Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

Limo fan!! We saw your group a lot too!

Lost in yonkers, I am so sorry to hear about your camera. That is always a concern of mine. Youn will always have the memories in your head! Did you order the cd?

How funny LimoFam! We definitely saw a lot of your group in LOTS of the activities and such, and I had no idea you were the "LimoFam"! We were on the Las Caletas excursion with you. In fact, when we came into Wavebands that morning, you were the one who explained to us that we needed to go check in (and grumbled about how people kept coming in and not checking in and were holding you up...lol).

Ohhhhh funny.....yes now I remember. I actually had just arrived right before your family and when you heard me "grumble"...lol, my husband and I were just explaining how alot of the first timers don't realize that there is a little check in process before the excursion gets going.......having been on several Disney excursions it is odd to me that they don't have someone right at the door directing traffic to check in as they come in, it would actually make the process a little smoother....:confused3 We have been on excursions where they make that final announcement and half the crowd pops up to check in.......
Anyway yes Las Caletas was a BLAST loved every tropical minute and I am happy to hear your family enjoyed it as well.
I am sorry to hear about your camera I would be sick with grief as well......When we were at Las Caletas our friend lost his underwater camera in the OCEAN.......my youger brother about 15minutes after the camera was lost went out to look for it and on his first dive down came back up with it so there may be hope for your camera......
Did you report it? I'm sure DCL will call if it is turned in and I'm sure if you lost it on DCL someone turned it in, Disney Cruisers are some of the most honest, helpful and nicest people you will meet.......my fingers are crossed for you

Thanks guys. Yes. We had travel insurance. They are covering everything. They made all of our arrangements to get back to MI. They are covering the portion of mthe cruise we missed, flights back home, our missed excursions, hotel in Cabo for four nights, food, rides for us back and forth from the hospital to the resort, everything. We were told by an officer on the ship that he doesn't see coverage that good very often.

Disney really took great care of us.

WOW I think in my four cruises with Disney I have only purchased insurance ONCE!!! NEVER again will I go on a cruise without, thanks to your story. Was the insurance purchased through Disney Cruise Line or did you use a outside company? If soooooo please share, I will be sure to keep them in mind for our next vacation.

ALSO if any of you can post pics of your travel party....I think it so much fun to see pictures and see if you spot a familiar face.????

I did. They had me fill out a form with all my contact info on it and I'm praying I'll get a phone call one of these days! Thanks for the crossed fingers!

Here's a pic (sorry we don't have a scanner... it's just a photo of a photo with bad reflection going on!) of us with Captain Jack. Did anyone else get a photo with him? He was hilarious. SO into his character!

I REALLY hope someone here will do a TR! My hubby and I will be going in December and are really looking forward to it!

Jennifer, I'm so sorry about what happened while you were on vacation  It's GREAT to hear that Disney handled it very well and took great care of you guys. I don't have trip insurance for this upcoming cruise, but now i'm rethinking that idea. Did you purchase your insurance through DCL? Can you tell me how much it was? i'm even wondering if I can still add insurance to my trip, even though it's already paid in full :confused3 Thanks for any help you can give me :goodvibes

First I would like to thank EVERYONE for the amazing FE gifts. My DS was giddy every time we went back to the room and it really added to the whole experience. I must say, you are all way more creative than I can ever hope to be (both with the ideas you came up with and the execution)! We were blown away. Some gifts we have already put into action (or eaten.. hehe) and others we can't wait to use! Again, thank you everyone for each and every gift, they are so appreciated. Note to future cruisers reading this: I am glad I brought the extra suitcase to bring my FE gifts in as it was completely filled with FE gifts when we left (we had 19 rooms and it filled a small carry on... think about bringing a bag or a suitcase for the way home).

Jennifer!!! I had no idea. I am so sorry your cruise ended that way. We heard nothing of this on the ship (though from your post on the main board it sounds like your DS's news made quite the impact... shot eh?). So amazing other DISers were there to help you out in your time of need! Hope your son is doing well and that he is receiving amazing medical care. Kudos to Disney for helping you through the whole process that is so much to take on by yourself. Hopefully your next trip/cruise is the most memorable (for all the right reasons) experience of your family's life.

