Sept. 23, 2012 Pacific Coast - Wonder Cruise

Wonder how well this will work. I put both San Francisco, San Diego & LA in my phone last week and keep watching. LA is warm!

Marian welcome to the US..........nice to hear that you arrived safely. Have fun the next two weeks.

I am so ready to find out our room numbers..........we need pixiedust: lots of pixie dust so we find out. lol

Have a pile in bedroom of things not to forget...:cool1:

Two weeks from now and we will all be sailing..........can you believe it?:wave2: CU soon............Sandy

I can't believe it is finally here. I'm sure next week at this time we will be on our way home from San Pedro after welcoming the Wonder back home (and then watching her sail away for the first Pacific Coast cruise)!!!

The kids are excited that it is almost time for the Wonder to come back :thumbsup2

Just like the majority of you, I am so excited about finding out our room number tomorrow! I will be happy with whatever verandah room we get but I am secretly hoping for a Cat 4 for the extra bit of space. Two weeks from now at this time someone will be cooking and serving me food instead of me cooking and servng food to my kids! :thumbsup2

Did anyne else purchase the CityPass for SF? I did and plan on ding a lot of what the pass offers. I also had one of the city tours bookd through DCL but it was from 9ish to after 1. I noticed on the CityPss that a lot of the attractions closed at 5 on the days we are there. So I decided to cancel the city tour through DCL so that I can maximize my CityPass.

Yes it has been so hot here in So CA. My kids had soccer pics today which involved a lot of waiting around the the blazing sun! Beads of sweat slipping down your back is such a lovely feeling! I do love the heat though and I know dd would love to swim when we board if the heat continues. Secretly I'd like SF to be a little on the cooler side because the thought of having clam chowder in a sourdough bread while feeling the cool ocean breeze on your face sounds heavenly right now! :thumbsup2 Speaking of, anyone have a go to place in SF for clam chowder??

Okay I'll admit it may be time for a Cruise Obsessing Intervention. I actually spent a good minute of my day today pondering whether or not DCL makes its OWN ranch dressing, or is it that crappy stuff from a jug...

Truth be told, I judge all dining establishments by the quality of their ranch dressing. :thumbsup2

anyone have a go to place in SF for clam chowder??

Fisherman's Wharf, right near where ship docks. Can't go wrong!

And MARIAN, so glad you made it!!!

Can't wait to hear all the room #'s tomorrow -- especially since my FE's are ready to go except for about 6 missing room #'s! :) Hope you all get the upgrades you wanted and are happy with your rooms...

BigDisney - Welcome to the states. Enjoy SoCal and we'll see you in a couple weeks.

Weather - I am getting tired of this heat, but want it to be warm on the cruise - so I am afraid Murphy's Law will bring cool weather in two weeks.

IGT/OGT/VGT - Are we ready to start checking our reservations, I know I will be all over the website tomorrow morning:surfweb:

I heard from a fellow Aussie that just returned from SF last week that Boudin's at Pier 39 make "the best clam chowder" she has ever tasted! I'll have to have some just to be sure though :thumbsup2

I finally bought the last few bits for our FE gifts yesterday, now I just have to package them up and add the tags, (I still need to print the tags also). I think I'll package them once onboard so I can pack things carefully and make sure nothing gets squashed!
Lots of little jobs to do over the next couple of weeks before we fly out, for the cruise and for home, including popping into the travel agent thursday to pick up our documents!!!

Hi and Thanks for the welcome! Yes I did the W. Caribbean 2 years ago and loved it! This time around it's just me and my DD (7) so I'm hoping to meet some fellow travelers!

socababy......I was on here looking at FE gifts and saw your post of the game idea..........omg I so love it. Will have to talk to you on how to do this. Would be a great x-mas gift for the grands this year.

Rooms in the morning........i am so hoping we get them. :mic:

On the way to Carlsbad today we took a side tour to the Port of San Pedro. We thought we'd try and see the cruise ship terminal. All I can say is I am so glad we've booked a shuttle! We kept driving up and down the port for over half an hour and couldn't find the cruise terminal but we found recycling depots, a mercado where the kids played stamp on the 'dirty bug' (roaches) while Mum & Dad shop for water and more cranes than I've ever seen in 50+ countries. It's the largest port I've ever seen - we only have three cranes offloading at Port of Wellington. Massive place. We nearly gave the GPS a nervous breakdown refusing to follow it's directions.

