Christina; deleted my post on page one. Thanks for raming over and making it so easy.

You guys rock, appreciate the support. Cant remember who asked, but having op one week earlier? Would've been big difference, but dehydration did me in combined with a slow recovery and that failed try. As that was one of many medical mistakes, it probably wouldnt have made it any way. Im mad and sad, but it is as it is.

Sorry to be so selfcentered, be more normal soon. :)

You are in no way being self centred Jacqueline. Goodness me, you have every reason to be sad and mad and for you to be able to come on here and vent that a little is a good thing for you.

Lynne; Palo brunch and just loungeing on deck with the kindle were my main thing. So enjoy those. :) shame I cant give the ladies mickey earrings as the FE gift. Was psyched about that.

You really don't need to apologise to us Jacqueline, we all know you were looking forward to this cruise just as much as all of us are. I can't begin to imagine how sad I would feel if I were no longer able to go. :guilty:

Big hugs to you, keep in touch. :)

I hope I'm not too late to join the fun. I'm going to take a while to find all the good hints, tips, events etc already posted.

We're from the North of England, my name's Graeme and my wife is Margaret, returning to the Magic after a great Mediterranean experience September 2010.

Welcome! We are Leanne, DH Ken and DD Morgan (9). We are from Alberta, Canada but we live in Crimea, Ukraine. This is our first ever cruise.

My DH loves those dreadful things? Talk about pure sugar. One will keep you awake for a week. I personally am not a huge fan of coconut or marshmellow.. I am more of a Funny Bones kind of girl. I loves my chocolate and peanut butter. As I may have mentioned before Reeces Pieces RULE !!!!!

I'm with you on that! Can't wait to get some back home!

Is this what you mean?

I have never heard of funny bones, but I've heard of Drake's (from the TV show, Seinfeld):

"Is that a Drake's coffee cake?"

Wow, I've never seen those before, but maybe we don't have them in Alberta. I think I could really like them!

Hi guys. Just called DCL, cancelled it..... Its too clear Im not even close to making it.

For the candy swap; both smootenloopers and just love eeyore have offered to step in. Thanks for that!. Think Its easiest if two of you decide who. As list with details like preference is on computer at home, I cant give it until Im home. However mainlist is on page 1 with the real important info.

For all; Enjoy this one a bit for me also. :)

So sorry to here you won't be joining us. Hope you get better soon!

Candy Swap

Due to ill health, Jacqueline (goofieslonglostsis) has had to cancel this cruise. Christina (JustLoveEeyore) has kindly offered to take over the organising.
Please could everyone who wants to participate (old and new) PM Christina with the following info:
- Number of people in your stateroom
- Ages of people in your stateroom
- Room number (if you have it)
- Likes/dislikes
- Allergies
- How big a group you would like to participate in

A document will be set up on the FE Google Groups page after the cutoff date. Cutoff date will likely be August 15th.

That's fine. Thank you.

Noel and John thanks so much for all of the info. I'll need to talk it through with my wife and then we'll be in touch. Cheers!

I TOTALLY understand how you feel. We were supposed to be on this cruise last year but I broke my ankle in June and had to cancel/postpone late August. I cried for days. I was just grateful I could rebook for the following year. I really hope you feel better soon. WHen you feel better book a new cruise on the new Fantasy. Have something to look forward to.

Just know how to get where you're headed and look like an angry American :scared1:!

I thought "angry American" would make me more of a target. I was planning on using my "polite Canadian" persona.

I would take the Aerobus and walk. It is quick, easy and cheap. In May when we went on NCL out of Barcelona, we took the bus with our luggage. Just so happened that Placa Cataunlya was having a massive protest as it was the day before the general Spanish elections. There were about (no exaggeration 10,000 people) in the Placa when we got off the bus. We had to drag our bags through a protest and we were not 100% sure of where we were going in relation to the bus stop. We made it, found the hotel and did not get anything stolen or lost. If your hotel is near the bus stop, take it, it is the difference of 5 euros vice 60 from the airport and hailing cabs on the street can be a pain.

