was at target tonight - I did see that they had small children's eye masks and little blankets for under $10 for a set - they were really cute.

Also in the MEN's department they have regular t-shirts for only $5 - including PINK - so I got one from there.

Don't you just love google spreadsheets! we used them for everything on the EBTA - it let everyone put their own info in and saved lots of time for the organizers of things.

Krisann

First time I have used it. Very cool!!

Now that I am all caught up with emails, posts and PM's, plus DH has brought me a lovely glass of wine, I thought I might share my day with my fellows DISers.

As I posted earlier, I planned to meet my DD and her DD Bailey for some back to school shopping at the Stoneridge Mall Pleasanton which is about half way between her home and ours. For you Bay Area folks, I was coming up on 680 and got off on 580. My directions sent me the wrong way on 580 so I had to turn around at the first exit and go West on 580.

I was in the second to the left driving to the shopping center when someone in front of me suddenly changed into the lane in front me of me. The traffic had been slowing down, so I was not going very fast, but they were pretty close in front of me. The traffic then came to a complete stop. The car in front of me had to suddenly put on their brakes. I literally stood on the brakes on and stopped about a foot from the car in front of me. Of course wouldn't you know it, I was promptly hit by the van behind me, and the car behind them hit the van. Lucky for me, I saw the van a split second or so before it hit me so I just took my foot off the brake and tried to mentally relax so I don't think I am hurt at all.

The van was damaged pretty severely. Inside the van were 7 people including 2 small children in car seats. The driver of the van came up to my car right away to see how I was doing. He said he saw how hard I was braking and that the back end of my car went up. I think the brakes must have been smoking!! I then told him I was fine and he told me his family was shaken up but essentially unhurt. He told me his wife was calling the Highway Patrol to report the accident and to get help to move the car. The other car in the accident seemed not to be much damaged except for some damage to the front bumper.

As for my car and the car behind the van, we were able to move our cars to the side of the freeway. The family in the van was able to cross one lane of traffic to the side of the road to safety as he could not drive the car. The other driver called the California Highway Patrol who responded in about 5 minutes. I called my daughter and granddaughter Bailey who were at the shopping mall who were able to get to the accident scene in about the same time. I also called John and told him everything was fine but the car was damaged. I also called my insurance company and gave a report.

I felt really sorry for the man who hit me as it appeared the van did not belong to this family. He had borrowed it from a family member, his Aunt, I think. The problem seem to me was to me it was not clear if he had insurance or not or if it was out of state insurance. The HP officer kept repeating that he was not going to cite him for driving the car but if it were going to be principally driven in California, that it needed to be registered in California. I really caught the tail

The family seemed very upset and the children were not crying but clearly not happy. I asked if they needed help to get home, but they declined. About that time, a AAA tow truck arrived. I am not sure how the family was getting home but as they declined any help, there was nothing more to do. The Highway Patrol took a report and we were on our way. The Highway Patrol told us we did not need to exchange information and gave us a report number to give to our Insurance company.

Since I felt pretty stressed, the three of us decided to go for lunch so I could calm down at PF Chang's. We spent the rest of the afternoon sucessfully shopping for school clothes at Nordstrom's, Hollister and Abercrombie which seem to still be the places kids want their school clothes.

Last stop was for school supplies like binders, pens, etc. After the school supply purchase, Jen and Bailey were off home.

When I arrived home, DH John took lots of pictures of the damages to the Suburban. I brought him leftovers from PF Chang's for his late lunch.

Now after all of this venting, back to our cruising plans!!

Glad you are OK!

Thank you for the DIS lunch clarification. I somehow got in my mind that that was only for the Secret Mickey participants.

Thanks for the precise trivia about the paint! I hadn't seen that before!

The lunch is FOR ALL DISers ..... we will be giving out the Scavenger Hunt prisea and having a Secret Mickey reveal then , but it is definitely a DIS lunch. You can send me a PM if you like to give a rough idea of numbers.

I ahve a wonderful book about the Making of the Disney Magic which gives all inofrmation like that .. .how they chose the design, the colour scheme etc.

It was exciting to see several from the 9/8 Med Cruise have posted in the GTY room thread that they've gotten their room assignments recently. That makes us next for the Magic!

Even better (since we're a 6 GTY) several posted that they got upgrades from Cat 6 to Cat 4 rooms. We would absolutely love the extra few feet of space if they did the same on our cruise, but are happy to be in a verandah since we'd had a Cat 10 booked at one time.

This is exciting .... hopefully we will know within a couple of weeks then. :yay:

OK...I have been sewing non stop all day today.....i'm finally done wiht all our vests and all our bowties...I'm 95% done with our finding nemo cummerbunds but need to go get some more fabric for the backing. And Jason spent the day doing some wok on our fish extender gifts and lanyards stuff.

You guys have been chatty!

Gosh you have been busy. Can't wait to see all your creations :thumbsup2
Hello fellow TA cruisers....had some sad news Friday.....we had to put our 9 month old kitten to sleep. Tom

Sorry to hear about your kitten Tom. Sending :hug:

Its not the landings that bother me, its the take offs and the fact that DS wants to try this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff0TfXlmQdM

OMGoodness. What will they think of next? Yes, definitely not (although I must admit a morbid curiousity as to whether I can hang on tight enough......naw - I'd better not even consider it. ) :rotfl2:

Oh so sorry to hear that. I'm glad you kept your cool but please make sure you go to the doc's if your not feeling well tomorrow. Smart woman, I'd probably would have tensed. Take a long hot bath or if your feeling sore, my pilates teacher would take a tennis ball and knead her back with it if she ever had a sore problem. She swore by it and said it would work wonders. She hurt her back from gardening one day, tried it the next day and the following day, the kinks were out. I know not the same thing but maybe that will work if your feeling a bit tight tomorrow. Glad your doing ok and hope the damage isn't too too bad. :grouphug:

I did see your post, but figured as we have to have two groups anyway, you could join the session on 19th September.

As far as bag charm or keychain is concerned, I will go for the majority as I have to buy them in packs of 20. For necklaces and cell phone charms, I can accommodate individual choices.

Would you like to go for the Champagne Girl theme for the cell phone charm, the necklace or both?

I got you down for Villain's necklace and Pirate cellphone charm

Would you like to go for the Champagne Girl theme for the cell phone charm, the necklace or both?

Corinna

Oh, sorry, I seem to be making it extra hard work for you Corinna. I think I must have missed a post from you and didn't know about 2 sessions!!! Thanks.

Champagne Girl colours for the cell phone charm please. I think I would like the villains colours for a necklace, but would miss out the skulls etc!! I fancy the colours, but not the theme if you understand me!!! However, Champagne Girls would be great too.

My pleasure. If anyone wants a customized map with specific locations, let me know. I can create it and send you a .jpg.

I would love a map please.

Hello fellow TA cruisers....had some sad news Friday.....we had to put our 9 month old kitten to sleep. She had many medical issues but she was not progressing and in fact was suffering so we had to do the right thing although it was extremely hard for my DW and DD....so....since she was such a little baby she was named "Peanut". She will be missed and is still very much loved....so....I would like to donate $20.00 towards the bracelets in Peanuts memory.....I can send it to whomever is going to take on this undertaking....just let me know.....and my DW and I would like one each.
Thanks.....
Tom

Sorry to hear about Peanuts. 9 months is far too young, but it did sound like she was a poorly kitty. When we see the bracelets we will think of her.

Now that I am all caught up with emails, posts and PM's, plus DH has brought me a lovely glass of wine, I thought I might share my day with my fellows DISers.

Oh Noel, that could have been a lot worse. Glad you are ok, and hope you don't have any affects this morning.

I was stressed to have a cabin assignment as it was a surprise to the kids and, well, can't you tell I am a little obsessive?

Brunch is on the 23rd at 10:30. I need to find out when our Charactor breakfast is! If it happens to be that same morning, Glenn and I talked abut going and having tea / coffee with the kids but not haveing breakfast... Also - I tried to add you to the reservation (which is for 4 people) but I can't... Not sure why not as you show up plain as day as linked with us. UUGH! I will shoot Autumn a note and see if she can't get it done for me...

Speaking of shipping - did the girls get an envelope / flat package by chance? Would have been in a RedPrairie envelope, coming from our office in Sydney I believe - but could have been Melbourne as well...

So, tomorrow I am sending a package to the ship! I am sending mainly magnets as they will be put on the door for us by the concierge team. But I am also shipping a few FE things that are bulky. I hope that I am doing this early enough!!

Obsessive, Nooo.....I like 'highly organised' better! :thumbsup2
No problem if you can't add us for brunch, good thinking about character breakfast, we can't miss that one! ;) Oh, to have an "April", I need one at home, Oh and some Mousekeeping too.......
Nope, no envelope yet....have been checking.
How exciting that you are posting stuff for our cruise already, just goes to show hoe close it really is! :yay:

ABout to rant

My stupid sil let my stupid 14yo neice get her tongue percied, I could happily bang there heads together.

