LOL..."trannies"...that's funny! Is that short for Transatlantic or is this going to be a very interesting cruise?
As a "car gal" I would have thought it meant "transmissions".

I hope I'm not too late to join the fun. I'm going to take a while to find all the good hints, tips, events etc already posted.

We're from the North of England, my name's Graeme and my wife is Margaret, returning to the Magic after a great Mediterranean experience September 2010.

Welcome aboard! We're Caroline, Eilean & Linda from . . . uh . . . the northeastern United states.

I picked up my Euros and bought some TSA approved locks for my luggage this morning. Still dithering over the pacsafe bag - I never owned a $50 purse in my life!

Welcome :dance3: You're not too late - I found the DISboards a few months before a cruise while searching for information on the internet. Just join in on the chatter if you so chose, many of us have not met yet in person, although you'd think we were old friends the way we sit around and talk.

Oh, yeah, I'm Lynne from Alabama (southern US), solo in a cabin but reconnecting with former cruisemates. This is my 8th DCL cruise; 2nd TA (transatlantic) - last year did the Eastbound followed by a Mediterranean. Just did Alaska in June.

See you on September 10 at 3pm in the Promenade Lounge, Deck 3 of the Magic for a quick meet-up with the rest of the gang to put names to faces and let the merriment begin. (We have to skedaddle to life boat drill by 4pm).

... I personally am not a huge fan of coconut or marshmellow.. I am more of a Funny Bones kind of girl. I loves my chocolate and peanut butter. As I may have mentioned before Reeces Pieces RULE !!!!!

Is this what you mean?

I have never heard of funny bones, but I've heard of Drake's (from the TV show, Seinfeld):

"Is that a Drake's coffee cake?"

Those would be the ones. Makes me hungry. Yummy !!!!

Tranny is definitely meant as a group term for the Transatlantic cruisers, but the fun interpretation of the word is up to you!! It came from a post on the FB page, not sure who mentioned it first but it did cause some fun for a while.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Pacsafe backpack when we went on the Mediterranean cruise last year. I'll be bringing it again on the cruise this year. You won't go wrong if you get one! :thumbsup2

So sorry Jacqueline, we will miss you, know you will be there in spirit. Please take care and get well soon.

For those of you who were asking how Spreashirt.com was, we got our shirts today. They came out fine and the quality of the shirt was good. Link to Pub Shirt Martini here:

I got it on a dark shirt cause I tend to spill, but you can get it on many colors.

But aren't you always told to not eat the yellow snow??:confused3:lmao:

:lmao: Ewwww!!! Yes, my mummy always told me, NEVER eat yellow snow. ;)

I add a splash of vodka and lime in mine too :)

That sounds nice, i'll try that.:thumbsup2

I've ordered one too, I figure that i'll carry that with a few essentials in it rather than DH taking a big rucksack whilst we are touring Barcelona.

:guilty: :guilty: :guilty: NOOOOOOO!!! Oh Jacqueline I am so sad that you won't be joining us.

Please stay in touch & let us know how you are recovering, we will have several FAB's for you. Take care hun. xx

I just went by BOA and AAA to find out about exchange rates. BOA was 1.524 with a one time $7.50 fee and AAA was 1.542 with no fee. Stupid me, I had to come home and get a calculator to figure out if it was better for the number to be higher or lower (lower is better).

While I was at AAA I saw the CUTEST hard-sided Disney luggage, and then lo and behold, I get home and I'm on this board and you guys are talking about luggage. I just looked for it on the internet and it is apparently HEYS luggage? Really cute Disney designs. Not sure how practical/durable the luggage is though. And pretty expensive, although now that I've looked online, not really a bad price (the smaller/carry on size was $75 and the larger size was $175).

Does anyone have any experience with this luggage?

so sorry to hear you have to drop out jacqueline, sending pixie dust for you to get better soon

I'm so sorry to hear that Jacqueline! Wish you could have waited to see how you were doing but only you knows what is going on! Hope you have a speedy recovery!

Didn't know what you were talking about, so looked it up

Advocaat (or advokat) is a rich and creamy liqueur made from eggs, sugar and brandy. It has a smooth, custard-like flavor. In English-speaking countries it generally contains 15% alcohol (30 proof), but in Continental Europe the typical alcohol content differs from country to country and is generally somewhere between 14% and 20% ABV. Its contents may be a blend of egg yolks, aromatic spirits, sugar or honey, brandy, vanilla and sometimes cream (or evaporated milk). Notable makers of advocaat include Warners, Bols, Dwersteg (first organic advocaat), Verpoorten, Warninks, Cooymans, Jansen and De Kuyper.

Advocaat sounds like eggnog to me. I love eggnog (grocery store kind) mixed with vanilla icecream to make a shake ... yum!

You really need to visit England just so you can understand what on earth we are withering on about.
:lmao: I'm sorry we confused you so much Karen but you've given me a good laugh this morning. ;)

It really is on my list to visit the UK. If DCL would do a TA from NY to London that could be just the push I need.

Glad I could make you smile with all my sillyness

This is Pimms with Lemonade (or Sprite/7Up in the US)....

Pimms-Serve-Image.jpg

And, yes, those are sliced cucumbers in there! It just doesn't taste right without the cucumbers! It really is amazing, and a lovely summer drink.
It looks very pretty

Here are a few from Disneyland Paris in December, not much snow but it looked pretty! :cold:

Gorgeous pics Claire, I would love to see the Park this way, were you there at Christmas time? It was a little strange to see snow on the palm trees  What kind of camera do you use.

Desserts are important to me!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
You must be so fun at the dessert buffets. :goodvibes

Exactly what I thought of too

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this, I hope you are ok. Would it have made a difference if the surgery had been a week early, or was this a totally unexpected occurrence. Be well soon.:flower3:

Oh no! :sad1: I am so sorry that you will not be joining us Jacqueline. I hope you will get well soon and keep in touch. Maybe we will get the opportunity to meet each other on another DCL sailing.

Oh I used to do but I'm not supposed to indulge now. I will have some little spoonfulls of lots of lovely desserts this trip and hope for the best!!!:lmao:

If I recall correctly, Disney makes some good sugar free chocolate chip cookies. Not the same, I realize, but everyone has to do what they have to do. Personally I don't each much sweets, but cookies are my weakness. That and pasta, of any shape with almost any sauce, or no sauce at all if I have to. :thumbsup2

:sad1: These human bodies certainly can spoil our plans.

Is there anything in particular we need to enjoy for you? We can do a Survivor moment and say something good about you in a special place.

Here's hoping you can recover from this procedure and get better and start planning (and doing) your next adventure.

And keep on talking with us when you get the chance!
