M&N, the books I told you about are non fiction. Written by an elderly woman of Charleston, famous for her gardens. She led quite an interesting life and wrote frankly about it and the people she had known. I found her fascinating. What I would not give to live within a one days drive of DW. It would be heaven, sheer heaven. One can only dream. Tom is not portable. San Antonio is lovely, especially the River Walk area. Key West and the six toed cats are a dream of mine even though it is not really 'me' at all and I do not really care for Hemmingway. Steinbeck is more my kind of man. My sister goes there often but she is a sit on the beach, drinking several cold ones, type of person.

MsDisney and Lisa, sure glad to see you round these parts again. We need some new stories. Got any good ones?

...sigh...Ms Linda we do think alike....no doubt I would enjoy the books and will visit amazon.com after my return from Savannah. I'm not a fan of Hemingway either, and am torn about Kay West (not a sitting on the beach type either), but the palm trees blowing in the salty wind is the draw. Of course, Sanibel Island has the same and it is absolutely gorgeous...would go back in a heartbeat.

Have other places to visit or visit again....and place which I refuse to visit - Mount Rushmore being one....a sacred ground abused is not my idea of a tourist site. Although I would like to see the Badlands and the Crazy Horse Memorial, which, it seems, has been blessed by the Lakota. I feel an unexplainable connection with the Lakota and have no idea why...have had many dreams over the years....

Thanks so much, Kris! We will for sure visit Mary Flannery O'Connor's home (which I'd forgotten about) and planned to see Lafayette Sq (our B&B room is the Lafayette Room ) and St John the Baptist Cathedral. Her house actually looks just like our B&B.

Read In the Garden... and watched the movie a hundred times! I can't wait to arrive Savannah and have been reading about it forever.Wish we had more than 2 ngts. We already decided to avoid Mrs Wilkes (do not want to stand in line for an hour in the heat and then share a table..I know...we're awful), Lady and Sons use hot pepper in the fried chicken, so I would not be able to touch it...The Pirate House holds no appeal to us and the Pink House is too expensive...BUT......did not know about Savannah Sweets and you can bet we'll be sure to go there.

SG ~ Savannah and Charleston have been on my list of places to visit. I am blessed in that I've been all over the US, but there are still a few cities I'd like to visit: San Antonio (hi, Kris!) & Key West may be harder to check off, but one never knows in this adventure of life.

Is the book series you mentioned fiction or non? Or fiction based on fact? I am not very good about reading fiction and probably need more of it in my life, but I so much more enjoy it if it's based on some fact...i.e. I loved the Fr. Greeley books based in Chicago..I knew the neighbors and could picture places she told about so easily - wonderful. Did not like his later books as well as the first few though.

wic ~ Those are great places to eat. Not a big fan of Cyrstal Palace - but that may of been due to the situation during the meal, not the place or food.

We did Ohana's for breakfast last trip and was surprised how good it was and how much we enjoyed it. Even though not fans of Stitch, it was terrific...having a direct view of Castle didn't hurt either!

We also ate at Garden Grill for the first time in 20 yrs last trip - the chef was wonderful about food allergies. We were on the upper level this time, definitely prefer the lower level. Characters are farmers - cute!

M&N, did your ancestor wear a coonskin hat or invent a knife? Just wondering as I am a fan of history, American and English mostly, myself. I find that it is not the destination nearly as much as who you take with you that matters. If you go by yourself it is your disposition that matters most. I would love to see Mount Rushmore. I had not thought about your pov before. Considering that and finding it to be a valid point I would still want to visit. If not for Mt. Rushmore etc. I doubt that many folks would go to the area and be introduced the rich Indian history of the region.

Wic, I would love to go to the CP before the park opens for breakfast, even though I do not even like breakfast, just to be in the park with hardly anyone else for a bit. Magical, I would think. I was underwhelmed with Chef Mickey's in September but your mileage may vary. Something wrong when you do not like an Oreo something. How can a person ruin an Oreo? There should be a law.

Diva K, how far out does one have to make an ADR for your guest room?

I found some fleece throws I had been looking for on sale and I had a coupon! It is easier to wash those throws than to clean chairs and couches. I also have grands who love to wrap themselves up in something from time to time and they will be spending some time with me when their parents go away on another trip soon. The oldest one is rebelling based on his age but he did last time too and ended up being back here early every night and asleep shortly thereafter. Grandma can party harder than he.

What the heck is going on at WDW? Another accident this time with the busses. Hopefully, in the mid afternoon nobody was standing on the bus?

