*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

I was planning on keeping a note of the room #'s inside my cabin too, just incase some one did rub it off, i'll still have a copy & can write them back on. :thumbsup2

Do you want me to still keep a list? I need to have to check off who picks up their pins and lanyards. I could just a column with room number.

If you can capture just the GTY's that would be great.

I could take it at the end of the meet and write them on my whiteboard and cross check them off my list.

I will try to figure out a way to do this.

How long are you in Paris? And where do you stay.
We use the mobilis for a day. It is much cheaper and you can do zone 1-2 with Metro, Rer and bus unlimited for one day for 6,30 euro per day per person. You can buy this on every metrostation.
There is also the paris visite card for 1 day, or 2, 3 or 5 days.
A one day pass cost 9,30 euro for zone 1-3.

Here a link to RATP cards for one day.

http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/c_21193/titres-pour-1-journee/

The most attraction of Paris you can find in zone 1.
Only Disneyland Paris, Versailles, and the airports are in zones much further.

Have much fun in Paris. I love that city. And it seems a great adventure to go by train from Paris to Barcelona.

I echo a all this advice, the Parisvisit pass only really makes sense if you are going to the specific attractions it covers, chances are you won't be so go for the Moblis pass.

Paris is so beautiful you won't go wrong doing anything, dont miss the Eiffel light show at night, get to Notre Dame early, I don't bother climbing the stairs, and have plenty of time to wander the streets of Monmatre, yes it's a tourist trap but still retains a charm all of it's own.

Now the next bit of news isn't quite so good......BUT remember i'm just the messenger so don't shoot me! ;)

I am collecting names & room #'s for the Champagne Girls so I asked my contact what information she needs for those that still have a GTY status and her reply was those that have GTY at this late stage are unlikely to get a cabin number until they check in at the port. :guilty: I know some of you had kind of assumed that anyway but for those that were still hoping, it really doesn't seem too promising.....Sorry. :sad1:

I guess we need to come up with an efficient way of collecting & circulating these cabin numbers asap. Maybe it would be an idea to have a separate list of those that are taking part in the FE, Secret Mickey, Scrapbook Exchange & the Candy Swap. I am willing to keep the list. People can notify me at either in the Port, 3pm Promenade Lounge meet, Deck 10 Sailaway gathering, write it on my white board room 6507 or call my room & leave a message. Providing everyone notifies me on the first day, I will make sure that all the missing cabin #'s are on my whiteboard for everyone to see from the next day onwards, so you can just stop by and make a note of the one's you need at a time convenient to you.

How does this sound??? If everyone agrees then I suggest all those that are still GTY please PM me and i'll get the list started.

Well, I guess it will be a surprise we can look forward to. Kind of like not finding out the sex of your baby before you give birth!

Either last night or this morning I checked online and they had VGTs back for sale!! But today they are gone, and the prices have gone up. I could see if this was a cruise that ends where it begins, but it is a little hard to imagine someone taking a one-way cruise with all that entails (i.e. airfare there or back) at this late date.

I can give my room info to Noel when we get lanyards and put it on the white board of rm 6507 ? I believe it is?

I will also be online during the cruise, so we can keep in touch with DH, so I may even post on here!

Hopefully this is a little bright news for you cabana peeps! USAtoday says "The storm also closed Disney Cruise Line's Castaway Cay, but damage was minimal. Dream will change its itinerary, rescheduling a Tuesday stop until Wednesday, giving crews an extra day to freshen up the popular call."

Whether the journalist is referring to the statement put out by DCL in previous reports, or this is new news, it is unclear... but still happy!

Oh boy, I hope that is true!! :goodvibes

What's on the TOP TEN list of things you DON'T want to hear right before a vacation??

DH asked me this morning, "Honey, what did your APPENDICITIS feel like?"

Please send some fairy dust this way as we wait to see what progresses. . .

Also sending well wishes to little Harley and, oh Margaret--you have cracked me up this morning picturing you with dresses bunched up on a little kitchen scale!

Oh no, that would be horrible!! Hope it is just an upset stomach!!!

Get well Harley!

At the top of the page, there should be a "edit settings" button. click on it, and uncheck email notifications

Hi Karen,

I can imagine that you got a lot - today was very busy on there...lots of fun! :dance3:
Here's how to fix your email settings!

In the upper right hand corner, click "Account"
In the drop down menu, click "Account settings"
On the upper left hand corner, click "Notifications"
Under All notifications, beside "Groups" click "edit"
Toward the bottom of that gray box, click on "Change email settings for individual groups"
Uncheck "Disney Magic WBTA"
Click "Save"

Voila! You will receive no more email notifications from that group. :thumbsup2

I second this! We usually get a carnet (car-nay) of tickets which are 10 tickets at a reduced price that can be used for Metro, bus, RER within certain zones. Also the Mobilis is good.

