Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Evening all!

I would second pretty much all of those that have come before although for me the ones that stand out the most are:

1. House/home - I'm so grateful to have my own house that I can call a home.

2. Heat - being cold is not for me, i hate it and much prefer being warm so heat in any form is always welcome.

3. Holidays - any time off work whether a day or a full blown vacation are what I look forward to the most and I'd struggle not to have these as an escape from daily life.

Happy Thursday Everyone!

I’m a photo junkie - it’ll be tough to narrow it down. I have several framed photos at home, and if I had a fire and had time to grab just 3 it would be…..

#1 - FAMILY PHOTO FROM OUR 2007 DISNEY CRUISE - I love this photo so much and it can’t be replaced.

#2 - WEDDING COLLAGE - This has an 8x10 of DH & I in the center, than on the right it has my parents on their wedding day and then below it a picture of my grandparents on their wedding day. The left side is the same with my in-laws and my DH’s grandparents . These pictures are very special and can’t be replaced.

#3 - PHOTOS OF DAUGHTERS - I have both my girls hospital pictures, along with their footprints framed in our bedroom. These are the ones taken at the hospital when they were born. Since they can’t be replaced, they are coming with me.

Actually…..a lot of pictures are hanging on the stairwell walls, which is close the door, so if I have time, I’ll be taking lots of them. If the glass breaks and scratches some, I don’t care - at least I have them.

Afternoon all!

My choices today are going to be fairly high level:

1. Disney photos - second those of you have already said this. Even the ride photos that are usually of me looking ridiculous or awful 😂

2. Holiday/vacation photos - no matter where the trip or who with, I love looking back through these.

3. Childhood photos - especially those with family members who are sadly no longer with us ❤️

Four Generations - DD19 was about 9 months old when I decided to combine efforts with my parents and take a trip up to NJ. My maternal grandmother had suffered a massive stroke several years earlier and was now immobile and nonverbal but she could still recognize familiar faces and voices. This was the one and only time DD got to meet her great grandmother on my side of the family. Before the end of the visit, we took a pick where my mom and I were standing in the background and my wheelchair bound grandmother was sitting next to DD in her stroller. She clearly knew what was going on because she gave DD a little squeeze as the photo was being taken. She passed a little over a month before DD16 was born.

Four Generations Part 2 - DHs maternal grandmother lived until she was 103 and both of our girls got many years of getting to know her and spending time with her. She suffered a stroke around the age of 101 which caused her to mentally regress into a much younger version of herself but our girls at least had many solid years of knowing her before this. We have a pic we took one year at Christmas with the girls, DH, my MIL, and DHs grandmother. We are no longer on speaking terms with my MIL. The pic serves as a reminder of how DHs grandmother used to be the voice of reason with some of the things MIL has done to divide us all.

Old Class Pictures - The other week, I posted a new profile picture of myself to Facebook. A friend reminded me that we went back to 1st Grade (which was several decades ago). I remembered that I actually had a digital copy of that class picture saved down...so I shared it. I think we all know we were once young, but we don't really reflect too heavily on old pictures of ourselves. So, it was sort of interesting to look at this old picture and see everything from our little innocent faces, the "fashions" our parents chose for us from this era, and how that teacher we all hated really wasn't nearly as old as we all pictured her in our heads. In fact, she's probably a good 15-20 years younger than we all are right now.

Good morning, friends :)

Birthday and Father's Day photos especially from this year.

Pictures of my grandparents and Champ.

God willing a picture to be taken next year of my dad and I at Disneyland.
