Sept. 2009 @ WDW! Be a Pop Tart 2009~come share your(Bounce Back or NOT)Dates !!!

My computer has been acting up since I installed a program that I need to download Youtube videos for a friend.

My next door neighbor had his other knee operated on and I am mowing it. It is a whole bunch larger than mine and his wife is very, very picky. :rotfl:

AND, the big one. My grandchildren wanted me. It is county fair here and lots going on. My grandsons won their fair share (pun intended) and a bit more of prizes. I even had an hour or more of honest to goodness fun with my daughter. More precious than diamonds and far harder to find.

Things are bad at Disney when Angwill considers going elsewhere. The folks, usually with few posts, who post dumb and overly picky complaints about Disney should be booted but good, honest criticism is good for anyone even Disney.

Melissa, I am so sorry to hear that your poor pup is still under the weather. It is good to hear that he feels like eating though. Good advice about working with my kids, most of which I do. I am pretty good at going with the flow as to what the kids want. A bit difficult when they are in large groups though. I wanted to hand out stuffed animals for them to hold while I was reading but because of worry about lice etc. that was not allowed. I have read that having a dog in the room is good also but I am not able to do that one. If I could, I would though.

Bonz, just because the home owners accepted an offer does not mean that it will go through, financing and all being what it is today. If it is meant to be, it will. If not, you will bless the day and be glad of what you end up with.

Disneymoon, you have picked the very best resort for a honeymoon. It is so beautiful there and has so many amenities plus it is not overly costly. I would love to return there some day.

Wic, hope next Tuesday is extra special. :wizard: I celebrate mine Saturday and plan to be very nice to myself. :woohoo:

TB, those Mickey Bars would not happen to be the nekkid sticks with just enough chocolate stain to make poor MsDisney to think that you did not eat them before leaving her just the leftovers? Just wondering. :rolleyes1

Hey SG,

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I hope you have a very nice birthday tomorrow also! :cake::bday:

What the heck is going on at WDW? Another accident this time with the busses. Hopefully, in the mid afternoon nobody was standing on the bus?

Two Walt Disney World buses crashed this afternoon in front of the Contemporary Resort on Disney property, injuring 12 people, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The rear-end crash happened about 2:40 p.m. when one southbound bus stopped to merge as the World Drive narrowed from three to two lanes, said Sgt. Kim Miller, an FHP spokeswoman. The second bus, which was traveling slowly, did not stop in time.

About 50 people were on both buses. A dozen were taken to area hospitals. Miller described their injuries as minor. Neither bus driver was hurt.

The buses were ferrying guests from the Magic Kingdom to the Caribbean Beach and All-Star resorts, Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger said.

The accident comes 11 days after monorail pilot Austin Wuennenberg died when another train accidentally backed into his.

Finger, said the company is conducting its own investigation and working with law enforcement to ensure the "well-being of those involved." Disney sent representatives to the hospitals where passengers were being examined, she said.

"There's nothing more important than the safety of our guests and cast members," Finger said.

Ang ~ OMG, this is awful! I hadn't heard about it before reading this...any updates?

What happened at POP?? I want to hear? I'm really torn about going when it is so hot and really don't want to be at POP during the heat.

Bonz ~ that is too bad about the house, but as others have said, surely your house is out there waiting for you to find it.

wic & DisneymoonJess07 & thunderbird1 ~ congrats on having your trips paid in full!!:woohoo:

SG ~ I am so happy for you!!!!

Melissa ~ is Contanze any better this evening?

Hey, Kris and everyone else!!

I'm sorry if I missed anyone.