Finally, I am completely land sick. It is like being sea sick (sans vomit). I have a hard time focusing, I am swaying uncontrollably, almost like I'm drunk. This happened on all my previous cruises (the one in 2006 was the worst due to the location of our room and the rough seas) but this is getting worse as the night goes on. Am I the only one??? (sorry if this doesn't make sense... like I said... I can't focus or read with comprehension for that matter). I don't get sea sick on cruise ships though... so weird.

Hi all!
You are sailing right now and I'm jealous!!!
We'll be on this cruise in February, and I'm hoping that when you get back next week you could post some great server recommendations on the main board so I can request a team that will be great with our family with 5 year old girl and 3 year old boy.
Thanks and enjoy your cruise! (as if you wouldn't!!!!)
:)

It might be tough because all the good ones are heading off to the Fantasy, including the one we've had for three cruises this year. Also, if servers are on now, they might not be on in February because their contract could be up and they would be on vacation.

There is one, Leo (not sure what country but I will get back to you), who is good and just moved on to the wonder after being on the Dream and Magic. He said he hated the Dream because it was too big and many servers were complaining because the galley was too far away from the dining rooms. It might have changed for the Fantasy, but he said he will stick with the Wonder. Another possibility is Stacey from Jamaica, who comes highly recommended.

Please post Navigator copies from this cruise ASAP. please, please, please:flower3:

I will as soon as I can. I'll take them to work were were have a copier that acts like a scanner and converts them to PDFs automagically.

I was like this after our very first cruise, the 2008 WB Panama Canal. Since then my wife can NOT go to the last show and starts getting upset when the luggage show up. I, myself, do get cruise blues, but it's a weird. I get home and unload the car and everything feels like a dream; like I'm not really home. If I take a nap and then wake up, things are fine. I did that today and it worked, along with the fact that the wife and I kept reminding each other that it is only 210 days to our next cruise.

I would post pictures but...well... I lost my camera Friday night. :sad1:
It's hard for me to even think about it or I start crying. I did have another camera with me so I do have a few pictures, but about 95% of them were on the camera that got lost. I bawled about it pretty much all day yesterday, but I'm trying to move on! lol

Were you the ones with the white board about the lost camera with a drawing of it? And other notes about Nacho Cheese?

Limofam--we went to Las Caletas too. DH and I did the cooking class (paella and guacamole) while the dds went snorkeling and had massages ($25/30 minutes)

lostinyonkers--I never saw you but did see your husband all the time. He makes AMAZING origami and even recommended a book to me.

Super*Mum--I am still swaying, sitting down even. Had to wear sea bands for the whole voyage because of the rocking of the boat. Didn't experience that on our last cruise. Must have been the storm.

Jennifer--Thank God you are all okay. My girls were asking about you all, saying your family just "disappeared." Now we know what happened. Hope your ds is on the mend and that you all get home safely.

aussiefan--we got loads of pictures of your family on our CD. Since our daughters had some photos taken together, the facial recognition software included your family pix with our family. When you get home PM me so I can send you a cd with the pix. :cool1:

Yukongirl--my dds had fun doing karaoke with Trevor!

Wideeyedwonder--thanks for teaching my girls how to PARTAY

(This is what happens when you go to Palo and leave your kids in the care of wideeyedwonder and co. Future cruisers, you have been warned :woohoo:)

Sigrid--Thank you for organizing the FE and the first meet-up!

Everyone--somehow we left one bag behind. Don't know if it is in the terminal or if we left it by the curb. Would appreciate any prayers for it's safe return to us. I have already contacted DCL lost and found and am waiting to hear from them. The bag included all of our dresses including those from formal and semi-formal nights.

We had a wonderful time and wished we had met all of you.

I am sharing our story with everyone I know. We booked insurance through Insuremytrip.com. We ended up with Travelex. Make sure you understand your insurance. Ours covered our entire family to stay in Cabo. Many insurances don't, we were told. Just make sure you bring a copy of the contact info or you'll have to call a friend to get into your house and get that for you at 3 am!!!

