OK...I have been sewing non stop all day today.....i'm finally done wiht all our vests and all our bowties...I'm 95% done with our finding nemo cummerbunds but need to go get some more fabric for the backing. And Jason spent the day doing some wok on our fish extender gifts and lanyards stuff.

You guys have been chatty!

Where in the world do you find Disney fabric? All we have around here is Joann Fabrics and they don't carry hardly any at all! Connie

I made a Google Earth map with some of the more famous sites (plus a couple of hotels and restaurants). It shows the various Metro lines (color coded) that link the different sites.

You did a great job updating my link with great sites to visit!!

Silly Question: Do I need a voltage adapter for the ship if I'm coming from the US? We only arrive in Barcelona on Friday, so I can't imagine needing to charge anything until Saturday anyway, but I'm unsure of the ship's voltage.

Noel, as always you are a font of information. I'll keep an eye out for the poker game.

We're in for 3 if they're the normal/medium size, 4 if we can get both Medium and Large, and 6 if we can get kid sizes as well. Confusing enough?

Kids sizes would be cool!! Krisann - I am still in, even if no kids, and still want 4. I figure Becca will want one no matter what, and maybe if it is big enough it will fit on her ankle... :lmao:

Are we supposed to be letting you know how many bracelets we want? :confused3

I want 2. :goodvibes

:cutie:

Once people meet at the Pratik Ramblas on Thursday, how do you then plan on getting to the Magic Fountains?

Ok I want to throw this out there and I am willing to head it up if enough people want to do it. On the WBPC 2008 cruise we had glow in the dark/green bracelets that had the cruise info on it. These were really great to identify people who might not be wearing lanyards (no name, just an "identifier") and i tended to wear them at times I did not wear my lanyard (like at the pools, spa, exercise, etc.) and the kids loved them!

Anyway - we could do this for $1.50 each band (this is at the min of 100 ordered) or if I had 27 people who wanted to donate $10 each (or less if we have more people) we could buy enough to give everyone in the DIS group one.

It is just an idea I had as I was going through cruise stuff from past cruises - no problems if no one likes the idea - but just thought I would throw it out there.

If you are interested either way - please PM me and I will let you know if we get enough interest.

Please tell me how many you would like to get at the $1.50 and if you are willing to do the $10 for the whole group IF we get enough people to contribute.

Krisann
DS10 is always wearing these bracelets, so he will love this idea.

If you go to our official site www.transatlanticpirates.com Go to the first page for the link if it does not work.

You can find the logos that are very very big. You can by iron on paper and print them yourself and iron on white t shirts

Hope that helps

I looked here and the logo pictures are huge. If anyone has tried printing these out already, please let me know how to do it. I missed the deadline, too, but I can't figure out how to print these out. Maybe I'll need to practice on regular paper first.

Hello fellow TA cruisers....had some sad news Friday.....we had to put our 9 month old kitten to sleep. She had many medical issues but she was not progressing and in fact was suffering so we had to do the right thing although it was extremely hard for my DW and DD....so....since she was such a little baby she was named "Peanut". She will be missed and is still very much loved....so....I would like to donate $20.00 towards the bracelets in Peanuts memory.....I can send it to whomever is going to take on this undertaking....just let me know.....and my DW and I would like one each.
Thanks.....

ABout to rant

My stupid sil let my stupid 14yo neice get her tongue percied, I could happily bang there heads together.

Rant over.
Well till I see her again and she cant talk or eat:headache:

Wow, 14 is pretty young! My youngest DS got his tongue pierced when he was 18. Pretty funny! The weekend after his birthday he was hanging with some friends and when I met up with him the next night he was SUPER quiet but when I asked him a direct question and he muddled an answer (swollen tongue), I just looked at him and said "what did you do??". Then he showed me!! He was 18 so it was out if my hands. He's 28 today and to be honest, can't even tell if he still has it!! I'll have to ask him next time he visits! :rotfl2:

however, not sure if I would have authorized it at that age. Maybe at 16-17 depending. I can remember doing some weird things in my teenage years but definitely not at 14.

My son at 18 told me he was going to have his tongue pierced. I said, before you do, let me ask the dentist. He had just had his braces taken off. So the next time we were in the dental office, I asked the dentist. He swallowed a few times and then calmy went on to describe in vivid details all the possible outcomes. Then the final straw was - you will have undone all the 3 yrs of wearing braces. Go home, take in what I tell you and then if you still insist on doing it - come back in 1 month and I'll do it for you. :scared1:

Needless to say, it was not the answer I wanted to hear as a mother but it worked. DS decided on a body piercing (as opposed to a tattoo) and we settled on an eyebrow. I took that as a win. He did end up getting his lip pierced but after about 6 months, he took it out. That was in response to a compromise where he wanted to plug pierce his ears. So glad I let the lip one happen as opposed to the ear plugs. He is too but he won't admit it. He's now 24.

He did get his ears pierced but he doen't wear them everyday and it only irritates me now when he takes my diamond studs. :) So I bought him cubic zirconia now.

The Magic has US voltage. If you don't need to charge anything until you are on the ship, you will be fine! Remember, the Magic has been sailing out of Cape Canaveral for 10 years now. :upsidedow

You're right. It is 87% black and 13% dark blue. Apparently this makes the ship virtually change colour depending on the time of day, the weather and the position you are viewing it from.

