Like Lynne I am catching up reading the thread! You guys all sound fun and enjoying the boards. :)

Booked airfare to London from SFO. Never been so that's where we will be for our anniversary!! I'll take all hints and recommendations:worship:

You should have a great Anniversary in London. How many days are you there?

Might I suggest you drop a quick PM to Michael (mdwoodman) who was the last years organizer of the Hard Rock Cafe meet in Barcelona? If you can get the details about how he planned the meet it might be helpful.

I think I should wait to add this meet to be sure it is possible or do you just want me to add it? Please let me know.

Michael was able to get us the room / drinks discount as he has a family member who works for the company. Unless anyone else has that sort of a connection it is doubtful whether we could do that again. However, a group of us can still meet up at the Hard Rock for drinks etc anyways so I would just add it to the post. Ovviously if the group got really big we could contact the HRC and see what they can do .. but at the moment there are only a few of us on the list.

Tod&Copper - We are flying from Heathrow on the first flight (0620). What time do you arrive Barcelona? Perhaps we can share a taxi which was €50 from BCN to Cruise port this past Jan for 4 ppl and luggage.....

GoofPrincess - What are you looking to do? I can give you some tips if you would like. :)

Dan

Hi Dan

Happily share a taxi with you. You would have to wait for us to land at 10:10. It's up to you ?

thats about 40 min later. Might be worth it. Lets chat closer to the date who knows how schedules will change etc.

looking forward to meeting you two either way.

No probs, our flights changed to earlier last year, so you never know.

We can compare times in august-ish. Looking forward to meeting you too

Thanks for the clarification. We do not think we will be able to join in this year as we will be driving from France!!

Sarah--I met you on the EBTA last year. I was on Shoshie's trivia team and we tied with your family:rolleyes1

I'm game for the HRC preparty!

We head to Disneyland this weekend. DH will drive south and I will fly in. I am glad to not have to sit in the car through LA traffic:yay:

Still reading and catching up:surfweb:

My preference is always to fly to Los Angeles if at all possible. If I am going to DL, I prefer to fly to Ontario if I can as I can often get cheaper flights and the drive is not too far for me. I know lots of people prefer to fly into John Wayne but not me!!

When I ever I get to Los Angeles, I my drive skills change and I become a lot more tense!!

Have fun at DL!!

Hi Sandy
I remember you now .... I lost out to Shoshie on the age question ... but it was the halloween 2008 cruise and not the EBTA as I wasn't on that one !!

That's a shame, and we will miss you, but you will enjoy driving through France, it is beautiful scenery. Are you going to be visiting Disneyland Paris?

Actually it will be a mad dash from Papenburg through Dijon since we are going to do a tour of the Fantasy as the shipyard.

Re: the dolphin excursion in Gibraltar:

I have enquired about accessibility and unfortunately the boat is not accessible for wheelchairs. There are 2 steps to get up onto the boat.

Thanks for getting back on this so quickly! :thumbsup2 I kinda was expecting this answer, but it never hurts to ask and make sure.

Well, it looks like I will be canceling through our current TA and rebooking with DU. I emailed them this morning and have already been incredibly responsive - plus we would get their $200 OBC plus the $50 Disney Visa OBC. Every little bit helps!

Once she gets all of our arrangements exactly as we had them before, I'll be canceling through our other TA. I sort of feel bad about it - but I guess this is "just business" - right?

IMHO? You need to look out for yourself first, or nobody else will. In your case it's about OBC (and obviously not just getting that higher by paying a higher fare :rotfl2: ). If you feel bad, you could discuss it with current TA. But I think you already did, didn't you? I find a good TA will at very least explain to you why they can not match an other TA's OBC in case they can't or for instance can not get you a certain discount, or math the OBC (as much as possible) you would've gotten with the second TA you're looking at. Might not be that good of a business for TA1, but for them it also is kind of a game/gable and it all comes down to how much OBC your business is worth and they can afford. I've had our 2009 TA do this. Booked with her and along the time stumbled upon another offer for something like $150,- more OBC. So I did mention it in an email and asking what TA could do for me. Reply; got the OBC matched but also info that this would be it, more would not be doable for said TA. OK, we can deal with that. ;)

This year? Had a booking through DU but then the EU-discount came out. Apparently DU can't book that. Haven't even considered feeling bad for them. I'm sorry, but I'ld rather take the $800+ lower price and loose DU and their $200,- OBC.

In the end you are the customer and have the power and right to decide. Would you rather vote with your pocketbook or would you rather pay more to prevent yourself from feeling any possible non favorable emotions. You've seem to have decided the first and there's nothing wrong with that. You have a good feeling with DU. Are getting more OBC in return. Just think about what you could do with that aboard. Keep focussing on that. ;)

We will drive about 8 hours to Dijon and then about another 8 to the Barcelona airport where we drop off the car.

Our friends who live in Europe say this is a doable drive on major highways.

It is. :) It's amazing how many people will make the drive from Northern and/or Western Europe to the Meds in the summer. The hundreds of kilometers of trafficjams on the highways during "black saterdays" are a small indication of the huge amounts. It is a very doable drive. I actually think you guys from places like the US, Australia and other large (huge  ) countries have a bit of a benefit. As far as I can see, you are more used to long distance drivings, where as we are spoiled little brats on this subject. Now long flights, that's a different subject. :lmao:

We will be there five days total. So excited to see another country and one where I understand the language:)

I think you were on the PC cruise with us but never got to meet you did I?

As far as the beer, wine, etc, tastings, couldn't we just get together at the ones DCL already has scheduled? I know on our 4-nighter they had beer, wine, mojito (or maybe it was margaritas) and martini tastings. Would that work, if we can't book private tastings, or is the seating too limited?

I'm doing the same thing. I puttered around a bit too long to get the Expedia sale. But you're totally right, every little bit extra OBC helps.
