Oh by the way, I was sitting near Cindy when she got her konk koolers and if I remember correctly she had drank both of them within 30 - 40 minutes. I thought she was going to have that bartender running up and down the beach all morning! :rotfl2: That's ok after the little rain storm we made our way to Heads Up Bar at the end of the beach and took advantage of their 2 for 1 drinks. Not sure what I had - but it was good!

30-40 minutes. Gail, you are very generous. I wasn't sure I was going to even let Gary taste one after the first sip of mine. Gary rather quickly flagged the bartender down for our second round. He could have brought me the entire tray full -- that would have made me very happy. :teeth:

2 for 1 drinks at Heads Up. I may have to stop there next time! :cool1:

Lisa, I loved reading you recap. Your writing style is just as witty as your personality in real life. :)

Hmmm... and now to wonder... either I'm witty in both writing style and in person, or lacking in both.... :rotfl2: Thanks so much Cindy... it really was a pleasure getting to meet you in person. And we definitely need to look at taking the boys to WDW together in the future. What are the dates for your October trip with Cameron? Sam DOES have a week off of school next month... :rolleyes1

I actually had two. They were awesome. I could have easily drank about 100 more. Very smooth and went down with no problem. I would say the Konk Koolers were my most favorite drink -- and I tried a few. ;)

Now that's a true friend... you drank one for each of us! We actually spent most of the Castaway Cay day in the water, and I never had an adult drink (what in the world was I thinking????). Oh well, the missing drink experience just means that I'll need to cruise again to experience this wonderful beverage! :wizard:

Lisa - loved your report of the trip. It was fun running into you and your family during the cruise and I'm happy to report that I didn't hear any odd noises coming from your room :rotfl:

WHOO HOO!!! The gags did their trick! Ummm... I mean of course not, our child was the model of good behavior the whole trip.

There was an incident involving Damon and Bob and wheelchair racing down the hall one night and then raucous laughter in the rooms afterwards (this was on the night when the adult beverages flowed free and fast)... if you didn't hear that, then either DCL has soundproof rooms, or you guys sleep hard, or you were out "enjoying the ship" even later than us!

It was great meeting you also, and if we'd love to share a ship's wall with you in the future! :goodvibes

Hi All!

We got back on Sunday night, and were sad that the vacation was over, but glad to be home. I spent Sunday night washing clothes and repacking dh, who had to leave on a business trip first thing on Monday - talk about jumping right back into reality. :flower: We had a great time on the cruise, and really enjoyed meeting everyone we came into contact with. Sam and I enjoyed the cruise more than dh, who realized that he doesn't particularly like to be cut off on a ship. He did say that if he was going to go on a cruise again, this would be the one for him!

We haven't decided for sure about the 2006 Cruise, but I think that, realistically, we may pass on it. Sam traditionally has the week of Columbus Day off for fall break, so this would mean that we'd have to take him out of school right after they come back from break. Since he'll be in the 7th grade next year, I'm hesitant to do that to him - especially considering how much work he had to take with him this year in sixth grade. He's an honors student, but he gets stressed if he falls behind in his work, and it wasn't a lot of fun telling him he had to do homework instead of hanging out in the Lab! So, it looks like this cruise won't work for us for a lot of the same reasons that the 10 and 11 day cruises are no good.

Some thoughts about the cruise:

* For me, the best part of the cruise was the chance to meet up with some of the people from this board. My biggest regret is that there wasn't more time for us to all hang out together. I loved all of the door magnets. Thanks to all of you who helped make our door more "colorful" during the trip. Oh, and it was too funny - since there were so many DISers on our floor, by the end of the cruise, our steward knew who people were - I walked out of my door one day, and thought I saw Amy by Cindy's door, and said to myself, "Is that Amy?" Our steward answered and said, "Yes! That's her!" :rotfl2:

* For anyone thinking about getting pen pals for their children for future cruises, do it. Even though Sam's life got busy, and he didn't keep up with it as well as he should have, he really enjoyed having people on board who he already "knew". I think that some of the kids will keep in touch for a long time to come.

* I was overwhelmed by the generous spirits of so many of you. Mark and Mary, Cindy and Gary, Kay, John and Gail, Stacy, Amy, Diana

* If we have a say in the itinerary for the next DVC Cruise, I'd prefer that it NOT go to Key West. It just didn't do it for me as a one day excursion place. I'd rather go somewhere with better snorkelling/activities or just spend the extra day on Castaway Cay. I know that there are those of you that really liked Key West, but it was probably the most underwhelming point of the entire cruise (oh, and I was NOT impressed with the Trolley Tour - we had a great narrator on our original trolley, then got on a second one where the driver had the personality of a corpse... at least everyone got in an expensive nap. :rotfl: )

* Kermit's Key Lime pie was great. Their Citrus Salsa is even better. Thanks Food Network. :sunny:

* I was glad that we got a chance to hear Jim Lewis speak. He's a great public speaker, and it was enjoyable. We also had a chance to talk with him the first day on Deck 9 - we happened to sit a table away from his family, and his boys are around the same age as ds. Great icebreaker! His family was very nice and gracious, and his kids remind me of any other tween boys out there. ;)

* Ducky Williams was another highlight of the trip. I love the lithographs we received the last night. Now I need to see if there was a framing coupon in Sunday's paper from Michael's. I'm going to double mat the print along with a set of the pins from the cruise, and hang it in my office. It will work out great!

* The scrapbooking class was excellent - truly a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours, and I would do it again in a hearbeat. Thanks for all of your hard work on this!

* Thanks to all of those of you who wrote to me about the pillowcases. I'm truly touched that you liked them (yes, I was worried that you wouldn't!) and I hope that your children enjoy them in the future. I also want to take a minute to thank all of you who helped to defray the expense of the pillowcases. I couldn't have done it without you. In the beginning, I thought that I would be making a couple of dozen pillowcases. In the end, it ended up being slightly over five dozen!

* I wasn't really that excited when I heard about the 220 point giveaways for America's Funniest Home Videos... I wish I was going to the Annual Report meetings, because I have some serious questions about this. My biggest question is who will be footing the bill for 480 points plus dues for 47-48 years? If it comes out of marketing, that means that we're footing the bill for it. Since DVC is selling nicely on its own, I don't really see where DVC needs the marketing push. ABC, which is Disney owned, will be the ones who benefit the most from this IMHO, so I'm hoping that they will be buying the points and footing the bill for maintainance, and not those of us who own DVC. This also sets a presidence for point giveaways for other Disney/ABC ventures. I'm not sure if I'm happy about seeing things go in that direction...

* I don't know if it's always like that or not, but Shutters was a madhouse!!! I wish that they would go to a photopass card type of thing, or come up with a way to sort the photos by stateroom/table #. It would make things so much easier. We had some pictures taken that we never found (and others that we quickly threw into the "bin of disgust" :rotfl2: ). On the bright side, that was money in our pockets and not in theirs!

* I can't believe it, but I never got to try a Konk Kooler. But I did try out many other tasty concoctions. :goodvibes Oh, and if you mention that you don't like the banana in the Member drink (forget what it was called) - they'll mask the flavor with extra 151 rum. By the second drink, I forgot there was any banana in there to begin with. :cool1:

* We bought the wine package. I wouldn't do it in the future. Although the wine was good, we found ourselves preferring other adult beverages, and ended up taking two bottles home. Next time we'll just order by the glass.

Lisa

I vote for two days at Castaway Cay! Maybe they would let us pitch tents on the adult beach.....imagine that....................... :rolleyes1 Okay...maybe not a great idea with this group.

We could have them deliver fireworks to Castaway Cay and we could sit and Konk Koolers could be served as we watched them! And we could all be pirates to boot!

Okay.....guess I better quit planning the cruise.

However, I love the theme "Celebrating Magical Milestones" and I have marked my calendar for Dec. 3 at 7 a.m. my time!

Amy - count us in!

What if you set a deadline of October 1st for interest and then have all CD's sent by October 15th.

A great big thank you to Chris for taking on this project!
Ok, those dates are perfect.

Please PM me or post on the boards by 10/1 if you're interested in sharing pictures. Then, I'll send you my address and please have the CDs to us by 10/15.

Oh, and here's another thing. Several of us had talked before the cruise about swapping pictures. Well, Chris and I were talking to Mark about how we might go about this. We decided that the easiest way would probably be to have everyone copy all their pictures on a CD and mail them to one person. Then, that person can compile all of the pictures into either CDs or a DVD (for those that have DVDs on their computers). Then, we can mail them out.

Chris has offered to do this for our group, if you guys want. Let me know, and then we'll put a list together and pick a deadline date.

Of course you can count me in on this.
Downloaded my pictures yesterday now I just need to delete the ones that you look at go " What is that supposed to be?"

We are the same way. Need to weed out a lot of the pictures on the road and some others that just didn't come out on the ship.

I have it on good authority that Stacy took pictures of everything she ate. :cool1:

I had wanted to but somehow in the excitement, I forgot most of the time. I do have a picture of Walker's seconds on vegetables one night -- lots of mixed vegetables and corn on the cob in the shape of a Mickey head. :rotfl2:

Cindy, I have enough time between cruises this time to make you tie dye Mickey shirts too! After all, it's going to be a VERY long winter!

Amy,
Could you post or PM me the instructions for making these? Morgan loved the tie dye shirts and would probably have fun trying to make one.
Thanks!
Jenny

Actually, Diana made the tie-dye shirts for us. I sent her the shirts and she did it.

I really can't take credit for the technique, I got the idea here, the instructions are a few posts down from the picture in the thread. http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=826364 The only thing I did differently was I didn't actually sew the Mickey head into the shirt, and it still seemed to work fine. I just traced the Mickey head and then rubber banded it. Everyone wondered how I dipped the shirts into the dye so evenly, but the other trick is to use the squirt bottle dye. I just bought one kit in Michaels and had enough to do 8 shirts, plus I have a whole other set of dye that came with the kits.

If I sent this to DVC, they would probably BAN me from the next member cruise. And I sure don't want that to happen!! I took over 600 pictures....I'm sure there is one I could submit.

What a fun picture!

We've got over 600 pictures as well. Not sure any are worth sending in for the contest. Maybe the one with John and Deevee Cee if he'll let me send that one in. :)

When you guys all decide what you are going to send in I hope you'll share them with us here. Can't wait to see what you decide!

Let's see who is still reading the thread. Another GTKYKFC :)

1) What is the one thing you did that you didn't think you would on the cruise?

2) What is the one thing you didn't do that you thought you would on the cruise?

3) What is your favorite memory of the cruise?

I'm sure he won't mind his picture with DeeVeeCee being sent in! I think he's her biggest fan!!!!

At least she's not as forward as our Asst. Server :rotfl2:
