Kimberly, postcards are readily available at the numerous souvenir shops.

In Gibraltar, we went to the Central Post Office. It's on Main Street between Tuckey's Lane and Market Lane. Postage to the U.S. is 51 pence.

There is a post office in Funchal right in the heart of town, close to the Zarco monument. The post office is on Avenida Zarco one half block north of Avenida Arriaga.

Woody

Thanks for the info. I am going to add this to my never ending facts file about those cities.

Weather update for September in Madeira from Eusébia:

Now, about our weather: in September we can have all kind of weather conditions, from hot to cold to rainy. Yes, it varies a lot depending on where you are. It can be nice and warm in Funchal, but cold on the mountains, so it’s always wise to carry a jacket, even if, at first, it feels like you won’t be needing one.

 another lovely story! I don't know what Dismates is but am guessing its an online friendship/dating site? It's so good when you meet your soul mate isn't it? Even better when you have such a great thing in common!:cloud9: Mark and I started chatting on the boards (back in 2001), swapped pms, eventually met up and the rest......well....not easy but every day is worth all the struggle we had on the way....:lovestruc:woohoo:

Us 'DIS-mates' have to stick together eh?

We do have to stick together! :)

Dismates was a Disney dating site that is no longer active. I forget when they took it down, but sadly it's not around anymore. We basically did the same thing too, exchanged many PMs (all of which I have saved!), emails, then phone numbers and then we met up for our first date! It was wonderful and I knew right away that he was the one for me. We got engaged at WDW in September of 2008 right before our first Disney cruise and got married on October 17, 2009. It was such a lovely day!!!!!

We had an at-home Disney wedding. We would have loved to have gotten married at WDW, however I really wanted my grandfather there and he wasn't in any condition to travel. (He actually passed away two weeks after the wedding). So we had many Disney aspects in our wedding. My mom sewed hidden Mickey's onto my dress. My bouquet was a hidden Mickey, the flowergirl's flowers were one big hidden Mickey, our unity candle was as close to Cinderella's Castle as I could get, the invitations were Disney, instead of table numbers, we had Disney characters on each table, I etched Mickey's onto the glass candle holders for the center pieces, our cake was Disney and there were so many more little Disney touches, our toasting glasses were wedding Mickey and Minnie, and I had a Mickey charm sewn onto my garter. The next day we went to Disney World for our wonderful honeymoon!

This was our cake table.

I'll have to see if I can find anymore pictures from the wedding and the Disney aspects of it. :)

I can second that. We stayed in a beautiful complex up at Cabo Girao, and you could be sitting in the sun one minute and then see the cloud roll in and then you couldn't see anything, and yes it was cold. Quite disappointing actually.

What a truly lovely and inspiring story!! I am so glad your found your Prince Charming and he found his Princess!!

What a shame they took down the Dismates board. Maybe there were some problems between participants.

I tried to find it on the DCL site and couldn't see it - where should I look?

When you go to your reservation, click on "View cruise details" it should open a page with the charges broken out. Fuel supplement will be one of the items, if you are being charged.

Oh thank you for sharing your story! Lovely photo too. I have lots of photos of our wedding on FB which you are welcome to look at...I dont know how to add them here Im afraid!:rolleyes1

We got engaged at WDW in October 2002 while on holiday with my teenage dd (much to her disgust! ) and married 6 months later....
We didn't have a Disney wedding, though we'd have loved to marry in Florida too. We couldn't expect our family to fly over (and we didnt have the money to pay for them!) so we had a lovely small wedding in a local medieval hall....

southchurch hall

My mum made us a beautiful cake (I must try and post a pic) and we had a party at my parents house for all our family and friends.
Our honeymoon was spent of course in Florida and we did our first Disney cruise as part of it.....the start of our love for DCL too! :woohoo:

I do feel truly lucky to have met Mark, he has been my rock, and an absolutely fantastic step dad to my Becky through some incredibly difficult times.......I know it wasn't easy for a 30 year old single guy to take on a problem teenager!:lovestruc (let alone her neurotic mother) :lmao:

Ah well, what a lot we have to thank the DIS and Disney for in particular......without that mouse......!!!!:woohoo:

Sorry, I'll stop waffling now......

