I came across a fun song on itunes to make us smile and get ready for the cruise...it's a little tropical, but still a fun song for this cruise, espcially for the Caribbean half!

"Where The Boat Leaves From" by Zac Brown Band

Some of the lyrics:

There's a place, where he boat leaves from
It's takes away all your big problems
You got worries you can drop in the blue ocean
But you gotta get away to where the boat leaves from

Angie(Mrs Mork) and Dennis have a large motorhome. I'm sure she would love to talk about it, even if it isn't the same size.

Thanks! The one we are looking at is 31 feet long! Eeek. But has bunkbeds so gives us lots of sleeping room.

That about sums it up nicely! :goodvibes

I need to find a photo of our seas on the 2007 TA WB...They were like glass--like sailing on a lake...and I'm hoping for the same this time!

I know the two cruises were completely different! Amazing. But it wasn't too bad, I just felt sorry for the entertainers. Luckily, our family has no trouble with mal-de-mer!

Also, I blame you young girls, you FORCED me to buy some black and purple fabric to make a dress for Villain Night......I wouldn't have had to except for your photo's!:laughing::laughing:

Looking forward to seeing it, and all the others. Lets just hope DCL don't decide our Theme Night is something different!!!;)

Good morning, all! Hope you are having fabulous days, or had fabulous days for those of ...

Just got interrupted by my nice neighbour to tell us that our dog was out and about. She's a standard poodle, and a real suck. Her name is Georgie. Anyways, back gate shut, dog back in the house, and I'm back.

... you in different time zones.

If that was my beagles, they WOULD be in a differant time zone by now:lmao:

If you can't torture kids with roadtrips when they are young, everyone loses out!
Anyone out there have a class C?
What was that film? the hilarious one with the motor home, like the hotel in orlando? my brains frazzled.

We will keep you company Lynne. Hope you don't have any very poorly patients.

My DD got home safely from Russia and we were back at home by 2am......approx 30 minutes ahead of schedule. So now it is time for :laundy:......

Well, whatever DCL decide I'm sure all the beautiful dresses can be used anyway!!! I really can't think they will change the Theme Night from what it is at the moment though. Just can't understand why they don't say what it is!!

I finally got caught up. Let's see how long that lasts. Been up for 3 hours already this morning. I really hate when I get up early on the weekends and can't get back to sleep. It seems easier to sleep in on a weekday when I need to go to work.

I am off to work here shortly. I am drowning there so going in so I can get caught up, especially since my supervisor (and the person who supports our CEO) is out all this week and I have to cover for her (along with doing my job). I see 12+ hour days in my future next week. I also have friends visiting next weekend so sure I will get behind again.

Has anybody from the uk ever called to buy state room gifts?
I would like to order my dad and Len the re fillable beer mug and mum and day pass for the spa for a surprise.

its an 800, I googled it and it seems you drop the first digit and replace it with usa code, anyhow I will try tom or tonight if I get a chance.

In my experience when you are not in the US you can not call a toll free (800, 888 or 866) number. There is usually another number to dial when you are outside the US.

Thanks - I'm on the search for a fee free credit card for foreign currency that has the necessary chip to us in Europe ATMs. val

Thought I'd pass this information on for those newbies like myself who are still trying to learn the ins and outs of traveling in Europe.

I've just spent 2 hours going through voice mail hell with my financial institutions and finally talking with live people about foreign transaction fees when you use a credit card in europe. It seems it is worth it to explore this area. Bank of America Visa and Chase/Disney Visa each charge a 3% transaction fee on top of the conversion rate. My two credit unions, Sea West Visa and Redwood Visa only charge 1%. Citibank Mastercard, since I have a gold card, has no fee. I also found some have an automatic transaction limit per-transaction but you can have multiple transactions processed on the same day. Others let you decide if you want to set a limit on amount and number of transactions per day. This is to help with fraud. The told me Spain has a major problem with credit card fraud. I've decided to setup a new card. This way if it should need to be cancelled due to fraud or is lost while on the trip I won't be effecting the account with all my auto payment plans linked to it.

The other thing I was told is the US uses 4 digit pins while in Europe they use 8 and if you just add 4 zeros to your 4 digit pin it should work because the computer has read that you are using a US card (I don't know if I buy this but worth trying). Also, it seems very few cards are issued with the smart chip in them in the US. They also said it "shouldn't" be a problem. The opperative word being Shouldn't.

Val

Capital One - no foreign transaction fees for charges and they have a chip.

I have 300 Euros in cash (also doing the last Med Cruise). Thinking about getting another 100 or 200, but not sure. (I got my Euros from BofA and they did not charge me a fee, but I paid the current rate the bank was selling Euros at not the exchange rate (I think it was 7-10 cents more). My plan is to use my Capital One card as much as possible (my Chase card for my onboard account since that will be US$) and cash when needed. Additionally, if I need more money I will use my ATM card at a reciprocal bank. I bank with BofA and they have reciprocal banks in Europe (I also bank with Chase and Wells Fargo and they do not offer this feature) where I will not be chraged the "ATM fees" (however I am still subject to the "International Transaction Fee" of 3%). I also checked with BofA about a "chip" in the ATM cards and they do not offer that, but tell me as long as I use a bank in their alliance I should not have a problem. See below from their website.

Bank of America Global ATM Alliance
Bank of America is member of the Global ATM Alliance, a group of financial institutions that has created the world's first international ATM Alliance. So you can use your debit card or ATM Card within the Global ATM Alliance in the countries shown with no ATM operator fees. (International Transaction Fees may apply.1 ) Some members may have locations in countries other than the country listed in the coverage area. Only ATMs in the country listed are considered part of the Alliance.

