Pam, most spaniard men today wore long pants. Some wore nice docker type of pants. Those wearing shorts were usually tourist we walked Las Ramblas last night at 11'and even as warm as it was, long pants or jeans were worn. But if it's warm, wear what's comfortable. Otherwise you'll be miserable. Just keep an eye on your purse. Better yet keep a hand on it. :teeth: and don't get distracted. If you are bumped or jostled, check pants pockets, purses etc. Awareness is key.

Btw, last night (Saturday night) was not crowded at all. It was freaky strange. Not like 2007 at all

That is very helpful thank you. I think John will be in longs then. Perhaps we had better bring another pair. Pain.

I'm beginning to think I will just stay in the room. I want to enjoy it, not worry all the time.

Thanks for the info! DH is not one to help with packing, so whatever I pack is what he is gonna have to wear!!:lmao: He may be sorry later... Anyway, I found a pair of black shorts and a casual button up shirt that he can wear. May put a pair of jeans in the carryon just incase we need to change. Shorts will be more comfy on the plane also so I think that is what we will wear. I am planning on capris and a nice shirt.

OK....back to do some more packing :goodvibes

Oh yeah...One year ago today my DD and her DH were getting married. :bride::groom: Cant believe it has been a year already!!!

Thanks, I have noted your information and updated the spreadsheet. I know that some people mentioned that they are bringing their own tools so I am just trying to figure out how many tools we will have in each workshop. I have shipped three sets of tools to Barcelona and we can definitely make do with those, but things will be a bit easier if some people bring their own. It is absolutely not necessary though...
I don't have any tools either, Corinna...

I have to say I have always had a soft spot for Disneyland Paris. A lot of the rides are better than at WDW and DL (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Phantom Manor) and there seem to be more attention to detail. When I went in April, the park was beautifully maintained. I do know so what people are meaning about the cast members. Disney Studios is a different matter entirely, which to me is just a giant waste of space. I am not too impressed with the Disney Village either.
I haven't been to DLP in years but I remember loving the theming. I'm going back for the first time in late November - really looking forward to it...

Mark & John will be talking techy at dinner I think! ;)
:littleangel:
So what are we going to talk, ladies???

I'm staying at the Renaissance and I think I'm getting in on the 16th. I fly from here to Stockholm and have nearly a day there. I think I'll get on a HOHO bus to take a peek. I lived in Denmark for a year, so I'm not afraid of that.

It's getting from the airport to the hotel that's scary, then BCN itself. Ugh. I've done the HOHO twice, and it takes a long time to make the circuit, but maybe that's an option. I think I'll go wonder around Park Guell and take a book. I always wanted to do that.
IKWYM. I'm not looking forward to negotiating BCN myself. That's why I opted to come in on the day and get DCL transfers direct to the port. If it was a city I knew, I'd be OK but it's NOT and I'm nervous... Oh well - it is what it is...

We will see you there ... we're also restricted with Easyjets packing restrictions and will be shopping for stuff in M&S and Morrisons :rotfl2:

Yep see ya there ... its good its on the monday we get there

mind you i hear its more expensive than UK as they have to bring it in from the UK

jason

Thank you so much! Why didn't I think of that????:confused3:confused3:confused3

I will have my iPhone and iPad with chargers for both so that will work.

I think I am brain dead from all the stuff I've been doing this weekend.

Looks like I am going to Madrid before Barcelona, anyone have suggestions for hotels there?

I leave San Francisco on the 10th.....I cannot believe it is already here! I've only been planning this for two months. I was a late comer! :dance3:

In my couple dozen trips to Madrid, I usually stayed in the Melia Castilla. Very nice hotel and in a very safe area of the city. The metro is close and convenient to get wherever you may want to go.

The Madrid airport, however, is quite a ways from the city. How long will you be there? If it's only overnight, you may want to stay near the airport.

If you're going to be in Madrid for a day or two, I can recommend some things to see.

Call me paranoid, but as a retired pilot I would NEVER wear shorts on a plane. I've seen way too many situations that, had things gone just a little bit the wrong way, I would want every bit of protection that clothing over my bare skin would provide.

Also, in over two dozen trips to Spain, I have never seen a Spaniard man wear shorts in public (other than on holidays). Bare legs = tourist! (and target!)

We will arrive the 12th and considering seeing Madrid before going to Barcelona. We really don't have a time schedule, just need to be in Barcelona to board. Would it be better to just go directly to Barcelona and sightsee or try to catch sights in both places?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

My Dad was a military/commercial pilot until 6 years ago, just retired as an airline VP a few weeks, actually. He would ditto the wearing clothes, cotton clothes, on planes thing, and he NEVER takes his shoes off, for safety reasons. I freeze on planes, so I wear all my bulky items and layers on the plane. It saves space in my carry on, too. I LOOOOOVE flying.

::yes:: no porters and luggage carts are free over here and they are by the luggage carasouls once you exit that zone it's just a short walk down (like 1 min if that) an escalator to taxi zone. And just a bit further for the Aerobus. Look for the bus sign.

I did see some taxi drivers loading suitcases but I saw the same amount of owners loading their own suitcases in. Might be a man thing though. Remember, taxis are smaller. About 4 luggage is going to be tight.

There are taxi guides in uniform guiding folks and there was a never-ending taxi line when we got here.

Just another observation.

Thank you for the insight! I appreciate all of it!

I hope you get a satisfactory explanation from your doctor soon!!

I don't think I'm allergic to it because it is one of the side effects. Sadly, I'm one of those people who experienced the side effects, I think.

I am so scared to fly! Darn, I forgot to get my Xanex prescription filled! I have to do that this week. I will be such a happy camper (or should I say cruiser) once we land in Spain. If you're in the airport, you'll recognize me, I'll be the one kissing the ground! LOL!!!! (Not really...trust me, too many germs.)

I'll be the one scared that we landed and then I have to put on my big girl panties and handle navigating BCN

Is THAT how I am going to recognize you??:rotfl2: The stories from mdwoodman scare me enough. Long pants and I will NOT take off my shoes, which I usually do, especially on these flights.

Val, I hope your sister with MS is doing well. I have made lemonade many times with my MS. She has a great attitude and it really does help.

I looked at the earthquake pictures and it is amazing more people were not hurt. It looked horrible.

I think we are all ready to just get on THE SHIP!!!!! We all come with a story that makes us unique and so glad we have each other to share 2 weeks with.

Hi,

We're getting ready to leave tomorrow for the B2B but I can't find the link to the navigator (duplex version if possible). Would someone post it for me?

TIA. See you all on the ship!

Well I'm off to go visit. I can't finish packing because my Mac won't upload my Word document because it has overlays and my PC won't load Word because my DGD downloaded some crap onto my PC. :cutie:

So tomorrow will be technology day. I need to get her laptop working so she'll stop using mine. :cool1:

Today I'm going to practice keeping my iPhone with the girls and not in my pocket. Gotta get back into big city mode and out of suburbs / farmland mode. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Next week we will all be together, finally after two long years of planning.:banana::banana:

I just can't wait to meet you all in real life. Can't wait.:dance3::dance3::dance3:

Okay, I am trying to poke out my mind's eye cause I am thinking that every time you get a call, you will get a little thrill!!!!

I'll be the one scared that we landed and then I have to put on my big girl panties and handle navigating BCN

DeAnn I am with you. :guilty: i have tried to learned a little of the language, but I am horrible at learning any language, even french after 10 years of classes.

My plan, taxi to hotel then hug my Disney parents  and hang on for dear life, :rotfl:.

Ha ha ha!!!! That is how you will know me for sure!!!! LOL!!!!

So I went to look at the WDW crowd calender for those two days that we are there and it's already past those days and they aren't shown! Oh well...

I truly think I have a learn disability in foreign languages! I am just not good at learning them at all.
