Sept 5 2010 "Labor Day Getaway"

Just bumping our board. It was looking rather lonely.:rotfl:About 5 months left. Hope everyone is getting their plans all set.:goodvibes

We just booked this cruise today. It's our 20th Anniversary celebration vacation so the kids are not joining us this time.

It's me (Christopher) and my DW (June). Her DIS name is junesgoofy.

This will be our 5th DCL cruise. We just returned from a 4-night Disney Wonder cruise over Spring Break (3/21 through 3/25) with extended family. For a family cruise, we thought it was too hectic and short and swore we'd never do another cruise less than 7 nights. To make the most of this short cruise, we plan to really relax and enjoy our time together on this cruise - no evening shows, no pirate night, etc. We do plan to take advantage of the adult-only areas of the ship and Castaway Cay this time!

On our recent cruise, we took the plunge and joined DVC! We'd been on the fence for years and decided it finally made sense for us. We're using some of our points for two nights at the Boardwalk before this cruise and plan to spend Saturday at our Epcot!

We look forward to meeting some fellow DISers.

Welcome and early Happy Anniversary! The first Disney cruise we went on was just my husband and I as a get away. It was really nice. I'll add you to our list. Less than 5 months left!!!:cool1::banana:

A bit :offtopic:

Well, hopefully I'll still be coming. Dave & I were going to go and apply for our passports this Saturday but tonight at work, my wallet went missing and inside was my photo I.D. that I need for the passport along with my credit card and my debit card.

Now, I"m really hoping that all of it is replaceable fairly quickly because right now the only I.D. I have left is a birth certificate and a Social Insurance card and that really isn't considered I.D. :hourglass

Wow, this really sucks! I definitely need that photo I.D. to get the passport because that's the number I put on the passport application form. :sad1:

So, tomorrow when the opening supervisor comes in she's going to look around for it. I have a hard time believing it was stolen because I really do trust EVERYBODY who works there and have never had a problem in 3.5 years. That's why I'm hesitant to report anything as missing yet, I'm hoping I just pulled a stupid move and left it someplace really, really dumb. I'm not sure WHY I would do that, but you know how it is, we've all been there from time to time.

So hopefully a new set of eyes will find it. I'll call the store tomorrow morning and see if they had any luck because I really don't even want to think about how long this is going to take to replace everything. :sad2:

Well, it turns out my wallet was, indeed, stolen last night. I contacted my credit card company and after investigating they found that someone had in fact attempted to use the card but were unsuccessful due to it being declined.

Now that I know this, I have cancelled all my other I.D. and have now started the process of getting it all re-issued to me.

I hope this doesn't take as long as it sounds. Once I get it all back, then I start the next step of getting my passport. I'm not very happy but at least I know they can't steal anything more from me. Me and my BF just don't have good luck at anything that has to do with the government, we always get delayed. That's why we wanted to get our passports early.

Sorry to hear that! Hope you get everything worked out timely.

Thank you! I contacted one of the places I'm awaiting I.D. from and they said it should already be on the way, so hopefully by next week I'll have something.

LOL, I don't even have access to my bank account because I had to cancel my debit card and I can't get a new one until I have photo I.D. It's funny, you need I.D. to get I.D. but thankfully one of my I.D.s is electronically encrypted and both my photo and signature are on file so as long as my mailing addy is the same they are able to mail it out to me. Now it's just a matter of waiting for it. Once I have it everything else should fall into place, hopefully. :thumbsup2

Good luck with all of that. I hope it doesn't take too long. Those dumb pirates.pirate: Did you figure out who stole it? It's sad when you can't trust others. We had to get a security system installed because of the crazy people that keep coming to our house. I feel so much better with it installed and turned on all the time.

Is anyone thinking about a sailing/snorkeling excursion in Nassau? :confused3 I have sailed before on a small sail boat and nothing beats it! I don't want a big ship, something small like 20 people. I saw one (not Disney) that is 3 hours and one that is 6 hours. I think the 6 hour one sounds better. I'd rather go with Disney but haven't even checked on the excursions offered. I don't recall one being offered on last months cruise to Nassau.

Just curious.:cool2:

No excursions for us in Nassau this time. That is the day that DS will be getting married. So lots of things to do. That's OK though, there's always next time.:rotfl:

We won't be participating in any of the excursions at either port- our last cruise was only 3 nights and we really felt like we didn't have enough time to do anything. This time we are going to take it slow and really enjoy what's available on the boat. We will disembark on Castaway Cay, but nothing planned. (unless they were hosting a 5 k- then I'd be all about it) :cool1:

Wow, I can't even imagine just 3 nights - we think 4 nights is too short! It's great enjoying the ship itself. On our 15-night cruise, we had 7 sea days plus one day on-board while we went through the Panama Canal.

On our cruise last month, there was a 5-K at Castaway Cay. They lined up at Deck 1 aft right at 8:30 am and ran the 5-K. I walked off the ship with them. It's my understanding that they do this on all the cruises now.

The only time we've done a preplanned excursion at CC was when my parents and I signed up for parasailing. I'd do it again, but I hate blocking time as it always seems like CC day is too short. CC is the only time I'd really rather be off the ship.

For this cruise, we plan to be at Serenity Bay instead of the family beach for a good part of the day and I look forward to the warm September weather again.

At Nassau, we really would like to partake in a water activity this time - preferably snorkeling and sailing. We stayed on the boat most of the time on our 4-night last month because it was raining most of the day. It would have been great had the sun been out. Instead, we spent time in the Cove Overlook drinking coffee drinks watching the rain. (I hope we can take our Cove Fanatic card back in September as we have a free drink with one more purchase). When the rain stopped in the afternoon, we did some shopping downtown for rum cakes, rum tea and Hard Rock cafe pins. We just think it'd be more fun to be doing something active this time. We really don't have much desire to visit Atlantis unless we just relax on the beach.

As an FYI, your countdown timer's not working. I think you need to use a link to the url vs copying it as image.

I think most of our time will be by the Adult Pool or Serenity Bay(CC) since we will be without kids. We both love to snorkel- but since DH doesn't know about the trip yet- this is his surprise 40th Bday trip- I don't want to plan to much since he has said he just wants to chill out whatever I decide.

So, any adults can join us by the pool daily or at a club at night!

and for FE- I forgot to add my information- Todd and Molly room 7010.

Not to long now!

Hey everyone! We're getting closer and closer!!:woohoo: Looks like so far we have 37 adults and 10 kids in our group, with about 16 cabins. I would like to start thinking about a meet. Does anyone have something special they plan to be doing on the day we board? I know we have to meet with the wedding coordinator, but I'm not sure what time. Is there anything else going on? Let me know so we can start thinking about a time and place.

I was thinking boarding day would be a good choice as well. I was also thinking that perhaps we could use that "secret" deck at the end of deck 7 as I suspect the rest of the ship will be a whirlwind of activity at that point. At least on that "secret" deck we can kind of stay out of everyone's way. What does everyone else think?

Btw, got my replacement I.D. just yesterday so we can finally go ahead with getting our passports in a couple of weeks. I just need to update my forms to reflect the changes. I'll feel SO much better once all of this is done. It's nerve-wracking!!

I'm not sure the secret deck at the end of deck 7 would work. That is where we're having the wedding and we've been told it only accomodates 20 people. I realize this would be sitting down, but we have 47 so far. What about Studio Sea? That would give us more room. It's inside but the only other place I see that might be a possibility is the Outdoor Sports area on deck 10. What does everyone think? We also need to set a time. What about 2:30? How would that work for everyone?

Studio Sea sounds fine to me, I'm pretty much open for time and place because we're driving and planning on getting there as early as possible.

Hi everyone the cruise sounded like so much fun we decided to join you'll. This will be our first cruise and we are very excited. Phillip - 45 Courtney - 40 Savannah - 6

We have decided to take the 7 night eastern cruise. Hope the wedding goes well and everyone has a magical cruise.

Phillip and Courtney, I don't blame you for skipping out on this short cruise. You will like the seven night cruise MUCH better. We are only taking this short cruise because we can't be gone from the kids for very long. Otherwise, I would never book anything shorter than a seven night. Have fun and enjoy those extra days and nights!:wizard:

It will be nice to relax and for that I am grateful even though it will be short.:woohoo:
