Hi all, its been a good few months (oops) since I checked in here and I'm going to try to check in a bit more often now.

Mum and I did a trip around the north of Australia so that was taking up all my planning time so now I need to get a bit more serious about this trip.

In the next couple of weeks we need to finalise our itinerary so we can book our airfares and also our DVC.

Mum has family she might want to visit in the UK and possibly DH will do the same so we may all travel independently of each other and meet up in Barcelona a few days before. Mum also threw out the idea of going to DLP first too and realistically when traveling to the complete opposite side of the world one extra stop won't make much difference.

We also need to decide how long we need in Florida afterwards - probably a couple of weeks as we need to use up the rest of this years points and ideally all of next years as well.

I'm also guessing we may need to get "round the world" tickets which will probably be cheapest but not necessarily - its hard to tell and its gonna be a nightmare for our TA if we all go separately :rotfl2:

Oh decisions, decisions and to be fair Mum and DH will say "I don't mind" so I'll just have to tell them what, when and where.

We are also dithering over an idea of not going into the parks and instead maybe do Sea World/Universal and if the weather is nice the water parks, mini golf etc - in other words all the things we've said we'd do in the past but never actually done because we were in the parks. We'll see how that pans out...

Anyway I hope to not be away so long this time! ;)

Nice to meet you. Some of my family immigrated to New Zealand in the 1840's and now live in Dargaville, Hibiscus Coast and Mount Maunganui.

My grandfather who lived in the USA for over 70 years always remained a British citizen. We have stayed in close touch with our English and New Zealand families though we don't often see them in person.

John and I spent yesterday pouring over the Barcelona and Madeira books that I bought at our local bookstore. Keplers is this great bookstore in Menlo Park where you can sit in comfortable chairs for hours sipping tea and pouring over books which I always end up buying.

John is going to Barcelona in February for conference so he is going to check out transportation, hotels etc.

I think we are going to fly in on Wednesday and sightsee on Thursday and Friday. We have our hotel arrangements made, so now what it left is to decide what we places we want to visit in Barcelona

I am going to buy the Barcelona Card to get the museum discounts.

Yes, quite a lovely day making flight arrangements for DH to go to Helsinki and Tempere for Tuesday until Sunday. Then I worked on his trip to Barcelona in February 2010 for the Mobile World Congress

All hotel ressies for cruise both in Barcelona and Orlando are made. Now just waiting for DH's schedule to firm up for his flight in Sept and airlines to open bookings.

I am going to buy nr rt flights as they are still cheaper than one way flights to Barcelona by at least $1.5K

Ciao for now,

Noel

I have a question to ask. Where is everyone? I seem to see some of the same folks posting. It is almost like someone made a final boarding call and we missed it. Have that many people dropped out? Is there another thread that I missed? I am confused:confused3

I pop in and out I think because it is so far off it is hard to post right now. I posted alot at the beginning and now I pop in once and awhile but always read the post.

Think as we get closer more and more will be posting :)

I think more people will post nearer the time of the cruise - I just assume they have very busy lives - I have no idea if anyone has dropped out, apart from those who have posted to tell us. Once the cruise starts getting closer Im sure this thread will become very active with all the planning etc!

We are hoping to visit Park Guell - which has lots of Gaudi Architecture and looks really interesting:

also you might want to catch the Fountain of Montjuic one evening.

Happy Planning!

Has anyone given any thought as to where they will be eating in Barcelona before the cruise - I may be the saddest person on the planet to be thinking about this already, but DH and I have just discovered that there is a Hard Rock Cafe in Barcelona, and because it is a bit of a tradition thing for us to eat in the Hard Rock (following our Honeymoon Hard Rock visit) thats where we will be heading. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Anyone else crazy enough to be planning this far ahead?

Anyone else got any Barcelona restaurant recommendations?

Oh La Sagrada Familia is beautiful! Also try and take a trip down Las Rambles just to see the random entertainers they have down there. They were fun.

See now I feel completely unorganised! Still haven't sorted out hotels yet well at least for Barcelona! That's my job for this week! Did book the airport lounge in Heathrow though for flying out! - I know my priorities are a little weird with this one!

I don't know where everyone went! I'm starting to think I smell lol.

I know a few have dropped out but there are loads we haven't heard from in months! Hopefully come next year people will start reappearing!

Hey Sarah, we were going to eat at Hard Rock last time we went to Barcelona but the queue was out the door! Couldn't even get my guitar pin I wanted as the woman reckoned it was around 40 mins wait to get into the shop :scared1: Make sure you get there early!

I don't think you're crazy! I'm completely with you on this one! Plan plan plan!

:scared1::scared1: Oh no - we used to have some sort of priority seating thing with the HRC but I think it expired ....will have to get there early and hopefully we'll get in! I love the HRC - great food and no surprises - which is always a good thing when you are such a fussy eater as myself ;)
