Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

I should never admit this on the Dis because I know most folks here are planners extraordinaire, and you'll probably be nervous for us... LOL :rotfl:
I just started working on FE gifts today, I haven't even thought about packing yet, and I honestly have no idea what we're doing on on any of our port stops. Of course I think cruising the CA Coast has something to do with that. I do a much better job of researching foreign ports in advance. I have a feeling the next couple of weeks will be an incredibly busy blur!

Edited to add:
Oops, I should have looked at the time before hitting submit. I posted in the wee hours of the morning, so it wasn't the today and tomorrow I meant anymore. We went to DLR on Wed and the kids start school on Thurs.

My kids went back to school today too.

I'm with you on this one. I do have my FE gifts done but I haven't really packed anything and we have no excursions planned. We will do the Walt Disney Family museum on our own, and will meet up with my sister and BIL one day, but nothing is set in stone.

My Mom will be watching my kids at my house so I don't even have to pack anything for them. I just need to make sure the groceries are purchased before we go ;)

We are also 15 minutes from the port and my Mom is taking us and picking us up, so nothing to plan there. It feels funny not having anything else to do to get ready. :lmao:

One more sleep and we are off.:banana: Well at this rate we may be going nowhere as we are having gale force winds (last 10 mins the gusts were over 65mph) and it's forecast to get worse. :scared1: We fly on a twin prop out of our local airport, so I'm unsure how that's going to work as the wind is gusting too strong to get a crate in the air. We've got a seven hour layover in Auckland, so hopefully Air NZ will sort something out. :confused3

I had three hours of sleep last night as the wind was hitting the side of the house so hard and at 6AM I was hauling the sides of the trampoline cage down incase the thing decides to uproot it's stakes and fly off. The old one escaped and flew out of our garden twice, now we have a heavier one. I hope my DH can get over the Rimutaka Ranges road today as they close it when it gets too windy, so DH may get stuck over the other side of the country unable to get home. Now that would just our luck this week, wouldn't it! :headache:

Oh no....I've got all my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates for you!!!

It's not going to according to the Met Office, "There was the possibility of severe gales reaching speeds of 120kmh in inland Canterbury through to Wellington and Wairarapa tomorrow. Gales of this nature had the potential to bring powerlines down, damage trees and make driving conditions hazardous." That's 75mph. Urgh. This happens a couple of times a month at least up here, as AussieMumma has said before, our weather is terrible. Why people live in NZ is beyond me, Wellington is the windiest capital city on the planet. I'm going to go down to the airport this morning once I've dropped the dog at her holiday camp. Even if they do get a twin prop in the air it's going to be a fairly horrible flight for preschoolers.

Just wondering if we have the final list with all room numbers etc ? Just wrapping up my FE gifts and the next two weeks are chaos with the start of another hockey season ...so would like to pack them all up labelled and ready to roll...

cant wait

I have not posted a final list because there are still folks who have not yet received their room assignments. As soon as all of the room numbers have been sent, I'll update the list ASAP and get it on this thread.

Thanks!

Julie

Must be the nicest people, volunteering their time and creativity all to help others decorate their doors! I have borrowed a few designs and added my own text.
This weekend I hope to laminate!
I'm also starting to get ready by stocking up on pet food...haven't tried on any fancy clothes or packed, but have a to do list going!

How are things looking for your flight tomorrow? I have my fingers crossed for you. What's plan B? Could you drive, how far is it?
ps: how do you do multiple quotes???!!!!

Calicruiser32 Welcome to the thread :wave2: Have you cruised with Disney before?

Not much going on over here other then normal everyday stuff and dd's 14th tomorrow.
I had a minor stress attack Wednesday which has resulted in us changing our Anaheim hotel and spending more money :crazy2: feeling less stressed now though so it's all good :thumbsup2

Multi quote - hit the button with the plus on it at the bottom of the quote you want, then hit it again if you want to do a second and finally hit the regular quote button on the final one and it all pops out.