The Eiffel Tower at night :cloud9: is possibly my favorite thing to do...on the hour after dark, the tower sparkles for 10 minutes. It is absolutely beautiful. Go a little early and take a bottle of wine and some wine glasses...Ahhhhhh!
Also, a night river cruise is just amazing. The buildings are lit so beautifully, and if you are lucky you will have a young Frenchman giving the tour... <puuurrrrrrrrr> LOL! Bring a wrap, it can get a little chilly. :)

Yes it was a lot of fun getting to know people a little better, but thanks for letting me know how to relieve our mailbox of all that email, you're a life saver :goodvibes

I also turned off my fb email notifications for the group - we are just too chatty!

Making shrimp in a white wine cream sauce w/ pasta tonight. Won't it be nice to not have a hand in making meals for two weeks!! :cloud9:

Gosh, I could barely see past the first paragraph due to the tears ;). We're fine with whatever system seems to work the best.

Hopefully, they'll knock off the silliness and just assign the cabins already. I mean, it's not like we got the deal of the century and deserve to be treated like ...... We booked early (actually booked on last year's EB but then canceled and rebooked for the GTY rate), paid in full at time of reservation, and we're just darned nice people :lmao:! The GTY rates aren't any better than the same GTYs on previous TAs; DCL just invented a new category to give them more control.

OK, that's the last whine you'll hear from me :rolleyes1

I don't think BA measures hand baggage like the budget airlines but if it is a soft bag you can kind of squash it down.;)

They do have a thing you have to put your bag into to check it is the appropriate size. Not sure if they stick to it like glue though. Personally I would go on the side of caution and get a bag within the accepted dimensions, because it would be a nightmare if they wouldn't let you take your bag. Haven't flown with BA though since they made all the strict guildelines about luggage so maybe someone else who flies with them could be more helpful.

If your bag is flexible and can be squashed down that extra 2-3" then i'm sure you'll be ok but if it is a hard sided case then I would not risk it as BA can be fairly strict.

I'm still catching up on this weekend's activity, yesterday was Dad's Birthday Lunch. But I wanted to make sure to thank everyone for their suggestions about BA and too tall luggage. I found a shorter bag at my parents house, so that will make the trip in the overhead bin instead.

Oh, I hope not!! Well wishes back at you for something simple like indigestion!

Thanks, again for all the good wishes for Harley.

Talking to my parents about the vet visit was confusing at best. As near as I can tell, the vet gave Harley another shot of something to loosen up whatever is stuck in his intestine (or bowel; not clear on that). They're supposed to be giving him chicken broth to help move whatever is stuck and also so that they can get a urine sample (not clear on what that's for either). My DB and SIL were over there, yammering away about what may or may not be wrong with him, how my mom should've made some homemade chicken broth for him rather than buying it at the store, blah, blah, blah. Their such experts when it comes to veterinary medicine - and everything else. (Major sarcasm there.)

He did eat some of the broth, and was showing some interest in his toys, so that may be a good sign.

I am bringing a portable printer so maybe I can make a signup sheet for those who don't have cabin numbers so they can tell us their stateroom numbers. I hoping to do a telephone tree so we call each other so maybe that will help as well.

My only concern about the whiteboard is sometimes people erase things thinking it is "funny".

Just my thoughts..

I was going to suggest just posting a page on Claire's door with DIS names of the GTY people and a space for room numbers. That way, they could write their room numbers on that and you wouldn't have to be concerned about it getting erased. It would also save Claire the trouble of having to rewrite everything on the whiteboard. If Noel took the list to the Promenade meet, people could put their cabin numbers on it when they pick up their lanyards. Anyone who doesn't make it to the meet can go by Claire's room to take care of that. Then we can just go by at our convenience and copy the numbers on our FE lists or Candy swap lists, or whatever else we might need it for.

Of course, a backup copy would be a good idea, just in case the list goes astray.

Noel, I've got my list sorted by room number, so I could create a table or spreadsheet page with just the GTY's, if it would be helpful to you. I don't have everyone, so I'd need someone to crosscheck the list for me. Let me know if I can help with this.

I'm no vet but that does sound like a good sign! I hope he continues to improve. A blockage in the bowel (or intestine!) can't be too much fun for the poor little guy.

Okay, just saw this on another post. The good news is, it won't apply to us on this cruise, unless they enforce it mid-cruise...

http://m.examiner.com/examiner/pm_60874/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=1i9lMvun

And not an hour ago I was telling someone how great Disney is because you can bring on as much liquor as you want!!

I'd want to confirm this w/ another source, but even if they do make a new rule, enforcement is a whole other issue. Holland America has this rule also, but we've brought on more wine than "allowed" in the past.

Question from a lost Diser;

I have to confess that I am so busy at work that I have only been able to memorize a few board names, and almost no real names.

When the directions on how and who to notify when GTY rooms are assigned can someone please include room numbers to notify. I believe at this point, 6507 is the room to notify of a GTY or upgrade. But, I have not read every post so I may be a little behind the discussion.

We just don't want to miss out on the fun, meets, etc.

Thanks and cannot wait to meet everyone.

If you can send me your entire list with all room numbers and GTY's it would be great! That way could compare to what I have.

Looks like another flare-up in the tropics - we should have another named tropical storm by tomorrow AM. It's a long ways off, but models show it getting really close to the east coast again - next Wed/Thurs/Fri when everyone is trying to get out of dodge! :scared1:
