forward to our cruise... I haven't been on here much or on FB lately as my aunt is in the hospital on a ventilator where she may die any minute and I was hit by an employee at Michael's on Saturday with a fixture while shopping for more supplies for FE gifts in addition to me getting over my surgeries and my Reactive Airway Disease Lung Disease. So I wasn't on the computer much since Friday.

Also, I'm on 3 B2B2B cruises from September 2 - 17th so my head is spinning from just that. When I jumped on the laptop today I had 180 FB notifications total and I'm down to 125 so I'm taking a break from FB so that I can hit the 3 DIS threads for the 3 cruises I'm on.

And, in a different cruise group I had to write "so I'm really sorry for not being up on all the updates. So if I ask a question that is a repeat please be patient with me, ok? Thanks!" in response to someone getting frustrated that I lost track of their posted responses regarding needing their DISName either the Mother / Daughter Luncheon or the Roaming Gnome Events I'm hosting in the 9/12 cruise. So, like I asked them, I would be so grateful if you could please be patient with me. Thank you! :worship:

Thank you so much for the update as I didn't see those responses. :)

JillJill and the ALL of our cruise, I am super sorry that I confused anyone by requesting an earlier start time of the DISMeet to accommodate my severely disabled mother and myself who just had 2 surgeries in July and my lung issues where I almost died in February. I didn't think it was such a horrible thing that I did by requesting a broader DISMeet from 2:30pm - 3:45pm (which several people agreed would make life easier on them too) to accommodate *all* of us but appartently that broke a rule of discussing something that I didn't realize was not allowed to be discussed... "avoid any confusion and further discussion of times!" So, I'm truly sorry 9/7 Canada cruise thread that my looking out for my disabled mother broke rules and confused you. Please accept my sincerest apologies as I'm truly sorry. :guilty:

I love surprises. But most importantly I love giving surprises that they are going to love. So since you say they love ALL princesses. Do they have favorite colors? :rainbow:

I don't mean to bother you, but now we can't come at 2:30pm when you said you would be there early? My mom is very disabled and getting from one place to the next takes a while due to her using a motorized scooter but with crippled hands. So, I was thrilled for her that you offered for those of us who wanted to come at 2:30pm could, but now that option is taken away? I've already bought my mom this beautiful fuchsia orchid petal lei so that she would be surprised and feel part of the group.

Christa, I will still be there at 2:30pm, you can come at 2:30pm and anyone else who wants to can come at 2:30pm. The official start time is still 3:00pm, but anyone can come early. I hope this clarifies it for you and puts this to rest.

We were just planning on walking to the Avis location. It is somewhat uphill, but not too far. I think we could walk it faster than calling and waiting for a pickup.

Lauri

I had read that it is a steep grade uphill and a tough walk - I have feet issues and can do the mile, but the hill will be tough.

We talked to avis this morning and they said it is about a mile from the cruise dock. They said that they start picking people up at 8:30.

Did they mention do they have a running shuttle or do we have to call for pick up?

I booked Thrifty in Halifax but I'm not sure how far the hotel is from the cruise terminal (the car rental agency is in the Halifax Westin) We aren't sure what we are doing in Halifax yet (just booked the cruise yesterday) but I assume we will want a car.

Thanks, I will look into Thrifty - I did see another post where someone rented from them, but there fee was almost double what I got with Avis.

We are back from our mini vacation at the beach :beach: We had a nice time, oldest DD (who lives about an hour away at college) was able to come along. So we spent some quality time with her and youngest DD. It was great to be away, but I was happy to come home knowing that in a little over 3 weeks we'll be cruising :boat:

Time to get the excursions figured out - we still want to rent a car, but have to get the specifics down. Can't decide what to do in St. John's - have the riverboat booked, but not to thrilled with that idea - thinking we might just to the Hop on Hop off bus - need to make up my mind.

Have agreat day!

If we are able to make it we also will be at 2:30. Is pink a requirement for this meet? If yes there may be a few of my group not coming. Sue

Nora loves pink (big surprise). And everything is still new for the little one. I'm sure both of them will enjoy anything and everything they get :)

I know what you mean about wanting to give surprises that people love, though! I feel the same way, trying to come up with gifts for everyone else.

Thanks, pink is noted for Nora. And, I will come up with another fun color for the whole family :)

When we talked to Avis in Halifax. They said that we needed to call them. So if people are renting from Avis in Halifax and want to go together on the shuttle, we would be willing to do that.

We also rented a car from avis in st. John's as none of the excursions appealed to us. They too offer the shuttle service!

No it is certainly not a requirement. It's preferred because it just makes it more fun. But if it's not for you, that's fine. Just come for a drink and a chat.

We may consider this, I'll have to talk to DH. I really prefer to walk myself, as it's an early port and I won't get my run in that morning. If the uphill is really bad, this would be the thing to do.

We have no idea what we're doing yet in Saint John. My oldest DS is off to college tomorrow , so I'm concentrating on that right now.

:grouphug: Good luck - is this his first year? I have two in college - one in her 5th year living away at school and the other in her 3rd year (just moved home in February). I know how hard it is to send them off.

I also posted this on our Facebook page. I am making something for the cruise and would love to match up everyones real name with their Disname. Hopefully this way we will all know each others names when we are on the cruise. Also, if you could let me know the names of the people in your group. :goodvibes

I understand if you do not want to share - but as we are sharing a cruise together hopefully we can all get to know one another.

Just as an FYI - our group is:

me - Linda
DH - Sheldon
DSS(stepson) - Logan
my dad - Joe

Thanks,
Linda

Linda
