HI everybody:goodvibes Some of you may remember me--other will have no idea who I am. I was on the thread a long while back. Our family moved to Germany andlife got too busy for me to keep up with two meet threads (especially becuase this one moves FAST) so I concentrated on the one for the cruise I took last month. Now I get to focus on the TA again:cheer2:

My name is Hadley. I will be sailing with DH David, DD13 Marika and DS11 Rio. We get to dine with some of the most fun people ever--Erik and Jason--I imagine Erik has been posting steadliy and you all know him by now. He handles most of the lanyards, but I play a small role in that too (more on that in a few days;)). We are super excited to do another TA (we did the first) and see many great friends as we sail.

I have not been reading along (sorry:flower3:). From this page alone I see there is a book swap (DD got a kindle for CHristmas so I think we can load it up and not need more:woohoo:) and a candy swap (I am all for that and will bring German chocolates--probably Ritter or Kinder). Anything else i NEED to know right now???:rotfl:

Hey Hadley! Welcome back. Erics been MIA a bit too so don't worry lol! You need to resign up on the website as its been taken over!

I have dole whip and ice cream cookie sandwich on my list for our one day in Magic Kingdom, but not sure if I could manage both in one day. I have never had either.

Chocolate in the UK .... our main brand is Cadbury, and we also have Galaxy, which is a bit creamier. Also we have more specialist chocolate sold by Thorntons and Hotel Chocolat. The slabs sold by Hotel Chocolat are out of this world:

Hotel chocolate rules! I've just made a Chilli Hot Chocolate from the stash I got off my boss in work for Christmas!

Oh do you have any must do ideas tips for Salzburg?
We have four days. We arrive <friday and have tickets for the Motzart dinner (I know it is totally touristy, but everything I have heard about it and my dad.s opinion is it is so well done so it will be our Good Friday treat). We will do a salt mine tour (Rio will ove it) and are planning to get Salzburg cards and seeing as much as we can but it will not be all so if you have tips on what to put as a top priority in your favourite city I would love to know:goodvibes

The salt mine tour was a lot of fun. They had us dress up in salt miner costumes. My favorite thing we did in Salzburg was the Sound of Music tour. But I love the Sound of Music movie. We even went to the church that Maria and the captain were married in. It was outside of Salzburg and the drive there was full of beautiful scenery. It always seemed like a big church to me in the movie, but it really isn't very big at all. We did a lot of shopping in the old part of town. It is just a beautiful city.

I always tell DH if I happen to die before he does I want my ashes scattered over the Alps...

I will be anxious to hear what you think of Salzburg! :)

Hey Guys!

Haven't been on in quite a while but I just booked my airfare & hotels & I am super excited!! :yay:

We saw that flights to Dublin were pretty cheap, so we figured we'd connect there... long, long story short...

we're flying into Dublin on Tues, staying till Fri!!! Then on Fri we're flying to Barcelona. The airfare was great! We got our flight from JFK to Dublin on Delta for $510 (actually $450 after skymiles use) and then the connection to Barcelona on Aer Lingus for a little less than $200. :woohoo: We'll be getting to Barcelona at 10am so we'll have a full day on friday & then the half a day on sat to tour. :woohoo:

As of now it looks like we're staying Friday night in Barcelona at Hotel Regina & we'll be going to a flemenco show, The Tablao de Carmen. :woohoo:

Sorry for all the details- I'm just super excited & HAD to share it with someone who would be as excited as me!! :grouphug:

It feels so close! :dance3:

Well guys, Mum,dad, len and ESP me were super excited about this cruise tonight, take care, will see you all post switzerland, Hadley glad to hear from you:goodvibes

Okay, I'm not certain but I think I just read 6 pages of this thread and they all referred to eating candy or reading books. . . and here I thought I might not fit in with this crowd:rotfl:

two of my favorite activities! I will definiely have paperbacks with me that will get left behind so might have to rig up a way to hang them outside cabin or perhaps we will all utilize Club Cove.

Candy and I are on great terms and would love to participate in that kind of exchange for sure.

Was/am a tad worried over luggage restrictions so was considering not doing FE since no kids along this cruise but it is just so stinkin fun. . think I will sign up if we are considering breaking it into smaller groups.

We had over 100 people with just 35 families on our week long cruise participate and it ended up being lots of extra luggage and weight. Totally fun times tho.

The DH is getting ready to bring up his time off he will need for the cruise at work so everyone keep your fingers crossed that it goes well!

I like this idea and would love to participate if we split into smaller groups if needed!

Krista

I am all for organizing (unless the person that was going to organize is still with us and wants the job...) I also agree that 100 cabin swaps is just not manageable!

I am all for groups of about 25 - does that work for everyone?

I cannot tell you how impressed we are with that Kindle. I told David I need one for Christmas next year:rotfl2:

I LOVE my kindle!! I took it last cruise and it was great - I was even able to grab a new book while in port one day! So, no book swap for me... :)

Count us in for the "smaller" groups too. That would make it easier for packing since the airlines are so restrictive about weight. We will be investing in a "fish" scale to weigh our luggage.

