Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

Helloooooo AZ Pirates! Your inbox is full and I can't leave a message -- can you PM me your DH and kids' names? I'm finishing my FE's soon and won't be able to personalize them without the names... thanks!

:thumbsup2 Nice positive spin Gary! I'm more than happy with the line-up on our cruise. We have at least one Cars nut in the house.

We caught the trailer for Planes from Pixar. I can't wait for that and the boys are so excited. I also saw a new Tinkerbell movie coming out too, which looks beautiful.

Sandra - that's a heck of a long time to be in a splint without casting. I hope he's not in too much pain and they immoblised it well for him. You can get all sorts of waterproof contraptions these days for casts. Fingers crossed your grandson is way too busy with all the other activities onboard to want to get in a pool anyway.

JSG - I told Oli about the ray gun and he was most statified but cautioned it just had to kill the thing, not blow it apart as it could be good eating. :rotfl2:

Gail - what was the final count for the postcards please? I'm hoping to get to the shops this weekend.

Okay people - we got a little sidetracked here with giant prawn attacks... is there a postbox and place to buy stamps to all nations on the Wonder?

Small people problem 8 sleeps out from flying... both boys have swollen tonsils, bunged up ears and swollen glands. :scared1: They have been put on anti-biotics and are getting checked again next week. I hope it's not what I had, that took over 15 days to come right from. They look and sound completely normal but I knew that they weren't 'right'.

Oh no...I hope they are feeling better soon. Kids bounce back so much quicker than we do so hopefully that will be the case here too :thumbsup2

Hum, I don't remember there being a mailbox (postbox) on the ship. And if they do take the mail, it would still probably be postmarked from CA. I would suggest they buy postcards on the ship (they have a lot to choose from) and then mail them from San Francisco to get that postmark :thumbsup2

That's fine, that will keep all the last minute stalkers on the other cruise:rotfl2: Still looking forward to all the other Pixar stuff especially the artwork:thumbsup2

True, True!!

I thought the guy who was part of the design team for Carsland sounded really interesting too.

Stamps/Postage - BigDisneyOE, I would stop at at post office while you are in S.Cal before the cruise. A postcard to New Zealand is $1.05 Maximum size 6" length x 4-1/4" height You can check other destinations on the usps.com site. I think all international postcards would be $1.05 US. Ito send it within the US it is less.

https://store.usps.com/store/browse...d=S_470040&categoryId=subcatS_S_45cFirstClass

It is 45 cents in postage, but sure would be cute on your DCL postcards!

ETA:

Within the US:
First-Class Mail® Postcards
Maximum size: 6 inches long by 4-1/4 inches high by .016 inch thick
$0.32

First-Class Mail® Large Postcards
Maximum size: 11-1/2 inches long by 6-1/8 inches high by 1/4 inch thick
$0.45

Does DCL have an Art Auction on board? I wonder if there would be special Disney Pixar items?

I'm not too upset that John Lassester isn't on board, that lecture would be jam packed and things on the ship might be crazy etc. The other speakers seem interesting as well.

You can go to Guest Services and they will mail your postcards out for you. I even bought my stamps from them. I believe they send them out each time they are in a port.

They did on my last (And First) Wonder Cruise. I am assuming that there will be some Pixar stuff this time...

One of the things I read about these cruises is that there will be a lot of Pixar art available for auction. There's a hallway along the port side on deck five, I think, that has all the art that's being auctioned. Some really great stuff usually, and the Pixar stuff should be even more fun.

So sorry, I haven't been on the Dis at all lately. I went in and cleared out my pm box a bit, your message came through, and I just responded. :thumbsup2

Now to catch up on this thread. I can't believe tomorrow is September and we're counting down in days. Yikes!

Postcard Exchange - we are at 9 cabins. Sandracox67, jetskigrl, BigDisneyOE, 4boons, gunka, dennisbryce, GromMom, glindamood and AussieMumma. Anyone missing? Sounds like if you are not here - raise your hand. I didn't get any other replies to my request for PM's so the list has officially closed.

MIA again - and heading out to Ohio in the morning so no internet until Tuesday when we return. I have got to get back in a routine that includes the DIS - I may be having withdrawal symptoms. Work is crazy and time is just flying by - I am getting the feeling that the next thing I know, I will be sitting on a plane leaving LA! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

So, welcome to those I have not said that to. Purchased our Trolley Tour tickets online today for SD so just the shuttle from the airport to GC and we are ready. I hate spending my money before I absolutely have to but the tickets are printed and it is done. My guess is the office will remain super crazy for the next several months so I need to devise a plan to not feel this way and I am not all stressed out when it is time for me to leave for this trip. Not going to happen (yeah, who am I kidding??).

