*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

Ha ha - you are so funny! :goodvibes Seriously, GTY status with no assignment yet, so I figured the room number would get hand written.

Ha, ha I didn't realize that you have also GTY. I have 4 point on my traveling magnet and hope that the cabin numbers are in time. But we leave sept. 8th in the afternoon, so then we shall have them.....??!!

But are have one for yourself? Or do you give them away.

Actually, I was thinking DCL appears, based on this menu to be in the middle of the road for drink prices on cruise ships. NCL was much more expensive and HAL has a bit more variety. In St. Louis are mixed drinks cheap? ;) I know in northern VA--where we live when we are not in Skopje--$5.75 for a rum and coke or even a regular margarita is a steal! :goodvibes

Does anyone know if DCL does drink specials? Like drinks of the day and such?

Amanda

Mixed drinks are middle of the road here, and I think that the mixed drinks on the ship are what you would expect. Bottled beer and sparkling wine is what stood out to me. Well prices and most wine by the glass falls in line with what I expected.

I think the beer threw me off because, you'll remember that STL is home of the world's largest brewer. It's like water around here - abundant and dirt cheap! :)

Hope everyone is ok! Sounds scary.

On a positive note I've eventually finished my FE for the Candy Swap, it's taken me ages to do. As promised I would post a photo of it.

I was at work talking to a woman who lives in Granville Co (north of Raleigh, closer to Va) and she said, "That is weird, my porch just started shaking" and 2 seconds later I felt the ground underneath my office chair shake" Everyone in the office just assumed they were doing some work somewhere in the building, but I said, "I think that is an earthquake!!" mainly because of what the woman had said. It was a very surreal experience - I know there is a fault in the midwest, but I didn't realize there was one in Va. People in California probably wouldn't have even noticed it!

My brother in OH and my sister in upstate NY also said they felt it. My sister, who lives in Alexandria, Va, said she could see the floor moving and her first thought was that there had been a bomb somewhere in DC. Plaster was falling off the walls and they evacuated her building (she works for the IRS and they are always afraid of attacks). She said that while they were going down the stairs people coming down from the higher floors kept yelling - "Hurry, Hurry!" Her 11 year old daughter was at work with her and my sister said it was really scary.

And of course we're supposed to get hit with Irene this weekend. Funniest thing I someone say heard: "Earthquake on Tuesday; Hurricane on Saturday!"

I hope it fizzles out too! We need the rain buy don't want a hurricane!

Did you feel the earthquake? I didn't because I was on the road coming back from lunch.....but we've been getting calls like crazy from people wanting to know what all those tremors were from.

Here's some extra help pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: to ward off any hurricanes for the next couple of weeks so our cruise will be just perfect!

Hope everyone is ok! Sounds scary.

Michelle your FE turned out really well. It's fab!!!

So, several of these were out there during the WBTA, but it sounds like they were able to sail around them. At least Irene is getting herself over with this week, instead of two weeks from now.

But here's a little more Fairy Godmother magic for no storms and smooth sailing. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

On last year's WBTA we nearly never got into CC on the last day due to a storm, luckily we got in and had a beautiful day. The captain did well steering us away from it on the last sea day

Here's some more pixie dust for the same glorious weather and the calm Atlantic the same as last year pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

They do have drinks of the day - it is posted on each day's Navigator. Don't know if the price changes; never bought one.

I probably won't do one myself. Just made to give away (and to have some fun with graphics - good for the brain and heart).

I've made peace with not knowing my cabin #; they could tell me at check-in and I'd think it made a good story to tell, how I had to wait until I got on the ship to find out. Anything they assign me will be good on the Magic.

ARe those menus recent? I thought someone said a while back that they are old - but if these are the current prices, I think they're pretty good for a cruiseship!

They do a drink of the day - an alcoholic and a non-alcoholic, its listed on the navigator, but oddly the price isn't so I can't tell you if its a better price.

Hope everyone over there is ok after that earthquake and no one has sustained any damage :hug::hug:

What with earthquakes and impending hurricanes .... I wish mother nature would quieten down for a few weeks :wizard::wizard::wizard:

Didn't feel the earthquake - I think we are too far from it...I'm glad though, that would really, really frighten me. :scared1: Glad you are okay!

I'm adding some extra help from my end pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: to help ward off any crazy weather. Positive thoughts :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes for perfect cruise weather!

Michelle, that is Super Cute!!! :thumbsup2 You did a really nice job! :)

I have seen the movie and read the book The Help - and now I find out it is a Disney movie so it might be on the cruise!!! I will see it again but I could have skipped paying $45 for all of us to go to the movies and get popcorn had I known!!!

Yup, now it will only cost you the price of a cruise! :rotfl2:

Did anyone else around here (NC and VA) feel that? So weird, I have never felt an earthquake before, not even in all my visits to California!

Totally felt it in Maryland (less than 100 miles from the epicenter). Shelves swaying, floor "bouncing,' etc. No real damage though. The funny thing is we had customers visiting from California!

Candy Swap - everyone have fun with this - we had to drop out when I went into the hospital with undiagnoised diabetes when my sugar was 591 - I am happy to say I am doing much better - even eating some candy - my children were the most disappointed, but I will get them some things as we go. If anyone has extras - I will be glad to exchange with you, even though I am not on the official list anymore.

i've added you to my candy swap distribution list so you guys will definately get some from me and gary :thumbsup2

Check page 1 - if not on Thread 6, go back to Thread 5 - it had a calendar of our events

yep, its all still on there - the front page is getting bigger and bigger every time we swap threads!
but it still makes me laugh at how many questions i get about info thats right there on the front page!

Does anyone know if DCL does drink specials? Like drinks of the day and such?

heck yeah they do!
plus on our second cruise, my appreciation of the bars on the ship jumped a huge amount after it was pointed out to me that they will make ANY cocktail you want, not just whats on the menu, as long as you know whats in it :yay:

Fingers crossed we manage to dock at Castaway Cay! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

was this taken while parascending or something?

Hi everyone just can't believe in less than 24 hours thread 5 is no longer with us, but even worst is how much there is catch up on, with the time drawing nearer I'm sure it won't take long to reach tread 7 :rotfl2::rotfl2:
I'm glad no one was injured in the earthquake on the east coast

Our visits more often than not began with 'you've put on some weight'. Which was right, but no need to say it.:lmao:

oh dear I feel for you, it can be bad enough to have a negative comment from someone you don't know well..... but from your own family. I know I will put on weight on this cruise and it's no good me trying to tell myself I won't, I intend to enjoy myself and worry later...lol perhaps you could hide from MIL for a while!!

Why Karen are you setting us all a challenge????

:rotfl2::rotfl2: somehow I don't think Karen needs too

Oooooh, pretty!!

We have to get to CC, we have a Cabana party to attend!

heck yeah they do!
plus on our second cruise, my appreciation of the bars on the ship jumped a huge amount after it was pointed out to me that they will make ANY cocktail you want, not just whats on the menu, as long as you know whats in it :yay:

On our last trip, when we ate at Palo, I ordered a French Kiss martini. I figured they'd know how to make it, since I had one at the martini tasting the previous year. Our server came back and said the bartender didn't know how to make it (and I couldn't remember, other than Chambourd), so I ordered something else. Lo and behold, along came my French Kiss. The bartender had checked with the other bartenders around the ship til he found the recipe. It was delicious! Once again, Disney CMs go the extra mile!

In Rhode Island we felt the tremors, but nothing major. A few building in Providence were evacuated... mostly based on fear. I personally didn't feel it because I was dancing to Thriller with my campers.

Dennis just called MIL & BIL in Delaware. They didn't feel anything there, but they never do. (I should be nicer, but I'm not.)

i've added you to my candy swap distribution list so you guys will definately get some from me and gary :thumbsup2

Same here. :thumbsup2

Felt it here in Upstate NY!

THat IS A VERY cute FE, Squitty!

LOVE those Germany photos Krisann! It really takes me back. (I sent you a friend request :)
