Great story!! Glad that April gets to both come and be on the volleyball team. Youngest DD played volleyball all through middle, high school and college. She turned down scholarships to go to USD, long story. Samantha was a setter as well and had some issues in college, another long story.

Just glad to see all is well and things have resolved themselves!!

Your Welcome! ;)

And just got to say - the gif. I am hoping to borrow it. If I can figure out how to do that.

Silly Question: Do I need a voltage adapter for the ship if I'm coming from the US? We only arrive in Barcelona on Friday, so I can't imagine needing to charge anything until Saturday anyway, but I'm unsure of the ship's voltage.

Noel, as always you are a font of information. I'll keep an eye out for the poker game.

You are welcome. Maybe the guys should have a poker game and beer tasting during the Champagne girls doings. Just a thought!!

OK, I KNOW I've read this somewhere, but can't find it. Does anyone know what is the nearest metro station to the cruise terminal, and does it have luggage lockers. If not, does anyone know the closest station with luggage lockers?
Thanks....

Hello fellow TA cruisers....had some sad news Friday.....we had to put our 9 month old kitten to sleep. She had many medical issues but she was not progressing and in fact was suffering so we had to do the right thing although it was extremely hard for my DW and DD....so....since she was such a little baby she was named "Peanut". She will be missed and is still very much loved....so....I would like to donate $20.00 towards the bracelets in Peanuts memory.....I can send it to whomever is going to take on this undertaking....just let me know.....and my DW and I would like one each.
Thanks.....
Tom

What a kind and loving gesture to make in Peanuts name. I know how hard it is too loose a pet even if you have them for short time. Kudos to you, Tom

Tom - sorry to hear the sad news. to you, your DD and DW.

The ship uses standard 110V US outlets. I recommend bringing a multi-outlet extension cord as there's only one outlet in the stateroom.

The metro station closest to the cruise terminal is Drassenes. It is at the bottom of Las Ramblas, and does not have luggage storage.

Yeah I got caught up before the thread got closed.

Need a slight chuckle this Sunday morning?
ZEN TEACHINGS

Loved this. Saved this down into Word and going to print at work to read when I need a pick me up.

OUCH :scared1::scared1::scared1: I have always been way too much of a wimp for piercings ... did get ears done when I was about 19 ( and under the influence :rotfl2: ) but I very rarely wear earrings other than special occasions. I thought they had to be 16 to get pirecings anyhow. They do around here.

I begged to get my ears pierced when I was in elementary school. My mother finally gave in and got hers done with me. When I was in HS I got a second hole while visiting friends in college (did not go over well at home, I think they were more upset that I did not need an adult (since I was under 18) to approve). Well now in my 30's I never wear earrings except on special occasions (i.e. cruise). So one of these nights I need to find my studs and shove them through and get my holes opened up again. No tattoos or other piercings for me.

I made a Google Earth map with some of the more famous sites (plus a couple of hotels and restaurants). It shows the various Metro lines (color coded) that link the different sites.

Do you have this in Google maps that I can link to?

It was exciting to see several from the 9/8 Med Cruise have posted in the GTY room thread that they've gotten their room assignments recently. That makes us next for the Magic!

Even better (since we're a 6 GTY) several posted that they got upgrades from Cat 6 to Cat 4 rooms. We would absolutely love the extra few feet of space if they did the same on our cruise, but are happy to be in a verandah since we'd had a Cat 10 booked at one time.

I am one of those lucky people on the 9/8 cruise. Originally booked a SPH (Cat 10), but then it was brought to my attention that Cat 6 rooms were going for $1200+ LESS that my Cat 10. So we upgraded to a Cat 6 and got our room assignment this weekend. 8584 - a Cat 4! :cool1: This will be my 1st Verandah room, so we plan to use the room more that in the past (i.e. room service). I am also afraid I will not be happy going back to an inside room. Now if we get an upgrade on the TA I will be ecstatic.

:( I had to put down my second cat right before the New Year (granted he was 12), but it is so hard, especially at kitten that is so adorable and cute. Peanut will be in our memory, thanks!

Are we supposed to be letting you know how many bracelets we want? :confused3

I want 2. :goodvibes

:cutie:

Right now I am taking info on who is willing to chip in to purchase to see first if we have enough to give to everyone. If that doesn't happen (we are 1/2 way there) then I will switch to those who want to order bracelets personally. I will give it a few more days to see if we can get enough people to give everyone one!

so sorry about Peanut - I put the information down on the spread sheet and will include that on the contributer form that is included with the bracelets.

Bracelets:

so far just in the few short hours we are 1/2 way there with people willing to donate the $10 to purchase enough bracelets for every DIS member (and families) - the place I normally use it is $275 for 500 bracelets (it would $260 for 300 - the number we have getting lanyards and I am sure there is more than that of us - plus the ones who are chipping in can have some extra for servers, cruise staff, etc. - and I am willing to chip in the extra $15 to have the other 200 bracelets :) ) But when it comes down to the ordering - I will check with everyone contributing to see how many they feel we should order. I am planning on using ROLL CALL - for the list of who to give to. Hope all that made sense.

Anyway here is who we have contributing so far:

I understand what you're saying about desiring to wear it in AP. Since the the Club shirts aren't exclusive to just those in the DIS-linked reservations, in reality, if as a collective DIS group we want to wear it on the same night, there will likely be people in each of the dining rooms.

With that said......maybe a new angle should be presented for a vote.

1) Do you prefer to wear the MMC shirt the night you are personally at AP or as an entire DIS group?
2) When? Week 1 or Week 2?

- Note that if we decide to wear the shirts only when we are personally in AP, then this equates to First Regular Rotation Menu in AP (Night 4, 5, or 6) or the following night in the dining room (Night 10, 11, or 12).

3) In the event "survey says" majority of people want EVERYONE to wear them on the SAME NIGHT in ALL dining rooms, please vote for which night noted you would prefer to wear the shirts for EACH week. That way if your desired week is not chosen AND the votes dictate that we wear them all on the same night, you still have a voice as to when.
-Give Week 1 preferred Night
-Give Week 2 preferred Night

I think that covers it all and makes it fair. Any clarification needed to my attempt to be clear?

I'll keep track of votes as they are posted. Since Gismo Sarah needs this by the end of next weekend, I'm going to put a deadline on the voting. I want to give people time to try and catch up with all the posts, too. ;)

Deadline to Vote: Thursday, July 29 at 12:01 pm EDT

Reminds me of the story told last night at dinner where "Our Cpt Jack" was chastised for being so convincing and to please not start a riot. LOL - But I'll let him tell that story. :lmao:

I was in attendance for that dinner, lol!

I have a quick question. There is a chance I maybe going on an injectable drug prior to the cruise. Has anybody else cruised with needles? Where did you dispose of them? I know they can't be thrown into the regular garbage obviously. I"m not even sure how big of a needle it will be (from what I heard it's very small) but I'll have to dispose of it somehow. Thanks for any information in advance!

You need to do the medical form and indicate that you require a sharps box, it will be a smallish red box that you will place your needles in and your stateroom host will take it away when the cruise is over or it is full. We had requested one for DM and they forgot, but the stateroom host was able to obtain one for us.

Thanks for the kind welcome back! My mom and I comment all the time about what a lovely bunch o' folks you guys are, really we do.

I wanted to add that we are going to the Magic Fountain in Barcelona on the Friday at the first show. We'd love to go on the Thursday but we are just getting in that day and I don't think any of us will survive a long, late night. We are planning to go to Poble Espanol on Friday evening, eat dinner near there, and then catch the fountain show. We would welcome Dis company should Friday work for anyone.

C

Friday would work for us.. if ya dont mind.

Great News!! I found a company that will mix the sizes for the in the total count! And the cost is about $8 (for total - not per bracelet) less! They claim to be the orginal band company!

To find the size you need just take a tape measure and wrap it around your wrist and see which size will work best for you - for example when I measured I could wear a Medium but I like mine to be looser than what that made it so I will get a large.

8 3/8” - LARGE
7 3/8” - MEDIUM
5 7/8” - SMALL/Child

To enter your information and sizes (just DIS name and sizes - no real names - go to this google spread sheet I have created:

I am so sorry to hear about your kitten. :littleangel:

You will need to fill out the medical form and fax it in. Bring a copy of the form with you! They will provide a sharps box. As soon as you can get to your cabin, verify that it is there - and if not head to guest services, show them the form and they will take care of it. I haven't needed one, but I did see this info on the main board a while back. Whoever it was had no issues at all!

I figured it would be a sharps box. My mom had one of those a few months ago when she had a blood clot and had to give herself injections a couple of times a day.

I don't see the doctor until next month at some point, so do you think that will be too late to try to request one? I have heard that this medicine can make you sick, so I may just wait until after the cruise to start it...I'll have to wait and see...

OK, jewellery people. I was looking at timings and dates and I think the best option would be 19th and 21st September from 3 to 4 PM.

I am probably getting on your nerves by now, but I really like Hayley's idea of doing a Champagne Girl theme (pink) for the necklace. So there are now three options: Villain, Champagne Girl or Ship. If you have given me your preference already and would like to change your mind, please let me know.

The Champagne Girl comment also got my creative juices going in another direction. One of my suppliers does little Tinkerbell charms. So for the cell phone charm, we could either go with a pirate theme (silver skull beads and crystals in ship's colours) or with a Champagne Girl theme (Tinkerbell and pink crystals)

I have tallied up what we would need including shipping and it would come to GBP15 per person.

I will put all the info I have into a spreadsheet later and try to work out how to post a spreadsheet.

Corinna

Hi Corinna

If you still have room in your class my grandaughter and I would like to do the necklace in the champagne girl theme Thanks, Trudy (Tru)

Hi, Carolynn, glad you made it through camp! I am phoning DCL tomorrow to see what day we should plan the Champagne Girls get together. More info to follow. Since DCL will be running it, there will be a nominal charge.

Connie

Hi Connie,

I jut wanted to make sure you received my message last week to join the Champagne girl group too. Trudy

No problem, I'm used to being volunteered. It wouldn't at all surprise me to find out that I've been signed up with the Champagne Girls and that there's a pink boa with my name on it. :lmao:

Or perhaps a pink wig! :thumbsup2:lmao:
Give me the address and I'll add it!

The Praktik Barcelona as well.
