Just read on the blog that the Once Upon a Song is as I suspected, the cast singing random Disney songs. Not sure Ill be attending that as no one can beat the real things or Susan Egan singing some!

Once Upon a Song was the filler show they had on the Magic in February and March while they set up for the Villians show and did on-ship rehersals. By all reports of those who sailed on the Magic during that time, it was a yawner, especially for the kiddos. While folks said that the songs were well sung, they weren't super lively and they also weren't the most popular or well known of the Disney songs.

I was really hoping for the Cirque type show that was on the last TA cruises in 2007. That sounded cool. With little kids, they love the musicals, but the comedy and other variety shows just don't keep their interest enough. I guess we'll be skipping some of the shows or doing more movies.

The shuttle to the port is free from the airport hotel.

Which Hotels ???

pirate:

The Renaissance Barcelona Airport Hotel.

There is a free hotel shuttle bus too.

Unless something has changed, the shuttle from the Renaissance to the port is not free, but it's not super expensive either. I think it was like 10 euro/adult and 6 euro per child. Definitely cheaper than a taxi, but not free.

The shuttle from the hotel to/from the airport is free.

I went to renaissance Hotel on line and didnt see any rooms for a Family of 4 ...well except the 2 bedroom suite , and I am not about to put 450 euro a night for a room ...LOL

Far be it from me to nay-say anything DCL----since anyone who knows me well will tell you that could probably use medication for my DCL, WDW & Tigger obessions :lmao::lmao:---but we thought "Mickey Dreams" (the cheap cirque knock-off show) was dreadful.

As for the other entertainment....we're doing the B2B...so we'll probably sit through everything on the last Med...and anything that isn't good we won't sit through again on the TA-----that'll be extra pool time or we'll play bananagrams in the atrium!! :thumbsup2

Hi there,

Well I have just booked the Transatlantic WB cruise! I am heading over from Sydney Australia, my sister is on the Walt Disney World International College Program and mum and I are using the excuse of her being in Florida to make a few trips to visit!

Anyway we are also on the 11 night Med cruise on the 15 May so it should be a lot of fun.

It is nice to meet you all!

Ella

:welcome: on board. We are also doing an 11 night Med cruise, but we are on the April 24th cruise.

Greetings from the Magic. We are having a lovely time in the mid Atlantic, having cleared the Bermuda Triangle. I think they would call this a calm sea; just the basic rocking of a cruiseliner. We had much more rolling Halloween 2008.

Brent is CD. Natalee is still running BINGO and Neville is out about helping.

About 2200 cruisers; 1100 CC; 360 DISers; perhaps 450 kids.

Haven't seen Villians yet; I think it's Friday, along with Match your Mate.

Lynne

Thanks for coming by and the update. I am glad to know that Brent is the cruise director at the moment. He was the cruise director on our very first cruise and nobody so far has come even come close. I also really liked Natalee.

Yea! The folks on the EBTA cruise confirmed that the photo CD is $399, which is the same price it was on the 7nt cruises. I was afraid they were going to raise the price to something even more unreasonable.

I think I might have to seriously consider this for the TA.

Hi everyone! It's been really great getting to know you all, but I've decided to cancel my cruise. It will just be too tight on my budget for this year, and I've been stressing way too much about it. I'm also really crushed about the lack of named entertainment, and the extra formal nights, which were the tipping points in my decision. Maybe I'll see you on some future Disney cruise (when the Fantasy comes out I'll definitely be sailing DCL again), but in the meantime I think I'll be checking out another line. I hope you all have a wonderful time, and enjoy all those tastings for me! :goodvibes

I am sorry to hear that you won't be joining us.

Well, I am officially in single digits for my next cruise. I am just hoping that we can get there. I am not sure if all of you have heard about this, but there was a major volcanic eruption in Iceland and the cloud of ash is drifting over the UK had the moment causing all the flights in and out of the UK to be cancelled. At the moment the UK airspace will be closed until at least 1 PM tomorrow, but I would be surprised if any flights will be allowed to operate until at least Sunday and there is a possibility that this could drag on much longer than that. Working for an airline was definitely interesting today.

We were PIF last Oct, the rate was good then and took a chance and paid it all off. We use the Nationwide CC as they only charge about .7% so you almost get the full bank rate on the day. :thumbsup2 The Post Office do a fee free card so you will get the full rate with that one, could be worth looking into. :cool1:
Could anyone give me the Disney telephone No. for putting OBC on, the exchange rate is creeping up so thinking about putting some credit on, did have it from 2 years ago but cant find it now.

I used Nationwide too, always do for US$ transactions, no rewards but much better exchange rate.

just read this in the Live! thread;

"There are many more tastings than the usual martini, taquila, wine. They have a new mixology one that seemed to go over real well. One of my tablemates went and said it was the best one she has ever done. They have red wine, white wine, cognac. I can't remember them all. I'll post Navigators when I get home and figure out how."

Sounds like DCL has developed all the tastings we are interested in for group tastings. Very cool.

Its gonna be two pairs of tidy pants and mix/match tops for me for all dinners... Though I do have a very nice fancy Mickey Mouse jumper which I've actually stopped wearing around Disney fans - I've been offered so many times with people wanting to buy it off me! I did wear it to semi-formal night on one cruise as its kinda sparkly :rotfl2:

Oooh, Sounds like a cute top! I think I'll take your lead and try to pack lot's of mix and match tops and bottoms. Since it's going into WInter here it is hard to buy Summer stuff for the cruise now! Although I've read it;s quite cool on the ship? Anyone know?

LOL you can join us in the "Im wearing jeans and a shirt to dinner on semi night and you wont stop me!" camp.

I'm joining, Although I might break out a skirt!

Jason and I ALWAYS pack a collapsible duffle bag in the outer pocket of one of our suitcases in case we need it----and because you often end a vacation with more stuff than you started it with (between clothes you buy, souvenirs you pick up, the assortment of fish extender presents, etc. :lmao:)

Great Idea!:thumbsup2

LOL! I was the one who took 2 cases to WDW in 2008 and on the way back was over on my suitcase so had to pay $75 excess. Really annoying as could have had 4 cases! They didn't give me a chance to get another bag as the woman said the queue was too long and so we had to pay then and there! This time I'm taking a spare bag inside one case so I have enough room and making sure I do not take too much! Unfortunately most of my handluggage ends up being taken up by my inhaler spacer so can never get much in there! Oh well need to rationallise more lol.

We take our luggage scales and weigh everything before we go to the airport. I always put heavy stuff in the front pockets (like books) just in case our scales are different to the airports, Then I can just take a few things out of the front pocket and put it in my carry on. We are expert packers, There are 4 of us, and we our in the Airlines Frequent Flyer program, so we have an allowance of 10 bags between us at 23Kg's each, and we usually use every last KG! Shopping in the USA is just so much cheaper than here!:thumbsup2

Yea! The folks on the EBTA cruise confirmed that the photo CD is $399, which is the same price it was on the 7nt cruises. I was afraid they were going to raise the price to something even more unreasonable.

So, We got the $100 per person on board credit x4 = $400...So we get the Photo CD for free! Great!:goodvibes

What images come on the photo CD? Is it all the shutters photos? The last time we cruised, on the Wonder in May '09, they had the digital viewing stations up but they were not offering any digital/CD package. You still had to order prints. Jason and I have written on our DCL evaluations for YEARS that we wanted to photos (i.e. Shutters photos) to be brought onto a format like Photopass where you can purchase (even at a seemingly high price point) to get all your pictures on a CD.

You see, Jason and I are photo-junkies. We seldom have photos in our own camera in which we are both together (because usually one of us is holding the camera)----so photopass and shutters are a real treasure for us (plus they often take such amazing photos). In the parks we NEVER walk past a photopass photographer without stopping and we often, if there's no line, do multiple poses! :thumbsup2 We also always buy the biggest package from Shutters, too-----but the bad thing is that we don't hang 8x10 pictures at our house. Our basement stairwell has magnetic paint on the walls and we use the walls there as a living scrapbook and 4x6 prints from all our vacations get put up there. So we always end up scanning those big pictures from Shutters and then resizing them and printing them at home as a 4x6.....so if we coudl get the images digitally on a CD that would be so much better!!

Looks like your in luck! :yay:

pirate:

Not sure if it's what your looking for, But we are a family of 4 and we booked here for about 79 euro a night. The hotel is brand new, looks quite nice.

I have been busy as always.

Who do I need to contact to sign up for Fish extenders?

Hope you are all doing well.

I used similiar logic on the 4nt cruise we did in January. I wasn't going to get the CD, then I won the DVC drawing for a $300 OBC, so it paid for the CD (which was $299 on the 4nt cruise).

I was just looking at the info for this cruise on the DCL site, and saw this strange description for the last day. I guess after all the time changes we'll have gone through on this trip, they figure we won't know what day it is when we actually get off the boat!

Day 15 – Disembarkation Day
On Saturday morning, arrive back in sunny Port Canaveral on Friday, content in the vacation memories that can only be had on a Disney cruise, where exquisite dining, unique entertainment and recreation, and legendary service seamlessly come together to create a family getaway unlike any other.

I would even give up other things to get one!!!!

Becky, check on page one of the thread.

Is anyone interested in doing a "share" for one of the cabanas on CC? Amanda and I are thinking about it but it too much money for just the two of us. Let me know :)