Two Walt Disney World buses crashed this afternoon in front of the Contemporary Resort on Disney property, injuring 12 people, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The rear-end crash happened about 2:40 p.m. when one southbound bus stopped to merge as the World Drive narrowed from three to two lanes, said Sgt. Kim Miller, an FHP spokeswoman. The second bus, which was traveling slowly, did not stop in time.

About 50 people were on both buses. A dozen were taken to area hospitals. Miller described their injuries as minor. Neither bus driver was hurt.

The buses were ferrying guests from the Magic Kingdom to the Caribbean Beach and All-Star resorts, Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger said.

The accident comes 11 days after monorail pilot Austin Wuennenberg died when another train accidentally backed into his.

Finger, said the company is conducting its own investigation and working with law enforcement to ensure the "well-being of those involved." Disney sent representatives to the hospitals where passengers were being examined, she said.

"There's nothing more important than the safety of our guests and cast members," Finger said.

We arrived home late last night. I'll tell ya, many of the drivers are wonderful, BUT...............I'll tell ya............We came homr from DTD onr night nd the bus driver drove like a jerk!!!!!!!! he was right up on the butt of the bus in front og him and he was constantly slammining on thre breaks. So when I heard of this accident I was not surprised!

Just Jan, I have had the same experiences with Disney drivers, although not so much since they started using off site traffic cops who enforce the rules on everyone, including Disney bus drivers. The scariest rides I have had have been on the Disney buses.

BTW, two San Francisco streetcars backed into each other a couple of days ago. Maybe it is a sign of the times, longer hours, fewer workers, cheaper workers, etc.?

Cheryl, you give the breakfast advice. The only time I like breakfast is for dinner and then not even that much then. lol

When Southern friends doubt I have deep authentic southern roots, I mention Davy...for some reason my Mississippi born and raised grandmother and TN born and raised grandfather and Memphis born father do not seem to count.

I'm with you being able to stroll into the MK while the streets are still damp from the morning hosing and the emptiness of Main Street - heavenly!

Wic ~ do you want a character breakfast or breakfast in a park? If not, Fort Wilderness Trial's End has a terrific breakfast buffet and one of the least expensive in WDW! We would go over early, then hop the water launch to the MK....or go to MK, take the water launch to FW and have the buffet lunch at Trial's End. Oh, and as Cheryl mentioned, Cape May- we've had breakfast there a couple of times. A tad inconvenient if not staying at BC or YC though.

I just checked the menu on Allears and it appears the Mickey Waffles are no long offered...but allears does not always have the most up to date info. Also, looks like price went up by $2.00.

Timmie, it is better to stay single than get into a mixed marriage, one Disney lover and one non. Such things just do not work. You do not need to have everything in common but your main interests should be compatible. Of course, it might be best not to overwhelm a promising Disney lover with the true level of your addiction, at first. Failing meeting perfection you could meet a rich guy who would not mind footing the tab for all YOUR visits. Second best is not bad.

Family legend has it that we are tarred with the same brush, Davy Crockett. I have a sister who is an avid genealogist. Truth be told she goes back so far that I have no doubt that she has Adam and Eve on her charts also. I believe I once read that Davy returned from one of his lengthy expeditions to find his wife with a new child in her arms. Since it was his brothers child it was considered 'all in the family'. I might have that story mixed up with another adventurer though. Makes sense as in those days a woman could not survive on her own and the men were gone for years at a time often.

I have 4 guest rooms but no margaritas. I have to confess that I have never had one either. One bath for all 4 bedrooms though.

Bomas is kind of interesting and loud so I would guess that a ten year old would find it interesting. You can also wander out on one of the verandas and catch sight of some exotic animals.

I never cared much for westerns but I sure did think that Fess Parker was good looking. Looked something like my father without the anger.

Yardwork today, lots of yardwork. Pulling weeds, will it never end?

We have dear family friends who are Mormon Genealogists. They worked on our family tree for a few years - I was blessed to attend two of their conferences, and found info about the ship on which my German great grandfather arrived. Interesting stuff!

Davy was one of the easy ones as he is a direct link, not a distant one. We've known about him long before the time of popular genealogy. He is in the (non-Catholic) family bible. Pretty cool! I've not heard that story about him, SG, and doubt that it's true...me thinks it is one of them thar legends. It's pretty funny some of the things we've heard over the years. There were lots of other David Crocketts and it seems everyone wants to be related to the most famous one. Why not...makes it more interesting for sure!

I'd not be against our being distantly connected...maybe it would explain some of the strange things we have in common?

My son's best friend is getting married Saturday. I just heard that my son was at his house (right behind my house) the other day. He has not been in contact with anyone for several years, me included. While I am delighted to hear that he is now in touch with his friend (my adopted son) I am heartbroken that he was so near yet remains so far away. I thought I would tell someone who cares.
