Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

I'm going crazy! I've posted abt this on the big board. I have been checking Hotwire to see if I can get a better rate on the MCO Hyatt, but you don't REALLY know what hotel you are getting...

Anyway, I think it's the Hyatt at $61 per night. (I have it reserved for $159.) I really, really, really want to stay there, but...I'd be dancin' if I could get it for a deal like that. I feel like I'm in Vegas! I refuse to gamble there, but I'm waaaaaaaaay on the fence on this. DH probably won't make a fuss either way. We get in at like 9:30pm so the Hyatt would be nice... Of course a good friend has a condo within 5 minutes from the Port that she's offered, so maybe I'm totally crazy, but that seemed like a lot more of a hassel than the Hyatt. It is, after all, my vacation. OH! this is killing me. I know you understand...

Good morning everyone,
Jen, sorry you had such an aweful time. I would have been in a worse mood than you about it as I don't really care for the outdoors that much. Bugs, heat, etc. Yuck. As for the orginial design idea for the buttons, why not still do the flip flops, but make them polka dot and sneak a hidden mickey in there in the polka dots.

I'm still in for the first flip flop t shirt.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Later,
Emily

Jen, sorry to hear you had such a bad time, I know that made for one ugly weekend :sad2: Hope everything else is smooth sailing ahead!!

We have the BEST group :cheer2:

So when do we pack????? :wave2:

Just kidding..I know patience...patience

I got it! I got it! I was so nervous about it b/c I soooo wanted the Hyatt and was willing to pay rack rate -- but it was just too tempting to get it for $61.00. Yeeeeeee Haaaaaaaaaa! Must be a good omen, right?

Good luck, John. I sent you a PM. Let us know how you make out.

Jen, sorry it sucked. I know my such days are coming...

Wendy,

congrats on the Hyatt rate! That's fun and makes the trip seem even better.

I'm sorry - who's John? :confused3

hi everyone,

Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates - as Wendy said. It is very hot at the moment 40 centigrade plus (sorry i don't know the conversion) and will get hotter over summer, but is nice in winter mid 20's (i think that is 70's to you?). it is a good place with a hugh expat community.
it is on the edge of the desert. has more construction going on than i ever thought was possible, they say the national flower is the construction crane.
is a nice mix of the modern and the old where you can see arab men and women in traditionl robes - including the full black for the women and men with "teatowel" hats, and expat women in the latest skimpy fashions.
it is a very safe place as they are building up a reputation for tourism, shopping and a safe havern for businesses in the middle east.
they have the only seven star hotel in the world - the Burg Al Arab which is the one in the photo. i am told it is beautiful but have only seen it from the outside as there is a sizeable charge to go in.

we have only been here a short while. DH since late october, me and the kids a only 2 months. before that we were in singapore for six years. however australia is home.
between singapore and dubai i went home to australia to have Lilly.

our family is:
me stay at home mum (used to be "expat wife" which sounds so much more glamourous and before that i was a flight instructor/charter pilot) age well just 36 - should of asked last week then that would have sounded better too
DH Chris is a pilot with emirates airlines (which is why we are in Dubai) 33 :smooth:
DS Nick at 2 years 7 mths is a full time car/train/plane enthusiast and bouncing with endless energy. :bounce:
DD Lilly is 4 month and loves to eat, sleep, cuddle and smile. :love2:

oh and Jen i think you have ensured i will not be volunteering for and scout/guide camps. i'm sorry you had such a bad time. :teeth:

 Everyone...I hope I remember everything, as I forgot to open the second browser :sad2: I'll try my best..

Jen, sorry to hear about your weekend..I am being bugged continuously by friends to try camping for a weekend, and am so NOT interested..I am totally the big city chick...Funny thing, I was born and raised until 5 in the country, maybe that is why.. :confused3 But, you are home safe and sound, and that is a good thing..your comment about the taxi driver is sooooo funny, funny but true.. :flower:

Wendy, I am a native Montrealer..Born in the outskirts (country) and moved here to the HUGE city at 5...LOVE IT LOVE IT...This city is amazing, and constantly moving and grooving with people..Especially now.We have the most festivals than anywhere in the world...Fun times here in the summer..Jazz festival (international), Comedy festival, fireworks(also international), films, and many more..Of course as a busy lady (aren't we all, even Brad..lol) I do not see tooo many...BUt yes I speak french fluently, but am not a native Quebecer..THe nationality is a HUGE issue here to some (not me) and they pick about it..I am proud of where I live, we really have no options but to speak French..Both children are in an English school, with a totally French program until grade 3, where they begin one day english, one day french..Hope I am not boring you with this info....

To everyone else who is so SWEET :grouphug: :love2: to you...

