OK Ill warn you I've done the skim reading again so appologies if I've missed anything!

UK Folks - Anyone out there with hayfever - has it been like 200% worse today or what? I haven't taken tablets for 2 years and now I'm having to send Dan out for some.

Love all the "meet" and "wedding" stories/photos!

I am still catching up on posts :surfweb:from our trip to Disneyland, last week. It has been 20 years since we did Disneyland in just one day. We used our Give a Day coupons and everyone picked two rides that were "must do" for the six of us.

Prior to leaving, I contacted Disney Cruise Line and tried to get my fuel supplement worked out. I spoke to a supervisor, but she advised that all she could do was re-shop (rebook our cruise), this would save us $84, but as the rate for our cabin had gone up $70 each, I would lose $140 (total fuel supplement was $224). So much for getting up early October 2008 to book our cruise at a great rate. I explained that I understood that some people got the whole supplement back as an onboard credit, she said all they could do is rebook us and that if I could find out who that agent was that authorized the onboard credit, she would talk to them and follow the same procedure.

If someone got the whole fuel supplement back, please let me know who you spoke to. The supervisor put me on hold and came back saying that she had checked with other agents and that is what everyone is doing, re-shopping (rebooking) the cruise rate, and they knew nothing about a full onboard credit for the feul supplement.

I will say that this fuel supplement issue has soured me on how Disney Cruise Line handles their customers. I am trying not to let $140 :headache: bring me down, considering the overall cost of the trip. :)

While on vacation (we're Silver) we were able to book our shore excursions and Palo dinner, without any problems.

On our Disneyland trip, we visited my brother in Manteca (central California) and brother-in-law in Ventura (southern California) and it was a two day drive from Oregon to Disneyland. The weather was great. We saw Toy Story 3 at the Downtown Disney theater and thought it was great. My grandchildren loved it (age 4 and 6).

I wended up rebooking and taking the hit a few months back as didn't want to risk the FSC.

Hey guys....we booked this cruise in December 2008 and I do not see anything on our reservation about a fuel surcharge....is it worked into the price of the cruise or is it stated as a line item?
Thanks!
Tom

As said by others I think DCL stopped charging FSC in December 2008

Ok I must have missed something skimming posts - what are we talking about - inquiring minds want to know!

I always carry an extra fold flat duffle bag with us as a back up for suitcases - especially if we are not using all out allotment just in case!

This is what I'm going to do from now on! Can't believe we didn't bother last time!

For anyone wanting to see which pins I have to trade, here they are - let me know if you want to trade any. I have duplicates of some of them.

Oh my God I love the stitch pin! Need to check if I have it! - I know its bad but I have no idea what pins I have any more! Got excited over a trade in WDW in 2008 only to find I already had 2 of the same pin!

Everybody seems to love dressing up for formal and semi. I guess I am in the minority - I hope I don't offend when I show up in nice pants! I am looking forward to seeing all the dresses!

Erik - maybe you want to get married on Castaway! You would have tons of friends there and it would make for a great party!!! Or the middle of the ocean would be cool - I am up for a wedding!

I'm with you on the not dressing up really! I don't like trousers though so have to do the dress thing - with cycling shorts underneath knowing me lol!

Just got this text message from my nephew Will. He is the one who lost his mother (my sister Karen) 6 years ago when he was 10. I am on the phone to Kaiser Sacramento right now and they are checking to see when he will arrive. He has Type 2 Diabetes and is quite overweight.

Any advice from those who have suffered from Pancreatitis?

Hi, It's Will I thought you need to know that my dad and I will not be staying at your house. I'm not sure when my dad was planning to stay with you, but regardless we won't now. We may come to stay later in the summer but as it is my dad is on his way to Sacramento in an ambulance, as I type this e-mail. I took him to the ER last night and he spent the night there. Sometime between 2:00 this morning and 9:00 this morning the doctors here in Mt. Shasta found that he had Acute Pancreatitis, or an infection of his Pancreas. He and I are alright and we wish you the best of summers.

That is what I had in December, and i am pretty clued up now!! What do you want to know. Is he still in hospital? It is a very nasty illness and he has my sympathy.

The majority of people recover from their one and only attack and never have any problems again.

Still trying to track down BIL. Will be online later. Prayers and pixiedust: for BIL Joe, please!!

We do have to stick together! :)

Dismates was a Disney dating site that is no longer active. I forget when they took it down, but sadly it's not around anymore. We basically did the same thing too, exchanged many PMs (all of which I have saved!), emails, then phone numbers and then we met up for our first date! It was wonderful and I knew right away that he was the one for me. We got engaged at WDW in September of 2008 right before our first Disney cruise and got married on October 17, 2009. It was such a lovely day!!!!!

We had an at-home Disney wedding. We would have loved to have gotten married at WDW, however I really wanted my grandfather there and he wasn't in any condition to travel. (He actually passed away two weeks after the wedding). So we had many Disney aspects in our wedding. My mom sewed hidden Mickey's onto my dress. My bouquet was a hidden Mickey, the flowergirl's flowers were one big hidden Mickey, our unity candle was as close to Cinderella's Castle as I could get, the invitations were Disney, instead of table numbers, we had Disney characters on each table, I etched Mickey's onto the glass candle holders for the center pieces, our cake was Disney and there were so many more little Disney touches, our toasting glasses were wedding Mickey and Minnie, and I had a Mickey charm sewn onto my garter. The next day we went to Disney World for our wonderful honeymoon!

