I like that thought, and will definitely keep that in mind when it comes time to bid farewell to our TA cruise family.

Our first cruise was 10 nights and we got on the ship as a couple, but left feeling a part of something larger than ourselves. We were so surprised to find ourselves leaving the ship with tears streaming down our faces, it was unlike any vacation we had ever experienced before, and we were hooked on cruising with Disney from that moment on. :wizard:

I cry a lot on the last day ..... saying goodbye to cruise buddies is so difficult. To make it easier we planned a reunion for this year and next weekend we are having a reunion for the DIS UK WBTA 2010 group, and there are 20 of us meeting up ( not quite everyone ... but some were busy ) and hopefully next year we will do the same, only it will be 2010 and 2011 WBTA cruisers :thumbsup2

Funny I think you and Hazel may be of same stock. For past 3 weeks she's been saying can you get the bag out I want to start packing so I know how much space I have. That tells me clothes will be all over the place for the cat to sleep on that will need re washing and then ironing the day before we leave! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I'm more of a get the bag out 2 days before and then decide what I might want to take!!!

yay Hazel a girl after on own heart, at the moment am not sure where I'm going to sleep tonight the beds covered in clothes and I've run out of steam !!

Lots of single $'s for tipping room service and bar staff.

A bottle opener is essential! (Well it is for me anyway ;) )

I have a wash bag which unrolls and hangs in the bathroom, I find that really useful so the limited bathroom shelves are not so cluttered.

Wow thanks some great ideas..... We have 100 dollar bills but lol not sure we will get though all that room service !!!

It will be our Wedding Anniversary on Sept 2nd :bride::groom:, so this cruise is to celebrate 30 blissful years together :lovestruc

We'll be celebrating our 24th Wedding anniversary on the 19th September.

Congralutions on your special day, we will also be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, and my birthday after the cruise on 9th oct. Also noted other people's with birthday.... so a ship full of pixe dust for all those special datespixiedust:pixiedust:

We have our brunch ressie for that day/time, too! We'll meet you at the desserts table. :thumbsup2

One more item checked off the pre-cruise checklist. I just made a ressie at OKW for the Saturday night after the cruise. We're going to use one of our left-over admissions on our 4-day military tickets to do a park day, and we decided it would be easier (read: more fun) to stay on property than go back to my parents' house. We're staying at Casa de Madre y Padre pre-trip to save a little time and money, so I thought this would be a nice post-trip treat before we have to drive home (6+ hours, ugh) on Sunday.

glad you got your night booked, sounds like a lovely treat

Sadly I thought the same thing

Wow, you are so creative Josh :thumbsup2

Congratulations! that is awesome! It will be a magical Celebration!
We'll be celebrating our 24th Wedding anniversary on the 19th September.

Congratulations to you too!... What a fun way to celebrate!

DH and I had our anniversary on the EBTA we did a vow renewal ... had about 65 people there... it was so awesome!

Congrats on your anniversary too.. and Happy Birthday... I have my birthday just a couple days before we board.....

You only have to do the click on the yellow space next to "IMG" on photobucket ; that copies it. Then just paste it in your post (For Mac users, so easy, Apple+V). Don't need to do the yellow mountain postcard step (not even sure why it's there).

OOOH, good to know!! I'm never using the yellow postcard thing, again! :)

Hugs for leaving them! We cruised 8 nights a couple years ago without DD1 (only child at that point) and I think I cried everyday. I actually chose a port intensive cruise so that if something happened and we had to fly home to the US, there was only one sea day. Luckily all went well.
We are the opposite... this is our first cruise WITH the kiddos (although since #1 was born, we have cut back on our yearly cruising... so this will only be our second cruise since she was born!). This will also be their first Disney experience, and when I think of the first time Sarah gets to see Mickey, I get tears in my eyes! I'm going to have to work hard on keeping tears away - this is such a dream come true for us.

Our kids are older (10, 13, and 15) and this is our 4th or 5th trip without them. They do not care in the least that we're leaving. I am pretty sure I'll be fine. Normally, when we are gone we don't talk to them because they're too busy doing their own thing. It is bitter sweet for me. On one hand I'm super glad that they are "fine" without me and are independent and secure enough to not need me around 24/7 but it would be nice to be missed a little bit. :rotfl:

I finally made my FE with the help of a few crafty people! Its crush from Finding Nemo! He's kinda big, but I like him :-)

TOO CUTE!!! I can't wait to see it live and in-person! :) One of my favorite things at Epcot is the Crush Live thing where he talks to the kids. Crush always reminds me of Spicoli from Fast Times and Ridgemont High (well, except for the whole being high thing). Man I love that movie!!! HAHA!

I have the perfect solution .......... Sleep in your suitcase, then you won't have to disturb your clothes! :lmao: :rotfl2:

We can join anniversary celebrations as have celebrated our 10th anniversary this year :lovestruc

Yay for Happy Birthday! :thumbsup2
I never saw Benjamin Button, just know Curt came home from it in tears when he saw it on his afternoon off, so I figured it is one for me to avoid.
And yes... kiddos in secondary school... it can be hard. However, I always say if your school allows it and you have willing teachers (or tutors you work with), then DO IT. Technology these days helps make it happen without lugging textbooks around. All the years I taught, I would have students go home to various countries or go on vacations, and I made sure to work with them however I could. I always believed in putting life first, and helping families accomplish that.
Well hopefully that might work out - I feel bit guilty doing it though - hope it does'nt put too much pressure on my DD when she has to catch up after the holidays:thumbsup2

I agree , it is sad to say goodbye to friends and of course to the Ship. last year we were very down in the dumps as we disembarked. This got even worse as we passed the long queue of people waiting to embark . We were wishing we could just hop over the rail and start all over again.pirate:

Thanks Josh, I will try that one. :thumbsup2

Yay for that!! :thumbsup2
I just booked our first WDW trip... for November to attend the Mickey's Christmas party. Booked at POP so we could afford it... but Sarah will not know until we arrive there (her first trip) and we are also giving a cousin and her twin girls buddy passes to fly down as well (their first trip as well... including first flights!). Gotta call back today to give the payment info, but we have decided to not even tell the girls they are seeing each other until we bump into them. I have not been to WDW in 21 years... so I am excited as well!