My children sound like carbon copies of Jen's..especially my dd6 (Briana), my ds9(Sammy) is mr..football..and ps2...DId I mention he is the starting quarterback this year?????? Sorry, just a proud Mom moment..My son was born with a club foot and always has be worrying...So, it makes it even more sweet to see him out there in his cleats...

Michelle, that sounds so very interesting...Must be hard on you all, but what an education those children will have.. :flower:

Jenny, thanks for the kind words, Missy too, Sue too..OH god, why did I start with the names, now I am petrified to forget someone.. :scared1:

Emily you are always sweet, Trish as well....Christal, I will let you all know firsthand, and then we can all :bounce: together if and when we pay it off....

I love you all, and want each and everyone to know that YOU ALL have helped me enormously on this hard road....I have new friends, and you all are darlings... :love2: :grouphug:

Sherrie...Well, here is DOUBLE pixie dust :wizard: :wizard: ...One for continued support through your tough times, and the other that things work out for you to join us...And one of these guys too :goodvibes , just because he's cute! :flower:

Keep keepin' on! :grouphug:
-Christal

Tea for Wendy how did you get the Hyatt for $61.00?? :confused3

Hotwire. I'd been checking it, matching up with how the Hyatt has been described in the past on Hotwire. So, last night I thought I found it and it was $95. I almost booked. Then, it went down to $63 then $61 and I called and booked -- was sooo excited when it was the Hyatt b/c it might have been something else. Anyway, John from our cruise "jcmconnell" was watching what I was doing and he got the Hyatt right after me for $62.

Tammy, I just checked Hotwire and the "hotel" that I selected that ended up being the Hyatt is still listed at $61. That doesn't mean for sure it's the Hyatt, but I think you have a really good chance.

Wendy, I am still in shock about our good fortune to get the Hyatt at MCO for a 1/3 of the cost on HOTWIRE. Thanks again for replying so quickly to my PM -- your kindness certainly helped spread the Magic and helped me save some money that I will quickly turn around and give back to DCL on CC Cabana massages.

JMC,

I am sorry I didn't recognize the name when Wendy mentioned it earlier today! I did immediately recognize your DIS name. I hope I didn't offend!

Apologies!

Good Morning everyone. We booked the Hyatt at MCO last night on Hotwire. 6 adults, 5 kids, 3 rooms.........grand total (with taxes and fees) around $210!! Thank you Wendy and John for the tips. Since we don't fly in until 10p.m. after working all day it seems way more logical to drop our bodies right there in the airport, so we are thrilled!! WWWOOOOOHOOOO

I need to go through my cruise file and clean it out.......this must mean we are getting close!

Have a great day,
Missy

Congratulations you three! It is always fun to find a deal! :cool1:

I have updated our cruise family list and put every bit of pertinant info I could think of in it (so we don't have to reread everytime we want to know something). Hopefully, I didn't include to much. Anyone who wants a copy, let me know.

I have, also, used Jenny's(?)/Sue's(?) idea and drawn out flip flops with the hidden mickey on them. I still haven't given up on the idea of using that shop on line to get our shirts/pins whatever from....not only would Nana be happy, but it seems easier and would save us from screwing up a couple before we got it right (as I have). Also, we could order whatever we want...for those who have already bought t-shirts, I sould still just send you an iron on. What do you think? Do you think there wil be copyright issues?

I just can't figure out, and Jenny, you could probably help me here, how to upload the pic on the site (go that), then how to put words on it (don't have that). I can't get the word art to trans to anything. How did you do it?

Today is a crazy day. It gives the job of taxi cab a new meaning. At 3:30, 4:00, 4:20, 5:00, 5:20, 5:40, 7:00, and 7:40. I either have to pick up or drop off kids somewhere. I don't know how I will do it....atleast gas is cheap :earseek: But first, I'm getting a massage  :cool1: .
Have a good day!

Wendy, thanks for the help :goodvibes ...
I was in the process of booking and then :rotfl2: I realized we don't need to be at the airport!! We're driving.. :moped: so I ended up booking the Radisson Resort just a few minutes from the pier :goodvibes and hotel will transport us to ship and then back after cruise  for free, plus leave our vehicle's at no charge 5 adults 1 child $105.00.  So we figured to cut out the drive on the day of cruise :boat: and begin our vacation a little earlier to ......go for it. :cheer2:

John, Missy, yay for us! I'm still totally excited abt it. Missy - sounds like you got a rate lower even than $61 b/c my all-in total was $74.95. I saved $100! Yee Haa.

Tammy, sounds like your plan is a good one too!

Jen, I don't know how you do it?!

I vote for the let's do a design that we don't have copyright issues with and order from that sight. It just seems much easier. I always save my receipts -- so returning T's isn't a problem. Plus, DD can always use a $3 white T!

Wendy I agree..Jen don't make yourself go crazy over this, everyone can use an extra T or return them :cool1:
