I really don't know much about Cuba. I just know a lot of people go there around here. They have beautiful resorts and gorgeous beaches. I think it's one of those places though that you pretty much have to stay in the resort and not go wandering off by yourselves. I think..cause..President Bush puts a ban on Americans travelling there, they treat Canadians and Europeans like royalty, cause they keep wanting them to come back since they are limited on tourists. My mother in law has been there several times, and she always raves about it, so I'm sure the newlyweds will have a wonderful time.

I was going to ask tonight when everyone is shoving off. We have a flight out Friday morning 23rd. So guess we don't win. But I have enouph hairballs so no thanks.
This board is going to be REALLY quiet next week as everyone trickels off to the big red boat

Deanna: I'm definately shoe shopping with Julie, and anyone else. We arrive at Key west around 12noon.

Julie: Now I must have a Miami Vice, never tried that one.

Didi have a good night :wizard:

Ingrid: You poor thing, you REALLY need this vacation too. Best of wishes with the wedding.

Well I got to go,
I will admit I;m a Survivor Show watcher and it the first night.

Talk to ya all tomorros :cheer2:

We're not out of Philly until 6:00 p.m. next Friday. Do we get the prize for the last ones leaving? Hope it's better than a hairball!

ONLY 1 WEEK NOW UNTIL WE LEAVE. I am SO excited I'm starting to lose sleep at night. Last night I was awake from 2 to 5 thinking about things I need to do, things to pack, etc. I used to keep a pen/pad by the bed to write things down so I remember them in the morning, but I couldn't find it. One of the kids must have taken it.

Well, it looks like post 3003 will happen this weekend? DH and I are heading to our cottage in NJ to put up some drywall and insulation so I won't be checking in. But I'm sure it will quite the celebration when that magical post happens.

OK, I hate to be the pessimist but I heard a little something on the Weather Channel about tropical depressions Phillip and Rita. We need a whole lotta dancing!!!!!

I'm sure Cuba is gorgeous like any other island in the Caribbean. Plus, imagine the food....it must be SOOOOOO good! Sounds like a great time.

Actually, that travel ban has been in place for over 40 years.

I just ran an internet search, and the most recent mention of discussion on lifting the ban was back in 2003. Bush didn't put it in place, but he's not keen on the idea of repealling it.

According to what I found out, you can still find chartered flights to Cuba out of Miami... but you have to obtain permission from the US government to take one. That usually means if you're not a journalist, a humanitarian worker, an academic researcher, or a Cuban-American you're not likely to get said permission. One could fly to Cuba by way of Canada/Mexico or another country, but there is still the possibility of being fined by the government.

Personally, I'd be in favor of dropping the ban even though I have no desire to see the place.

Morning everyone--

My big pre-cruise fear has come true....yep, I have a cold....at least it happened now instead of next week! The good news is I should be better before the cruise starts :)

Hi everyone!!

Deanna - I got the number and thanks again for the shirt DD Loves Puppies too, and remember its not the price its the thought, and your welcome about the call to DCL

I knew DiDi got up to early to stay up last night...lol :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am leaving at 9:30am on the 22nd so less than a week to go now, I am so excited but have so much todo.

Ingrid - I can't imaging how much you have on your mind, but my wedding day I ware my Kitty slippers my mother wanted to kill me but it made every one laugh so I am sure the Winnie the Pooh curtian will relax everyone. Have a great Wedding and have fun.

Newbie checking in... I'm still here - just 'lurking' as they call it.

David - tks for the weather post! I'm hopeful but did hear about the tropical depressions. I second that - MORE DANCING!!

Deanna, Julie & Jamie - sounds like your all booked for Stingray City on GC. Did you book thru Disney or direct thru Captin Marvin's? Does anyone know whom Disney uses if you book thru them? As you might have surmised - I booked thru Disney but I'd be great if we were all going together. My kids told me they wanted to do this but now my DS 5 is freaking out. :scared1: I'd be great if there were people I knew on the boat to keep an eye on my DS 7 who will happily swim (great swimmer at that) with the rays while I'm tending to my DS 5 who will be having a fit ON the boat! :headache:

Jamie- Nope, I think I win. :earboy2: We leave at 7:50AM on Sat morning to fly down. I wonder if I'll be the last to leave as well. Unfortunately my flight doesn't leave until 7:50PM on Sat 10/1 UGHHHH!!! :sad2:

Christine

One week from tomorrow! WOO-HOO!!!!!

