Sept 18 2010 WB TransAtlantic Pirates/Capt Jacks Re-Repoing Repossession Cruise Pt.9

The reason I've been posting so much today is I'm home from work. I have broncitis. Happy, happy, joy, joy. But better this week than next.

This will give my co-workers a dry run as to how to survive for the 18 days I'll be gone.

Well I do not care what restaurant I am in. But I am annoyed at how we try and plan for a group of nearly 400 and DCL just thinks it can do what it wants.

We will all be checking the update board. Cause I bet when we get on it will change again.!!!

But we need to find a night for our MMC shirts. Some people paid alot of money getting shirts for this event. Me not so much

Maybe DCL should be made more aware of how big this group is.

Also how come we do not hold a big Dis gathering like Cruise Critics does???

Do they get a special deal.????

Oh and for the person that is working on changing the time they go to sleep and get up I had to laugh.

Hubby goes to bed every night at 9:00pm and gets up at 5:00am for work.

Me it is more like 10:00 getting up at 5:30

So, DCL knows exactly how big our specific DIS group is. THey have been to the website, and have commented on what a great group we seem to have.

I think that they issue at hand is the person I was working with didn't give a crap. She was warned at the sizes of the groups, etc, and seems to have put off until the last minute. Now she is on the last Med cruise of the season, so we are the least of her concern.

I sent everything to her associate, and to Autumn at Concierge. Groups replied to me at 1145 that Autumn would be in contact. Well, yeah... Autumn sent me the lists at 1030. So, lesson learned, if you hace access to concierge, enlist their help immediately.

As of now we have ALL PRIVATE DIS tastings. I just have a couple of conflicts that we are trying to resolve. We only had to split one group - Martini as there were 70 of us. So, we are doing well! I will post all that I know tonight.

As for CC. To be honest there isn't a large group over there for this cruise, so I am not sure what they are getting...

I think we ARE having several big gatherings, more so than Cruise Critic. I don't have time to be on CC as well as keep up here though, so maybe they do something really big that I don't know about. What kind of gathering do they have?

DCL does know how big the DIS is and usually gives us a shout out on the special itineraries where there are big groups of us. They also lurk here and try to keep their finger on our pulse. Although sometimes we are a moving target!

As to the change....several of us just could not believe that they would be doing formal night on a port day, just based on previous experience. How would we have time to get all our mentionables tightened up?

Not sure whey the change either - but it is what it is. I just appreciated the heads up...

Maybe a stupid question... But... do you think they make offial pics on every formal night?

Lynne, Fantastic time on the half marathon. There's nothing like beating your personal best (not that I would know lately!).

For all of you effected by the dining changes, I hope you get it worked out.

Had a bit of panic last night when I was doing the advance passenger info. Got out DH's passport and it was expired! But he showed me the little note where it had been extended until summer 2011 - by the consul in Serbia. So I'm thinking this may raise a few red flags, and ask if he's traveled out of the country with this passport since then. "Sure!" he says. And shows me the exit Afghanistan/enter and exit Pakistan stamps.

We are so getting detained by passport control.

I just reached my pre-cruise goal weight!!!!! Mind you, I'm no skinny Minnie, but I feel so much better!!!! I have another week to lose a couple more, too!!!! Hu-freaking-rrah!!!!!

I'm excited to announce that my new Kindle that DH got me for my birthday finally arrived today! (my birthday was 8/12). So I'll have it for the trip and not have to read on my blackberry the whole time!

We don't put small ones out, and I rescue spiders from the bath. It is just those big ones I think should go outside!!! Actually I should put them all in the conservatory as we normally have a whole load of flies coming in there.

We have a good friend here that has a terrible infection in his hand from a spider bite. He will be going back to the doctor tomorrow since it is not getting better with the antibiotics they have him on. And our DD contracted MRSA from a spider bite a few years ago....I do NOT like them and I smash them! I use the fly swatter to do their job of killing flies.

In Australia a phobia of spiders can be a healthy thing to have as many of them are deadly. however i am fine with spiders, but snakes or leaches - bad, very bad.

EEEWWW! Leaches and snakes ARE worse!
