What does this mean in Air magnet travel for dummies:confused3 what is guass mean?? My head hurts just reading this. Guess it means no magnets for me:confused3

Anyone know if magnets can be bought in Gibraltar?

From what mdwoodman posted, it will be OK. I did not get around to phoning cargo today as I was doing performance reviews all day, but I definitely will ring them tomorrow.

:confused3
I have read several threads that say you cannot bring magnets in your luggage. From where did this information come?

I work for an airline and some of my colleagues, especially the ones at the airport nearly had kittens when I mentioned that I had door magnets in my carry on coming back from my Med cruise. So I started to dig a bit deeper.

The strength of a refrigerator magnet (very similar to the types of magnets used for door decorations) is about 50 gauss (measured at the surface). If you measure 1 foot away, it drops to .001 gauss, at 7 feet (the air shipping requirement), it drops to virtually 0.

So, unless you are putting up your door decorations with a 1" X 1" X 3" neodymium-iron-boron magnet, you'll be fine!

Thanks for this.

I gauss this means we can bring our magnets!! (pun intended)

:lmao: I like your pun.

Thanks everyone for the wahoos and everything , this Day has gotten even better as we have found out through the help of our State Senator Harry Reid , Helens son Seans immigration case has been expedited and the Embassy in Manila contacted me this evening to tell me Seans interview will be Sept 17th , which means he will finally be with us in Vegas 1 or 2 days after we get back from the cruise ..:banana: -

Today has been a great day and I thank all of you for the well wishes and thank God for watching over us , he has done some amazing things in my life and he never fails me when I need him most ....:littleangel:

pirate:

That is wonderful news :thumbsup2

WOW

I have not been around for a bit and you have not pnly started another thread, but you are almost 90 pages in. Geesh.

DSis' vow renewal got moved tot he 21st at 4 pm. We are doing the beading class from 2 to 3. Hope we will not be to rushed.

Otherwise we are still on target.

If it gets to hectic, I can always meet up with you two at a different time to make the jewellery. It is not that I would be going anywhere most days.

Might add, doing an "Excellent" job :grouphug:

Question to Maderia Daniel Taxi Tour, who is planning on swimming at Porto Santo pools? :goodvibes

Info will be used to convince Di...:happytv:

Walt :cool1:

We were definitely hoping to have a swim, put we were hoping for the volcanic pools. I Googled Porto Santo and there are two things that concern me. First of all there is no mention of volcanic pools and secondly, according to everything that I found, Porto Santo is not actually on Madeira itself, but a neighbouring island 27 miles away.

Hi Guys! & Gals! Just had my termite inspection and the guy that does it built a hotel in St. Maarten. He said everyone who likes liquor has to go to the Guava Berry Emporium. I have never been there but he highly recommends it and was very jealous of all of us heading over there. He said it is great in mixed drinks or even ice tea.

Also, I bought a new book from James Patterson called "The Postcard Killers" and stamped on the front it says, "The scariest vacation thriller ever". I don't know if it is on the kindle or if anyone likes those kinds of books, but I am sure it will be great. I read all of his. I am old-fashioned and still prefer to buy the book and hold it. :rotfl2: Maybe one day I will switch.

Thanks for this. I love James Patterson's books. I just checked this out and in the UK, it is available in ebook format. I think I might just have to download this for the cruise.

Corinna

Noel, I like my Kindle very much. I always use it with the cover so I have more of the feeling of holding a book. I love that Amazon has free books as well, and have downloaded more than a few of them. I also love that you can simply put a cursor to a word and the dictionary definition appears. Of course I've never used a Nook or iPad, so take my review for what it's worth. :)

May I ask which one you have? I am using the 1st generation Kindle but thinking of buying the Kindle DX.

I have the 2nd generation one. I got it for Christmas. Amazing how quickly they are coming out with new, improved, even cheaper options!

Actually the pools are Porto Moniz volcanic pools, copied and pasted Porto Santo incorrectly. :confused3

Thanks

I bought business card paper and Dennis still needs to print up some thank yous to hand out to CMs both on the ship and at WDW. That is such a fun thing to do. A CM helping us onto the DCL bus actually cried when we gave her one. Guess not many people take the time to actually say thank you. :sad2:

What a neat thing to do! :) It's too bad more people can't take the time to say "thank you".

