Well that UPS package from the Walt Disney Travel Company turned out to be our Disneyland Package for August, not for the cruise. Not that I am sad because I am soooooo excited to go to Disneyland. . I thought it was way to soon to get anything from DCL. Patience is NOT one of my strong points.

I'm with you on the lack of patience. I am waiting 2 set of travel documents. I know they won't be coming for some time yet but that doesn't mean I don't want them, NOW! We are going on the cruise in September and we're taking the family to WDW in December. I'm terribly excited!!!

I just went by BOA and AAA to find out about exchange rates. BOA was 1.524 with a one time $7.50 fee and AAA was 1.542 with no fee. Stupid me, I had to come home and get a calculator to figure out if it was better for the number to be higher or lower (lower is better).

While I was at AAA I saw the CUTEST hard-sided Disney luggage, and then lo and behold, I get home and I'm on this board and you guys are talking about luggage. I just looked for it on the internet and it is apparently HEYS luggage? Really cute Disney designs. Not sure how practical/durable the luggage is though. And pretty expensive, although now that I've looked online, not really a bad price (the smaller/carry on size was $75 and the larger size was $175).

Does anyone have any experience with this luggage?

Isn't that funny that the thread is today about the same topic? Also how coincidental that I absolutely love the Disney HEYS! but cannot get my hands on it here in Canada at a reasonable price.

I was looking all over for Disney HEYS luggage but couldn't find it.
Then I saw HEYS set in a nice blue color at Costco. It was 99.00 for the 2 pieces (it was important that the wheels were spinner wheels). HEYS offers both types of wheels. We took the set on the EBTA and then spent 8 days in Paris. I LOVE this luggage---absolutely love it. Now I see new colors at Costco but are asking 130.00 for the set. I never did see the Disney HEYS but did see it last week online. I love it!!! HEYS has a good reputation for quality. The only trouble is that the luggage takes up space in the room. I fit the carry-on sized luggage under the bed, and the full-sized in the closet.

ST MAARTEN CURRENCY

Anyone ever been to St Maarten? I know Aurore has. Most websites say we can use US $ in St Maarten and euros in St Martin. Can someone verify?

Lynne, we've used dollars on both sides with no problems. We've been to St Maarten a few times and never had any trouble paying with $$$$

Advocaat (or advokat) is a rich and creamy liqueur made from eggs, sugar and brandy. It has a smooth, custard-like flavor. In English-speaking countries it generally contains 15% alcohol (30 proof), but in Continental Europe the typical alcohol content differs from country to country and is generally somewhere between 14% and 20% ABV. Its contents may be a blend of egg yolks, aromatic spirits, sugar or honey, brandy, vanilla and sometimes cream (or evaporated milk). Notable makers of advocaat include Warners, Bols, Dwersteg (first organic advocaat), Verpoorten, Warninks, Cooymans, Jansen and De Kuyper.

Snowball
Ingredients:

* 1 1/2 oz Advocaat
* 8-10 oz cold Lemonade
* 1 slice Lemon
* Ice cubes

Mixing instructions:

Place one ice cube in the glass and add 1 1/2 oz of Advocaat. Fill up the glass with lemonade and decorate with a slice of lemon. Serve at once.

Mary & I were going to share a bottle of Cassis to go with our Champagne but as you don't need lots of it Mary suggested that we buy some empty plastic travel bottles from Boots (Pharmacy) and fill them at home with cassis and take them with us in our hand luggage. I hope that explains it.....

It's the 30th anniversary tomorrow of the death of Stevie's beloved Grandad, who was taken from us far too young. So we are going to have the Rosa Regale tomorrow and have a toast to him. Grandad loved WDW and came here when it first opened I think that's where Stevie first got his love of WDW when his grandparents brought him back parkmaps to look at and souveniers

You are a wise one I hope to be doing the same thing, following the advice from a book I'm reading where she says "one square of chocolate tastes the same as the whole bar". I put that into practice on a recent trip to the Cheesecake Factory where the four of us were sharing a piece of Key Lime Cheesecake. (one of my all time favorites) I was just about to swallow my bite and reach for another, when the thought occurred to me to hold the bite in my mouth a tad longer and taste all the tangy-ness and feel the light texture. I think I actually tasted more in that one bite than I've tasted in all the cheescakes that have come before it ... and that's a lot I didn't take another bite and even now a few weeks later, I can vividly recall the flavor of that bite

If we get enough members, the cost should be $10 or less per member.