Ew, My sister had it done years ago and lost heaps of weight because she couldn't eat........actually, maybe I should get my tongue pierced before the cruise :lmao:

OK, jewellery people. I was looking at timings and dates and I think the best option would be 19th and 21st September from 3 to 4 PM.

I am probably getting on your nerves by now, but I really like Hayley's idea of doing a Champagne Girl theme (pink) for the necklace. So there are now three options: Villain, Champagne Girl or Ship. If you have given me your preference already and would like to change your mind, please let me know.

The Champagne Girl comment also got my creative juices going in another direction. One of my suppliers does little Tinkerbell charms. So for the cell phone charm, we could either go with a pirate theme (silver skull beads and crystals in ship's colours) or with a Champagne Girl theme (Tinkerbell and pink crystals)

I have tallied up what we would need including shipping and it would come to GBP15 per person.

I will put all the info I have into a spreadsheet later and try to work out how to post a spreadsheet.

Corinna

I vote Champagne Girls for necklace and pirate theme for key ring. :)
But will go with the flow.....

Hi Everyone -

A while back I had pulled a master list of swaps together so we coukld track cabin changes and groups, etc. On the list I have the following:

Sue

See, not obsessed, just organised! :thumbsup2

Hi guys! Long time no post!

We got back yesterday from camp. It was really nice at times, and totally understimulating at other times.

WOW, you have been a busy little bee! :goodvibes

Can't say I love them (the piercings and tattoos I mean) but by now she's old enough to know her own mind. I always think it's not the worst thing in the world, she's a good, caring person and isn't into drugs etc so appearances don't really phase me....

If she's a good person, appearances shouldn't matter, but I know people do get judged on their appearance in our society, it isn't fair, but it happens. My husband has the girls names tattooed on his back and our wedding date on his wedding finger. They are not offensive tattoo's but I am very aware that he is judged by some for having them (some of his family don't like it). :rolleyes1

I also just want to say:
I simply can't wait to meet everyone!!!! I really think this is an amazing group of people who are working so hard to make this a trip of a lifetime!!! Thank you!!!!!!

Well said, Ditto! :)

I wanted to add that we are going to the Magic Fountain in Barcelona on the Friday at the first show. We'd love to go on the Thursday but we are just getting in that day and I don't think any of us will survive a long, late night. We are planning to go to Poble Espanol on Friday evening, eat dinner near there, and then catch the fountain show. We would welcome Dis company should Friday work for anyone.

C

We fly in Friday lunch time, and were hoping to see the fountains. We were going to go to the Dis meet, get some dinner with some other Dis'ers and see if we had time to go to the fountains afterwards.

In my job I get access to a lot more of the female anatomy than most and have witnessed some words tattooed in places which would seem very inappropriate on an elderly lady for example .

Eeewwwwww!!!!! My sister has a chinese happiness symbol low on her belly, You should have seen it when she was 9 months pregnant. My sister was the brave one and experimented with a tongue ring, nose piercing, belly ring and tattoo, all at different times. She no longer has any, except the tattoo, which she wishes she didn't get now. :headache:

Or should i bring one along from my "collection" i'm sure i have one in my "Costume Party Room" in the West Wing.

SW

Why don't you get your private jet to fly over a selection on Villian day, that way you can choose one that suits your mood. :lmao:

My husband (Pat) is a spin class junkie! In fact by the time we get on the ship he should be certified to teach spin class. He is definately in for the class. I prefer to ride a real bike and see some scenery. He says the bikes on the ship are really nice so maybe I could be talked into 1 class.

Yay, there are a few that will come, at least I will be among friends when I pass out. :thumbsup2

My husband and I are hoping for the same thing. We are traveling with our 2 DD's 6 & 7 and have already started talking up the kids club. This will be their 2nd cruise so they have an idea. We can try and hook the kids up at the Dis meet.

Sounds good, there are a few younger girls, I'm sure they'll all get along great. My girls have already made friends with Sue's princess Becca. :cutie:

Way too funny since I am not a villain lover at all I have non nope nil nilch zip zero nothing, no way no how do I have anything that might resemble a villain.

Oh wait I have a angry pic of the beast. Nope that will not count cause he is really a marshmallow in disguise.

Ditto, I have nothing vaguely villain, I don't even own anything purple. I will be an observer on this one. We can be be the princesses in distress with all those nasty villains around. :rotfl:

ooohhhh ... I am officially a champagne girl ... I just won this on Ebay:

!ByMiv4Q!Wk~$(KGrHqQOKi!Ew0mBKqoOBMQ)M(jSYg~~_35.JPG

Perfect!