This was our cake table.

I'll have to see if I can find anymore pictures from the wedding and the Disney aspects of it. :)
Amazing.

What a worry for you.

Only 24 pages in four days that's not bad.

We had a great time at DCL but it was to warm.

So i go to read all the pages.:surfweb:

Forgot to comment about the beautiful wedding cake and stories! I love it! My story is nothing related to Disney, but DH is my best friend in the whole world and wouldn't trade a single moment! On our anniversary we are going to spend a week in Park City, Utah and do some "summer" skiing, since we don't like snow -:rotfl2:

We went there after the EBTA and had a great time - only one regret - did not buy a Chip and Dale pin for my daughter - in Paris they are called Tic and Tac and had meant to buy a pin with "Tic and Tac" words on it - people think we are crazy when we tell them this!

We call them in the Netherlands Knabbel en babbel

I will try to be more a more regular poster now - however i think i will just have to let DH know that it is time he became a real DIS DH and either ordered pizza or scavenged something up himself. Constantly expecting me to stop DISing and feed him is putting me too far behind. :rotfl2:

God lucky to your DH with regular home-cooked meals. :rotfl2:

This was our cake table.

:sad2: So sorry, hoping that things get better soon. Will also keep him in my prayers. :grouphug:

I agree the fireworks probably would be over his head (pun intended)!

:thumbsup2

What do you mean "were"? :rotfl2: Seriously, thanks I thought it was cute (and that you all would understand my excitement finding it).

Nice pins off chip and dale.

I have got to the petty worries stage of the whole planning process. Is anyone who needs to ESTA printing off their form from the website? I`m just wondering if DCL will want to see it. I know they can tell when you check in for a flight online, just wondering if Disney will be extra cautious.

The good news is we have $224 onboard credit :woohoo: Though I`m very sympathetic to those who haven`t had this returned to them.

Re the marriage thing, me and poor DH have been married 31 years. We do get on very well which I suppose is only just as well!

I did print ours off this time, but didn't before. The Esta site says you don't need to though as the number is all you need.

How the candy/chocolate swap works
Each player (or stateroom in some cases) will bring 1 small snack/treat sized candy/chocolate bar for each other member of their designated group.

For example, I am playing in 3 groups (2,3&4) so I need to bring 27 candy bars - 9 for each of the 3 groups I am in.

If you would like to play, please PM me with how many groups you want to be in and your stateroom number.

For those playing

Also for those playing, please confirm the following -
1) you still wish to play
2) that you are down for the right number of "groups"
3) your stateroom number if I don't have it noted

Any questions, please ask :)

Hi, Yes you have all the right info for me. Thanks again for organizing this. Now to make sure the candy makes it to the ship . Tru

Glad it isn't just me!

I haven't printed mine as assumed we could go back in to it at some point and print it but we can't so didn't have an option. Do have the numbers though

Actually though my husband is wonderful with numbers, he is terrible about remembering dates for birthdays etc. Our birthdays are a week apart. About Dec 1, he starts asking me when is your birthday again? I remind him to look at his drivers license and subtract a week. I remind him if he forgets mine, I forget his. Seems to work for us.

I thought if we picked a date that we would be celebrating anyway it would make it easier for him to remember. So far, it has worked!:thumbsup2

My husband was also bad with dates. So we chose February 15th - surely he would remember the day after Valentine's Day. Nope! It was always "is our anniversary the day after V.D., the day before V.D, the week after, the week before? You get the picture. We would have celebrated our 25th this year. So I took all the kids and grandkids out to celebrate. We had a great night.

So I thought I would contact DCL regarding the fuel supplement again noting that a number of people that had paid using DVC points were getting the supplement returned as OBC. The repsonse started with the same policy, etc, etc and pin-pointed the DVC as follows:

As far as Disney Vacation Club, these Guests are using their 'points' to
purchase their cruise. These did not reserve their cruise through Disney
Cruise Line as you did. These Guests arranged their cruise through
Disney Vacation Club and are under a contractual agreement that is
governed by the rules and regulations of their membership. How the fuel
supplement is handled is monitored by Disney Vacation Club.

We regret any disappointment and hope these concerns will not continue
to affect your regard for Disney. We hope you understand our position
regarding this situation, as this will be our final correspondence
relating to the fuel supplement on your vacation.

As you can see by the last sentence, I guess they are done with me! Both email responses (to my initial one and this second one) were from "Wilma".

:thumbsup2 for all those that managed to get your $$ back!

Ok... and here's the German version...

Ahoernchen & Bhoernchen.

I am still trying to find a reasonable translation...

Squirrels are called: Eich-hoernchen...

So... they put the A & B infront of the "Hoernchen"
smiley3817.gif

English to American translation: gas = carbonated In other words, if your waiter asks you if you want water with gas, he is asking if you want carbonated water like San Pellegrino etc.

The good thing about us learning English is that at school we can use the British or American version of words n stuff.

Wether it's theatre or theater // centre oder center :cool1:

So... we mix up a lot of stuff...

I remember being shopping at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I was talking to the guy at the cash desk. He kind of couldn't figure where I was from.
As I mostly have no German accent but seem to use odd expressions :rolleyes1

Looking sooo much forward to your accents!!! I LOVE the English language!!! Soo looking forward to speaking it for two weeks.