I had a stomach bug for a few days, and have been reading up on Savannah - my BFF is coming to visit from Boston August 4-10 and we are going to Savannah for 2 ngts - crazy, I know, as it is as hot as Disney that time of year....and we'll be walking everywhere. Have we lost our minds?? Booked a B&B yesterday - boy, took us a week to make a decision about where to stay. But we did get a fairly good "deal" - instead of $229 a ngt plus tx it is $200 inc tx. Not bad.....but we probably chose one of the few B&B's without a full Southern Breakfast - each room has a fridge, microwave etc, so the Inn keeps every fridge stocked and delivers fresh baked goodies each morning and evening. This works for us b/c other Inn's bkfst was at 9 and we only have 2 days to get out bright and early.

Sorry for going on! Oh, anyone have any Savannah suggestions, please share!

Have a great evening! :goodvibes

If I may suggest another Savannah book series by Eugenie Price...my Mom & I read them all (4) while we lived there and would go visit the places mentioned in the books!

"Wait...you mean to tell me that people visit the Disney are more than once every 15 years??

In your opinion is EPCOT better than Disneyworld...or the other way around? I'll definitely try to visit both within the next 5-10 years :) "

I guess the getting to know stage will stay at the getting to know stage... after I answered him about WDW have 4 parks and 2 water parks and EPCOTwas one of them... and yes one might even visit WDW 7 times a year because of all the on going events... he must thought I was from planet Kukulakah :lmao:

Absolutely! Thank you! Hey, but you lived there - any memories to share? Where to eat? We are trying to avoid the touristy restaurants, although we'll be tourists and doing a tour to get a feel for what we'd like to see...and possibly an historic walking tour, but it is so hot in August.

Timmie ~ Any hope he would catch your enthusiasm?

I'm very excited about having my trip paid off....I've got 58 days to go now!
My ADR's are made, and I'm more than ready to go. :thumbsup2

The only bummer is that our friends that were going to come with us had to back out, :sad2: so now it's just me, Kellie and Shawn going. I'm happy and sad at the same time! :confused3

That's too bad that your friends had to cancel - ope everything is okay with them.

Ya know, it was more fun going to Disney when we were home (MA) than going from NC...something about the longer flight, the weather, the palm trees (not that we have palm trees here). Dunno....just more exciting. Although, we could drive from here - still takes a day, but doable. Leave at 6 in the morning and be there by 5 that same day...or fly and be there in an hour. LOL

So, Kathy, where are your ADR's this trip?? :)

Mary & co are back from their cruise...I've seen them twice, they've tried to tell us about it but I didn't bite if you know what I mean

Don't forget Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil by John Berendt...they used to have a tour of sites from the book.
If your into obscure southern literature, you can visit Flannery O'Conner's house
All the places I would suggest to eat are touristy...Mrs. Wilkes, Lady & Sons (Paula Deans resturant,) The Pirate House, The Pink House...
While your on Riverstreet be sure to go in Savannah Sweets to get a sample of their pralines!

Let's see, We're going to the Garden Grill, O'Hana's, 1900 Park Fare, Cape May, Crystal Palace, We're hitting O'hana's twice though, once for dinner and once for breakfast. I may try and change a couple around though. I didn't get everything I wanted...so I'm going to see if I can make some changes tonight after Kellie goes to bed.

Yeah, I know what you mean. ;)

I am bummed about my friend having to back out though, but I'm sure we'll be able to meet up and do Disney another time.....as long as I have a job, this might be our last trip for a while, if I can't find employment sometime in the near future!

Savannah is one of the places on my 'to go' list that I have never been too. I have read every single book mentioned and every author. I cannot stand Paula Deen, since reading her autobiography, but I would not mind tasting some of her food. M&N, I am delighted that you are getting to go and you have so many helpful hints from everyone. You will have the time of your life. :woohoo:

Timmie, it is better to stay single than get into a mixed marriage, one Disney lover and one non. Such things just do not work. You do not need to have everything in common but your main interests should be compatible. Of course, it might be best not to overwhelm a promising Disney lover with the true level of your addiction, at first. Failing meeting perfection you could meet a rich guy who would not mind footing the tab for all YOUR visits. Second best is not bad.:rotfl:

Diva K, congratulations on not 'biting'. I know it is hard. This was my day. I got up early and mowed the front part of my neighbors yard and then rested a bit before doing the back part. Later on I saw the daughter of my neighbors mowing it again. Seems my mower was not set low enough. It is the second notch from the bottom. My neighbors wife is picky, to say the least. She once screamed at me because I did not mow my yard on a day she thought I should have and I had just gotten back from the hospital with bad news. Only love for her husband keeps me as silent as I am. I am fuming today, quietly. :sad2:

Wic, I hope you get a wonderful job for your birthday present. :wizard:

Ang, any news on that bus crash? I am always surprised that there are not more. Not as bad now that they enforce the speed limits, including bus drivers though. I read that there were no serious injuries so that is a good thing.

Not quite Savannah but you all might want to check out "Mrs. Whatley's Charleston Gardens". I bought these books when we went on a plantation tour many years ago. Read the first one in a couple of hours, could not put it down, and then ran up to the gift shops to buy the rest of the series. She was a real woman and one I wish I had met. We would have gotten along famously. Warning, she is a bit ribald, not that I think anyone here would mind.

Two yards mowed, all the front bushes trimmed. Hooray for cool days. Might take the day off tomorrow. I shall see.

SG

I havent heard any more about the bus accidents only that there were no serious injuries. I did talk to someone who said there are accidents all the time with the busses it is just not usually known but since the monorail incident they will talk about any accident now. I am wondering if cutbacks might have something to do with the problems though.

Jan Jan,
I will pm you with what took place on our vacation. I don't want to bum anyone out before they take trips.

Ang

Hey ya'll sorry havent been on in a while .... lost internet for a little while and then just got lazy....

Whats been going on???

Hi Everyone, I'm still alive, my new business has been keeping me very busy. Looking forward to Sept. :cool1:

Don't forget Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil by John Berendt...they used to have a tour of sites from the book.

Thanks so much, Kris! We will for sure visit Mary Flannery O'Connor's home (which I'd forgotten about) and planned to see Lafayette Sq (our B&B room is the Lafayette Room ;) ) and St John the Baptist Cathedral. Her house actually looks just like our B&B.

Read In the Garden... and watched the movie a hundred times! I can't wait to arrive Savannah and have been reading about it forever.Wish we had more than 2 ngts. We already decided to avoid Mrs Wilkes (do not want to stand in line for an hour in the heat and then share a table..I know...we're awful), Lady and Sons use hot pepper in the fried chicken, so I would not be able to touch it...The Pirate House holds no appeal to us and the Pink House is too expensive...BUT...:rotfl:...did not know about Savannah Sweets and you can bet we'll be sure to go there.:thumbsup2

SG ~ Savannah and Charleston have been on my list of places to visit. I am blessed in that I've been all over the US, but there are still a few cities I'd like to visit: San Antonio (hi, Kris!) & Key West may be harder to check off, but one never knows in this adventure of life. ::yes::

Is the book series you mentioned fiction or non? Or fiction based on fact? I am not very good about reading fiction and probably need more of it in my life, but I so much more enjoy it if it's based on some fact...i.e. I loved the Fr. Greeley books based in Chicago..I knew the neighbors and could picture places she told about so easily - wonderful. Did not like his later books as well as the first few though.

wic ~ Those are great places to eat. Not a big fan of Cyrstal Palace - but that may of been due to the situation during the meal, not the place or food.

We did Ohana's for breakfast last trip and was surprised how good it was and how much we enjoyed it. Even though not fans of Stitch, it was terrific...having a direct view of Castle didn't hurt either!

We also ate at Garden Grill for the first time in 20 yrs last trip - the chef was wonderful about food allergies. We were on the upper level this time, definitely prefer the lower level. Characters are farmers - cute!

Thanks so much for all the Savannah suggestions - I appreciate every one! :flower3:

Have a great Sunday everyone!
