As soon as we found out I was going to have a baby in December, I told everyone that these are TWO separate occasions - Bday and Christmas! No christmas paper on bday presents, no "doubling up". No Christmas cards as bday cards. I don't know why I was so upset about this - I have an Aug. bday so I've never had any problems!

Onto a very important topic: SHOES!

So, we don't get into Key West until 11:30 am. and the sandal shop is only open until 3 pm. I origionally thought this would be one of my first stops in Key West since it's so close to the dock, I was wondering if we would just meet somewhere on the boat before we got off. But I don't want to leave anyone behind that wants to go shoe shopping! The more, the better! :grouphug: Anyone have any ideas? Maybe we could have 2 separate shopping excursions. One for those who will be going immediately and the other for those with other plans first - excursions, etc. - and then want to shoe shop later??? I have no idea. I am bad at planning things! :guilty:

I guess it will depend on what time folks excursions are done. For those of you who are doing excursions what time do you think you will be done?? We can get a concensis and then try to make a plan. For those of us who have walkie's that may help too to reconnect while in port.
Julie I'm counting on you to direct me I don't know where Kino's is. I'd be like those hopeless people in Deanna's Story :bitelip:

Hi everyone,

One Friday from now we will be on our way to Orlando to link up with the cruise the next day. is it just me, or is there an air of unreality about the thought?

Back soon.

:moped:

Uhhhh Huhhhhh ::yes::

Thanks David for the movie info: My dd's have been waiting to see Herbie so that would be good. But I'm really hoping they show the new Disney film coming out "The Greatest Game Ever Played", with Shia Laboffe. Looks REALLY good.

Thanks, everyone for the good health swishes...I'm happy to say that I'm feeling a bit better....I should be good as new by next Saturday!

Party Elf--thanks for the suggestion...I might do that if I don't feel better in a few days...

Ya know, ladies, shoe shopping is dangerous...good thing I'm bringing an extra duffle bag :)

We have no excursions planned on Key West. So we are open to go anytime. Just let me know!

Well, my hair is highlighted, my toes are manicured, I've started to pack! I just can't believe it is here! Even my DS11 is having trouble sleeping at night. He is just so excited! He keeps dreaming about it. Too cute. I'm glad he's excited. For all this time and effort, I sure hope they have fun!

Marsha- Thanks for thanking me for the shirt. But I'm not the one who purchased them! I'll be happy to take the credit though!

We're not as chatty tonight. Everyone must be packing and watching the weather reports!

See ya. Deanna

Here is a pic of my sister-in-law in case any of you see her at Ron Jon's or at port! Then you will know who you are looking for! Her name is Lori.

Julie the shoe travel planner..............if we go to the sandal place, how would we get there? Are people taking the conch train, or bond island shuttle, or walking, or what?! I don't really have a plan on this island. So I am flexible.

Ingrid- I'm sure thinking of you! The wedding is going to be fabulous!

From: Daily Dose - Drink your vitamins

...a recent Associated Press article, along with a summary of some research from Japan, Harvard, and the University of Scranton showing the following:

- Average per-day antioxidant consumption from coffee tops 1299 milligrams for the average American, from 1.64 cups of java daily (not nearly enough, if you ask me). The closest other sources were tea at 294 milligrams, and bananas at 76 milligrams. Corn was a distant 5th at 48 milligrams.

- People of both sexes who drink coffee every day enjoyed 50% less risk of developing liver cancer than their non-java swilling counterparts. This protective benefit INCREASED the more cups per day of coffee consumed.

- Compared to non-coffee drinkers. A 6-cup per day coffee regimen (8-ounce cups) cut the risk of type 2 diabetes in adult men by approximately 50% and in women by 30%.
I just got this in the email a week ago, and thought I should share it with my fellow coffee addicts.

I've always found that cup of coffee has a soothing effect when I feel a cold coming on. Now it seems that the benefit might be more than just from the hot water.

This is that last week when you don't want the cold fairy to sneak up and ruin your vacation.