We're probably going to be among the last to get down there -- we're heading out from here in the middle of the night on the 23rd. Driving at night to Disney is a habit we picked up when it was just Season and myself heading down -- it's less traffic and since we take turns sleeping we don't spend a full day of our vacation just in transit. :cool1:

BTW, Mac now has a new suitcase. Apparently he saw one in Wal-Mart yesterday, started pulling it all over the store, and wouldn't be parted from it. He even was playing with it at home right up till his bedtime... so if you see a 2-1/2 year old pulling around a rolling Spider-Man suitcase it's probably him. :rotfl:

Now we just gotta get him a costume for Pirate Night... drink up me hearties yo-ho! :drinking1

Oh, almost forgot:

The "No Hurricane Dance!"
:cool1:  :cheer2: :dancer: :thewave: :dancer: :cheer2:  :cool1:

The "Show Me The Passports Bounce!"
:Pinkbounc :bounce: :maleficen :jumping1: :hyper: :yo-yo: :jumping3: :jumping2:

And let's not forget -- THE BAND!!!
:rockband: :charac2: :rolleyes1

Deanna - I heard about the 2 people on Survivor that are from Kansas. Are they on the same tribe? We don't have a house sitter that we are paying, but our friend is staying at our house for the week - for free! (And we know how I like that word.) He was willing to come look after Molly (our cat :cat: ) and watch t.v. and eat so we're good to go!!

Ingrid - I bet Cuba would be a great place to go! I love to travel anywhere, I would love to go to Cuba. Add it to my list! I hope they have a wonderful time together! :cloud9: Good luck tomorrow!! I don't know why I am so excited, but I am! :goodvibes Take tons of pictures!

David - I couldn't read the weather report. Can you give me the idea of it?

Jamie - Looks like a no hurricane dance is in order:

NO HURRICANES, NO HURRICANES, NO NO NO HURRICANES!

:charac2: :dancer: :charac2: :dancer: :charac2: :dancer: :shamrock: :shamrock: :shamrock: :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

There, that should do the trick.

smilingmouse - You should consider yourself lucky you have the cold now with time to recover before you get on that ship! Last time, I got a cold on the airplane to Orlando. I was so MAD! I couldn't taste much of the food until the last night. I was disappointed, but look, we are going again! Woo-Hoo! Get well soon!

Partyelf - Deanna and I booked a stingray excursion through Capt. Marvins. Kim, David and others I think did, too. They are doing a longer excursion than we are. I think they are others doing stingray city, too. I just can't remember!

Uncle Servo - We'll be looking for a spiderman suitcase. Jack fell in love with his Buzz Lightyear suitcase. I know the feeling. It was "his" before we even bought it! I guess I didn't realize until now that Mac and Jack are pretty close in age. When will Mac be 3? Jack's b-day is in Dec.

Off to check weather report so I can worry some more...

1wk from today we will be on our way to the airport.....WOOOHOOOOO :cool1:

Christine: There are 2 groups here linked for Capt Marvins Stingray. David, DiDi and Us. Julie& Deanna. If there are others I can't remember at the moment.
We are flying out of MCO Sunday morning the 2nd. DO we will for the last ones out???

We are having changes in our weather so I've been battling migraines this past week. Its the change in barametric pressure in the air. I'm hoping they go away for the weekend....SOOO much to do.

No Hurricane dance :jumping1: :jumping1: :dancer: :dancer: :rockband:

Good Morning all! I realized this morning while Baylee and I were eating scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast that 1 week from today we will be having breakfast at Chef Mickey's!!! ::MickeyMo Much better than my scrambled eggs. I was so excited I had to call my husband and remind him too. We are leaving at 8:50 am on the 22nd. We are eating dinner at O'Hana's next Thursday night and hope to catch "Wishes" while we are eating. Then Friday it will be off to Blizzard Beach after Chef Mickey's. I guess you can call it a mini practice vacation before the vacation.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Took this from Florida Sun-Sentinel site:

Tropical Weather Outlook...Corrected

Statement as of 5:30 am EDT on September 16, 2005
For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Ophelia...located about 40 miles east of Cape Hatteras North Carolina.

There has been little change with the tropical wave located about 600 miles east-southeast of the southern Windward Islands. However...this system still has the potential to become a tropical depression over the next day or so as it moves westward or west-northwestward at around 15 mph.

Showers and thunderstorms continue a couple hundred miles north- northeast of Puerto Rico. Upper-level winds are not currently favorable for development...but could slowly become more favorable over the next couple of days as the system moves slowly westward.

Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through Saturday.

Mac's is in December too (the 20th)! What day is Jack's? :cool1:

I was going through some old pictures last night to use in some more magnetic sign thingies (yep, already addicted to it... ;) ) and I came across some of Mac when he was born. It's already hard to believe he was ever that tiny.

Meant to say - I like your "Finding Nemo" sign in your sig.! Too cute!

Thank you! This was an alternate idea for the 'big sign' on our cabin door, but it didn't pass inspection last night (that's okay, I also like the one we finally settled on). I figured I might as well slap it in the sig.

Aww.sorry to hear, smilingmouse. Drink a lot of chicken soup, and get a lot of rest. (I'm just a natural mother, I guess) :)

We are all going through the start-of-school sore throats and running noses, but I amended that right into the itinerary. I fully expected us all to be sick with a cold before we go. Nothing that some good cold medicine can't fix.

Well, folks. I'm just waiting for my Princess Bride to show up here and we are going for a mother/daughter pedicure. Then I have to whisk off to the flower shop to pick up a sprig of baby's breath for Channi, as she will have them weaved in her hair tomorrow.

And then later today we have rehearsal at the church, rehearsal dinner and set up the reception room.

And...wahoo! Got a call from Sears! My blinds are in!!
