Welcome Home Weeks Return 8/14 – 9/16 2025

I am looking for clarity about how the 40% dining discount works. DH and I are on one contract together. Then my DS and I are on a second contract together. We will have 9 of us plus an infant in a 2 BRV at SSR. Is it possible to split up the checks so the discount applies to everyone. For instance, say I put me and 3 people on one ticket, then DH puts him and 1 person on another ticket, then DS puts himself and 2 people on a third ticket. Is that allowed? All 3 of us have the DVC Y to show on our phones. DH and I are trying to make dining as cheap as possible for everyone else that is coming with us, as they are all on super tight budgets for this particular trip.

That is what I planning to do. There are 11 of us on the reservation, 4 with DVCY. Hopefully they will apply the discount across the whole meal, but if not we will ask to split the bill!
 
The Palm Breeze Bar special is on 8/20 and regular dining reservations opened today. Did anyone get a lunch reservation? I am wondering if they all filled up, or if DVC is holding back the reservations since it says to call on 8/1?
 
Typically, if there is more than one owner, they will sometimes even do it on the same check…but, I have heard a lot of stories that splitting the check definitely works!!

Ah I see, DL rather than WDW. I know nothing about that!
 
Made reservations today for brunch at whispering canyon and dinner at boatwrights. Will also enjoy the free daily ice cream at ssr. We usually don’t go during this time so nice surprise.
 
oh, sweet! Well, when I toured Poly recently I got a cute bag that says we're members, and a magnet, too. I'll take it!
It’s amazing how different the coasts are when giving out swag. WDW they will give us the magnets without requiring any info but only two where DL gave us 3 I assume because they say DS with us but it required our phone number. I asked for another magnet a day later at Starview station they entered our phone number and then it was like an alarm went off “No more magnets for this one!!!”

During our visit in January, my 7 year old was eyeing the buttons at the DVC booth that said "DVC Member" after the booth CM gave her a bunch of promotional Poly stickers. We hadn't said anything about being members or not, and my daughter asked if she could have one of the buttons. The CM apologized and said those were "only for members!", and then it got really awkward when I then had to explain we were members, but not "real" members....lol. My daughter did get her button though.

We are definitely going to try it. I just wasn’t sure if DH and I were considered 2 owners or 1 being on the same membership.

I agree that DLR seems super stingy about it and WDW more generous
 
I somewhat caught the end of the Welcome home weeks at Disneyland. I say somewhat because they were out of the tote bags when I asked at the VGC preview center. I then asked if I could still get the one during Oogie boogie bash and was told yes, I could get the one from the trick or treating at Oogie boogie bash if I had a ticket. When I went to the DCA preview center for trick or treating, I was given a rice crispy treat and a couple pieces of the same candy from all the other trick or treat trails. I asked about the tote bag and was told that they were out. It must have been the same bag....

We visited the coffee event before we were heading out. They had coffee, orange juice, whole fruits and a few pastries. There were signs by everything that read, "One per person." They gave us a ticket when we were scanned in and said there was a raffle. I noticed another member handing her ticket to a CM and getting something from them. My husband took our ticket over and the ticket gave us a very poorly screened magnet. You flip over the magnet and there's a sticker that corresponds to another prize. In our case, it was for a little blu tooth speaker. There were hats for other types of stickers.

Overall, it was a nice gesture. I was bitter about the tote (I was planning on using it for trick or treating), but that partially went away when they gave my husband the speaker because he seems happy about it.

Are these special things worth spending thousands of dollars for by buying direct? Oh, hell no. Not by a loooong shot. I bought direct for other reasons that are legitimate reasons.
