Oh, I'm good at that expression! Maybe we should call it, "tough middle-aged woman" instead!
I only mention my "polite Canadian" persona because every time I've traveled in the UK I've had people ask me if I'm Canadian - usually followed by, "you're so polite."

Yep, my good Canadian parents taught me to say "please" and "thank you" for everything. Unfortunately, I encountered way too many Americans who were very loud and very rude when things weren't like they are "at home." I wanted to say, "go home, then."
On a flight to England once, I heard the couple in the row ahead of me ask the flight attendant if England was like the UK section at Epcot. The poor flight attendant was momentarily speechless, but answered them very politely. I can't recall what he said, because I was thinking, "Yes, it's exactly like the UK section at Epcot, only bigger. Maybe you should just go to Epcot."

I love America, but some of my fellow countrymen are just a bit embarrassing. I know all of us "Yanks" here will be very polite!
