i think thats part of the problem for him at the moment, he's feeling almost guilty for being relieved that its all over. him and his mum both agree they lost him 6 months ago after the last lot of radiotherapy, he went downhill badly after that.
wierd as it is to say though, it actually is a relief for all involved, it was no existence for him (i think existence is the right word, it wasnt a life), he was in constant pain, and gary and his mum watching him go through that was hell for them. hopefully after friday, they can start to move forward

Hi Karen, tell Gary it is normal he is feeling guilty, but he shouln't be. The funeral is a closure of a period. But not of thinking of him. For me then I could move foreward. And I can think of the nice things with him and not anymore of the last difficult period.
I hope friday went as you planed it, I'll be with you with my thoughts.

Where did you get your letters for the names? I've been trying to source something like that but keep getting stuck. I have to get moving or we'll be using a carrier bag with our names written on it!

Hi Dawn. Yes this is the link I used for Paul's name. in the menu you find a tab with names and his name was in there.
For my name I found someone on the board who made names on request.
(Liesbeth is not a common name in English)

I printed the names on a transfer paper and ironed it on the FE. I ironed it to long, so it's gonna be a bit brown/burned.

I thought I saw something on this forum some time ago about sharing of ebooks. We just got these (the eNook reader from Barnes & Noble) and I'm trying to learn how to use it. Is there a way to share books with others on the cruise?

I think Jacqueline (Goofieslonglostsis) had offered to transer e-books to readers with her laptop. But she isn't get on the cruise anymore.
My son is taking his laptop with him, but I don't know if he can share e-books. Which account do you use? I have a adobe digital account. I can take some English books on my extern harddisk and we can try to transfer it to your e-reader. The most books I take with me are in Dutch. I read on my iPad. What sort of books do you want.

I have still no cabin number.

I was hoping to purchase a silver Disney cruise ship charm (made by Chamillia, similar to Pandora beads) that has the Disney Cruise Line symbol on one side. I've seen pictures of this charm on the DIS boards from other cruises but have no idea how to find out if it will be available on the TA cruise. Evidently, these charms are only available on the ships, not in stores. Any advice on whom to contact? Thanks!

Bella, our beagle, and the two adult male cats (one is 10 and the other 4) get along pretty well. Max (the 4-yo) will lay next to her and sleep.

Though the cats were already in the house when we brought Bella home as a puppy at 8 weeks, so she pretty much grew up being around them. I'm sure that helps.

That is good to hear. So I should sedate the cat first?
She is still pretty wary of everything and doesn't mind hissing when she doesn't like something, so hopefully we will all grow on each other.

Hi Everyone,

Just back from Disneyland. We had an awesome time. I love, love, love California. I hope to live there someday. What I love about Disneyland is that everything is right there. The hotels, parks and Downtown Disney. You can walk to everything. We did Disneyland in the moring, Downtown Disney for lunch and California Adventure in the evening.

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about Gary's Dad. I still miss mine a lot. I wish I could say it gets easier, but you do start remembering the good times after a while.

Noel, good luck to Sam in law school.

So glad you had a wonderful time! We've only been to Disneyland once for one day - but it is on the "to do" list of trips. Maybe Disneyland & California Adventure and then a Pacific Coastal cruise.

I have to echo Liesbeth's comments. Your DH shouldn't feel guilty for feeling a bit of relief...that is normal. It is so hard to watch a loved one (parent) decline and have discomfort or pain. I watched my Mom decline for the past 2 years and it was so very difficult for her the last month - she passed away 1 month ago tomorrow. There is relief now that she is no longer in pain and is finally whole again. But my thoughts now are all of her generosity and kindness that I was fortunate to experience being her child.
My DH made a similar comment regarding the timing of my Mom's passing and the upcoming cruise...he said that the cruise will be perfectly timed for my "healing". And, he also said that I will be able to enjoy this cruise much more now that she has passed, rather than worrying the entire time about how she was doing...he is right...
You and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.

We have a VGT room reserved (verandah gtd) so I guess they're waiting until the very last day. We're getting so close now! I have a lot to comment on today! You guys are chatty! lol I would know nothing about that... I wasn't on much yesterday. I had to pack for and bring my 10 year old DS to camp. It is a sleep away camp and he is there for a week. It is the first time I have my older two children home without him. It's a weird dynamic! It is quiet around here but boy I sure do miss him already. I'm such a dork!

I had a question to the organizers: Is someone making an info sheet for our group w/ dates of the events & people's names and staterooms listed? We had one for the EBTA and it was very helpful. Just wanted to see if someone was doing that for this cruise........

I hadn't thought of this but it would be awesome to have everything on one sheet so we know.

I don't mind putting together a list of birthday and anniversary list so we know who is having a special day while on board. Let me know Cindy. I will then have people send me a PM or message on Facebook with disname room number and what you are celebrating. I can hand them out at the 3p meet up.

A list like this would be awesome! It would be fun to deliver little cards to the cabins.

Went to Macy's and JC Penny today to shop for formal night... Spent 50 dollars on a tux kit (shirt, bow tie, cummerbund), Silver suit coat and purple shirt. Feeling like James Bond (or Michael Scarn; Threat Level Midnight for my US office fans) in my first bow tie I hate shopping, but I love the feeling of victory after getting a deal and looking good.

Oooh, I can't wait to see it! I be you'll look like a million bucks! My DH gets his two new suits on Friday. They are all nicely tailored. Nothin' makes me go quite as crazy as a sharp dressed man... Hey they should write a song about that! LOL

My 7 yo son is supposed to be asleep, but as usual he gets out of bed every 10 minutes to come in and ask me some random question. Tonight he came in and asked how many days until we go on our cruise. Ten minutes later he comes in and asks "Can we go on the Disney Dream sometime?" That child is so like me - already planning the next vacation before we have even started on this one!

He said he wants to go on the Aquaduck and get a room with a virtual porthole - he knows all this because we have been watching the DCL DVD and we watch ALL of it, even where they talk about the Dream. I told him it was very expensive and maybe we could do it sometime.

So, I think I will definitely book a future cruise while I'm on board, as long as I can cancel it if we decide we can't afford it down the road. I'm not usually a fan of short cruises, but if I were to go on the Dream or the Fantasy I might do a short 3-4 day cruise and just not get off the ship - except for Castaway Cay, of course. I think I have been to every port in their itinerary and would prefer staying on an uncrowded cruise ship then doing the ports again.

My kids are dying for a Disney Cruise. My in-laws took us on one last year or the year before. They are SOLD. We are also a family of disney lovers! The only thing stopping us is the finances. I wish money grew on trees.

Yep that's the one. I've already got the Chamilia cruise ship charm which is identical but doesn't have the DCL logo, I got it just before they released the dcl version.

Hopefully they will have lots onboard for us all.