Wow how wonderful, it will be like going for the first time for you too. :goodvibes

It will be nice for you to have something to plan & look forward to after the cruise. :)

:rotfl2: Love that!!! I can picture it now.

Thank you to everyone for their well wishes. San Diego is 500 miles south of here so is going to be really tricky to get all her stuff there by Monday!

Yikes! Well I hope it all works out. You guys will look back on this & laugh when she's graduating ;)

I am seeing all the posts of 28 days or 29 days until the vacation but DH likes to look at it a different way. Only 16 more days of work before we take off. :woohoo: Makes it seem that much closer.

I like the way your DH thinks!!

Aww poor little kitty, at least she found you who is kindly feeding her. :goodvibes I hope you manage to find her owners. :wizard:

Oh I hope so too!! In the meantime she will be taken care of, but I'm pretty sure my dog isn't too happy about it!

That's what I am afraid of! Both the sobbing and not wanting to get off the ship! I woke up the other morning to find that Sarah had started putting her packing stuff on the dining room table. We had four princess dresses, four pairs of shoes to match, jewelry, tiaras, wands, gloves, and the play makeup her grandmother bought her. I sent Curt a message at work, and told him to be prepared to pack in only a carryon! :rotfl2: And that did not include the actual CLOTHES I have started taking out for her. We are planning on doing laundry, and I have big post-it charts up laying out what we are wearing each day and packing, but still... I am sure Sarah will have over 50% of luggage space while the other three of us cram it all in. After all, she turns five the week we board the cruise, and thinks the cruise is for HER birthday! I'm going to let her wear her birthday shirt on embarkation day though so she DOES feel like it is. :thumbsup2 The excitement in her voice when she says "Mommy, do you think ARIEL will be on the Dizinee cruise with us?" just sends goosebumps.... Dang it tears - go away! I can't even type!

That is SO cute Mandy!

You can tell Sarah there are LOTS of Disney princesses on the ship. We only saw Ariel in the show, but I know Belle was very present last year (she also did story time in the kids club) and Aurora, Snow White, Tiana & Cinderella all made appearances for greetings.

There was a Princess Gathering on the Prince & Princess Menu Night too, so look out for that.

Yay! Congratulations you guys. 30 Years is certainly something to celebrate!:woohoo:

Not long to wait now for the reunion Sarah. Is there anyone else on this cruise thread who will be in Nottingham next weekend?

mmm... that's an idea,:rotfl2::rotfl2: but it would have to be a b..... big suitcase

And I'm up for the celebration....how many can we fit into 14 days.... happy anniversary !!!

Any excuse to celebrate and party sounds good to me :)

Well I'm driving back to Essex tomorrow, back at work for four days, then coming back up for the funeral. My petrol bill is going to be horrific :( flying isn't an option either as the flights are ridiculously expensive

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about Gary's dad. You have a tough week ahead of you x

Mandy.. I'm tearing up too...lol brings back memories of when we took the grandkids on a Disney cruise a few years ago. One of them was 5 also... The last night of the cruise she came to dinner ( we insisted she leave her lab and have dinner with us) As we were waiting for our food she began to tear up.. we asked her what was wrong and she started crying and said... "We leave tomorrow and I don't want to go home. I want to stay on the ship" We were all in tears.... They have so much fun but when it is time to leave and go back to the real world.... well I'm with them.. I don't want to go either!

Our son always knows on the last night when they have all of the characters together for the final goodbye, he always gets us all sad that the magic is over! Good thing we're doing an extra week this time!

A

She did go to undergrad in SD, didn't she? That would take away some of the shock of starting school in a new town. Pass along a Ho'omaika'i 'ana.

Yes, she did go to USD for undergrad. We are still frantically doing stuff so not much time for the DIS in the next week.

Noel i'm so pleased for your DD, I hope you manage to get everything together for Monday. :wizard:
.

I hope so too!!

Oh my word, i really will struggle with S

And Noel, you must be proud and she gonna make it in time I am sure.

Congratulations to Sam .... it all sounds very exciting :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Congratulations to Sam - hope she manages to get there.

That's WONDERFUL! Congratulations to SAM! You all must be :dance3:

:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Congraulations to Sam.....you are all going to be so busy getting organised, hope it all goes well

margaret

Many congratulations!! :cool1:
I do have to find it amazing there are still some institutions that send out hardcopy acceptance letters. So much has seemed to have gone electronic, at least when I was applying to grad schools. They could have saved you some last-minute headaches sending her acceptance electronically, but I know you will have her down there ready to go Monday morning. :thumbsup2

Thank you everyone for your well wishes which I have passed along to Sam. She was amazed to find so many people wishing her well that she has never met!!
