Well guys, Mum,dad, len and ESP me were super excited about this cruise tonight, take care, will see you all post switzerland, Hadley glad to hear from you:goodvibes

Have a wonderful time in Switzerland Lynne :woohoo::woohoo:

My friend had me doing exercises to prepare me for skiing in work yesterday and my thighs are aching like crazy this morning :scared1:

Look forward to hearing all about it when you get back (and photos !!!)

I am all for organizing (unless the person that was going to organize is still with us and wants the job...) I also agree that 100 cabin swaps is just not manageable!

I am all for groups of about 25 - does that work for everyone?

25 sound like a good total. If this is the case, then I think I'll sign up.

Okay, I'm not certain but I think I just read 6 pages of this thread and they all referred to eating candy or reading books. . . and here I thought I might not fit in with this crowd:rotfl:

I think of this group being not so much like a puzzle, were all the pieces must fit in, but more like the Star Trek "Borg", were everyone will become part of the collective group. :)
two of my favorite activities! I will definiely have paperbacks with me that will get left behind so might have to rig up a way to hang them outside cabin or perhaps we will all utilize Club Cove.

I have to admit the reading is not one of my favorite activities. Unless, it is a technical manual :surfweb: Reading novels would be Candida's area of expertise. I have the eating part covered. On occasion i have been known to finish the meals of my team mates when they can't eat anymore. I'll admit that I have even gone to the point of having two complete meals in the time it took them to have one :scared1:

The DH is getting ready to bring up his time off he will need for the cruise at work so everyone keep your fingers crossed that it goes well!

Crossing fingers that all goes well. I was worried that someone would say something about me taking a month off, but it was approved. Just means that I don't have any vacation time until the cruise. Good thing I enjoy my work:thumbsup2

What the heck is the deal with the pricing on the EBTA? As of this morning cat 12s were pricing at $699pp!!! Wow do I wish I could swap my dates... Do any of you previous Transatlantic cruisers remember if this happened before on the westbound? Or was it just the eastbound that had trouble filling?

Hi all!!

We booked our hotel yesterday!!!! :yay::yay::yay:

I'm not sure who exactly mentioned the Praktik Rambla but thanks since this turned out to be a good deal! We booked 4 nights in a double for $595.00 and the location is great!! If anyone else is interested...
http://www.hotelpraktikrambla.com/en/hotel-in-barcelona

The plan is to book our airfare around Feb 1st since that's when I get paid again. Right now British Airways is about $570 each for a one way, do you think it will change much in the next 2 weeks?

Anyway, we are also in for the 25 people FE idea!! I'm in the US but I love AERO bars from the UK, especially the mint ones!!! I'll have to think of something clever to bring since Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were already mentioned.

I think the last question of the week was the last movie we saw:
In the theaters it was Avatar 3D on IMAX (good enough that we saw it again).
At home was 500 Days of Summer which I thought was well done and interesting but left me feeling annoyed. lol.

Have a good weekend!!!:goodvibes

I think 25 FE's would be great too. And I can do something special !
Note to self... all FE's done by 4 July :yay:

Yay! Sarah, how early are you guys getting in? We'll be there Tuesday night to Saturday morning.

Very late on the Thursday evening unfortunately .... but at least we have all of Friday to explore .... plus hopefully meeting up with others for a pre-cruise meet on the Friday evening :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

dude, it's been like half a year! I was sure wondering what was up and hoping everything was okay!
I'm glad to hear you guys will still be on this cruise.... and March 13th at DL huh? Well we MIGHT be up there around that time... I've been thinking real hard about making a trip (me and kids only cause DH's vacation time is gonna be used on the cruise! LOL) somewhere around that time..... and when I'm thinking hard like that- it usually happens.
I wants to see CaptainEO!

Is my banner still there? lemme see......

Hope to see you at DL

We're planning on coming in Thursday afternoon, so plan to check in to the hotel then do some wandering, maybe see the fountains, and eat something before crashing due to time changes.

Friday I think we will hit the highlights, and save something smallish for Saturday morning, before heading to the cruise terminal. I think we will resist the temptation to get to the ship first thing as we won't be wanting an upgrade (connecting rooms planned) and I think I would rather optimize our Barcelona time - but we'll see!

I'd love to participate in a pre-cruise meet Friday night.

I would also vote for smaller FE groups - and would love to participate.

