Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

Ok, so I have been away for a while trying to get all my work in order before the cruise. Are we having an office meet up tomorrow??

Hello again! Being local, we might be the only ones left who are at home reading DisBoards. We are meeting tomorrow in the Promenade Lounge at 3:05. I think there is a drawing in the spa right before so that's why we are meeting at 3:05.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. I am NOT packed. :scared1:

At Lihue airport. This is the first time I have not been utterly devastated to leave Kauai. Can NOT wait until tomorrow. We are sleeping near LAX and are hoping to get to the port early. We are on Hawaiian time so if we wake up at 7am it will be 4am... I will not only be the one with a fancy drink in hand but I may also be passed out on a lounger. :upsidedow

We are still not packed..... I just started looking at stuff. It is going to be a long night! :)

Anyone hear anything about the Wonder's dry dock?

Getting into bed having just watched World of Color from our room. Hoping that DD will settle!

Goodnight. See you in the morrow.

Sigrid

Just checked into our hotel. There is a big sign in the lobby with the Wonder on it (discussing DCL transfers). Soooo excited!!!... and not at all sleepy. The rum on the plane didnt help. Usually if I have only one drink I get tired. The excitement and the time zone change has me wanting to run out to the pool and swim laps!!!

I was up at 2am washing DD after being sick. Over tired, over excited and only eating junk food does not a good night's sleep make. She then went back to bed and slept in my t-shirt and is now running round our room asking to get dressed.

Awww! I wish my child was up and running around. He is refusing to get out of bed. He had a long hard(physically hard) last week. Normally he is the one running in circles. He makes my vacation morning happy.

Sorry to hear about your rough night! It is about to all be better!

We are on board now and the only changes were behind the scenes: wiring, welding, paint and a lot in the engine room. We haven't been on since january so we noticed new linen and new paintings in the stairwells..

Hi all!
You are sailing right now and I'm jealous!!!
We'll be on this cruise in February, and I'm hoping that when you get back next week you could post some great server recommendations on the main board so I can request a team that will be great with our family with 5 year old girl and 3 year old boy.
Thanks and enjoy your cruise! (as if you wouldn't!!!!)
:)

:)

We had Ike and Corinna. Both were absolutely wonderful with our kids. Ike did magic tricks every night for my 5 yo. Corinna picked my dd to limbo on pirate night. She is extremely outgoing and sweet. They worked very well as a team.

Anyway, I just wanted to come back here and thank Katy and Sigrid for all their help on our last day of the cruise. They both helped watch Meg at the pool so she could have a good time during her last couple hours on the ship. Then Sigrid came down and helped me pack while I cried.

I cannot believe that I feel so close to you all! Alicia, Katy and Sigrid: one of my favorite memories of the trip is sitting up with you all on deck 9 while our kids swam. You were all a great support as Andrew was being diagnosed. This is what I am missing right now. Your friendship. Really. I don't think I have ever clicked with families like I did all of yours! My dh agrees.

For those of who don't know, Andrew was taken off board in Cabo by ambulance for an emergency appendectomy. I posted all about it on the main cruise board. The short story, Disney is wonderful in these situations. Long story? Check out the main board. I am too tired to type it all out again.

He was released today and is with us at a resort in Cabo. We will fly home tomorrow. Disney took care of everything!!! Oh and you wouldn't believe this resort! Our room has an ocean view! Gorgeous! It has seven pools! I am just starting to relax and enjoy it now that Andrew is better.

Bad news. Wll had an allergic reaction to something he ate and had to be rushed to the same hospital Andrew was in. He was better within about an hour though after medication.

Miss you all!

Oh and Sigrid, we hope you were serious about coming to visit us!!! We would love to see you guys again. And, we will definitely get together when we are in az again!

Jennifer I am soooo sorry to hear about your son!!! I am on the other hand so happy to hear how GREAT Disney was with helping your family with everything. Did you guys have trip insurance or did you have to pay for hospital and hotel in Cabo out of pocket? Just curious because an emergency appendectomy could really happen to anyone.........

