Sundays at Tiffany's is one of the books that I have never gotten around to read. Maybe this should go on my list.

Corinna

Give it a go Corinna, it's a little different too :)

Its tiring ok !!! what do you do at the gym, the eliptycal trainer is one of my favs and the rowing machines.

The bike & treadmill, and the wave rider I like, plus some of the resistance/Keiser machines....I have no idea of names Lynne!:rolleyes1

:woohoo::woohoo:

I don't know if you have heard of or read his "Maximum Ride" series, but the premises is rather similar. The book is all about winged children, who even have the same names as the ones in the "Maximum Ride" books. He claims that the Maximum Ride series is not based on "When The Wind Blows", but some of the back story of the Maximum Ride books is remarkably close to "When The Wind Blows". There is also a sequel called 'The Lake House", which is also a fantastic book.

Corinna

Read and loved all the Maximum Ride books as part of my research when I was YP librarian......loved being paid for reading!:thumbsup2...........:cool1:

:littleangel:

Michael, Thank you so much! I tried a number of times and searched the web for instructions but you had it right away. Thanks again. Val

You're quite welcome. It does help that I speak a little Spanish!

You have every ride to get confused with all the people doing different things on that tour plus the St. Maarten tour. I am very grateful that you have taken all this work on. It is just that I had an absolutely awful day and I just jumped to the worst possible conclusion.

Thank you for your kind words!! If I would have read that bad day or no, I would have freaked as well!!

Mistake it was and I own up to it!!

Well done on finally getting your documents.

Corinna

Speaking of documents, we finally got our as well. Of course, DH said to me, where are my luggage tags as they only sent two!!

It is amazing to me that documents mailed from Disney in Florida to our TA main office in Ft. Lauderdale would take this long to be mailed to us. They at least send them second day Federal Express.

Anyone else refuse to do mani/pedi's on the ship? I just got back from my first 2-week OPI manicure (gel nails or whatever they're called). It's my trial run to see what they look like in 2.5 weeks so I know whether I can handle it for the cruise.
I had a manicure for my Vow Renewal back in 2007 and it was rather poor. And not cheap!

I have gel nails at the moment - week 3 and had the infills yesterday. I'm a huge fan. Do you have a colour or French? French last better IMO as it's less obvious when they grow out. I currently have my favourite 'pillar box red' but think I'll switch to a French for the cruise. It's easy to update it with a coat of something sheer and sparkly too...

Me too!

On Holland America, we send out our laundry all the time. It's lovely ... it comes all folded and wrapped in tissue paper in a wicker basket. Anyway, one cruise, Mike and I got back someone's stained, ripped, big girl underpants. You know ... that pair. I turned them back into our room steward saying that they weren't ours, carefully wrapped back up in the tissue paper of course. I then imagined them going from room to room trying to find someone to claim that hot mess. I learned very quickly not to send anything out that I wouldn't be embarrassed to have delivered to someone else's cabin!
That's great advice!!! :teeth:

Sandi, you're just like me...big James Patterson fan......and I too still prefer my books in the old fashioned way....like you say, maybe one day....:rolleyes1:goodvibes

:littleangel:
I like loads of JP's books. My absolute-all-time fave was one of his more unusual offerings - The Jester. Brilliant, brilliant book... :worship:

Our two favorites as well!!

To be fair, not a chance of me ironing 9 shirts so maybe thats why he is not sweet !!

You are going to love this, I only iron when we travel. I usually unpack and iron at the same time.

Otherwise here at home.everything that needs to be ironed goes to the cleaners.

Don't sew either. Not even buttons.

On this cruise as they don't allow irons in the room, I will send things out or sneak to the laundry room if things are no too crumpled
.

I have 10 nights to work..............:woohoo:

:woohoo::woohoo:

Almost time to celebrate!!

Also, I bought a new book from James Patterson called "The Postcard Killers" and stamped on the front it says, "The scariest vacation thriller ever". I don't know if it is on the kindle or if anyone likes those kinds of books, but I am sure it will be great. I read all of his. I am old-fashioned and still prefer to buy the book and hold it. :rotfl2: Maybe one day I will switch.

I have a Sony reader given to me as a gift and I have yet to use it. Opened it, tried to download but just didn't get around to it so essentially, unused. I really need to use it. But with audiobooks, its so much easier to multi-task.

I read Lake House and thought it was decent. Always wanted to read more but was confused with it NOT being tied to WTWB. Never could decipher if it was or wasn't. LOL

I just open another window and let the Dis load at it's leisure while I go elsewhere, but sometimes I can't be bothered either.

Hey! I do that too and like you - sometimes I just shut it down.

