How many Sue Powell's are there on FB? I see why you can't find her. The photo I posted is the one from our group - which would also be her avatar on her FB page.

Just to make me feel better(I hope;)), have a search for her. Just pop her name in the space at the top of your home page.

Okay, what I meant to say was "How many Sue Powell's are there on FB!!!!" I had already tried to find her and gave up as they just kept coming. Who knew there would be that many? I think I'll give myself a check; there definitely won't be so many of me.

Character breakfast will be in Parrot Cay, and it is a plated meal with a set time for you to show up, just like at dinner. You do not need to sign up for it. There are two seatings, just like at dinner. You do not have a lot of time with the characters - definitely have your cameras ready and your kids camera ready. They are rushing.

PC is normally open for a buffet breakfast on a 'walk in' basis, but not on the days with character breakfast.

Yes, definitely bring your cameras. The CMs working with the characters will come around and find out who to put in the pictures - they will take the photo so your entire group can be in it.

I echo what some of you are feeling. My mom will be 100 in Nov. and I am concerned that something might happen while we are at sea - the other places I can get home from. My sisters and daughters tell me life is for the living and to go cruise and enjoy it, so I will hope and pray we get to have her 100th birthday celebration with her in Nov.

I am also glad that Gary got to spend time with his dad before his passing.
OMG - the three of us caballeros will leave 3 weeks from this Wednesday!!!!:cool1::banana:

100! That is impressive. Do you get to see her and give her a hug and "I love you" before you cruise?

My 7 yo son is supposed to be asleep, but as usual he gets out of bed every 10 minutes to come in and ask me some random question. Tonight he came in and asked how many days until we go on our cruise. Ten minutes later he comes in and asks "Can we go on the Disney Dream sometime?" That child is so like me - already planning the next vacation before we have even started on this one!:love:

He said he wants to go on the Aquaduck and get a room with a virtual porthole - he knows all this because we have been watching the DCL DVD and we watch ALL of it, even where they talk about the Dream. I told him it was very expensive and maybe we could do it sometime.

So, I think I will definitely book a future cruise while I'm on board, as long as I can cancel it if we decide we can't afford it down the road. I'm not usually a fan of short cruises, but if I were to go on the Dream or the Fantasy I might do a short 3-4 day cruise and just not get off the ship - except for Castaway Cay, of course. I think I have been to every port in their itinerary and would prefer staying on an uncrowded cruise ship then doing the ports again.

Actually Lynne - I can get to see her nearly every day. She lives with my sister and her DH - helps feed the babies in my sister's daycare, sings to them... unfortunately she had a TIA this past Wed, and is having a tough time. I guess we sometimes think she is invincible to keep bouncing back.
She is very happy that I am going on this cruise, asks about it so often.

Want to find something special for her at Monserrat. Anyone have any suggestions? She has a great faith.

I was thinking we should have a "get together" I would love to meet up with the ones from this area.... I am in North Fort Worth off 35W north

This is Stan. Karen (KP) and I live in the Saginaw area and would love to try and get together with other Metroplex DISers!

Had a great weekend this weekend. One thing I love about Florida is the Tax Free holiday!!! I found several pairs of shorts, shirts and even some work clothes for great prices. Even talked my DH into shopping for stuff for himself.:cool1: I think clothes wise we are just about ready for this cruise. Packing wise....well that didn't happen at all this weekend. And next weekend probably won't happen either since we are heading to Typhoon Lagoon I think to help work on our tans before the cruise.

As for celebrations we are celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary on this cruise. The 20th. We wanted to get Palo for that night but it didn't work. That's ok though because we are spending this cruise with 5 of our most favorite people in the whole wide world and that will make it worth it. I don't know who said their birthday is October 9th, mine is the 6th. Yeah for October birthdays!!

I know what you mean, I'm just so glad gary managed to make it up to glasgow in time before his dad died. He passed five hours after gary got there. I honestly don't know how gary would have taken it if he hadn't have been there when it happened, let alone half way across the world.
That is a good thing. Dennis wasn't able to be there when his father passed. He still feels bad about that. The family didn't really clue him in as to how far gone his father was, so it was a bit of a shock when he got the call. He knew his father was close to the end, just not that close. We live 700 miles away, too, so it wasn't like he could just pop in to see how it was going.

I hope you both get some rest. This isn't going to be an easy week for you.

DH, DD and I were on a cruise when my grandfather died of lung cancer (probably 20 yrs ago or so). Due to my parents' divorce when I was very young, Grandpa was my father-figure growing up. He (and the rest of my family) lived 1000 miles away from us, so I didn't really know how sick he had become. My mother didn't want to spoil our trip, so she didn't tell me his passing was imminent. By the time we returned from our trip, he had already been buried. I felt grief and a bit of resentment (not having the opportunity to say goodbye), but I understood her motivation.

