I am really worried that my DS Danny has got Glandular Fever or Mononucleiosis as it is called in the USA. He has had the symptoms of acute tonsillitis for a week now and it hasn't responded to penicillin .... so now he has a blood test tomorrow.

It is really bad timing as we were due away skiing on Thursday and if he has got this I won't want to go for sure. He also has important school exams in 2 weeks and if he has this then he is likely to miss the exams and have to do them again in the summer. I really need some pixie dust and hope that the test shows he doesn't have it. The poor thing is so not himself at the moment .... very fatigued and lethargic and in lots of pain with his throat.
And there is no real treatment .... which is very frustrating and makes me feel useless : (

Oh dear! Pixie dust for sure! :wizard:

Hi Noel,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I am just getting back to the disboard after being away for a Music Retreat. I am also looking forward to meeting you and your husband. Everyone I have spoken to says this is a really friendly group. Have you taken a cruise before? With Disney? I have visted a few of the Disney resorts and was really pleased. I am sure this will be as great. Talk to you soon..Trudy

Trudy, you are going to LOVE this trip! :woohoo: There are lots of us in your age group and we are a very friendly bunch! :grouphug:

Ok, I give, what is a Music Retreat?

I think this is a terrific group. My DH and I have cruised many times on Sitmar, Crystal, Princess, the Big Red Boat, Celebrity and RCCL.

I also cruised quite a few times with my family in the 1960's and 1970's when cruising was quite different. Cruising is one of my favorite ways to travel.

This is my 4th cruise on DCL. First was with GD Aspen, then two with family (Spring break 2006 and NYE cruise in the Walt suite in 2007). We have also spent Xmas week at WDW.

Growing up in California, I have been to Disneyland many, many times since it opened in 1955. Sometimes I would take my kids just for the day. We would fly down on a 6:30AM flight and return on a 11:00 PM flight on good old PSA. Boy does that date me!! I wonder how many people even remember PSA!!

We have our hotels and flights all lined up. All we have to do is make our final payment!!

I remember PSA! But then I was an Orange County teenager in the 1960's. :) PSA was the airlines our military loves used to get to SF. Our being my sis and girlfriends.

I can remember the $25 one way fare to Orange county from San Jose!!!

PSA obviously a USA airline...but the topic made me smile. Question for everyone, whats your earliest memory of travelling by plane?

My first ever trip was on an old Vickers Viscount from Liverpool Speke to the Isle of man on a school trip in 1967! Museum piece now lol! (The plane not me....:lmao:)

I love planes and have clocked up many miles in the air since then. From big ones to small ones. Although admit I am rather anxious the next one as we are flying on the A380 Superjumbo next month ...having seen one parked up...its HUGE! :scared1:

Any one else have fond plane memories?

Oh dear Sarah! Fingers crossed its not! I know its going around at the moment - we've got 3 people in work with it at the moment!

Is anyone planning to vacation in Spain prior to taking the cruise? I am looking for a chartered bus trip. I took one last year to England and Scotland and loved it. Any suggestions?

Sorry not going to be much help as only coming in to Spain the night before. Barcelona is a lovely city though and there's loads to see

Thought I would post a question of the week as nobody did it yesterday ....

Disney Question: What are your all-time favourite Disney songs / music and why?

Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?

Thought I would post a question of the week as nobody did it yesterday ....

Disney Question: What are your all-time favourite Disney songs / music and why?

Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?

1. I find this so difficult as I love so many. But my all-time favourite Disney song would have to be "Wishes" as I have so many happy memories of watching the fireworks in both Disneyland Paris and Magic Kingdom and just crying all of the way through. I also love the music from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and the soundtracks from all 3 movies. My favourite Disney movie song would have to be "Under the Sea"

2. Again a difficult one. Before Pirates of the Caribbean came along my favourite movie was Titanic, it evoked so much emotion and captured a moment in time so well. But I also enjoy light-hearted romantic comedies such as Pretty Woman, Love Actually, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and a Funeral etc. When I go to the cinema I like escapism and don't like to have to think too hard :rotfl:

Sarah.........How is Danny this am?
I think she mean a day tour around the city but that is just my thoughts....:surfweb:
:thumbsup2sounds more like it.

That will be amazing!! I love all my flights, Im still old fashioned and love to fly, biigest regret, not being abole to afford a concorde trip.

Disney Question: What are your all-time favourite Disney songs / music and why?
EASY...when you wish upon a star, makes me cry and reminds me of our honeymoon.
Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?

I love Trainspotting and Jackie Brown.

Disney Question: What are your all-time favourite Disney songs / music and why?
I love the music from The Little Mermaid and The Lion King.

Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?
I have the taste of a twelve-year-old boy in movies - all sci-fi and action! I do also like anything that takes place in a historical time period.

Sarah.........How is Danny this am?

Much the same to be honest ... he woke up really rough, and I looked down his throat and the tonsils were stuck together:scared1: . Then he had his ibuprofen and throat spray and then after about half an hour he felt a bit better and drank a yogurt drink. By lunchtime he had some corn snacks and then we went to the hospital for the blood test, after which he felt like an ice cream so he had a magnum. Back from the hospital he is now sleeping on the sofa again.

I still don't know what to do about the ski trip :confused3:confused3

He tells me to go as he will be fine staying with his Nan, and to be honest she wouldn't do anything different from us, and Danny will be resting up most of the time anyhow. But I am still worrying like crazy and even though it is only 4 days, I hate to be away from my kids if they are ill.:hug:

Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?

Music: I love the music to our Fantasmic here at Disneyland!! To have to pick a fav from all the movies would be like having to pick a favorite child. ;)

There's no way I could pick just one so here are my top 10 in no particular order (non-Disney):

Edward Scissorhands
Love Actually
Moulin Rouge
Shaun of the Dead
Batman Begins
Bridget Jone's Diary
Chicago
A Knight's Tale
The Departed
American Beauty

Sarah...pixiedust: on its way.

John and I are arriving in Barcelona on Wednesday morning. We are planning to sightsee on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

John just got back Friday night from Barcelona and found some great ideas for us to do. One of the things that everyone says not to miss is La Sagrada Family. He also went to the Martime Museum which he said was ho hum. I also want to see the Picasso Museum.

We are considering taking a tour but have not decided on which one yet as we are reviewing several options. I will keep you posted.

What about taking the hop-on, hop-off bus?