I don't think you got this wrong. If I remember correctly, you are also on Van 2. I got an update from Noel today and it definitely stated that the opportunity to swim would be at Porto Santo. If it is in fact Porto Moniz, then there is nothing stopping us going for a swim. Apart from the wine tasting, this is probably the thing I am most looking forward to.

I have made an error saying it was Porto Santo. The swimming is definitely at the Porto Moniz complex.

I have made an error saying it was Porto Santo which I think is where we are going to lunch. I think they are nearby but the swimming is definitely at the Porto Moniz complex.

I just PMed you as I was in a bit of a panic. Thanks for clarifying this.

I just checked out the link for the restaurant and it is also in Porto Moniz. I am so glad about this, I was just about getting ready to cancel as there is no way that I would leave the island to go to another one.

I am so glad I have some book buddies. Between you and Corrina, if I finish, I am more than happy to share. I would LOVE to keep all the books I read, but unfortunately I don't. I figure they are better off with someone else who will get just as much enjoyment rather than on my shelf looking pretty. Do you have a fave of his. I always liked Honeymoon and Lifeguard, but the Women's Murder Club is my fave series!

My favourite James Patterson book is "When The Wind Blows", which is also the first I have ever read. My favourite series are the Alex Cross novels, but I can honestly say that I have yet to read one of his books that I did not enjoy. They make perfect vacation reading as the chapters are so short.

I don't think I have ever read When the Wind Blows, but not a fan of Alex Cross like the other novels. The chapters are very short, which I love. Even if I have5 minutes, I can finish one chapter.

You have every ride to get confused with all the people doing different things on that tour plus the St. Maarten tour. I am very grateful that you have taken all this work on. It is just that I had an absolutely awful day and I just jumped to the worst possible conclusion.

Our docs finally arrived today. Now it really seems real. Wooo-hoooo

Well done on finally getting your documents.

Sundays at Tiffany's is one of the books that I have never gotten around to read. Maybe this should go on my list.

Corinna

Good morning all!

Having a bit of quiet time with y'all before I start the day.

While you are all packing, I've done some unpacking: I'm reading the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon (published in the UK as 'Cross Stitch' I think) and just eating it up. I had to go get the 5th book out of my carry-on, as I am enjoying it so much! I still have the 6th book packed, and Tru has the 7th book packed - hopefully that will be enough. Anyone else like this book series?

r.
YES!!!! bloomin heck though, you cant put the dam things down !!!
Jamie:lovestruc

I hope they get this temperamental site sorted soon. One minute the posts come up straight away, the next it can take 5 minutes.
I know ,its a pain, sometimes I dont even try as I have no patience!

Back from the gym/swim....and goodness I am exhausted! Getting fit is such a tiring thing!:rolleyes1

Shall I send Mark over to give them lessons....he's wonderful!:lovestruc

:littleangel:
Its tiring ok !!! what do you do at the gym, the eliptycal trainer is one of my favs and the rowing machines.

Just been ironing Mark's shirts....and realised I now only have 9 more 'work' shirts to iron before our holiday!!!:dance3::dance3:

:littleangel:
To be fair, not a chance of me ironing 9 shirts so maybe thats why he is not sweet !!

I have 10 nights to work..............:woohoo:

I don't know if you have heard of or read his "Maximum Ride" series, but the premises is rather similar. The book is all about winged children, who even have the same names as the ones in the "Maximum Ride" books. He claims that the Maximum Ride series is not based on "When The Wind Blows", but some of the back story of the Maximum Ride books is remarkably close to "When The Wind Blows". There is also a sequel called 'The Lake House", which is also a fantastic book.

Attention Jewellery Making People

Can I just ask you again to let me know when your kits arrive. At the moment there seem to be 11 packages MIA, three of which were mailed on August 16th (2 to USA and one to Canada) and the remaining ones were mailed on August 17th (one to Australia, two to Canada and 5 to USA). The ones that have arrived in the USA all took 6 days and we are well over this by now. Looks like Royal Mail hired a slow donkey to transport out packages.
