Looks like I may be doing the cruise alone. Hmmm... I'm okay once I'm aboard. It's the getting there that stinks. I've been to Barcelona twice before and wasn't intimidated WITH someone, and I've done many European cities alone, but this one is a little scary.

Use your ipad charger, just take out the cable and put the ipod shuffle (or it's cable) in the usb slot on the charger.

I will be using my ipad charger with different usb cables for my;

iPad
iPod
cell phone
spare travel power pod
and
BT ear piece (for the trip home).

This way 1 have one charger and three cables plus a converter for BCN.

Pj

Thank you so much! Why didn't I think of that????:confused3:confused3:confused3

I will have my iPhone and iPad with chargers for both so that will work.

I think I am brain dead from all the stuff I've been doing this weekend.

Looks like I am going to Madrid before Barcelona, anyone have suggestions for hotels there?

I leave San Francisco on the 10th.....I cannot believe it is already here! I've only been planning this for two months. I was a late comer! :dance3:

Ann, I will be traveling alone as well. I have 3 hours of work on the Wednesday, then a 3 hour bus to BUF, an over night before my flight to JFK in the morning and then the red-eye to BCN. It will be a couple of days travel and my very first time flying overseas.

I wasn't sure about doing either the Aerobus or a taxi, but it sounds like a taxi is only going to be about 5 euro more then the pre-booked bus service I was looking at. I had planned on 2+ hours from plane to hotel, but others are reporting closer to an hour. I might be ready to head out on the town by 9:30 am for the HOHO bus, perhaps a quick nap to refresh before the evening, a visit to the fancy department store (a sip of coffee at the roof top restaurant to see BCN from higher up,) HRC meet, fountains, then dinner is around 9 -10 pm, I am so going to crash, lol.

I do wear mine all the time. If you see something you must have at Bloomingdales before you go, let me know and you can have it shipped to me or I will pick it up at the store for you and bring to the Magic.

That is lovely of you Noel. I think with all I have spent recently I am going to have to wait until I wear a pair out to feel able to buy some more. I have Disney ones at the moment. Next oldest are light beige suede strap ones, but I wouldn't get pale ones again. My oldest, and summer 'slippers' now are the black basic, which I got over 3 years ago when they only had 3 colours as they were very new then.

I also love Birkenstocks, and could also wear those all day too.

::yes:: no porters and luggage carts are free over here and they are by the luggage carasouls once you exit that zone it's just a short walk down (like 1 min if that) an escalator to taxi zone. And just a bit further for the Aerobus. Look for the bus sign.

I did see some taxi drivers loading suitcases but I saw the same amount of owners loading their own suitcases in. Might be a man thing though. Remember, taxis are smaller. About 4 luggage is going to be tight.

There are taxi guides in uniform guiding folks and there was a never-ending taxi line when we got here.

Just another observation.

More great info thanks!:cool1:

I am sure that John and Mark will forget about us if they talk tech!!! They probably will forget they are even on vacation!!

Probably!:rolleyes1

Is your dh not coming? I'm sure you'll be fine....and there are lots of DIS friends to help you!:goodvibes

:littleangel:

I am trying to follow what I read on this site. Shows a picture and makes perfect sense to me.
shopping-barcelona-19.jpg

Oh dear, perhaps I need to do some more shopping.:rolleyes1 I was going to wear cropped trousers. I don't really think I would ever pass for anything other than a tourist to be honest though.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Me either as I am too blonde, plus people think both DH John and I look more German than American. However, I am going to dress up a bit more than normal. Don't I wish I could be that trim!!

I might just wear one of my beloved Monsoon dresses. I do agree with you whatever I wear, it will be obvious that we are tourists. The fact that we will be speaking English to each other and don't speak a word of Spanish will be more of a give away than our clothes.

Corinna

What about the DH's? :confused3 Shorts, jeans or casual pants?

Well, I guess that means I better practice my Spanish!!

Adios!! Nos vemos pronto en la Magia!! Esperamos tener buen tiempo!! No temperaturas más calientes o la lluvia!!
:thumbsup2
Noel, phones being funny. But not sure which one assuming it was B terminal. We unloaded from plane and walked an almost deserted wing (in a 2nd floor) directly into customs. Very easy and self-explanatory. Once u clear customs you are pushed to baggage claim area. And u will find carts there.

If I find out which terminal I'll post
It. But assuming it was B if A was old terminal. This one was all nice, spacious and very big and bright. Bathrooms are right by baggage claim and at least 10 stalls for women. Some things are important. ;)
Thanks for the updates!! We will be heading for the luggage carts straight away!!

Which terminal did you arrive in when you landed?

Mmmm, even though I don't feel i would be right in them in a big city, I'm thinking John might want to wear shorts if it is warm. Otherwise if it is raining or cooler he has long casual pants. I think jeans would be completely fine.

When are you flying in, Deanna? I'm traveling solo too and get into BCN at 10.15am on the morning of the 18th...

Pam, most spaniard men today wore long pants. Some wore nice docker type of pants. Those wearing shorts were usually tourist we walked Las Ramblas last night at 11'and even as warm as it was, long pants or jeans were worn. But if it's warm, wear what's comfortable. Otherwise you'll be miserable. Just keep an eye on your purse. Better yet keep a hand on it. :teeth: and don't get distracted. If you are bumped or jostled, check pants pockets, purses etc. Awareness is key.

Btw, last night (Saturday night) was not crowded at all. It was freaky strange. Not like 2007 at all

That is very helpful thank you. I think John will be in longs then. Perhaps we had better bring another pair. Pain.

I'm beginning to think I will just stay in the room. I want to enjoy it, not worry all the time.

Sorry to hear you may be doing the cruise alone. You might want to check page one to see if someone is arriving about he same time you are on the same day. Where are you staying?

My DD's friend Brittany lived in Madrid for a semester. I could ask her if you would like. Let me know.

I'm so jealous Corinna, I have been hankering over a pair of pink Croc flips

....wish I could get to one easily!:sad2:

Oh....btw I don't have tools and am leaving on the 17th...hth....:goodvibes

:littleangel:

They did not have any of the Crocband Flips in Manchester. I really was hoping to get the purple pair, but no such luck. If they had them, I would have offered to to get them for you. They have them for 15.96 on www.crocs.co.uk, but the shipping cost is fairly steep.

I have updated my spreadsheet with your information.

Though I love the croc flip flops, I love my Fitflops even better!! By the way, they are much cheaper here at Bloomingdales than in the UK.

I really want a pair of Fitflops, but they don't fit me. I have very high feet and just could not get my feet into them.

BTW, there are 2 ATM machines located right before the escalators to the taxis. Actually just as you exit baggage claim area.

Thanks for the information.

Oh, is your DH not able to come anymore. I m sure you will be absolutely fine.

I think mine will most likely wear shorts.

I'm staying at the Renaissance and I think I'm getting in on the 16th. I fly from here to Stockholm and have nearly a day there. I think I'll get on a HOHO bus to take a peek. I lived in Denmark for a year, so I'm not afraid of that.

It's getting from the airport to the hotel that's scary, then BCN itself. Ugh. I've done the HOHO twice, and it takes a long time to make the circuit, but maybe that's an option. I think I'll go wonder around Park Guell and take a book. I always wanted to do that.

been packing all day .. god i am exhausted .. usually i do not stress about these things .. but its easy jets stupid loss allowance 20 KG really !!

i am about at that now .. but i am going to need to buy stuff when we get to gibraltor NEED TO HIT MORRISONS AND M&S

We will see you there ... we're also restricted with Easyjets packing restrictions and will be shopping for stuff in M&S and Morrisons :rotfl2:

Only 2 more work shifts to go for me :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

What time does your flight get into Barcelona on the 16th ... we arrive on the 16th and if you are around the same time we are getting the aerobus into the city.