My tentative plan for right now will put me on the same plan to Barcelona on the Friday morning. If I book it I will keep an eye out for you.:wave2:

Look at where the wind be blowing me sails ....

Aye Mate's and swabbies , wenches and of course you pirate Princesses(and you know who you are...LOL )

Sorry its been awhile since me ship has sailed this way, but been dealing with alot of life changing events at the home port , but I am here to say that ye Captain should be still joining you come this september, Its still going to be awhile before I can get on this here forum thing regularly but me be crossing my fingers that the time will be soon.

Its good to see so many new crew mates and cant wait to meet everyone .... Please dont forget the DIS Pirates meet at Disneyland March 13th 2010 ....I dont have any details as I am slowly putting life back together ...

So remember , Drink up me hearties Yo Ho

and TAKE WHAT YOU CAN !!!!

Wow its been so long I dont have my banner anymore ....will have to work on that

pirate:

dude, it's been like half a year! I was sure wondering what was up and hoping everything was okay!
I'm glad to hear you guys will still be on this cruise.... and March 13th at DL huh? Well we MIGHT be up there around that time... I've been thinking real hard about making a trip (me and kids only cause DH's vacation time is gonna be used on the cruise! LOL) somewhere around that time..... and when I'm thinking hard like that- it usually happens.
I wants to see CaptainEO!

Is my banner still there? lemme see......

A note on books and Cove Cafe, they now have only brand new books that are on loan to cruisers, and CM are not allowed to borrow. Several times a day a CM will be in attendance to sign out books. There were about 25-30 titles, each having several copies, and it looked like most titles were what could be found on a bestsellers shelf at Borders etc.

On my Feb '09 cruise, we asked our stateroom host if the crew would be interested in our finished books, it was a resounding yes.

I also agree that 100 cabin swaps is just not manageable!

Groups of 25 sound great. You can plan now if you know how many things you are looking for. Sometimes you don't get a number until the very end because new people keep joining.

I had given up on the idea of fish extenders as well because of the pesky luggage limits. ( I even had a dream last night about overweight luggage!:scared1:) But I think I can leave a couple of paperbacks behind to fit in 25 fish extender gifts.

Kindle or other ebook: How do you go to Castaway Cay with a book? Don't you worry about leaving it or getting sand or water on it? Do you just bring a mixture of paperbacks and kindle?

I have an iphone with a kindle app, but just haven't gotten into reading on it. How different is reading on a kindle than reading on the iphone or touch?

I am wondering how Apple's rumored entry into the reading area will work. I think the rumored announcement date is by the end of the month so we will see how much that will cost and what it will do.:wizard:

I read almost exclusively on my ipod touch, for almost a year now. Actually if ever an ipod touch comes out in a 5-7" screen, that would be my first choice, I can dream right, lol. I do miss the feeling of moving through the pages of a book, but this has reduced the books in the house and reduce the reading cost/month, generally.

The new Apple "device" might be announced either January 26th or 27th, we have been told both dates, but my Apple rep has indicated that all stores and Apple resellers should have a demo unit on that date, this never happens for resellers, we are very excited.

Reading on the beach/near water, there are a couple of kindle specific waterproof cases or many users suggest a heavy weight ziplock baggie.

Yes, of course you can do both, your on vacation. Have the dole whip for breakfast, it has fruit and milk, well...kind of! And the cookie sandwich is sooo yummy you may need 2 for lunch!

We were in London July last year, Wish I had of known about the Hotel Chocolat, the caramel one like devine! We did love the macarons from Laduree in Harrods!

They look the same, And here I was thinking I'd thought of something cool to pop in the FE's! Lucky I have a few more idea's!;)

What about a book swap? I know that I'll be bringing a few books and will finish them quickly, esp with 6 sea days.

I'm definitely keen for a book swap too - I get through a lot on a cruise.

Yes, that's what I was thinking and the weight limit on BA will give me a problem. On the EB Panama we had over a 100 cabins and I had problems then when we were allowed 2 cases each on Virgin. If we had smaller groups, it would make it easier all round.

I think breaking it into smaller groups would be much easier. Whoever suggested lots of about 25 sounds like a great idea!

We bought a digital handheld luggage weight thing-ma-jig a few years back. If I can get it in Australia you guys can definately get one, we are so behind with cool gadgets. It's been very handy.

I generally get my paperbacks at the library book sale for 50 cents. So I don't think I can save much with ebook reader.

However, it would be convenient not to have to lug around paperbacks on an airplane. I will have to give the iphone app another chance to see if I can get used to it.

I had heard a rumor that the slate was going to be a touch on steroids, which I thought was promising; but then I heard that it was going to run $800 or more. :scared1:

Luckily, we have time before the trip to see how this all plays out! Keep us posted on the new device. I might have to head to the Apple Store in the mall on the date!

That sounds just about perfect and will keep the luggage space down :goodvibes