Karen, I hope Gary is able to find some comfort in memories of better times with Dad.

Larry's mother is 90 and in good health, but one never knows what will happen at that age. That's the primary reason I bought trip insurance for this cruise (first time). Life goes on....

I wish Dennis's family's motivations were as noble. His mother wouldn't tell anyone how sick his father was. It was like she was embarrassed that he had prostate cancer. One of those things from that generation I guess. Dennis was planning to take some leave time and go see his dad. If anyone had let him know how imminent the end was, he would've been there.

It was quite a few years ago that I told my parents in no uncertain terms that they were to inform me of any and all health problems. It took a bit of coaxing (aka, nagging) but I finally got through to them. So much so that a couple of years ago, when my father had kidney stones that he couldn't pass and had to have a "procedure" done to remove them, he described it to me in "four part harmony with full orchestration." There are some words - as in, parts of the anatomy - that one just doesn't need to hear from one's parents. :rolleyes1 Even with that, I know I'm very lucky to still have them both alive and kicking. They adore Dennis, too, so I let him borrow my dad when he needs a "father fix."

I understand...now that my MIL is elderly and more dependent on us, I have seen (and discussed with her physicians) parts of her I never thought I would :sad2:. Oy! I work in long-term care, so I'm the "expert" by default. :confused3 My sister in TN is stuck with our own parents' issues (God bless her soul :goodvibes); I provide emotional support from afar.

Yes, I understand the prostate thing, too. My FIL had prostate problems, as well, and my MIL was way too embarrassed to discuss it, because she said it was a "sexual" thing :rolleyes1. Definitely a generational quirk....although I can't say I really wanted to hear about it :scared1:.

having lost both my parents to cancer your emotions can be at odds with each other, either relief or absolute grief, which I feel can be very difficult.

i think thats part of the problem for him at the moment, he's feeling almost guilty for being relieved that its all over. him and his mum both agree they lost him 6 months ago after the last lot of radiotherapy, he went downhill badly after that.
wierd as it is to say though, it actually is a relief for all involved, it was no existence for him (i think existence is the right word, it wasnt a life), he was in constant pain, and gary and his mum watching him go through that was hell for them. hopefully after friday, they can start to move forward

This sounds like a recipe for getting scratched!! I guess I will have to do it though & hope that she has claws b/c keeping her inside just isn't a viable option for us.

I would not worry about checking for claws if she is still afraid of you, you might get scratched. Give it some more time. If she is coming out for you and letting you pet her then once you feel comfortable you can check. If you do not plan to bring her inside, it is really a moot point if she has claws or not, right? Why risk scaring her off?

If she is hiding under your porch and getting to know you she will be fine for the short term. You need to gain her trust and get her to a vet, so take your time with it, the vet can also tell you the claw situation--also if she is male or female (I assume we don't know, but just using she since we are shes? ;)) and you would consider getting her fixed so that she does not have kittens under your porch come spring!

Our cat is an inside cat and she has claws, so it is possible this cat, if from a home does. Personally, I feel de-clawing a cat is inhumane as it is super painful for the animal. Most ASPCA or shelter cats if you adopt require you to keep the claws on as part of the adoption.

Any luck with the fliers? Our cat also has a micro-chip, so again, gaining her trust and getting her to go with you to the vet is the main goal. Could take a month or so with cats, be patient.

Hope this helps.

Amanda

Oh my word, i really will struggle with Stevie then....I hope you won't be offended when I look at Lee to translate for me. :rotfl2:

I am meeting you in the arrivals hall, heaven help me! :rotfl: I guess we will just be squealing & jumping up & down anyway. :yay: :woohoo: :cool1:

Only teasing, you will have no problems at all. No need for any translation, apart from the odd colloquialism :thumbsup2

Just in case anyone needs reminding ......

JUST 4 WEEKS UNTIL WE BOARD THE DISNEY MAGIC !!!!!

:yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

:dance3::dance3::dance3:

yay we most certainly will.... Mary I have sent you a PM so we can make arrangments to meet

margaret

I've just noticed I have a "notification" :woohoo:

Awww this gives me a lump in my throat just reading it! I would be a sobbing mess. It is going to be such a magical cruise for your DD's, they won't want to get off the ship......mind you neither will I! ;)

My DSIL and I were so upset at the end of last year's WBTA, we didn't want to get off. She was so sad and quiet all the way to the WDW in the car :sad2:

I cry a lot on the last day ..... saying goodbye to cruise buddies is so difficult. To make it easier we planned a reunion for this year and next weekend we are having a reunion for the DIS UK WBTA 2010 group, and there are 20 of us meeting up ( not quite everyone ... but some were busy ) and hopefully next year we will do the same, only it will be 2010 and 2011 WBTA cruisers

I hope you have a lovely time this weekend Sarah. Our friends are arriving from London on Friday and leaving on Monday, who are travelling up for the 40th birthday party we have on Saturday night. We are having champagne cocktails (compliments of the birthday girl, who is a champagne-aholic) and will be thinking of you all

TOO CUTE!!! I can't wait to see it live and in-person! :) One of my favorite things at Epcot is the Crush Live thing where he talks to the kids. Crush always reminds me of Spicoli from Fast Times and Ridgemont High (well, except for the whole being high thing). Man I love that movie!!! HAHA!

