it's starting to get fairly windy here (considering it doesn't blow here often)

Our friends on the RCCL's Explorer docked today in Miami, they were on buddy passes, and due to the volume of people and all, didn't get on a plane till after 2pm, but that was good considering we had orginally thought they wouldn't make it till tomorrow (on a plane).

Hi All,

Have been busy watching the weather and reading the boards. A little nervous about what the weather will bring for us on 9/19, but we are determined to stick this one out. It's definately still a go for us. I am really going to put my trust (& Faith, no pun intended) in Disney. If worse comes to worse and we just spend the time at sea I am looking at it like you, dzneprincess, as a time to relax and unwind. It will be a little disappointing, but guess I'll just have to book a couple extra massages. Look on the bright side, it will also give all us DIS'ers a time to get to know each other.

My only worry is that we get to the airport okay, we will be flying in from NH.

aeryncrichton, how are you holding up? Has the weather gotten bad your way yet?

Oh, we are in room 6081. Looks like a few of us are on deck 6.

Ok, so I went to Home Depot today & picked up some of the alien green Mickey heads. Now what?

I know it's only 2 weeks away, but I find myself worrying a little more every day that we won't be able to make it to Orlando. I KNOW I can't control the weather, but I still worry. If we can get to Orlando (GO AWAY IVAN & ANY OF YOUR LITTLE FRIENDS WHO MAY WANT TO FOLLOW YOU!!!!!), then I don't really care where we go. Ok, so I would rather go to Cozumel (instead of Nassau~like the latest 7 turned 4 night Magic) and I'm really bummed about not making to CC, but just get me on the "boat" and I'll cheer right up!

My mom spoke to my sister who headed back to Jupiter this morning (she rode out the storm at her inlaws in Sebring ~ about 1 1/2 hours NW of West Palm Beach, I think). She said they didn't have power (nor did she know when it would be returning), but said their place did pretty well (just some cleaning up to do in the yard).

You can use the mickey heads and put them on your luggage (remove the rectangle backing of course), or you can use the heads and put a magnet on the back to spell a letter or word for your door. I'm trying to work out a way to use the mickey heads for a door sign using poster board and a door magnet. I love the idea of having a magnetic door sign, but its not for me. I just don't have enough time to create and put one together.

Well its hard to believe that with all the excitement and counting down its almost here. We are all so ready for this vacation. Only thing is I am very worried about what our once dream trip may hold for us. Not to sound like the party pooper but after 2 hurricanes hitting extremely close to us and another coming Im just wondering where this season came from. When we booked I knew there was a chance of a hurricane but not 3. Hurricane Charley which hit 20 miles south of us let alot of destruction but only brought us some mild winds. Hurricane Frances was another story. Although it hit the other coast our winds began on Friday and didnt end til today. I havent slept much during the last two nights because the wind is unbelievable. I think Ivan should just go away as we have had enough this season. Im glad that PC is ok and the boats are too, so I guess with that I will try my best to return my excitement level to where it use to be. I mean after all Disney is the place where dreams come true. Anyone have any ideas where our other port of call may be?
Magnetic Signs- I read somewhere that someone had printed them on a sturdy paper and glued magnetic stips on the back. I think we might try this.


BTW we are in room 5510.

Thanks for the ideas, Tae Ja! I wanted to make a magnetic sign too, but just haven't worked on it or gotten the paper. I remember reading on another thread about a magnetic frame from michael's with thin clear plastic instead of glass and that dis'er was just making their sign on regular paper & putting it in the frame. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but I know it wasn't more than a few bucks. Thought that was a good idea, too.
I'm going to try to start packing tomorrow and I will start with DD's things. I got her several disney (minnie & mickey) themed outfits that she won't be wearing until we get there, so that's probably just the easiest place to start. I'm going to go ahead & pack her sand toys too, just in case we actually get to visit a beach.

I'm going to try to make a magnetic door sign. I picked up magnetic 8 1/2 x 11 paper at Walmart and found Disney clip art online but now I just have to figure out what program to use to make the sign. I've never used Microsoft Publisher before and I think that's the one that I should be using.