I thought if we picked a date that we would be celebrating anyway it would make it easier for him to remember. So far, it has worked!
Good idea. Plus, fireworks on your anniversary.

Woody

Sounds like it will be warm in Funchal but best to be prepared. We are traveling to the mountains, then back down to the coast.

What a lovely story!! I love the place you got married. Very romantic!!

I am sure he felt very lucky to have you in his life!! My DH was over 40 when we married and took on my kids. We were lucky to have one of our own. They think of him as Dad and GK's have known no other GF.

Thank you Noel. We are both blessed with our husbands aren't we? Sadly no children of our own as I didn't carry them to full term, it wasn't meant to be I guess.:sad1: Mind you, I think we have our hands full with Becky some times.....Bless her!

Yes, of every kind!!

:rotfl::rotfl:

DW Mona and I are looking forward to meeting y’all and experiencing the MAGIC once again.
John (aka Commodore Jack)

Welcome to the group:cool1:

I am Jon, and DW is Candida.

This is her 4th trip to Russia and the Ukraine....there are members for the USA, Canada and Australia that go every year the first 2 weeks in July and sponsor a youth camp for the children, many of which are in an orphanage. They have many activities during the 2 weeks along with distributing Bibles to the children in their own language. All of this is approved by the Russian government.
:thumbsup2 Hoping for safe travels for her.

Hi All!

I've posted now and then, but have mostly been absent from these discussions due to a killer work and travel schedule, and notice that there are a lot more folks posting here now. I'm Richard, and my DW is the Lady Jacky. She's English, I'm American, but we've both lived in Toronto, Canada for quite some years now. (Toronto's a great compromised between London and NYC!).

Another Canadian:cool1: We are in Port Colborne.

And wow, can I just say there are sure a lot of Johns on this cruise!

There is at least one "John" per stateroom. :lmao: Sorry, going on little sleep right now, couldn't resist.

Jon (the person, not the washroom:rotfl:)

:lmao::lmao: I was going to say the same Jon but wasn't sure if it was called the same in the US! :thumbsup2

Just got this text message from my nephew Will. He is the one who lost his mother (my sister Karen) 6 years ago when he was 10. I am on the phone to Kaiser Sacramento right now and they are checking to see when he will arrive. He has Type 2 Diabetes and is quite overweight.

Any advice from those who have suffered from Pancreatitis?

Hi, It's Will I thought you need to know that my dad and I will not be staying at your house. I'm not sure when my dad was planning to stay with you, but regardless we won't now. We may come to stay later in the summer but as it is my dad is on his way to Sacramento in an ambulance, as I type this e-mail. I took him to the ER last night and he spent the night there. Sometime between 2:00 this morning and 9:00 this morning the doctors here in Mt. Shasta found that he had Acute Pancreatitis, or an infection of his Pancreas. He and I are alright and we wish you the best of summers.

Yes, of every kind!!

Well, I'm glad DS10 is at Cub Scout camp today. He likes to read over my shoulder :surfweb: when I'm on the Dis. He likes to see the pix and anticipate our next cruise with me. I think I'll have to keep him to the main forum what with the talk of fireworks, spanx, and other unmentionables!

So glad you liked Dutch Wonderland. I love Miller's also. What memories it brings back. Does Duth Wonderland still have the swan ride in the very front?

July 24th is a special day! Lots of anniversaries and birthdays going on. Noel, your fireworks comment was priceless.:rotfl2:

I do not like going to the bathroom on airplanes either and I really don't drink because I would have to go at least 3 x's! Ugh! It is very discouraging. I guess I will have to change my ways for the Barcelona flight.

Everybody seems to love dressing up for formal and semi. I guess I am in the minority - I hope I don't offend when I show up in nice pants! I am looking forward to seeing all the dresses!

Erik - maybe you want to get married on Castaway! You would have tons of friends there and it would make for a great party!!! Or the middle of the ocean would be cool - I am up for a wedding!

I think with all the double entendre, it would go right past him. I know my GS would not even get it!! He wouldn't even read or ask questions unless it interested him.

Just my thoughts...
