Hey Todd (& anyone else who is curious)----

You asked yesterday where we were staying in Barcelona and I couldn't remember off the top of my head but I looked at our paperwork today to verify (we booked our air and pre-cruise hotel through DCL). We are at the "Hilton Diagonal Mar" in Barcelona. (Our TA told us this is one of the nicer resorts that DCL was using to put up folks---it is not where we had originally booked as we really only wanted a convenient bed so we went with one of the cheaper options...but several months ago when the prices for the Med cruise dropped so dramatically and many of us rebooked and got back large refunds we did so and it actually switched/upgraded us to this resort----so that was our pixie dust, I guess! ;)) We arrive at 9am hope to be at the hotel by noon or 1 at the latest (no idea what to expect from baggage and customs, etc.).....Honestly I'm not entirely sure where in Barcelona it is. Jason is/was doing all that research. I do know that we had hoped to spend the day doing a HOHO bus tour, maybe Park Guell, strolling las Ramblas and then magic fountain at night----but we heard from friends the fountain doesn't "perform" on Tuesdays :sad1:----we we'll have to figure out what we'll do instead.

Gotcha , customs is pretty fast , or at least it was the last time I was in Barcelona ...I think we were off the plane and at our hotel in about 30 minutes from landing ..(honestly it was fast)

We are staying at the Pratik Barcelona ...we get in around 7:50 pm Tuesday night , so hopefully we will be strolling the Rambla around 9ish ...we wont get to see much of Barcelona before we get on the ship but we may get off when we return and do the Go Cars (GPS guided tour cars) http://www.gocartours.es/ did this in San Francisco and its a great way to tour a city ...

If your out an about Tuesday night we may see you guys

Oh my, I have a headache.:headache: Not a real one, but a spare bed and clothes rail absolutely crammed full of my clothes. And, I haven't finished yet.:scared1::scared1: :scared1: Sun tops and shorts to go through yet. I could wear something different for every night of the trip, honestly, and I don't know what to chuck out. I want to take everything and have choice.

Then, on the floor, and in a carrier bag, are THINGS. You know, a huge collection of bits n bobs put aside to pack. Toiletries, books, travel tissues, sun cream, jewellery, bags, etc etc. Oh, and FE gifts!!! :scared1: Tomorrow I start on the shoes. Goodness me. I need a lie down.:rolleyes1 John is not going to be pleased.

Florida weather?

OK...so I have actually been TRYING to avoid looking at the weather. We love traveling to Orlando in September because crowds are often lighter after Labor Day and it's cheaper to use points, etc....but the sucky thing is hurricanes.

My mom emailed me this morning and wanted to know if Earl & Fiona (the two storms in the Atlantic right now that will probably be impacting the East Coast over the weekend) are goign to affect our trip. I honestly didn't know because, like I said, I've been avoiding looking at it (because it's not like we will change our vacation plans :rotfl2:).

Anyhow...any of you Floridians have a sense? I looked on weather.com and it looks like the weather forecast for WDW area is actually decent for the whole weekend until Monday when tehre will be scatter T-storms....adn it looks like both the storms are going to stay out to sea----and Earl will already be up by New England by Sunday(ish). So is the Orlando area expecting either storm to really impact them? And what about us B2B folks who are flying out of Orlando and/or Atlanta on Monday afternoon----is either storm expected to mess up our travel? (Fiona looks like she is going to be in the northern Florida/Georgia area on Sunday/Monday but she's not that strong----50mph, right? Although I'm not a pilot or a meteorologist...so I ahve no idea what the impact of 50mph winds over the ocean would be on a TransAtlantic flight).

I guess we're lucky that our flight has us arriving more than a day early...so if we do have delays, all we lose is Barcelona time...and no ship time! :)

Well I also have a pirate Oregon Duck T-shirt that my daughter gave me!

Paul
:thumbsup2

Thank you, Noel, very very helpful!

She is so helpful, isn't she? I think there is no other thread with a better welcome wagon! :goodvibes

OT and funny story from yesterday... gotta love kids.
Sitting at church yesterday and 2 rows in front of us sat a young familywith 2 kids. The little boy was about 4 or 5 and the baby girl was about 1.
The little boy was fussing with a toy and making comments like" it's not right, here this is better". A few seconds later he stood his Mr. Potatohead on the banister going up to the pulpit. In view of everyone! :goodvibes He looked at it and started fussing again... Mr Potatohead #2 showed up!

Again he sat down for a few seconds and took Mr. P #1 down and fixed him, putting 3 arms on him and a hat.By now Howard and I are almost in tears watching this show. Mr. P #2 came down and was adjusted with 2 ears where the eyes should go and a leg for a mouth.

I couldnt watch any more ... I was starting to giggle and now tears are running down my face. This continues for the last 5 minutes of services, and before leaving, he told his mom that his friends were not done yet.
I have to admitt... that was the most entering church service I've been too in a long time.popcorn:: What a great day!

Annie

Morning all. Quick question, has anyone had a random refund from DCL? I've had around £10 credited back to my credit card on the 28th Aug for no apparent reason? Anyone hazzard a guess why?
Nice!:woohoo:

Just 2 weeks today and we will be hurtling(I hope) down the M1 to Heathrow Airport ready for our flight to Barcelona!!
We will be in Miami 2 weeks from today, waiting to board to Barcelona 2 weeks from tomorrow!!:yay:

I am having serious problems with the darn pirate costume. And then I saw someone said they were wearing their t-shirt! Yay!! I'm hereby done! goodvibes:

I have my gown for formal night, my outfit for villian night, my pink for champagne day, my tiara, the materials for my f.e's and all of the kids f.e. are done. I have my drugs for the medicine chest, my packsafe, my cameras and tripod, several cards (enough for 30,000 pictures, I really think enough) I have blank dvds. I have 18 days worth of mentionables, 3 swimsuits, coverups, socks, Crocs, sandals, sun tan lotion and sun screen lotion, curling iron, dressy shoes, shorts, jeans, tshirts and makeup.

I am waiting on my spanx, my drivers license renewal, and the logo for my MMC shirt. I should have it all by Friday.

Are we there yet????QUOTE]

So, are you excited or what? ;):goodvibes:yay::dance3:
Looks like we will be in good company with our pirate shirts!pirate:

We are doing a bit of both. Wearing pirate t-shirts with pirate accessories. My hubby does have a Jack Sparrow costume. But hated the hat well hated the whole out fit cause it was too hot and itchy. My husband is really a princess in disguise. Cause he can not sleep it there is one crumb on the bed :rotfl:
Yay! More matching outfits!pirate: Dennis has a couple of pirtate costumes as well, but they are a bit uncomfortable and so I think we will just keep the weight down and do the shirts!

We are wearing Pirates of the Caribbean T-Shirts (can't remember which movie they are for) as we are at Palo that night so don't want to have to get too dressed up after dinner!

If they stay on their projected paths you should be fine. :thumbsup2 Who knows what will be happening in a month when we get back to Orlando. Hoping it will settle down for our return across the Atlantic as well.

Yes it does Angie!!! He's a man so he will be very proud of how little he is taking!!!;) I am bound to get a comment or ten, even when I have cut down on everything!!!

Not sure on Florida weather but the flight will be fine. They have 2 different routes they take for the weather so hopefully it will just take the better of the two and not do much. Also depends on the direct of the winds. They usually avoid them so it should be fine. May be a short delay but I doubt it will be too much!

Hi

Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish and Dan's Spanish is OK but more touristy than real Spanish. Welcome onboard!

Just have to share...

Ya know when you are on the Magiv and you meet wonderful CM's, and you think, these people are wonderful?

Well, on our first DCL trip we met a bar server - Victor form Chile. He took very good care of our party of 17 people. We did the whole comment card about him, and sent in an additional letter that mentioned him as well. In addition we had Maricar for the Philippeans as our stateroom hostess, and did the comment cards nd letters for her as well.