  • Barclays United Kingdom
  • BNB Paribas France
  • BNL D'Italia Italy
  • Deutsche Bank Germany (Please note: International transaction fees are not waived at Deutsche Bank in Italy.)
  • Santander Serfin Mexico
  • Scotia Bank Canada and the Caribbean. Caribbean countries include: Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles (St Maarten), St Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos Islands, US Virgin Islands.
  • Westpac Bank Australia and New Zealand

In addition, Bank of America has arranged for you to use your debit or ATM cards in China at China Construction Bank ATMs and in Mexico at Banco Santander with no ATM Operator Fees or International ATM fee. (International Transaction Fees may apply.1 )

1 Withdrawals, deposits, transfers, payments and balance inquiries made at ATMs in foreign countries outside of the Global ATM Alliance, China Construction Bank, or Banco Santander will be charged a $5.00 fee. In addition, an International Transaction Fee will be charged for ATM card and debit card transactions made for foreign purchases or ATM cash withdrawals in currency other than U.S. Dollars, regardless of whether or not the transaction occurred at an ATM in a country covered in the Global ATM Alliance. The International Transaction Fee will be 3% of the U.S. Dollar amount for each converted purchase or 1% of the U.S. Dollar amount for each converted ATM cash withdrawal. This International Transaction Fee will appear as a separate item on your banking statement for each international transaction.
Keep in mind
To make using foreign ATMs as problem-free as possible, please be aware of the following:

  • Some foreign ATMs are only available during normal business hours
  • Not all foreign ATMs offer instructions in English
  • Some ATMs limit your access to your primary checking account
  • If you are unable to use a foreign ATM, you may be able to use your ATM card or debit card to withdraw funds at a local bank

If you bank with BofA here is there is a whole section about International travel and using ATMs abroad in their FAQ section here.

You guys are making me laugh and it isn't even the afternoon yet. I was going to ask Connie if she had that photo that made it look like a waterfall on our '07 cruise. I love it. I showed that picture to everyone and they actually thought it was a waterfall on the ship. Thanks for posting Sarah!

DisneySweetie - so glad your daughter made it home and you are all well. Abby came home from camp and I am on my second load of wash. I think I am done after this though.

The name of the movie with Robin Williams is RV - I put that in my DVD for a good laugh now and then. Terapin, have you seen it?

DisneyCruisin - love the lyrics of the song - I am going to use that for one of my scrapbook pages! THANKS!:thumbsup2

It's hot and sunny today, and we are trying (in vain) to clean the house and pack for camp tomorrow. I'm going to be a camp nurse for the week at a children's sleepaway camp, and the whole famn damily is coming with me. No cooking or cleaning for a week! The kids will swim, do crafts, horseback ride, etc. We get a nice cabin to ourselves. Being the Taurus that I am, I am nervous of unknown situations, so I am a bit anxious today.

Almost done my packing for our cruise - I think I have too many nice clothes. They pack light though, so I may just bring them and see what I feel like wearing for dinner. I'd like to change out of day clothes into something nice for dinner, but nothing too fancy. I'm splitting our packing into Barcelona bags and Cruise bags so that most of our suitcases can remain closed while in Barcelona. We are going to be doing laundry in the first few days of the cruise, for sure. The logistics of packing for 5 people is a bit daunting, especially when you can't go back home! Add to that a 3 yr old who is potty training....

I have also completed our budget and my fingers have been flying searching prices for attractions in the ports etc so I can accurately give a budget. Food is stymying (sp?) me but we are ballparking high. We don't tend to buy a lot of souvenirs and are limiting the kids to $75 each for the 3 weeks (not the little one). That seems reasonable and gives them some purchasing experience? I am prepaying my MC so wanted to end up at home debt-free, so needed to calculate how much to apply in advance, and needed to know how many euros and US$ we need. It's all a bit complicated, no? Anyways I am done and feel good about our budget being liveable but responsible.

Off topic, but DH and I are planning on buying a class C motorhome next year. We want to drive to California, Utah, Arizona, Montana (taking a month+ - it's about 5000+ kms each way). We also want to return to the Canadian East Coast again (about 5000km return), and back down to DW (about 5000km return also). So with 3 big trips planned in the next 6 years, as well as our love for camping locally, we are thinking it would be a great thing for us. I can't imagine taking the huge drive to California in our minivan - my ears and um, butt, (or nose, really!) couldn't take 5 or 6 of us in a van for that long, even if we took it slow. It is a dream to show my kids the lower 48 plus the Canadian provinces - all of them. We have done about 12 US states so far by road, and 4 Canadian provinces. If you can't torture kids with roadtrips when they are young, everyone loses out!
Anyone out there have a class C?

This is for the animal lovers, especially of dogs. Check out this video from UK's got talent
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZNtiqK2wPM&feature=channel.

Here in San Francisco it is a typical summer morning; to foggy to see the bay and fog horns sounding. It will burn off by 10:00 - maybe - and get up to 70 My relatives and friends from the midwest and east love to come to beat the heat.

I feel for those of you scared by the earthquake because I know your homes aren't retroed for them and you have all that lovely brick on the sides. Our house is bolted to the foundation, I have my tv strapped down, nothing on the wall over the bed that could fall and shoes near the bed so if we have a EQ I don't step on glass when I get up. Life in California - hold your breath when a truck goes by and shakes the house.

Like many of you I keep checking and still no move on our GTY status. I've also been checking the Gov site because I sent our passports in to be renewed - no indication they have even seen the mail other then my certified confirmation that it got there. I won't stop worrying until we get the new ones.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Love your pun.

We actually experience 30-40 foot swells on one of our Disney cruises; the captain spent the whole cruise skirting around the 2-3 hurricanes in the area at the time. I had to get up in the middle of the night for a potty run and woke up thinking, "Why am I walking uphill?" :lmao:
