Good questions for the week!
Well, for me, my favorite Disney songs include the songs from Illuminations at Epcot and movie-wise I LOVE the songs from Brother Bear.

As for favorite non Disney movies, there are too many to list. But one of my all time, gotta watch it whenever it is on the tv, movies is While You Were Sleeping ;)

Anyone finding any cheap airfares?? Seems like they have gone up over the past few weeks.

I can remember the $25 one way fare to Orange county from San Jose!!!
And only $12 military standby. :thumbsup2 Made it possible for those weekend trips home!
PSA obviously a USA airline...but the topic made me smile. Question for everyone, whats your earliest memory of travelling by plane?

My first ever trip was on an old Vickers Viscount from Liverpool Speke to the Isle of man on a school trip in 1967! Museum piece now lol! (The plane not me....:lmao:)

I love planes and have clocked up many miles in the air since then. From big ones to small ones. Although admit I am rather anxious the next one as we are flying on the A380 Superjumbo next month ...having seen one parked up...its HUGE! :scared1:

Any one else have fond plane memories?

First flight was with my two (then) little girls from So. CA to Texas to visit my grandparents. I remember a couple of hours layover in El Paso where I was missing Dennis terribly (it had been a couple of hours since I had seen him!) and they announced a flight leaving for LAX and I just really wanted to get on that one and fly right back home! But I did not and am really, really glad I made that trip to see my grandparents. I also love flying!

Thought I would post a question of the week as nobody did it yesterday ....

Disney Question: What are your all-time favourite Disney songs / music and why?

Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?

Disney song - A Whole New World. I love it because it is so my life with Dennis. I was a very young, terribly shy, girl with no self confidence. He has shown me a whole new world, a wonderous place. I can't go back to where I used to be.

Movie - like others there are a few.
The Patriot
We Were Soldiers
The Postman
Little Manhattan
While You Were Sleeping
An Officer and a Gentleman

And I LOVE old movies from the 40's and 50's. Turner Classic Movies is my favorite channel.

There's no way I could pick just one so here are my top 10 in no particular order (non-Disney):

Edward Scissorhands
Love Actually
Moulin Rouge
Shaun of the Dead
Batman Begins
Bridget Jone's Diary
Chicago
A Knight's Tale
The Departed
American Beauty

I love lots of those movies: Edward Scissorhands, Love Actually, Moulin Rouge, Bridget Jones Diary, Chicago and Knight's Tale are all brilliant movies.

Sarah...pixiedust: on its way.

Thanks :goodvibes:goodvibes

Disney music - Love the music at EPCOT for the fireworks.

Illuminations is amazing ... great choice:goodvibes

Much the same to be honest ... he woke up really rough, and I looked down his throat and the tonsils were stuck together:scared1: . Then he had his ibuprofen and throat spray and then after about half an hour he felt a bit better and drank a yogurt drink. By lunchtime he had some corn snacks and then we went to the hospital for the blood test, after which he felt like an ice cream so he had a magnum. Back from the hospital he is now sleeping on the sofa again.

I still don't know what to do about the ski trip :confused3:confused3

He tells me to go as he will be fine staying with his Nan, and to be honest she wouldn't do anything different from us, and Danny will be resting up most of the time anyhow. But I am still worrying like crazy and even though it is only 4 days, I hate to be away from my kids if they are ill.:hug:

Go, he would feel even worse than he does now if you missed it!

I emailed Marriot Guest serices who sent me a link to put in data like pillow requests etc and then I was able to book the shuttle. on the 11am one

Thanks Sarah, i have just mailed them (well filled in a form to customer service) so will see what comes back.

I have just checked the costs again and it has come down another €15 for that night and €5 for the night in Aug so have rebooked - it is so easy with marriots rewards, i just chose to book another night to see how much and when it was cheaper i booked it and then cancelled the other booking.

I think that is €70 in two days!!

Sorry to hear about your son. That sounds really rough.

Hi Sara and Liz. I am new to the board and new to Disney Cruises. This is my first. Liz, it seems as if there are a few of us sixties+ sailing. I look forward to meeting you both. I am travelling with my dd, her husband and 3 kids. We have travelled several times to the Disney Resorts in Orlando but this is the first time on a cruise. We have a great time together so I am really excited about this trip. Trudy

We do have a great time together, huh?

Thought I would post a question of the week as nobody did it yesterday ....

Disney Question: What are your all-time favourite Disney songs / music and why?

I would find it hard to choose just one., but a few have been mentioned such as When you wish upon a star, music from the Lion King and Illuminations.

Non-Disney Question: What are your favourite non-Disney movies?
So many but to name a few:
Any Cary Grant movie
I have a huge Star Trek fan, so the all the Star Trek movies including the new Star Trek movie.
Love disaster movies like Armageddon, Deep Impact, Fifth Element and that genre
The Day the Earth Stood Still and Forbidden Planet which my parents took me to see at Grauman's Chinese when I was little.

We are considering that option as many tours seem to run over $100 per person and often don't include entrance fees!! Picasso seems to be $36 for both of us and is a must see. I can prepay and get a voucher for both the museums and the bus so that is a plus.