Looks like we will have quite the group of little girls!! I hope they all get along!! We need a Little Princess meet...

Depending on how Becca is doing Friday night might work better for us as well... Hard to tell at this point... She could sleep on the flight and be fine, or she may nap and need to crash at 8... I worry most about her, versus Stephen, because at 13 he can handle being tired much better than Becca at age 6...

A princess meet would be cute, but I don't think we have any hours left that are not already booked with tastings, jewellery making, champagne girls, teas, brunches, lunches, etc.....:rotfl:

We might be able to do the Fountain on Friday night after HRC? What do you think? :confused3

Ok I want to throw this out there and I am willing to head it up if enough people want to do it. On the WBPC 2008 cruise we had glow in the dark/green bracelets that had the cruise info on it. These were really great to identify people who might not be wearing lanyards (no name, just an "identifier") and i tended to wear them at times I did not wear my lanyard (like at the pools, spa, exercise, etc.) and the kids loved them!

Krisann, this is a wonderful idea.
And since I missed out on the lanyard group (I didn't know what it was :confused3) I would love to be part of the bracelet group. I will pay you via paypal when you are ready.

No problem, I'm used to being volunteered. It wouldn't at all surprise me to find out that I've been signed up with the Champagne Girls and that there's a pink boa with my name on it.
Oh there is a pink boa for you, and a tiara and a pair of pink sparkly stiletto's!
Girls, bring your camera's! :rotfl:

OK...I have been sewing non stop all day today.....i'm finally done wiht all our vests and all our bowties...I'm 95% done with our finding nemo cummerbunds but need to go get some more fabric for the backing. And Jason spent the day doing some wok on our fish extender gifts and lanyards stuff.

You guys have been chatty!

Sounds like a fun day.
Chatty is an understatement, I simply cannot keep up!!! :sad2:

Oh, Poor little Peanut. We had to put down our kitten Cosmo a few years ago, she had a horrible skin condition, we tried everything, but she was constantly in pain. It was a relief to give her some peace and a big, big sleep forever. I will think of Peanut when I wear my bracelet. ;)

He did get his ears pierced but he doen't wear them everyday and it only irritates me now when he takes my diamond studs. So I bought him cubic zirconia now.
:scared1: I think I'd make a new hole when I ripped the diamonds from his ears! :lmao:

Great News!! I found a company that will mix the sizes for the in the total count! And the cost is about $8 (for total - not per bracelet) less! They claim to be the orginal band company!

To find the size you need just take a tape measure and wrap it around your wrist and see which size will work best for you - for example when I measured I could wear a Medium but I like mine to be looser than what that made it so I will get a large.

8 3/8” - LARGE
7 3/8” - MEDIUM
5 7/8” - SMALL/Child

To enter your information and sizes (just DIS name and sizes - no real names - go to this google spread sheet I have created:

Krisann
FANTASTIC!!!
OK, I think I have entered it, but I kept getting error messages, So, just in case, we'd like 1 large, 1 medium and 2 small. Ta :thumbsup2

What a big day you've had. A quiet glass of wine might be a good idea, you deserve it. I hope you don't have any delayed whiplash or anything. :flower3:
BTW, I love PF Changs, we always go a few times when we are in the USA, YUMMO!

Thanks for organsing this .... we have filled in our details. Let us know how to send the money. :thumbsup2

I can't believe I'm still awake, but here I am making cards and glued to the Most Extreme Airports show that Pam talked about the other night. Unbelievable. It has been cool to see Gibraltar and Madeira though. I seriously can't imagine how stressful air traffic controllers are.

Since the thread is about to close and I'm heading to be shortly, I "quoted" and saved posts I wanted to reply to sometime tomorrow. Just a couple of quick comments...

It's about time for for another publication of the Inbound Barcelona and Accommodations Lists. ;)

Noel, THANK GOD you were not in a worse situation today. No wonder John got you a glass of wine. You needed it! I hope you will have much less strain Monday and Tuesday since you tried to relax.

:cat: Tom and Marilou, I'm so sorry to hear about your Peanut. :sad1: That's a lovely tribute to your baby.

It might be a good idea to put the bracelet sign-up sheet on Page 2 of the next Chapter of our continuing thread so it's easily found and not overlooked as people start reading it.

Good night, good morning, and good day!

OK I suppose I should get off to bed. It was a nice weekend. Hope it continues tomorrow. Night all - be safe and play nice.

:

Have you guys in the us ever seen Father Ted.

This is me ..
Go on,go on,go on,go on. you know you want to. says Mrs Doyle.