Heather, you would love Animator's Palate on the Dream. Crush talks to you live in the dining room in between courses, it is amazing. It's even better than Turtle Talk as he talks to you right at your dinner table :thumbsup2

Oh yes Marilyn, I had totally forgotten about the private cruise. I bet you are right that they are busy with that.

I heard from a CM at the weekend that it is a big Spanish "company" that has booked out the cruise. If it's the Spanish Government, then that explains it.

It's our 20th wedding anniversary on 28th September, so we thought we might celebrate it on the last night of the cruise. Technically it will be the Saturday in the UK, which will be 20 years to the day :)

Mandy, we had no problems changing our Character Breakfast last year, it clashed with our palo brunch but we managed to bump it with no problems :thumbsup2

Hi Josh, you made a great FE.
Here is mine, not so big and great. It went a little bit brown from the ironing, but it is done. I have a giftbag to hang with it, because it looks big but it is small. (the bags are 10x10 cm)
I am nearly finished with my FE gifts. Just sorted out and decided how and when I give them.

Hi Liesbeth!

I love your FE! So cute!

Where did you get your letters for the names? I've been trying to source something like that but keep getting stuck. I have to get moving or we'll be using a carrier bag with our names written on it!

Thanks
Dawn :)

Dawn I have a link stored in my favourites on the pc at home with all the Disney Letters that's used for Paul's name. I'll put the link on when I get home at lunchtime for you, unless someone else beats me to it :thumbsup2

Oh, yes please! Thank you so much!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Time's getting short now! SO excited!

might make more FE gifts even though I don't need 'em, just to keep my hands busy. (Haven't got the concentration to be creative - repetitive is more like it.) I'm getting tired of trying to find things to clean or weed!

Friday is my high school class reunion. Sure seems like high school was a long time ago.

Seraphine, do you have MS word or Powerpoint? You can use wordart to make those letters.

Happy Day, all!

Hi Linda

I do have MS Word and Powerpoint, but don't have a clue how to make those letters! You guys are all so talented! If anyone can explain it to me, I'd be grateful.

We got our documents this morning! We're all set, although I noticed last night that our nursery booking and our Palo booking don't quite line up (dinner is at 8pm but babysitting isn't booked til 9pm). I tried to change it and got an error message, so I've made a big note of it to change it when I get onboard.

We're starting to get packing this week - I'm doing sewing projects (dress hems, replace buttons, all those little jobs to fix clothes I never get to wear because it's always bleeding raining here!), making our FE, have ordered stuff to make our FE gifts, and this morning I'm trolling some of the local charity shops to find stuff for my husbands pirate costume (want to find a waistcoat I can distress!). Will also work on door decoration magnets and t shirts - whew!

Plus, all my clients are finally realising I'm going to be gone for 3 weeks, and they're all panicking trying to get a booking with me before I go. It's not like I haven't been reminding them for MONTHS that they will have to do without me for most of September... geez, I'm only a nail tech, I'm not totally indespensible! (well... maybe I am...) :rolleyes1

So if this is anything like my last few holidays, I'll be fitting clients in at the last possible moment, and won't get to do my own nails until I'm actually at my destination... trying to do them in the hotel bathroom. I'll never learn! (I've actually tried booking MYSELF an appointment for MYSELF in my book... think it will work?)

Our boy starts school again next week, and I have the fun task of sending the letter in to the council to tell them I'm pulling him out of class. Not looking forward to that! We'll still keep up with homework, but I'm still nervous about it.

Eilidh tried on her red Christmas party dress and it still fits, but she has refused to take it off. I really don't want to take her to Tesco in red sequins! She also tried my tiara on and pranced about in her new sparkly white shoes. She's such a girly-girl... this princess thing is going to be right up her street!

And my big poufy red ballgown? It's at the dressmakers, being redone! I asked her if my losing 10 pounds would help, and she said only if I could lose 10 pounds and grow 4 inches... the girl who owned this dress was incredibly long bodied! So she's putting a corset panel in the back and has rebuilt it so the sleeves aren't up by my ears - I'm due to try it on tonight and am very excited!

It's all coming together, isn't it?

This is Stan. Karen (KP) and I live in the Saginaw area and would love to try and get together with other Metroplex DISers!
