You are right! OMG!

That is so exciting!!!!

For those of you who have done the TA before, do you get on the Magic as early as you can on the day we set sail? Or do you tour the city more and then get on board later in the day?

I would say board around lunch time then get off and explore. As long as you are back for the boat drill you can get on and off when ever you want. That was what we did!

Well hello there! Are you going to be calling this cruise a birthday present...I am. So what if it's two months(ish) early! :lmao: Who would have believed that the little four day DCL 'experiement' would lead to all this cruising madness!

Hmmm...I hadn't thought of the birthday present angle. Let me think.

Thinking....

ummm...

...NO!

Yes, I want to have my cake and eat it, too.

I think a lot of you did the last EB Panama Canal cruise????

I'm spending 3 nights at the Disneyland Hotel before we sail out of San Pedro for a Panama Canal cruise on Coral Princess.

Does anyone have tips on the best transportation method between Disney and the port? Has anyone done a one-way car rental?

Thanks!

Wendy

aww you be wise little one , but it would take a whole lot more the 3 tequila's for me to hit the floor ... Heck 3 isnt even an appetizer :lmao: :lmao: Just ask Monica when we were doing Tequila shots at 8:45 am in Acapulco waiting for the cliff divers ... Oh wait .. is there a pic ??? Hmmmmm

and didn't we have 3 before 9:30am???

I just realized there is going to be someone from every cruise I've ever been on, on THIS cruise! :woohoo:

I know some of my pals from the Nov 06 Double Dip have signed up, but haven't shown up here yet!

And PEG, you remember PJ from the WB Panama (you know, the cruise you cancelled) thread, not the DD cruise.

Anyone one have a clue what the approximate cost would be for a overnight train from Paris to Barcelona (single adult), and could this be a option for arriving the day of the cruise, good/bad?

Pj

Here's the website for the train
http://www.eurorailways.com/products/night_trains/paris_to_barcelona.htm

Did this last year and it was great. Left Paris Friday evening and arrived at the port even before they allowed us to start boarding.

One word of caution, if traveling solo, the only way you would get your own cabin is by buying the 1st class or Gran class. These are the 2 person sleepers, the Gran also has a bathroom. If you book in the Tourist class they will put you in with others of the same gender, even if you book 4 tickets. If the conductor sees that there are empty beds and he has others to put in there, he will, even if you bought all the seats.

I booked a 1st class, there were 2 of us and I believe it was just over $200 including transfers to the train station in Paris and to the port in Barcelona. Another cruiser arranged for a group rate since there were several of us that had done DL Paris prior to the cruise.

Great question! I would really like to know the answer to this as well. DCL has us on the red-eye from Minneapolis, so we'll get in to Barcelona in the morning, and it looks like the ship doesn't leave until 9:30 pm.

Krista

Last time we boarded on Saturday but didn't set sail until Sunday. I was at the port so early just because of the arrival of the train. Boarded as soon as they would let us and as soon as my room was ready I dropped off all my carry ons. Then headed out to explore the city and do a pre-arranged tour of the Chocolate Museum. Actually missed the life boat drill that was scheduled that day, instead of Sunday before we actually set sail.

So, this time I'd probably do the same, board as soon as I can to offload everything, then head out to the city.

That reminds me, Todd if I don't make it on the cruise, you'll have to take Destin to the Chocolate Museum for me.

Primtime and Supershuttle are the most popular. There's a coupon for Supershuttle here http://www.anaheimoc.org/Articles/Archive/Webpage10153.asp#transportation

I wouldn't recommend a one way car rental. Enterprise is the only car rental in the area and they charge a huge one way fee. Plus, if you are sailing on a Sunday, Enterprise is closed on Sundays.

We actually chartered 4 huge busses for all the pirates staying in the DL area. We had some glitches, but we all arrived at the port......eventually.

:lmao: Well, it's true, I'd fully expect a complete birthday celebration on the excat day too!

Stephanie, are you working on the priates web sit? I can't get it to open.

:confused3

Monica, I will have to pick your brain on the overnight train, it is looking more and more likely. A flight from Toronto to BCN seems to always have at least two stops via Iceland or Dublin, lol. It would be a similar price (>$700) to fly to Paris then take a train (no hotel in BCN needed) to BCN and would be more interesting. If I can get the extra day off, might even have time to visit DLP for a day or two.

Hmmm...well, in that case, I'll have to consider a birthday brunch with old friends!

What happens if the flight we book through DCL is delayed? Will they hold the ship for us?

I'm asking b/c on all of our other trips, we make sure we arrive the night before to make sure we are on time.