Love Father Ted... a nice cuppa tea...

Whom do we contact for linking early dining?

MrsMork I think it doing the early dining linking (hope I got that right)

She had to have an adult with her, way to go grany jo(NOT)
It took me till 36 to pluck up the courage or stupidity :confused3to get a tattoo.

I love bodyart. I mean art too, not just nasty prison style tatts. I've been thinking about a tattoo for years but still haven't done it. I have 7 piercings though.

Doh! I've missed a lot b/c I've been so busy with work and just skimming posts. I guess I completely missed the discussion about the Magic Fountain. :confused3 I don't want to invite myself :crowded: if this is a private event but if it's open to all, where are you meeting? 9:30 am/pm? I have an event scheduled in the evening but will probably be done by 9pm if this is a night event.

A private event with 300 of your closest friends (most of whom you haven't met yet) :rotfl2:

In my job I get access to a lot more of the female anatomy than most and have witnessed some words tattooed in places which would seem very inappropriate on an elderly lady for example . :rotfl2:

I read about an elderly person (can't remember the gender) who got "do not resuscitate" tattooed on there chest. I guess at least if its in a private area, there will be a limit to the number of people that see it - or I pray there are a limited number that see it :rotfl2:

As an aside, ugliesttattoos.com is a brilliant website - well worth investigating.

It was a great way to identify people in our group when we weren't wearing lanyards. At Castaway Cay, it was easy to approach people, "Hi, I see you're with the DIS group. Mind watching our stuff while we go into the water?"

Or a good way to start a conversation "hi, I'm Paula and I'm a Dis addict".

It was exciting to see several from the 9/8 Med Cruise have posted in the GTY room thread that they've gotten their room assignments recently. That makes us next for the Magic!

Its getting so close now I can almost smell it... oops no, actually that was the dog :rotfl:

Tom - so sorry to hear about your loss of little peanut.

Noel - glad to hear things weren't worse and that you are safe - although the soreness won't show up until the day after. Good luck.

Ok now that I have been back long enough to figure out what I missed in a week I get that the Mickey Mouse theme in the dining rooms is not happening but instead it is villain.

If this is the case I change my necklace to Villain and stick keep my bag charm.

Villain's Night is an official DCL theme night in the same night as Pirate Night is. The Mickey Mouse Club night is something we do for this group.

I have you down for a necklace in Villain's colours. For the cell phone charm, would you like a Pirate theme or a Champagne Girl Scheme?

OK, I KNOW I've read this somewhere, but can't find it. Does anyone know what is the nearest metro station to the cruise terminal, and does it have luggage lockers. If not, does anyone know the closest station with luggage lockers?
Thanks....

We left our luggage at Barcelona Sants over night last time round, which is one of the two main stations. We were able to get the Metro to Drassanes from there (I think 4 stops) and from there it was a short walk down the hill and across the road to the port bus.

I have updated our details. Thanks for organizing this.

Hi Corinna

If you still have room in your class my grandaughter and I would like to do the necklace in the champagne girl theme Thanks, Trudy (Tru)

Both workshops are full now.

Now that I am all caught up with emails, posts and PM's, plus DH has brought me a lovely glass of wine, I thought I might share my day with my fellows DISers.

What a scare. I am glad that you and everybody involved is OK.

I think I did not explain this very well. For the necklace, we are just going to use Swarovski crystals in various different shapes and sizes. For the Villain theme, we are going to use purple and black crystals, for the ship theme black, white, red and yellow crystals and for the Champagne girl theme pink crystals.

For the cell phone charm, there are two options. The Champagne Girl version will have a silver Tinkerbell charm dangling from the end and will have pink crystals. The Pirate version will have silver skull beads at either end with black, white, red and yellow crystals in the middle.

For the bag charm, there will only be one version. This will have lime green Mickey beads at either end with metal beads spelling out DIS in the middle.

I vote Champagne Girls for necklace and pirate theme for key ring. :)
But will go with the flow.....

Are you OK with a bag charm for the third project? If not, I still have a few keychains in my work box and can send you one of those when I send out the materials.

I can't work out how to safe my Excel sheet as a JPEG file. I Googled it, but did not get anywhere either. I will email it to work and see if I can crack this on the Windows based system there.

I love all the photos!!!:goodvibes:goodvibes

My vote is day 11 week 2. It would be Terry's birthday and as everyone says, things will be winding down.

I would LOVE for Shutters to take a picture of everyone in their shirts. We could wish Terry a Happy Birthday. :cake:

Works for me, I am flexible!!!