I am also worried about the weather. We haven't been away in four years and it's just my luck that something bad would happen. I dont want to complain about my vacation being spoiled though when people have had their lives turned upside down.

Hopefully all will be well and we will all see each other soon.

Also, someone told me to go to dafont.com to find Disney fonts but I haven't had time to really check. I think I remember reading somewhere else on these boards about someone who made magnetic door signs for their own cruise and posted a link to photos of them. They used a font that looked exactly like a Disney font and if I remember correctly they posted the name of it. I will try to find it again. I think I did a search of this board on "magnetic door sign" and it came up. I really need to start writing these things down when I come across them.

By the way, does anyone know if we can still get pillowcases signed on the ship?

We are still going.... along with the rest. We have had a lot of wind and rain here. Our schools are closed today, because of the amount.
We are bummed a bit about not going to CC, but we missed it last year also, and it wasnt even a hurricanes fault. Too windy, the Captain tried for a long time to dock, but it didnt happen.
I am trying to make a sign for our door, but it is not easy for a not so literate computer user. I have been working on it for about 2 weeks now. Cant manage to get it all on one sheet with the background I am trying to use.
We both mananged to get Saturday night off. Plan on leaving around MN and driving down partway and then the rest on Sunday morning.
As far as we know we are going to be in room 7623, the same room we were in last year.
Hope to see ya'll in less than 2 weeks.
It is raining here again. It had let up for a while, but now the wind and rain has started again.

The wind has definetely picked up, the cable went out for a while, and we had a flood warning for a few hours, but are still under a watch till tomorrow afternoon...

it looks nasty, branches and leaves everywhere, but it's slowed down as far as 'heavy rain' for right now, it'll start up again soon though...

crosses my fingers on the power staying on...

Boarding day, I will be wearing all green... my sorta lime green blouse w/ a short black jacket over it, and these dark green (sorta the color of the military clothes kinda green) pants... I always wear them together...

First of all, glad to hear those of you in the current storms path are ok!

While I don't want Ivan to take the turn they expect & go north towards FL & Bahamas, continuing left (west) isn't good either! We are at the southern tip of TX (about 50 miles inland from South Padre Island/Brownsville) and if it were to continue on that path it would surely enter the gulf. Everyone around here says we are LONG OVERDUE for a hurricane and while that's probably true, I would prefer it wouldn't be right before/around the time we are trying to get to our cruise! I made one sign last night. I thought I had posted my results last night, but I guess I was more asleep than I thought! I haven't printed it out yet & I may make some other changes before it's all said and done. Would anyone like to see it & offer some constructive criticism? Let me know & I'll post a picture of it.

Would love to see magnetic sign, Krystina'sMommy. I am going to start working on one, but have been afraid to start to early as I didn't want to jinx myself with all this hurricane business going about! Think I will start working on it this weekend though!

Another thing that I plan on doing with the Home Depot Mickey Heads is to laminate the alien green ones and make pins out of them that we can wear during the cruise (when attire allows for it).

Has anyone else selected Main dining? That is what we opted for.

Hope this link works to view the "first draft" of my door sign. Right now it's just on photo paper (haven't gotten the magnetic paper yet). For some reason the colors look a little off, but I will try to correct this for the finished product. Each of us is represented by a character with our names (first name only) underneath. DH is Captain Mickey, I'm Minnie, DD is Baby Minnie (I've been told she looks just like me, but some disagree!) & DS(ister) is Daisy (haven't been able to get a hold of her to ask her what character she wants to be, so this may change). Please let me know what you all think or what can be improved!

I've been lurking around the boards and finally got registered and activated! We are in cabin 8516 and will be cruising with my dh, ds(4.5), dd(4.5), dd(9), dd(7.5), and dd(12mos). This is our second cruise- first was 3nt, now 4 nt. We tried to do the seven day, but we wanted to try out a two bedroom and after being on the waitlist for over a yr, we gave up and booked 4night. We;ll spend the following 3 nights at Wilderness Lodge-- that will be a first for us.

We're driving down on Saturday, the 18th and staying at Caribe Royal-- waited too long this time and couldn't get the Radisson.... We are very concerned about Ivan and evac traffic, etc....
I've really enjoyed reading the discussions- I had no idea of all this stuff until just last week!
