That must have been scary for you. You may need an injection for a long haul flight. We both wear flight socks for any flights over 4 hours and do plenty of leg/foot exercises and walk around a bit. some people take the low dose Aspirin too. Even on a car journey we stop and have a short walk every 2 hours. The driver particularly can suffer a DVT because their leg is in one position for such a long time.

Well, it was somekind of scary. But the doctor who sent me to hospital said afterwards that they probably kept me too long.
It was a pretty hard time. They kind of didn't know how to deal with it. They had been afraid of letting me go home. So they kept me in order to being right there in case of an emergency.

Yes, I am pretty curious what the doc wants me to do now.
Honestly I "hate" walking around on planes. I get sick so easily... And I don't wanna disturb the other people... I even hate going to the restrooms on planes...
smiley3922.gif

By the way, congratulations on the win. Germany really deserved it!! We were rubbish, but I am not a football fan, so not as devastated as many!!!:lmao: I'm just sorely embarrassed!!!:rolleyes1

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I also hate walking around on planes, and the restrooms really don't make you want to visit often do they??:scared1: However, they say to drink loads of water, which we now do, so, needs must.:sad2:

So, I have until July 23, to brianwash him into thinking its his idea. Can I do it? :scratchin - I'm always up for a challenge. ;)

:lmao:

Of course you can, play dumb, stroke his ego, manipulate his thoughts, you can do it......anything for some 'candy'! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I am still not sure what we are doing for semi formal night. But we are a little closer to our clothes for this cruise - think I am going to go and start packing!

Krisann

I did a trial pack on the weekend, I thought I might be able to participate in the coconut FE group as well as the kiwi group I'm in now. Well.....that ain't gonna happen! How can one family have so much stuff? :rolleyes1

For all the Aussies we are heading your way in tow weeks and will be home for six weeks. we will prob visit the Goldcoast for a week in August - so if anyone is up for an Aussie DIS meet just let us know! :thumbsup2
We would love to catch up for a Dis meet!!! PM me when you know when you'll be on the Gold Coast and we'll organise something. :thumbsup2:woohoo:

Totally life threatening.
I suffered from a thrombosis during my pregnancy last year. Didn't leave the hospital for 6 weeks. And didn't leave my bed only to go to the restroom.
So NOT fun at all.

I decided to go to a check up a little before the cruise. I'll see what the doc wants me to do during the flight back.
Maybe I'll even have to get injections again
smiley3642.gif
and wear my good old friends: compressions stockings...

WOW, That sounds frightening. I'm glad you're OK. That's a long time in hospital but......Better to be safe than sorry. Those compression stockings are pretty sexy too!

However, they say to drink loads of water, which we now do, so, needs must.:sad2:

You are SO right. But I am not much of a drinker anyway... I even cannot tell you what I like to drink.
smiley1796.gif

Don't like water. ... Sometimes like cold tea. I don't like sweet drinks.
Cannot drink so much stuff with gas.
smiley1281.gif

So it's a sip here and there... But faaaar too few.

Just quickly down the water without thinking about it!!!:thumbsup2

Oh, yes!!!! They make your legs look skinny.

It's torture putting them on!

And wearing them when it has more than 30 C (86 F) outside.
smiley3275.gif

But I am SO happy holding our little baby boy in my hands.

Worth everything!!!:thumbsup2 Plus we all get to see him too!!

It has been a busy weekend prepping for the cruise. I cleaned out my closet, tried on clothes and my gowns. I am going to need some alterations, but feel like I have a good handle on the attire. Will neeed a seconf formal gown. I will need to purchase some unmentionables. Just need to sit down and get them ordered. I even had a new bathing suit in my cruise tub. It fitd great, so need to find a new one:cool1:
Oh, they're totally mentionable on this thread! Or did you miss the Spanx conversation? :lmao::rotfl2:

Is it legal in the middle of the Altantic Ocean? Or maybe one of our ports? I can be your flower girl :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
I'm almost a professional bridesmaid by now with all of my experience so I can help too! :flower3::bride:

Interesting note, I did a good deed and took my sister some lunch.....she works at a Goodwill, while driving there, DH was complaining about having to stop there. I told him, "What are you complaining about, everytime you go with me you find something."