I had totally forgotten about this. I loved this, too. I have to find this and read it again.

On another note?

While I haven't started packing, I have started with the appts. Now to find that eye doctors number. LOL

First appt later today, then 2nd on Saturday. :woohoo:

:scratchin Sometime I have to find time to pack.

Believe me, this makes me feel a little more secure. I just have to figure out how to get to the Barceloneta station from our hotel then shoot over to the rail station.

Dan,

Unfortunately, there is no bus service between the Barceloneta Metro and Barceloneta Beach where the W is located. It's almost exactly one mile from the hotel to the Metro (about a twenty minute walk for most). You may want to just take a taxi from the hotel right to Barcelona Placa Espanya for about 10-12 Euros.

The strength of a refrigerator magnet (very similar to the types of magnets used for door decorations) is about 50 gauss (measured at the surface). If you measure 1 foot away, it drops to .001 gauss, at 7 feet (the air shipping requirement), it drops to virtually 0.

So, unless you are putting up your door decorations with a 1" X 1" X 3" neodymium-iron-boron magnet, you'll be fine!

Thank you.

It is quiet here today. Is everyone packing? Last minute shopping? Making magnets? Or....did folks get a life outside the DIS? :surfweb: We still have just a bit of shopping to do. I need a slip for my semi formal suit and Dennis needs a couple of new dress shirts. Then that is all.....I think.

Let's see: hem pants, make pirate vest, restock medicine cabinet, select meal type on airline, distribute emergency contact info to grandparents/neighbors, finish FE gifts, MAKE FE!!!!, fix hole in suitcase, sit down with 2 DSs to go over what's expected of them while we're gone, split up FE gifts between different suitcase piles, pick up new glasses, work on villians outfit, find box for tiara, do laundry, PACK, relax, breathe.........

:cutie:

Manicure? I concur - poor and expensive. I'll save my $65 (back about 5 yrs ago) and use it someplace else.

The Jester? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I had totally forgotten about this. I loved this, too. I have to find this and read it again.

Corinna

We heard this on a trip to somewhere, it was one of DH's first experiences with audiobooks. I'd been using them for months but he actually liked it. Helps the trip pass a bit easier.

Attention Jewellery Making People

Can I just ask you again to let me know when your kits arrive. At the moment there seem to be 11 packages MIA, three of which were mailed on August 16th (2 to USA and one to Canada) and the remaining ones were mailed on August 17th (one to Australia, two to Canada and 5 to USA). The ones that have arrived in the USA all took 6 days and we are well over this by now. Looks like Royal Mail hired a slow donkey to transport out packages.

Corinna

Ours have not arrived. Then again, I am not surprised because Canada Post is really sucky.

The bike & treadmill, and the wave rider I like, plus some of the resistance/Keiser machines....I have no idea of names Lynne!

I love the Wave machine - such a great low impact cardio machine... :thumbsup2

I got my butt back to the gym on Tuesday and will be there tomorrow. It's been a while and I'm a bit achy today. I tend to do cardio (Wave, treadmill, bike, rower) interspersed with free weights.

I think I've finally got my gymojo back!!! :yay:

Thank you.

.. sit down with 2 DSs to go over what's expected of them while we're gone, .........

:cutie:

::yes:: Yeah, good luck with that...we get the ::yes:: ::yes:: Mom, we are listening mom and as soon as we leave they promptly do as they please. But they will clean up on the day before arrival. I have it on good authority. :thumbsup2 While not always perfect, at least the house isn't borken into. Boys will be boys.

Thank you.

OK you def have more to do than me!

I have - pack, pack pack oh and hem jeans! Need to do that!

I got a Sony reader for my birthday last year and absolutely love it. It is a bit complicated to download books and then synchronize the reader to start of with, but once you get used to it, it is easy. I

The confusion arises that there are two "series" involving winged kids. The first one consists of "When The Wind Blows" and "The Lake House". Here in the UK, "The Lake House" was very openly marketed as a sequel to "When The Wind Blows". Then there is "Maximum Ride", which James Patterson insists is in no way linked to or based on the other two. However, the name of the kids in all books is identical, the descriptions of the kids are identical and some of the back story of the "Maximum Ride" series matches the storyline in the older books as well, but there are some significant differences as well. For me they all are escapism at its finest.

Not sure what a wave machine is but sounds interesting!

On a good note, I got 1 week left on my C25K program. Tomorrow starts my final week - W9D1. 30 min straight running. Wish me luck all. At least I know that I'll be in somewhat of a cardio fit shape for all our happenings.

Corinna

It completely changed my opinion of James Patterson - IMO it's as good as any traditional classic...