My boys are having a ball trying new things. It's going to cost us a fortune in cereal boxes. :rolleyes2 They are also obsessed with American bathroom technology, everything is very different and interesting.

I've realised how pale we are coming out of our winter. Everyone is so tan and healthy looking. :worried: We look worse than vampires.

Our dog must be one out of the box - she was delighted to see the bags out, she gets to go to her holiday camp. She even leaped out of the car when she got there whereas I normally have to lift her out.

Can't wait to find out the rooms tomorrow! :cool1:

Finished my adult FE gifts today, so that makes it all the FE gifts. I just need to attach the decorations to our FE pockets and then I'm all done with the crafting. Then I need to print out tags and then I'm completely done and ready to pack. Hoping to get some time tomorrow to pull down the box of costumes from the top of the closet and see if the pirate stuff still fits the girls. Hope so because it's too hot to sew these days!

Happy Monday! pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: to those anticipating cabin numbers today that you all get what you are looking for.

Marian - We think it is fun to make the GPS recalculate all the time, DH will do things intentionally to cause her to do that. It is a small wonder that she doesn't just tell us to pull over and turn the car off!

Went to DS's for dinner last night so I didn't finish all that I had wanted to with the packing project but there is always tonight.

Good luck - may the assignments begin!

First welcome to all who just joined us! I can't wait until we meet aboard the Wonder!!

So this morning as my husband is getting ready to leave for work, he says to me, "Happy cabin assignment day!" I was amazed he remembered today is the day! (I HOPE!) I am hoping that everyone's day - cabin assignment or not - is full of pixie dust! pixiedust:

The weather here in PA is cool - it is in the 60s and there are few days where we might see the 80s, but I'm afraid the consistent warm weather is over. I love the crisp fall mornings, although my boys would prefer to wear t-shirts and shorts until there is snow on the ground! Luckily we have a trip to warmer weather planned! Oh, how I can't wait!

We are just back from a weekend in Pittsburgh (about 4 hours west of where we are outside Philadelphia)... it was a great weekend visiting family. I still haven't unpacked the car yet, so thoughts of packing for the cruise are still awhile away.

I read that cabin assignments are usually posted around 1 EST so I'm trying to be patient, but it's not easy! T-minus 2 hours!

No room yet, but it's a little early. I'll try not to check toooo obsessively.

Got a great start on our FE gifts done last night, finishing them should be no problem. I'm away at a scrapbooking retreat all this weekend so that's really going to make next week a whirlwind of packing!

Good luck on room assignments!

Silly girl...you should have called us and we would have met you down there. The actual cruise terminal is really easy to find and you can't miss it when the ships are in (I'm guessing there were no cruise ships in port when you arrived). The cruise terminal is very close to the Vincent Thomas Bridge. When you get off the freeway for the port, you turn the corner and the Wonder will be right there in front of you. We generally come down side streets but the freeway route is the most direct to the port.

We have a room!!!! No pixie dust for us...we got a 7A, Navigator's Verandah. I figured we would, being a couple only.

I don't know if we are going to try and upgrade or not. We did want to try a Navigator's Verandah. I figure with the cooler air, having the wind block would be nice. Plus it is starboard side, on deck 6 so I am very happy with the location (I don't know why but I like starboard).

Hum, decisions, decisions.

We got our rooms and no pixie dust either. Booked two OGTs and got two 9Ds - the bare minimum. We are on deck 1, right next to the tender lobby. Also the rooms are not connecting, but at least they are side-by-side. I'm considering upgrading.

Feeling very let down, but I guess I have to consul myself by thinking that at least we are on the ship!

 I'm sorry that you didn't get a better assignment. I've been looking at what categories are still available. There were a ton of 5As before and now it is guarantee status so I'm guessing they assigned a lot of those. But it is still showing 4As available :confused3

I need to talk to DH tonight to see if we wants to try for an upgrade. I guess it can't hurt to check and see what they have. That just means we arrive earlier than planned and hopefully get to hang out with some of our dis-group members while we wait to board :thumbsup2

We got a 7A as well...there are three of us. Oh well. This is my first DC so I am happy with whatever. It's a connecting room though. People really seem disappointed with those rooms when they don't need it to be connecting...why is that?? I also checked our cruise and all of the categories are still available. What are the chances that our rooms will change in the next two weeks???

Got a room! Got a room! Got a room!

pixiedust: Whoo Hoo! pixiedust:

Category 5A - 7th floor!
Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

See y'all in 13 days!