09. We are also going to do a Champagne Girls meet. The Champagne Girls event originated on the WBPC cruise in 2008. Women get together dressed in pink to drink champagne or non alcoholic bubbly and chat. Pictures of the first meet are in this post and pictures from the last WBTA are in this post. Please PM (Clare)Pinky166 to add you name to the list.

10. If you would like to join in the Scrapbooking Exchange, please PM Clare (Pinky166) with your name and room number. The idea is to give your fellow exchangers some scrapbooking embellishments for use in your scrapbooks after you return home! For more info check this post.

11 Join us for a Pajama breakfast on September 18 at 10:00 AM at Lumiere's. We will meet outside Lumiere's at 9:50 AM to take group pictures. If you are interested, please PM Mandy (MandyGirl) with the number in your party.

14. Karen (Pixie Dust For Me!)is organizing stateroom tours, but we can't do it without you! PM me with your stateroom assignment and room number and we will tour as many staterooms as possible. It would be great to get one in every category!

16. Cliffy 97 (Dan and Bruce) are organizing a typical English pub crawl on Friday, September 16 from 1:00PM until 5:00PM. We can then restart after dinner.
Those who were interested will in one of the bars for ( Traditionally a half pint pounded, I would suggest a drink of your choice) and then visit (Crawl) every other bar on the ship at least once.
As we do not have to worry about anything closing or how we are getting home, I would imagine we can spend 20-30 min at each location versus the 5-10 min you have on the monopoly pub crawl in London.

17. If anyone wants to organize a postcard exchange, please feel free to start one. What we did las year is bring a postcard from where we lived and left in each other's FE. It is best to limit the number of participants no more than 25 as cost and weight to bring become an issue.

18. If you are interested in joining us for a farewell lunch, contact Claire (Pinky166) to be added to the list.
Come & join us for a farewell DIS lunch on the last sea day. Thursday 22nd Sept at 12.15pm, we are not sure which of the three rotational restaurants will be open on that day, should there be more than one open I have put them in order of preference - 1st Lumiere's, 2nd Parrot Cay or 3rd Animator's Palate.
Please make sure you check your Navigator that morning to see which restaurant is open for lunch as I won't be able to tell you in advance.
Please PM me if you'd like to join us and I will add you to the list, then once onboard notify the restaurant so they can seat us together at some large tables.

19. Hard Rock Cafe Meet. Some of us are hoping to meet up for drinks/a meal the evening of Friday 9th September at 6:30 PM at the Hard Rock Cafe on Placa Catalunya and is being organized by Sarah (Totally Angelic). Please send her a PM if you want to join in the fun!

20. Jane (We'reAliens) is organizing a Book Exchange. The idea is that a large bag will be hung on handrail outside stateroom 7120 available for anyone to borrow and, of course, donate books.

She is looking at booking it directly and would be very happy to share a taxi (minivan) with others who are interested. If you book ahead of time directly with the company you receive a discount. The Dolphin Royal Swim is for adults & children age 8+. ($149.00 adult) ($129.00 child) For the two, the total would be 278.00- discount= 208.00 US There are 4 shows as possibilities: 10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm. 23. Nancy (Lionessa) is organizing a HealthErcise group which will begin now (you can join anytime) precruise each day until we sail off. Then after we sail off, it doesn't stop there! On-board each day,we meet at a pre-arranged time to exercise together either on Deck 4 or the gym. During this time we support each other day after day until the end of the cruise with our goal of staying healthy with exercise while enjoying our meals and snacks.

You can exercise any amount of days you wish when we are cruising---one day, four days, or all the days. We will discuss what times and where (indoor or outdoor) are best to meet for exercise once we sail. Please PM her if you need more details and to join.

I know!!! Mind you between us our alcohol list is looking rather good. Our steamer trunks (aka alcohol storage) are going to be the envy of others.

Advocaat sounds like eggnog to me.
I love eggnog (grocery store kind) mixed with vanilla icecream to make a shake ... yum!



It really is on my list to visit the UK. If DCL would do a TA from NY to London that could be just the push I need.