I took the remedy to heart...

now if I could just get some sleep... :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Ingrid ~ You (and your brother) are in the prayers Didi, Patrick and I say each day. :grouphug:

Last September, as we prepared for our Animal Kingdom Lodge vacation, my Mom took a turn for the worse. We questioned our vacation plans, but Mom insisted we go. When her energy picked up a little we were relieved, and decided to go, even though it meant arriving at AKL hours before Hurricane Jean. We spent that week (hurricane and all) building precious family memories we will carry with us always.

Mom held on until March, and then stepped across the Great Divide to celebrate her 85th birthday in Heaven with her Mom and Dad. I'll miss her until that day when we meet again. She understood that the things we do with our children when they are young become monuments in their lives. I can tell you all about our family visits to Cape Cod when I was a little boy. I hope 40 years from now Patrick will be telling somebody about the wonderful trips we took together to Disney.

I think I took my own coffee advice too seriously. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Dennis - Here's the link to the most current group info http://www.umsl.edu/services/public_affairs/groupsort.pdf
Christine and kwork1 - it's the same as the one I emailed you.
Ingrid - keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Certain that the wedding is going to be lovely :flower:
Julie and the shoe shoppers
- Maybe I could just meet y'all at the store when I'm done, our excursion shouldn't be much more than an hour :goodvibes We're heading to St. Mary's, Star of the Sea to visit the grotto and the chapel
Bill - I've shared this on another thread, but it kinda goes along with what you said 'bout doing things with the kids while they're young.

She asked today, if we were going to cuddle on our verandah again. :)

Our first cruise last year.
A week before we left, DD broke her ankle and was in a swimming cast.

Early, early our first morning at sea, my daughter had awoken and needed help to the head. She slept in the ceiling bunk the whole trip and never had problems going up the ladder, just a couple of times needed assistance coming down. So I got up to help her.

After using the facillities, she asked, "Mama, can we go sit on OUR verandah?" I nodded, and we walked around the crib out to our private space, and cuddled on the chair. We watched a shooting star and made a wish. We whispered about the wonder and awesomeness of the ocean, how it was scary and pretty cool, too. She asked if that was what God's love was like, big and powerful, but pretty. She whispered about missing my Dad who had died the year before, and how he must be an angel up there in the stars. And then she snuggled into my neck and fell asleep.

Looks like we're not too far away from the posting goal :)

ok, it's 1:36 a.m. here! Does that mean that I beat Didi?!?

I haven't been up this late in a long time!

Well, I'm thinking that if those of us who are not doing planned excursions met on the ship and went sandal shopping, by the time we got there and finished up, we would still be there by the time bpicard9 got there. About one hour later, right, bpicard9? Does that sound ok? We could meet on ship somewhere and get situated. Travel to the Kino sandal shop (yes, I have directions somewhere) have a look-see and get us some sweet, sweet sandals. So there will be several of us, it may take a bit. We should still be there by the time bpicard9 got there. Yes, no, maybe?

Kim - No worries! I will be your shoe shopping guide! :teeth:

Deanna - Pretty sure Kino is in walking distance. Oh, and I got a cut, highlight and pedi today. Woo-Hoo! I feel good! Looking forward to the trip. One week from exactly right now, we will be in our hotel room sleeping, dreaming of our fabulous trip! :cloud9:

I am TIRED!
bpicard9 - What a sweet post. It is so cute! :goodvibes

Good Morning, :sunny: :cool1:

I'm going to get my coffee now. I have so much reading to do on the post. My DH woke me up from my beauty sleep earlier this morning to tell me he posted. I could have hurt him, but I just rolled over and mubbled in my pillow, I must sleep!!!!

Next Saturday we will be getting up in our hotel room to get ready for the limo to take us to the Magic. How many more days? I'm not counting, :hourglass if I do I'll just get stressed out. :hyper: :hyper:

I'll be back, really soon......

Didi :grouphug:

Hi All less than a week and I will be in FL I can't wait.

Okay don't tell DH but I canceled the Key West excersion was afraid I miss the sandal shopping so I am on for the early shopping. I told him it was the Trolly was going to be too long for DD but we could take her to the Aquarimu and do it at a slower pass after the shoes of course.

Today is hair, nails and toes me and DD. Three and she already love the beauty palor, I think they love her too.

Chat soon.

Jamie a few pages back I thanked Deanna for the shirts you purchased, I just get so confuse. I should paymore attention to the thread and not work :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: But Jamie thank you. Deanna thanks for letting me know.

NO HURRICANE DANCE

:cool1: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce:      :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :cool1:

I know not the best dance but my other icons don't want to come up.

Have a great day.

I've got to be out of the house in about 30 mins.

List of things to do today:

BJ's run-got to get the coffee beans
Walmart run- needles, thread, film, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. etc.
Bob's Store - new sneakers for me
Dry cleaner- pick up suit's for trip, drop of pants
Merril Shoes w/Patrick to get a pair of dress shoes.

Leave by 12PM, the 2PM appt. for the deluxe pedicure.

Thursday night is the nails, my nails won't last that long if I get them done today.

Hair was done last Saturday, the partial highlight and cut. My curly hair goes into shock after it's cut, it takes about two weeks to become normal. This reminds me I must pack my straightout shampoo and creme along with the hair gel.

I'm doing the Champagne brunch for my BDAY on Sunday, I think I should be done by 12PM when we get to KEYWEST. Now, someone may have to lead me by the hand for the shoe store after my BDAYdrinking. :drinking1 Any volunteer's? I can blame the champagne on my spending spree. :rotfl: :rotfl: Any of you ladies who would like to contribute to my BDAY experience may buy me a pair of new sandals. ;)

Hopefully, I'll have my new Driver's license prior to leaving. You should see the new pic, it's terrible. :scared1: I had to wear my glasses and my hair was so curly and frizzy. :scared: Gosh I wish I could burn it!!!!!

We'll I must sign off now. Be back soon. :wave2:

Deanna are you up yet? :cool1: I gave up on Julie and Kim. :rotfl:

Princess Oliva - I'm from the South Shore too. Where abouts are you from? I'm an Easton chick. We are flying out on Friday night at 6:50PM on Jet Blue. Are you flying Jet Blue and when? If you are going out Friday night, maybe we can meet up and introduce ourselves. :wave2:

Gotta Go. :moped:

XXXXOOOOO :grouphug: Didi :wizard:

I "Googled" the term, "Tortuga", for some history on Grand Cayman, and came up with the following link:

http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Garden/5213/

One of the links was called "Pirate Joke"

An able-bodied seaman meets a pirate in a bar, and
they they take turns recounting their adventures at
sea. Noting the pirate's peg-leg, hook, and eye
patch the seaman asks:

"So, how did you end up with the peg-leg?"

The pirate replies:
"We was caught in a monster storm off the cape and
a giant wave swept me overboard. Just as they were
pullin' me out a school of sharks appeared and one
of 'em bit me leg off".

"Blimey!" said the seaman. "What about the hook"?

"Ahhhh...", mused the pirate, "We were boardin' a
trader ship, pistols blastin' and swords swingin'
this way and that. In the fracas me hand got chopped
off."

"Zounds!", remarked the seaman. "And how came ye by
the eye patch?"

"A seagull droppin' fell into me eye", answered the
pirate.
"You lost your eye to a seagull dropping?", the sailor
asked incredulously.

"Well..." said the pirate, "..it was me first day with
the hook.."
pirate:

Yip, Didi. I was up at 6:30 a.m. You would be proud of me. Just too much to do today!

Marsha- what excursion did you have on Key West that you cancelled? Maybe you could still do it on your own.

Shoe idea sounds grand to me!

bpicard9- Precious story. But it sure makes me regret being a lowly! I need a verandah. Come on, Disney, give little 'ol me an upgrade!

See ya. Deanna