So, I have until July 23, to brianwash him into thinking its his idea. Can I do it? :scratchin - I'm always up for a challenge. ;)
Have to admit, I've been known to hit the GW quite a bit myself!! Lots of ritzy people in Atlanta dump some REALLY nice stuff sometimes!:cool1:

And I have no doubt you can convince him! :thumbsup2

But I just don't have time to read the past 20 or so pages I have missed. Amanda will have to catch me up. So if this has been posted, here it is again. Target has card games in their ad this week. Scrabble Slam, UNO, Monopoly and Sorry. My mission is to buy all of them this week so we will have them for the cruise. They should be easy to pack and at that price if I loose them, no biggie.
Cool! More games!! :dance3::cheer2:

I Totaly agree re 2nd opin. the good people(me and you) just believe what the healthcare profession tell them without q, and although they are nearly always correct, they are only human.
As a nearly always correct healthcare professional :rotfl: I totally agree!! Don't be afraid to question what is told you and get a second opinion!! And since I'm a pharmacist I have to put in the plug that the second opinion doesn't have to be another physician... :rolleyes1

Mark and I met through the DIS 8 years ago, became friends and married a year later :cloud9: Lasting friendships and soulmates too are found on these very boards!:hug:

Awwww!

I found Dave's profile on dismates.com. It mentioned that he visited the Dis and it gave his screename. There was something inside of me saying I had to contact him so I went to the dis, searched through about 20 pages of posts, found him, joined the Dis and then PMed him...the rest you can say is history! :bride:

Since you ask and I got multiple PM where this billboard is.

The billboard is on business 222 (5th street highway) in Reading. You can only see going southbound, It is on the left hand side after the Target and Giant shopping center. It is before you see Muhlenberg HIgh School.

Happy hunting.

We drove through Reading yesterday (well on 222) to get to Lancaster...but I missed it even if we did drive past it.

Just dropping a quick note to say goodbye for the next 10-14 days. The packing up has started with a bang. The garage sales are done. The bin is still in front of the house and I keep throwing more stuff into it. They're coming to collect that on Tuesday so gotta move, gotta move, gotta move!

All things working correctly our movers should be arriving next Saturday morning. We'll load their truck and then watch them drive away; hopefully we won't be too far behind them. Looking forward to a stop in Phoenix at a favorite restaurant over there; Barrio Cafe. From there on to Las Cruces, NM to visit a night with one of my brothers and his family and then on to someplace....not sure if it'll be Laredo, TX or McAllen, TX to cross the border to head to the new digs. We're HOPING that we'll be in San Miguel de Allende by either Thursday or Friday of the next week. The dogs know somethings up cuz we NEVER clean a house like this!

I'll try and catch up with y'all on the new installment - hopefully you won't be on No. 8 by then!

Oh, and if y'all decide to have another type of drink tasting, put us down for it!

Until we next check in with you, be well, be safe, and enjoy life.

Adios y hasta luego!

Michael

Safe travels and I hope your move goes very smoothly.

TheDisneyGirl02 - I love Dutch Wonderland, went there all the time when I was little. After that we would eat at Good and Plenty. Is that still there?

OMG, I loved Dutch Wonderland! We had such a wonderful time yesterday. It was in the 90's the entire day, but my friend's daughter had a blast so in turn so did we! She was so cute and it's amazing how fast she is growing.

I was really impressed by Dutch Wonderland. The park was clean and the staff was wonderful. We all got stickers that said it was our first visit. What was really nice was that it was so family oriented. I grew up in Allentown, PA and that is where Dorney Park is located. When we do have children, I would much prefer to drive the hour and half or so to get to Dutch Wonderland than take my child to Dorney. Dutch Wonderland was what Dorney used to be...now it's more of a hang out than a family park.

And to answer your question, Good and Plenty is still around. I have never had dinner there though. Usually we go to Miller's or Shady Maple. Both are very good, but I have to admit, I like the hot bacon dressing at Miller's more than at Shady Maple. LOL!

Ok - well thanks to Marilyn I have Esta`d! According to Moneysavingexpert we are going to be charged for this from September. Price is uncertain but probably $10+, not enough to stop us Brits visiting the USA :goodvibes

I thought I`d better have a look at our reservation on the DCL site and it says we will be getting onboard credit for the fuel supplement. We booked with DVC points. Anyone else get this message?

I had this message too. I wasn't sure how this worked since we also booked with points. I wonder how much the credit will be!?!?