Going to book our flights shortly - likely next week. Looks like we'll be coming in on BA to Heathrow, then on to Barcelona. There is a direct flight from Toronto, but we can't book anything one-way and the cost for the return is too much (about $300pp than the one-way BA). It is so reasonable for us ($550 CAD including tax) that I don't want to miss the chance to book. Does anyone know what BA is like for transcontinental flights? I'd love to hear what others are doing for flights from our neck of the woods (Ontario, New York state).

Groups of 25 sound great. You can plan now if you know how many things you are looking for. Sometimes you don't get a number until the very end because new people keep joining.

I had given up on the idea of fish extenders as well because of the pesky luggage limits. ( I even had a dream last night about overweight luggage!:scared1:) But I think I can leave a couple of paperbacks behind to fit in 25 fish extender gifts.

Kindle or other ebook: How do you go to Castaway Cay with a book? Don't you worry about leaving it or getting sand or water on it? Do you just bring a mixture of paperbacks and kindle?

I have an iphone with a kindle app, but just haven't gotten into reading on it. How different is reading on a kindle than reading on the iphone or touch?

I am wondering how Apple's rumored entry into the reading area will work. I think the rumored announcement date is by the end of the month so we will see how much that will cost and what it will do.:wizard:

I had good intentions of reading everywhere, and got a silicone cover for mine. (I have the DX). I also got a bag that would hold it, a charger and a light. I had to be preparred! Then at the last minute I saw a waterproof cover and got that... I tried it, hated it and went back to the silicone cover and the bag.

However, when at CC, I just put it into my tote bag and off we went. I do have to admit that I didn't read on CC... I snorkled, played in the water, walked, snorkled again and got really sunburned while in the water...

I think I am nieve... I brought the kindle to the pool (all three) and would walk away leaving it on my chair. It was always there when I got back. I didn't leave for more than 15 - 30 minutes, but that would be long enough for someone to pick it up... Note to self, don't be careless with the kindle...

I also have the kindle app for my touch. You turn more pages on the touch, but it is easy to use. I didn't have the touch for our last cruise, but will for the upcoming one. I am loading it with movies for the little one so she can stay occupied on the plane. DS has a touch and I will have to get the kindle app on it for him so he can read as well as watch movies. DH isn't a big reader, so while he has access to my kindle library he doesn't use it. I was actually shocked that he put the app on his iPhone.

35 weeks to go !!!!!!!

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Happy-happy-happy dance!!!!!
:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

I can't wait. It was cold and icy in Atlanta last week. It is looking to be cold and rainy in Atlanta this week. I have to go on a business trip to manhattan Mon - Wed and the weather there is slated for cold and rain...

I really want to whip ahead to May... Well, maybe June so I can book excursions, etc...

Ok, so no one claimed FE as theirs, so it is mine, all mine!!! pirate: And I way want smaller groups! I want to try and make something, and making 100 of anything would just be too daunting! So groups of 25 it is. :woohoo:

Here is the plan... Sign up if interested. Encourage people not on the meet thread to join and sign up! (:welcome:) Come March 1st. I will start dividing people up. I will put 25 cabins to a group :grouphug: and assign a color to the group. I won't do less than 10 in a group. So, if we have 50 people we will have two groups; 63 people will be 2 groups of 25 and a group of 13. As I get groups of 25 cabins solidified, I will close the group and send the info out to the people involved. If we get to June 1st and we have our groups of 25 and a small group of less than 10 I will ladd them across the groups of 25. :stir: Hopefully this wont be too painful for the groups that were closed off early. Around June 10th all of the groups will be announced. :smickey:

Anyone that signs up before June 1 will be automatically in a group. :cheer2: Anyone that signs up after June 1 will be wait listed. I haven't figured out wait listing at this point - but think that it will be that people that sign up in June will be in a group and then July and August will be a group. If those groups go above 25 then I will break them up following the same set of 'rules' as I did for the early groups. If we only get a handful of people that sign up after June 1, we will have to revisit and see if they can be absorbed into another group. :confused3

Now, I haven't done a FE exchange before so this could sound like I am high on something (only on life, I promise - I haven't even had a glass of wine as yet...:hippie:). Please - if what I am planning is a bad idea, please speak up!!!

Oh - I know we have a couple of people that are in room mate situations and that there will be 2 FE's to those cabins. Please, if you are in that situation, when you sign up drop me a PM. Also let me know if you want to be grouped in the same color grouping as your roomies!

How do we sign up? It just by indicating "yes" to the Fish Extenders prompt on the Roll Call ?

:cutie:

Yep - it is that easy!!!

If you already signed up, go in and edit your roll call. You should have picked a password when you signed up. If you didn't use Mickey (go figure...)