And only $12 military standby. :thumbsup2 Made it possible for those weekend trips home!

I had forgotten about those flights!! I sure miss the days when you could rack up tons of miles and use them for trips with your kids. We would fly to Hawaii for the weekend, leaving right after school on Friday and come back on Pan AM flight one just in time to drive to school.

We're staying at the Renaissance the night before, and I contacted them about their port shuttle. They have shuttles scheduled at 11, 12 and 1, but have offered to arrange a shuttle for 10am if needed (would put us at port around 10:30 by their calculations.)

For florida cruises, I'm usually at the port at 9:30 or 9:45 so I can be one of the first ones in the terminal when we're trying to get an upgrade. I don't know if we'd be trying to upgrade on this one, (or if they will be upgrades available) but I was wondering what time the port opens, and what time should we plan on getting there?

Any prior Barcelona cruisers have some advice before I respond back to the hotel concierge?

Thanks!

This was not a fond plane memory but it was my first time flying and I was by myself. I had to help drive the car from St Petersburg, Florida down to Key West, Fla. Then I flew back. I remember getting on the plane in Key West and sat in the last seat. We entered from the back of the plane. The guy next to me handed me a cup of coffee and said to just wait a while before I drank it cause it was very hot. This was June of 1968 and there were still hijackings to Cuba and I was very nervous. The runway there is very short since the island is only one mile long and I think two miles wide. The pilot comes on and I swear I wanted to jump off the back. He was young, wearing jeans and short sleeved shirt and looked what I thought was Cuban:eek: it was all I could do not to scream. Man oh man being 17 at the time, did my mind play tricks on me.!!!!:lmao: Then I had to wait for a flight in Miami to get back to Tampa. The Tampa airport was so small that I walked down the steps right up to my Uncle. No winding walkways, no security, nothing.

My second time flying was leaving Key West in a 727 and I remember hoping the plane was gonna get off the ground since the runway is not that big at all.
Now I love flying except when I have to fly in a puddle jumper!!:lmao:

Thats my current favoured option for the Friday. We have done this in several world wide cities, most recently Boston (wow one of the best we have ever done, and the best hop on hop off bus ever) ...and it has always worked for us. Before we go to a place, we note a list of the must do tourist attractions. On our designated bus day, usually the first day, we get up early. Have a day ticket, and first of all stay on the bus for the full circuit with the usually provided map. We take pics when we can, either through window or if its warm from open deck. Generally get the "lay of the land". When we get back to the starting board point we stay on to our first chosen attraction, then get off and go explore. Sometimes we note that its quick to walk to the next attraction...so might do a couple before getting back on the bus..and so on...
Adjust the length of stay according to the time we have and the tickets. If we only have one day..we do the full circuit...so we have seen from a distance the best things..and choose a couple of the most must see things..as time allows...
Sorry to ramble but we love sightseeing and taking pics of cities! :)

I think we are thinking on exactly the same lines. We have done the Gray Line tours in many cities to get the "lay of the land".

DH and I are thinking of doing the Picasso Museum the first day we arrive. If we don't see everything we want there, we will go back on Thursday. We have a few must sees and that is one of them. However, I do want a tour of the city just to see all of the landmarks.

I want a trip in a puddle jumper! :rotfl2:

DH used to be a private pilot when he had more time. He learned to fly at John Wayne Airport (Orange County) back in the 1970's. Catalina for lunch was a big hit. Living in northern California, we flew the kids all over the place. Plus, we would fly to Half Moon Bay for lunch. Takes a lot of time to stay current so he hasn't flown in a few years but sure takes me back!!

Give Nothing Back!!!

Good to see you on the boards Captain!

Wish we could make it to see the Mouse before the cruise, but I can barely manage a trip to see Glenns family in FL prior to the cruise, so I think Disney Land is out...

I do think the Pirate Night photos are pushing me into another suitcase... One full of Pirate gear and garb...

More SNOW!!!

Just watch the new and there calling for 12 to 18 inches of snow for Thursday to Friday. There also call in a snowicane. I need to move to the south.

Hang in there!! Snow and ice is the exact reason that Glenn and I moved to Atlanta from Baltimore. We moved after the great ice storm... University of MD couldn't reopen after winter break, you could have ice skated on the front lawn if you desired... I pretty much knew that I didn't want to be anywhere that would be like that again...

Ofcourse, here it threatens to snow and the city grinds to a halt, so one way or another you pay a price...

I am really worried that my DS Danny has got Glandular Fever or Mononucleiosis as it is called in the USA. He has had the symptoms of acute tonsillitis for a week now and it hasn't responded to penicillin .... so now he has a blood test tomorrow.

It is really bad timing as we were due away skiing on Thursday and if he has got this I won't want to go for sure. He also has important school exams in 2 weeks and if he has this then he is likely to miss the exams and have to do them again in the summer. I really need some pixie dust and hope that the test shows he doesn't have it. The poor thing is so not himself at the moment .... very fatigued and lethargic and in lots of pain with his throat.
And there is no real treatment .... which is very frustrating and makes me feel useless : (

:pixiedust: to you and your family and I hope for a speedy recovery for your DS. Take heart and know you are doing all you can for Danny.
