I think a lot of you did the last EB Panama Canal cruise????

I'm spending 3 nights at the Disneyland Hotel before we sail out of San Pedro for a Panama Canal cruise on Coral Princess.

Does anyone have tips on the best transportation method between Disney and the port? Has anyone done a one-way car rental?

I think most people caught the Disney buses or the "pirate" buses which were organised by the some of the Disboarders.

You might want to get a town car service or rent a car. I think the car rental places near the port were shut on Sundays though when the EB sailed so make sure you check the office times.

Does anybody know if you can book round trip air with the departure and return dates being five months apart???

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Absolutely or just book two one-ways if need be. I know a lot of people are concerned with being looked at suspiciously for booking one way fares but with everyone buying air tickets online loads of people only book one way with a particular airline and return with another. I do it all the time and never get questioned about it.

I may be wrong but most return trips need to be taken within 1 year for air tickets.

More of an issue is where will you be in those 5 months and will they let you stay that long without throwing you out? :rotfl:

What happens if the flight we book through DCL is delayed? Will they hold the ship for us?

I'm asking b/c on all of our other trips, we make sure we arrive the night before to make sure we are on time.

Last time a group were delayed from Washington on a DCL flight. Disney didn't actually delay the ship they took them to Gibralter where they then met up with the cruise.

Thank you for the information. Did they have a sail away party at 9:30 at night then? It doesn't really matter, I'm just wondering.

On the last one we stayed there overnight so had the sailaway at 5 the next day I would assume they will do the sailaway at 9:30pm this time

Hi everyone.
Another two passengers for the Westbound Magic in September. There are just two of us (adults) sailing. :cool1:

Will post all of our details on the rollcall, get a W.B. signature soon.

I cant believe how many pages this thread is running over too already.

Of course we are both very excited to be on this cruise. :yay: :yay:

Took awhile for me to see this - was at a beerfest all day! :thumbsup2

But it looks great, of course. :cool1:

I'm guessing because he's such a Disney fan himself that he knows about the DIS. You know that he won the Phenomenon TV show, right? I'm on his email list so I get his emails periodically telling what he's up to and where his next shows are going to be.

FYI - Here's the email I sent him and his reply - I'm so funny!:rotfl:
Mike,

I originally saw you on the Disney Wonder in Jan '07 and then voted repeatedly for your win on Phenomenon. So I had high hopes and expectations about seeing you again on DCL because I was booked on the East Bound Panama Canal cruise. I know you're a big time star now, but I knew that Disney books nothing less than the best - especially for special cruises. My hopes were further boosted when I heard that you performed on the West Bound PC cruise - how could they not treat us as well? Then my dreams were shattered when I arrived onboard and did not see your name on the entertainment list. I accosted one of the cruise staff to ask about the extreme injustice of the situation and was "assured" that they had someone "just as good." Now I don't want to demean anyone who obviously works hard at his craft, so all I'll say is the "singing magician's" show was the most non-lavenous experience I've ever had. : )

So I'll give you the chance to remedy the situation by scheduling a show somewhere close to Atlanta anytime in the near (far) future. Don't you want to come to the South when the temperature starts to drop? I promise we would show our best southern hospitality.

Thanks so much,
Kimberly

and his reply...
LOL... thanks Kimberly!

You need to post that on the disboards. :)

There are dates in the works for the south as we speak! So rest assured, as soon as they are finalized, You'll know about them.

Thanks so much for your continued support!

Stay Lavenous!

Mike

Hilarious! I signed up for his emails back in 2006 when we saw him on the Wonder, but stopped getting them. I'll have to track down the list again.... thanks! :goodvibes

Love skyline! We buy the packets and make it ourselves and they are pretty good. In fact, my husband makes it for Halloween and serves it in the driveway. We have a huge crowd. I think it is better then the can - have you tried the packet?

no i have never tried the packet, i will have to get my uncle to send some to me.

Hi everyone!

I just changed my hotel from the AB Skipper to the Hilton Diagonal Mar. I am saving over $180.00!! I am really surprised at the hotel rates in Europe! I rather spend the money on shopping then one night stay at a hotel.

Karen, I'm assuming you booked the hotel through DCL? While I would never call hotels in major European cities cheap, there are some nice rates to be had. For anywhere beteen €80/€120,- you can have a very nice hotel (3 or 4 stars) and if you want to go cheap, you can get something for around €40,- when willing to share a room with others. And of course; all and anything in between. Travelling solo does make it more expensive (know all about that :headache: ) but it still can be done. :)

Renting a private appartment can be very attractive for groups but sometimes can also be an affordable option for a solo.

It can be done, but be sure to read the 'fine print'. Don't know about the US websites, but a lot of the European sites for comparing airfare don't 'recognize' the dates being that far apart. They will offer flights on the right date, but for prices where the rules wouldn't let you book that far apart. So before booking; read the rules for that specific fare. If you are unsure you can allways use a travelagent offcourse, but they can be booked by yourself also if you take the time to read up. :thumbsup2

They can be more expensive though, so compare this option to getting 2 seperate roundtrips. Doubt if this would be cheaper for US-EU, but we have found instances where it was cheaper. More or less the same thing with a roundtrip being cheaper than booking the same flight as a one way.

Can anyone let me know if the website is down for them? I can pull it up fine and so can my husbands laptop but I want to make sure that it is working for everyone.

The website comes up just fine for me both from the link in your signature and the one in post one. I don't know what is different about me:confused3

:lmao: Well, I'll be home in Arizona for those five months.

It's the one way fares I'm trying to avoid, as they are rarely half of a round trip....not unlike booking a solo cabin on the ship! :rotfl:

.

Not sure what the problem was...I wipped everything clean. Please let me know if you can access it now.

Jackie is up to something.... :rotfl:

5 months. . .taking both transatlantics are ya?;)

Well, lets just say I'm looking at it. :rolleyes1 Certainly is a good value for your vacation dollar. 28 days on the Magic for about $125 a day (for my portion). A cat 11 on the way over, a cat 7 on the way back. Plus another $1000-1200 for round trip airfare Barcelona/Phoenix and back again. A hotel in Barcelona for each trip.

I get five weeks vacation starting next year, so the one thing I have is time, just not a lot of money.