They were both wonderful, and we thought of them when we booked our trip for last September. We boarded last year and someone said welcome back to us and we didn't think twice, said thank you and kept on going. Well, that was Victor! Later that day we saw Maricar who laughed and hugged the kids, commented on how much they had grown. It was like seeing family that you hadn't seen for years...

Well, this afternoon I logged into FB and noticed a chat window had opened. It was Victor telling me happy birthday. It isn't like he is trying to get a head start on a tip - he is on the Wonder! He logged on at sea and happened to notice it was my birthday and took the time to chat with me. I so wish that we would be seeing him, but he is getting off the Wonder next week and going on vacation. I completely forgot to ask if he is getting on the Dream or back on the Magic!

I'm telling you, this is why I LOVE Disney!! The people do it for me!!

Wow! Happy belated b-day by the way . . .sounds like it was special!!

I'm with you on this, too. Sue. It is amazing the feeling of peace and being home we get when step onto the Magic each time. It's one of the highlights of the trip. It is like coming home again.

The CMs are special and make such a difference. On one trip, one of kids decided to crack open one of the glow sticks from the night before and got some of the stuff in his eyes. Our server, (golly now his name is escaping me) helped my hubby carry him to the infirmary (in the bowels of the ship). He checked on him a few times after. On our next trip, he remembered my son and asked him how he was doing from that exciting event. It was at least a year later!

On our last trip, we really connected with our dinner servers. Since they were docking in Norfolk for the two week ship refurb just a week after our trip, we invited them to come to our home for dinner. We know it is difficult for them to get a home cooked meal while on board. My hubby picked them up at the port and we all had a blast that night. We still keep in touch (even though our servers are no longer with DCL).

Well on to waiting to see what Earl decides to do . . .

No idea, but take the money and run, er, cruise ;).

I got my eBooks all sorted and the Reader is synchronizing as I type this. I got some books for the Med cruise that I never got around to reading ("World Without End" by Ken Follett, "Tea Time for the Traditionally Built" by Alexander McCall Smith, "61 Hours" by Lee Child, "Burn Marks" by Sara Paretsky, "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown and "Cruel and Unusual" and "The Body Farm" by Patricia Cornwell). Specifically for this vacation I got "9th Judgement" by James Patterson, "The Burning Wire" by Jefferey Deaver, "The Chosen One" by Sam Bourne, "The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World" by Susan Veness (for our post cruise stay), "The Ice Cream Girls" by Dorothy Koomson, "The Killing Place" by Tess Gerritsen and "The Angel's Game" and "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I admit that 15 books might be a bit much even for me as some of them are quite long ones as well, but the beauty is that the Reader takes up the same room whether it contains 1 book or 50. At least this way I have something to read for whatever my mood is.

I'm a reader too, but you've got me beat! :worship: I went to the library on Thursday and had one of those rare days when you find so many books that you want to read, you come home w/way more than you can reasonably handle. But I took them anyway. Two of my scores were The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest and The Shadow of the Wind.:banana::banana:

Bienvenidos! For someone with limited English, you do very well. What part of Spain are you from?

Yo hablo un poco de Espanol, but I learned a very long time ago in high school. So I can ask where the restroom is and tell you that I'm hungry and thirsty and cold or hot.

Hola y bienvenidos! :wave2: Puede hablar y puede escribir un espanol pequeno.

I know someone has probably posted this already but I missed it. Anyone know what entertainment we can look forward to besides the usual? Any stars/acts that are TransAtlantic extras? What went on during the EBTA? Just curious...

184 ft. of home, sweet home!!! We have a room number!!! 6133!

No upgrades, but I'm happy about it! It's in the back of the ship near the stairs. 3-4 flights up to pools and food, a couple of flights down to more food. I love being in the back near stairs!!!!

and one short flight up to morning yoga!