Everyone have an awesome holiday weekend and I will check in when I get back.

JSG - thanks, we are loading the kids with antibiotics and they 'seem' okay but I don't want the tonsils or ears getting any worse than they are.

Atmail35, JSG and socababy - thank you kindly for all that great postal information. :) Certainly means Alex won't be sending his girlfriend a postcard every day on holiday!!

Gail - perfect timing, I'm heading to the shops and will get the kids involved in picking cards.

Well on the back of the tipping converstation last week I sent DH out to get some more US cash. I asked for a grand and asked him to get some small bills for tipping. He came back with a pile of notes the thickness of half a house brick... 100 in $1 bills, $500 in $10's and $400 in $5's. 100 one dollar bills?! :faint: I raised my eyebrows so they almost shot off the top of my head. DH pokes the notes and says 'well I guess we are going to be ordering a lot of room service on the cruise'. ::yes::

Were you on the Aug 24 cruise? If so, we were on that one as well with 6 days at WDW prior to the cruise. The unpacked suitcases are glaring at me. I know I need to get started on laundry knowing this cruise is just weeks away. It will be just dd and I and she is very excited to be going on a girly trip without her brothers. The Dream was beautiful but large! Five nights just isn't long enough so I am looking forward to 7 nights on a much smaller ship!

Yes we were on dream aug 19-24 , myself and my four boys .. Did 3 days prior and 4 days after at Disney .. Just got unpacked today and started sorting for this adult get away in 23 days !!

I agree 5 days was too short !!! I dream
Of the 14 day Hawaii cruise but just can't get that time away as couple ! Really looking forward to the ports on this one ... We LOVE San Francisco

Oh, no worries. For the amount of time you will be in the US, you can easily go through 100 $1 bills ($4 for popcorn, $4.25 for ice cream, etc). It is good to have the small bills for tips, etc. :thumbsup2

Yay, we are into Sept now. Time will get away from us now.....omg so much to do rofl...

Matthew was a kick yesterday...first day his wrist was not really hurting alot and he was bouncing off the walls he was so excited for his party. Finally 6pm came and boys started arriving. omg the noise level in the house was enough to set it off. hee hee He made sure everyone was quiet when he opened his presents though...so they could hear him read the cards in all of his "voices" :rotfl2: If they talked he would stop and stare at them. Matthew is such a kick......

I bought Pixar Stamps at the PO. Thought I would send a card from the ship to the grands from the charaters on ship telling them they missed them, and hoped they had a fun time. I always do that when we go to Disneyland and is a big hit.........I must say that I am going to miss seeing DL and wish we would have had the time to even do one day their. I dont think legoland will do it for me. Something about going in the gates in DL and getting that feeling like a kid again (even though your body says different :rotfl:)

Have a great weekend all!

Wow! Three weeks from tomorrow! That's going to fly by, and I have so much to do! I've been fooling myself that I had most of it finished. I still need to personalize the little kid FE gifts, figure out something for the teens, do all the adult gifts, get my dress altered, take the formalwear to the dry cleaners, buy the girls fancy shoes. And that's just cruise related stuff.

Also this weekend, I need to buy a wedding gift, attend said wedding, get the girls outfitted for soccer, because of course the stuff from last year doesn't fit, pass the kids to my mom for the evening, because it's an adults only wedding, buy cake ingredients for my dd11's birthday party, make and decorate the cake for tomorrow, make a peach pie before the peaches I bought last week go bad, host a slumber party for fifteen or so 11 year olds, call the ones who have not RSVPed yet for tomorrow, the list goes on.

At least it's a three day weekend in the US! :crazy2:

Wow it is almost time! I thought I was doing well by finding a cat and dog sitter! I'd better get cracking, or we won't have any clothes, just Fe stuff ready :rotfl2:

Yes yes, so much to do and so little time and tons of anticipation and excitement. Going to AAA today to pick up maps and tour books for SF. With the three day weekend and high 90 degree temps we will be able to get a lot done inside. Will kick DW into gear on getting the FE gifts wrapped up they are looking so good:thumbsup2

Random question - can you buy the DCL flag onboard the Wonder? We collect flags and the DCL one would be an awesome one to add to the collection.