This is what it looked like today: http://www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/wellington-weather/7630766/130kmh-winds-hammer-Wellington (I particularly like photo three which is actually the front of someone!). It's dropped back and scheduled to pick back up again tonight and onwards for tomorrow. It's about eight hours to drive to Auckland, so not enough time at all. Rich reckons they take off with the wind at the tail to use it as propulsion. That'll freak the kids out. If it's too windy he reckons that they'll bus us down to Wellington and jet us up. Now you may know what Welly is like to fly out of, short runway with sea at each end, can't get a 747 to land there. I grew up with that at my old airport so I'm used to taking off straight up and being pushed to the side and people screaming but that may be a bit freaky for the kids, Rich nearly barfed the first time he had to take off like that. Back up to the back up is I'll join the dog at the kennel, she looked really happy to be abandoning us. I guess we are enjoying another dusting from the Bad JuJu Fairy.

Welcome to all the new people!

Hmm that doesn't sound good at all. You couldn't leave tonight or really early tomorrow and drive to Auckland? Last thing you want is to freak the kids out about flying before getting on the long haul :worried:

Hi All~

I just found this tread so I'm playing catch up! I'm excited for our cruise!

ME :cool1: DD (7) :hippie:

Welcome to the group!!!

Wow!!!! I sure hope that you are all safely on your way to the US now!!!

I just was looking at our schedule and it has Pirate Deck Party listed for the night we're in San Fran. For some reason I thought it was going to be the night we leave San Diego so we could get into Mexican waters. I guess we're not going to get any fireworks.

I really need to get moving on packing and FE gifts. Haven't even started most of it. I guess with no kids and no flights, my subconscious just isn't thinking this is a big deal to get ready for. I need it to start nagging me!

Where did you see that? Previous Post has it down for Friday Night:confused3,

It's gusty but the 7AM flight just shot over so it's all good. Wazzing it down tho'. The kids were up early and over excited (think 5AM). It's going to be a long long day at the start of the Grand Tiki Tour. Now I just need to make sure Rich is insured as he somehow got left off the policy and we all know what happened last flight. :sad2:

Right I'll see you all on the ship if I can't get connectivity prior. If I can't get connectivity I'll probably have died before cruise date tho', cellphones I can live without but Internet is a whole different story.

Ba ha ha - I just thought what you are all going to look like when we open our mouths at the cruise meet and you strike our accents (Rich is very English and I've got an International NZ one from so much overseas living but the kids are pure Kiwi). We are going to sound very odd! Good thing AussieMumma and I can drop into slang and understand each other.:lmao::lmao:

When I log into My Cruise Activities and see the calender that has the "+" on the bottom to add dining or spa or whatever. It lists Day 3 - Pirate Deck Party 9:45 - 10:30.

I just tried it and I see what you mean. Hum, that is interesting considering we aren't even leaving port that day. And that isn't normally the night they do pirate night on the other 7-night cruises.

Hum, if that is the case, I won't bother to pack my pirate stuff because we may not even be back for dinner that day.

Come to think of it, it must be a mistake. I can't image them scheduling a deck party on a night when a lot of the guests may be off the ship.

Yeah, I thought it was weird too since there's at least one night excursion and the Monterey/Carmel excursion would be pushing to get back and ready on time. Maybe they just attached it to the wrong day.

I actually called DCL a couple of weeks ago (for a different issue). But while I had them on the phone, I asked about formal night, semi-formal night and Pirate Night. They told me that Pirate Night was the day we are in San Diego - I don't have the calendar right here, but I seem to remember that's a Friday night.

I think DCL has told others in our group that as well. Plus we noticed that originally the all aboard time on that day was 9:30 but on the cruise documents it shows 7:30. That would make sense if they want time to leave San Diego and get out to sea to do fireworks.

I'm keeping my finger's crossed that it is on Friday night :thumbsup2