We took a taxi from the hotel to the port just because of the luggage issue. Unfortunately three ships were going out that day and we got stuck in traffic at the port--there is only one way in and out of the port, over this bridge and it is one lane--so our taxi ride was about 20 Euros to go less than 5 miles, but it was better than walking it!

There is a bus that travels from the Columbus monument (end of Las Ramblas) to the port, but it does not really have room for luggage like the aerobus, so taxing really is a better option.

Amanda

That does make me feel a bit better. This is the only thing that I've been worried about. I have a strap to lash my bags together and I can push them in front rather than drag them behind me, so that might help, too.

We're definitely taking a taxi to the port.

I agree, Jacqueline! There are times when you are absolutely allowed to be "self-centered," and having to cancel a Disney vay-cay is definitely one of them. Vent all you like, girlfriend, we all understand!

Still no stateroom as of this morning.

Has anyone heard from Krisann? I've been thinking about her since we heard she was in the hospital....

Back home yesterday from 8 nights at Ft Wilderness with wife and 3 grand kids (14, 12, and 8)...did all 4 parks and Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach with two goof off days. It only rained one day and didn't really interfere but it was hot everyday. Getting ready to get ready to go East now to Barcelona. We are military hopping over so no idea where we'll come in at. Most typical entries are England, Germany, or Cadiz, Spain (Rota NAS).

8 nights in Disney! Did you have a wonderful time? I am so jealous.

Sounds like you are in for an adventure with your flights!

Jacqueline please, you are certainly not being self-centered. I think anyone in your position would be mad & sad and disappointed. I just hope you can plan another cruise soon that you can look forward to. Come back & vent anytime!!!

Just for giggles I clicked on the link and it let me in. Oh miracle of miracles. I made a request to join the group.

This is the address posted for us to use to get to the ship.
Portal de la Pau, 6
Moll Adossat, Terminal "c"
Barcelona 08039

However, that address does not correspond on Google maps to the actual location of the ship for docking in 2010, or as shown on the Barcelona Tourist Guide map. (plug it into google and you end up farther west in a more industrial pier).

The street address would be Passeig del Comte de Barcelona Joan de Borbó, Barcelona, Espanya

cruise-terminal.gif

Those who sailed on the 2011 EBTA, do you remember the pier being somewhat near the Columbus statue and drop off/pick up area for the HOHO buses (that would correspond to the map above).

...According to the DCL site, "The Disney Magic will be berthed at Adossat Terminal (Moll D'Adossat), Terminal C."

The location on the above map is the Quai Adossat (which would be the Adossat Quay) - so it looks like the same location as 2010.

For EBTA May'11 we heard about the protests and crowded streets:eek:, decided taxi was the way to go for us. Also we were headed to the airport to catch a plane to another point in europe. After leaving with our suitcases :sad1: got off the ship and saw the l-o-n-g line at the taxi stand. I waited in the line for a little bit and then realized taking the DCL transfer bus  to the airport would be a better option (DCL kiosk informed me there was space) for us

For a Med Aug '10 DCL we traveled with luggage from the metro :confused3 looking for the Columbus monument (couldn't miss it) then the bus stop for the pier. Luckily we were able to take our luggage with us. The bus traveled very slowly along this route along the pier to the ship because of the mentioned traffic. (Saturday is a busy day for cruise ships in Barcelona)
I would say this is a good option to take as well---taxi or bus from the hotel or metro is fine.

This time for WBTA we will be flying in same day arriving at 10am at the airport. I don't imagine the planes will be late since it is a short 1 hour ride, but feel better either traveling to the port with our fellow WBTA-ers or DCL than a taxi for some reason. (have yet to finalize this) Taxis, buses, BCL transfer companies, they are all fine. Our members here are a wealth of information for this as I'm reading this page for Barcelona transfers.
Thank you all for the info!

nancy, i'm arranging a minibus hire from the airport to the port at about 11.45am on departure day. cost will be 10 euros each. let me know if you're interested, got two spaces left