I am disappointed that I did not get to meet up with any disboarders, traveling with a party of 13 can really take up a crazy amount of your time:laughing:

Well this was not our first Disney Cruise but it was our first Disney Cruise with a large group of Friends and Family. Everyting went GREAT!!!
A quick overview of what we did in port.....
Puerto Vallarta - Went with Disney to Las Caletas, I really can not say enough good things about this getaway. Our whole group had a great time from the time we stepped foot on the boat ride over to the time we got off the boat after our boat ride back. The food was great, the activities were great, and the staff was great!!! One of the best Disney day trips yet.
After we got back we took the kids to kids club and the adults took a taxi into old town PV and walked around........not much to see at all but did end up gettting a yummy bite to eat and some yummy drinks....oh and on our taxi ride over we got to share a cab with a Disney Cruise celebrity......VITO and his wife. For those of you that don't know VITO was brough up on stage as part of Alfred and Seymores comedy act in the Walt Disney Theater........he was such a good sport:rotfl::rotfl:

Day 1 in Cabo - We had been there before with the Disney Panama Canal cruise and that time we did the beach resort getaway through Disney so this time I called the resort ahead arranged for our group to have a day pass directly through the resort it was half the price for adults and the kids cost a fourth of the price then what we paid previously through Disney. We took a taxi to the resot which cost $21 for ALL 13 of us and spent the entire day (12-6pm) NOT just a block of a few hours at the resort......our day pass also included ALL you can eat and drink (included ALL alcohol and non alcohol drinks) and for the eat part we could order as much as we wanted from the resort not just the buffet......in short it was well worth it to do this resort getaway on our own...........:cheer2::cheer2: You really do learn something new everytime you travel with Disney.
Day 2 in Cabo - Our group got an early start we had breakfast in Cabo and did some walking and shopping. Before we headed back to the ship the kids all did Parasailing........they had a BLAST:cheer2::cheer2:

ALL in ALL it was one of the best Disney Cruises yet.....but let's face it they are kinda of awesome!!!!:cheer2:
Here is a picture of our CRAZY group.....

We also of course booked our next cruise.....as of right now it looks like we will be heading our to the Western Carribean:cheer2:

Sooooo share, share what did everyone else do???

How funny LimoFam! We definitely saw a lot of your group in LOTS of the activities and such, and I had no idea you were the "LimoFam"! We were on the Las Caletas excursion with you. In fact, when we came into Wavebands that morning, you were the one who explained to us that we needed to go check in (and grumbled about how people kept coming in and not checking in and were holding you up...lol).

We loved Las Caletas too. My daughter had a GREAT time learning to paddleboard and we went on a kayak and just had a wonderful time enjoying the whole place. We loved the little monkeys and the macaws and it was just a beautiful tropical paradise, really!

I would post pictures but...well... I lost my camera Friday night. :sad1:
It's hard for me to even think about it or I start crying. I did have another camera with me so I do have a few pictures, but about 95% of them were on the camera that got lost. I bawled about it pretty much all day yesterday, but I'm trying to move on! lol

Anyway.... in Cabo we booked a snorkel/sail through [cabo sailing dot com] and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I highly recommend them if you ever go back to Cabo. The cost was $65 each and the three of us shared the boat with only three other people (plus the captain and his assistant), so it was pretty much like a private tour. They took us out to pelican rock to snorkel and then we sailed out into the Pacific for about an hour... then an hour back and a tour of the shoreline on the way back in. Oh and lunch and unlimited drinks the whole time too. It was fabulous.

Jennifer -------- I am SO SORRY to hear of all the problems!!! UGH!!!! You poor thing!! I am very glad to hear DCL was good to you though. I am going to head over to the main board now to read your whole story.

Thanks guys. Yes. We had travel insurance. They are covering everything. They made all of our arrangements to get back to MI. They are covering the portion of mthe cruise we missed, flights back home, our missed excursions, hotel in Cabo for four nights, food, rides for us back and forth from the hospital to the resort, everything. We were told by an officer on the ship that he doesn't see coverage that good very often.

Disney really took great care of us.