I got the same notice and called DCL and DVC. I was told the credit was already on our account and was $224 total! Not sure if it's the same amount for everyone. However, I printed out everytime it was mentioned on our account incase there are any problem on the ship.

By the way, congratulations on the win. Germany really deserved it!! We were rubbish, but I am not a football fan, so not as devastated as many!!!:lmao: I'm just sorely embarrassed!!!:rolleyes1

Speaking as one who is devastated, I still agree we were rubbish....even with the disallowed goal......terrible!:sad2:

Another wearer of those sexy stockings here......I agree, they are awful on a hot day...but then again I suppose the alternative is even worse eh?

I am so glad you are ok, and that you have your lovely baby too...we look forward to meeting you all!:)

 another lovely story! I don't know what Dismates is but am guessing its an online friendship/dating site? It's so good when you meet your soul mate isn't it? Even better when you have such a great thing in common!:cloud9: Mark and I started chatting on the boards (back in 2001), swapped pms, eventually met up and the rest......well....not easy but every day is worth all the struggle we had on the way....:lovestruc:woohoo:

Us 'DIS-mates' have to stick together eh?

I promise to try to catch up soon but between the new job and school, I just don't have the time.

OH that sounds great!!! I am on my way to Target to get some games.....DD leaves for her trip to Russia on Saturday and can use them, then I can use them in September!! Thanks for the info!! :goodvibes

Wow i think I missed almost all of thread 6 and it's taken me two weeks to catch up again.

There are too many things going on to quote them all:
but to those with health issues i hope they clear up soon.
To those who are celebrating weddings and anniversaries - congratulations.

I have finally convinced my DM to join us. she is now paid up and confirmed. The kids are so excited and are already planning on everything they need to show Grandma.

School finishes for the kids this week and we start ten weeks vacation - that ends.... you guessed it one week before our cruise starts! oh well the school wont be happy but what to do? :confused3

For all the Aussies we are heading your way in tow weeks and will be home for six weeks. we will prob visit the Goldcoast for a week in August - so if anyone is up for an Aussie DIS meet just let us know! :thumbsup2

I will try to be more a more regular poster now - however i think i will just have to let DH know that it is time he became a real DIS DH and either ordered pizza or scavenged something up himself. Constantly expecting me to stop DISing and feed him is putting me too far behind. :rotfl2:

Welcome back!! How fun that your DM is coming along with you guys!!

DH's must understand there is DIS and there is food and which comes first!!

For those of you who have been to Gibraltar and Madeira before, are you aware of a place that you can purchase a postcard and stamp at that port-of-call and drop it off for delivery? When traveling to new, unique places, I like to send picturesque postcards back home so it documents the location as well as dates when we were there. Besides, it's always enjoyable to receive when it arrives and great for the scrapbook!
Kimberly, postcards are readily available at the numerous souvenir shops.

In Gibraltar, we went to the Central Post Office. It's on Main Street between Tuckey's Lane and Market Lane. Postage to the U.S. is 51 pence.

There is a post office in Funchal right in the heart of town, close to the Zarco monument. The post office is on Avenida Zarco one half block north of Avenida Arriaga.

Woody

Below are the names I have for those interested in shared ground transport from Barcelona area hotels to the port.

PM me if you would like to add yourself to the list - no obligation at this stage.

We need someone to take on the task of actually arranging the transport from the hotels to the port? Pretty please...

I might be willing BUT a big caveat. I would suspect that to arrange transportation of this magnitude, we might have to prepay vendor or at very least guarantee payment.

People would have to really be committed to this mode. I could get some quotes but would not be willing to so to speak pay the freight if people bailed at the last minute.

Congratulations!

How did you pick July 4 for a wedding date?

Woody

Actually though my husband is wonderful with numbers, he is terrible about remembering dates for birthdays etc. Our birthdays are a week apart. About Dec 1, he starts asking me when is your birthday again? I remind him to look at his drivers license and subtract a week. I remind him if he forgets mine, I forget his. Seems to work for us.

I thought if we picked a date that we would be celebrating anyway it would make it easier for him to remember. So far, it has worked!:thumbsup2

English to American translation: gas = carbonated In other words, if your waiter asks you if you want water with gas, he is asking if you want carbonated water like San Pellegrino etc.