Although most people think of the ship being Mickey Mouse colors, Black, white and yellow. ( but you are right it's a very dark blue)

I can tell that we are getting closer to cruise day! The amount of posts in a 4 hour span is increasing! 4 pages today while I brought lunch to my Mom and then went to Target... I was able to get a power converter, a sleep mask (hoping it will help me to sleep), some packing cubes for items that can be rolled up (I haven't used before, wo it is a trial...). Starting to get the odds and ends for the trip - It is really time to start the packing!!

Great idea!! My GK's love their sleep masks. I use one almost every night!!

Curious about their calendar! We start the first Monday of August, and then do a 6 on 1 off schedule for the most part all year. So we are off the first week of the cruise, a full week at Thanksgiving, 2 full weeks at Christmas, a week in Feb and a week in April - and we still get 9 weeks off in the summer.

Here is their calendar which is somewhat similiar to yours but they only get about 6 weeks off in the summer.

Brentwood Calendar

This is such a great group - the ideas that are shared here are awesome - and often provide an answer to a nagging concern. THANKS EVERYONE!!!

I think you put if perfectly about the way people treat each other here!!

I'm really sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope you guys feel better soon. I like your idea to honour her.

Well the kids were good enough so we all went to see Despicable Me in 3D. It was fantastic. I laughed out loud at several points.

We had a busy afternoon. I picked up my PacSafe bag from the Post Office. I got a TourSafe. It is really nice quality and looks pretty good. Then we went to Old Navy and I bought the older kids their clothes for the flight, and the rest of us some odds and ends on sale. Then we went to Costco and did a giant food shop. Unfortunately all that shopping had to get put away, but our treat was the movie! Now the little one has rewarded us with a very successful potty showing today and everyone is relaxing. Unfortunately there is a cough and sore throat affecting 3/5 of us so who knows what the night will bring...

My countdown to going back on call is T -5 so I am trying to cram in as much cruise prep stuff as I can!

So sad to hear about your Peanut kitty. Especially sad to lose one so young!

What a nice way to celebrate her life!

But we are women so we pick up on each other much quicker. :rotfl2: Long story short, it looked like April was going to be cut from her HS volleyball team. She was MVP of club team but current setter and coach are family friends and current setter's older sister was 4-yr setter and all-star. Turns out that HS coach wasn't playing April and she was getting frustrated. I foresaw some conflict early in summer season and was making preparations in case she was cut to cheer her up. Truth be told, I expected the school to say no. But Steve jumped the gun and told her what I was planning. LADIES? NEVER, EVER tell you DH's what your planning - they will spill. :lmao: Anyway, she got all excited about seeing Collin her fav beverage waiter and I didn't have the heart to tell her no.

Anywho, we worked out the situation, she spoke with coach and looks like he wants to keep her Hmmm, wonder if the Whittier College Coach telling him she wants to work personally with April had anything to do with that? ;) Fingers crossed for a chance to play college volleyball or a partial scholarship hopefully or at least some play time for college next year. So HS coach has told her that she's on the team but not to say anything or the other girls will want to know too. She was ready to politely quit. So that's why she ended up here, Steve opened his mouth too early.

OK, not all that. Megan - my oldest daughter suggested that it might be best to take her since I should not leave Andrew and April alone in the house together for a few weeks. Seeing as all adults are going to be home, I'm sure there will be a few parties going on while we are gone. :scared1:

But in regards to the school. I was aware that one girl for the last 3 yrs has been going to Columbia for Xmas break and takes an extended leave. I asked her for advice and she suggest I don't ask, that I "inform" them of the leave of Absence. So, I did just that. I explained that due to a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, that was too cheap to pass up, she had a chance to go to some very holy places (Hey I didn't lie) I might have implied that she was going to see the Vatician (she's been there twice) and that she could be in daily contact with her teachers via e-mail. Also, that she would have a couple hours each morning to do her homework. Then I explained that when her Grandfarther passed away in March of 2009, we pulled her out for 8 days and other than depression, she maintained her 4.0 GPA w/o any long-term effects. I also told her that due to her involvement in sports, it would not affect her Campus Ministry obligations since sports already does that. So in essence, she really wasn't missing any more than the usual time. And since its so early in the year, I was confident she could make up any work. Then I compounded it by asking for a next day answer. We had a teacher's funeral that shut down the school for a few days. Anyway, long story short, Mrs D came to bat for us - she :lovestruc us and got permission.

I, too, was going to just pull her but decided, since its her last year, I'd better play fair. Worked for me but this is a Private Catholic HS. And I'm overly involved with the school. And it doesn't help that I take pictures for the AD which just happens to be an asst counselor and baseball coach whom I give pictures too. :teeth: Sometimes, brown-nosing helps.

So that's my story, she wasn't going to go but is now and now I have to make sure that we get the waiter she wanted. Now how am I going to guarantee that? BTW, request already put in but have to get to the ship early to change that. LOL

Sorry so long, just wanted to relate how everything ended up aligning for us. I hope it does for you too! :littleangel: (sending out angel wishes that things go well for you too)

Maybe promising HW or classwork being done will help? Or even e-mail contact with the teachers? That's what I did. One condition with us is that she MUST tell her teacher's beforehand and the counselor will tell them that this is an already approved LOA by both VP and Principal. They can't say anything about it. They won't be happy but heck, it's done. If T will take his books, maybe they can sit down together and do HW. I figure - she wants to play - she's gotta pay so she'll be carrying a packpack of heavy school books if they give the work before hand. Otherwise - she's SOL and has to do it after.

Great story!! Glad that April gets to both come and be on the volleyball team. Youngest DD played volleyball all through middle, high school and college. She turned down scholarships to go to USD, long story. Samantha was a setter as well and had some issues in college, another long story.

Just glad to see all is well and things have resolved themselves!!