Get this! If Andrew had had to have this same surgery in the US, it would've cost us MUCH more out of pocket. The insurance company covers it all. In the US, we'd have had to pay quite a bit in co-pays!!!

Go to insuremytrip.com. Enter your information and you'll get a number of options. Call them and make sure you get what you need. We covered our trip for $12,000 and paid $188 (I have the info in front of me right now). We ended up with Travelex. They've been wonderful so far. They paid the hospital bill and we didn't even have to see it. They made our flight arrangements for back home. They even arranged for a wheelchair to meet us at the gate!!!! We'll see how they do reimbursing us for all the other expenses.

Thanks! I am also VERY land sick. I keep swaying. I'm not nauseaus, just dizzy!

YEah. We left in a HUGE hurry. I'm sorry we didn't get to hang out more! I pray you get your bag back! That would be sad to lose all of that!!!

lostinyonkers--I never saw you but did see your husband all the time. He makes AMAZING origami and even recommended a book to me.

Tomoko Fuse: Multidimensional Transformations of Unit Origami (in case you didn't get it completely on the cruise). I would link to it on Amazon but I'm too new to the boards to be able to post a link yet.

:cool1:

It was awesome meeting you. And thanks for the complement. My origami is not that amazing though. I stick with the 30 pieces of the exact same fold kind. Mine is more technical and not beautiful but it's still fun.

We were so looking forward to meeting you all and just couldn't find the meeting place we ended up at the spa. We were so disappointed.

So sorry to hear about your sons. I am glad to hear everything is turning out well your sons health, being able to recoup your monies etc. Sounds like you met some incredible people and we are sorry we we were so lost we didn't find anyone in time.

We had a great time and can't wait for our Alaska and Hawaii DCL.

You mention the "main board" where do I go for that. I am too looking for rec. on some great servers.

Were you a "Orange Goofy" tag, large black bag? If so it was with our luggage and was the only one left in the terminal. I hope you find it!

Everyone - we had so much fun & it was great being a part of this group & meeting you all (at least once). Was wierd how we seemed to run in to the same people everywhere. Thank you all who participated in the FE gifts, my daughter absolutely loved delivering the gifts just as much as she loved getting them.

We are tired!!!! But it was so worth it!

Thank you all for amazing FE gifts!! We were AMAZED at the creativity and thoughtfulness you put into your gifts! Put my gift to shame! LOL p.s. that was some of our wedding music :) I definitely now know as a former newbie what to expect. I loved meeting you all! We had an issue with our room FLOODING (deck 2 room 2122 for reference) an so we were moved into a verandah room :thumbsup2 but it took a little griping on my part because we were "hanging in the wind" for about four hours not knowing what was going on or what to do. Luckily Jen the manager at guest services took care of everything when I told her I wasn't pleased with waiting so long for an answer. They even paid for us to go to Palo, and cleaned our luggage that got wet. Besides that, our whole trip was amazing!! Loved that we got Lion King in :3dglasses, fell in love with our tablemates  we all exchanged info and are already texting and fb-ing each other :goodvibes I totally cried when we left our breakfast table and as we were the first to depart from our group our tablemates waved good bye from the 4th deck above the lobby and I totally lost it there! I'm getting misty just thinking about it!! :guilty: We truely bonded.

I KNOW!!!! I was actually going to call your room on Pirate night to see if we could meet. But, that was the night Andrew was taken for surgery.

This happened to us once! We were missing one bag. There was another bag in the area where ours was that was the last bag there and it looked a lot like our missing bag. We took the phone number off of that bag to call the owners - just in case. It ended up that those people realized they had taken the wrong bag and brought it back. But I wonder if someone just took the wrong bag? I hope it can be sorted out for you!!!

Oh No!!!!! Flooding?! I read that they did some work on the plumbing during dry dock. One of our showers didn't work (we had two rooms, so we had a second shower, luckily). They fixed it quickly though.

Jen was the woman who helped me the day we left the ship!!! She is on our very long list of people to write a thank you note to! She was an amazing support person.

I totally understand crying when leaving the ship! I cry every time.
